Today on the Friday, February 20 episode of General Hospital, the ABC daytime drama series pays tribute to it’s legendary star, Anthony Geary, when a very special standalone episode that honors the character he played, Luke Spencer, is broadcast.

As previously reported, at the epicenter of the story is Luke’s daughter, Lulu Spencer now played by Alexa Havins. When Luke died in a cable car accident a few years back, Lulu was in a coma that lasted four years. When she awoke, she learned her father had died, but never really dealt with his loss, until now. While Havins is the third adult actress to play Lulu (following Julie Berman and Emme Rylan), she sadly never got the opportunity to work with the late Anthony Geary.

Appearing in the episode are actors who had a long history with Geary, including Luke’s two wives through the years; the incomparable, Genie Francis (Laura) and Jane Elliot (Tracy). The tribute includes plenty of flashbacks that help tell the story of Luke’s life.

In the General Hospital video teaser preview for the episode, Lulu is looking at a photo of her late dad. Then, an emotional Lulu who is grieving Luke, gets some help from Tracy, who tells her, “You and I are going to honor your dad.” That sets the stage for the episode.

The video teaser also shared the previously released scene with Laura having a moment alone in the chapel telling Luke how important he will always be in her life, and for all that he did for her through their lives together, and later Sonny (Maurice Benard) with Carly (Laura Wright), expressing that “Luke was more than my friend. He was my brother.”

ACCESS HOLLYWOOD BEHIND THE SCENES WITH GH STARS

In addition, Access Hollywood visited the set of General Hospital during the making of the Anthony Geary/Luke Spencer standalone episode, where they spoke with Genie Francis, Jane Elliot and Maurice Benard.

Speaking to the camera about the episode, Francis explained, “I just wanted to pay tribute to him. The way he deserves to be.  That was my prayer, my hope and what I tried to do. I think he was a genius as an actor. I think he was magical and he raised the bar for daytime, like nobody has in the past. I got to learn from one of the greats.”

Jane Elliot shared, “They’ve done a masterful job to mount story around these clips, that give the audience a wonderful experience of the character of Luke Spencer and the actor Tony Geary.”

You can check out the General Hospital tease for today’s episode below, followed by the Access Hollywood preview.

Now let us know, what do you think about the concept of the story that it is Lulu, who will be the one mourning her dad after never having the opportunity to grief him properly at the time he died? Are you looking forward to saying one last goodbye to Luke in honor of Tony Geary? What was your favorite story of Luke’s through the years? Let us know via the comment section below.

It’s sad how the loss of  Tony Geary also amplifies the loss of Jackie Zeeman and Tristan Rogers. We could really use their voices narrating about their characters’ (Bobbie and Robert ) interactions with Luke. I am sure there will be memories of extraordinary action or classic romantic scenes, but what stands out in my mind are the quieter scenes where Geary’s personality and sense of humor breathe through Luke. Tony could be both funny and touching with his ad-libbing and comedic pacing. For instance, Bobby, his baby sister, was sulking at the steps of the Brownstone on her birthday. Luke joins her, and she goes on a long rant about how upset she was that Tony, her husband, gave her a certificate for a spa retreat, indicating that she needed to lose weight. At one point, she tearfully and angrily refers to Tony as sending her off to a “FAT FARM!”While she is tearfully emoting to Luke, her husband, friends, and Carly (then played by a young Sarah Brown), blithely unaware that Tony’s birthday gift had publicly mortified Bobby, are all carrying on with her birthday party upstairs in Bobby and Tony’s apartment. While she rants, Luke just listens without saying a word. When she is finally done venting, Luke is quiet for a minute, deep in thought. Finally, without missing a beat, he exclaims,” Tony wants to send you to a FAT farm!!!? That is OUTRAGEOUS!”  Bobby bursts out laughing, and thus, her big brother succeeded in cheering her up by offering both humor and validation. The brother-sister dynamic between Bobby and Luke felt grounded in reality. I wish I could find a clip of this scene on YouTube, but it’s hard to find the understated quiet moments from GH’s yesteryear.

I wish we could have had a few scenes with Bobbie and Luke, Carly, and even Aunt Ruby. I did enjoy what was presented… all the same.

I just watched. They did a beautiful job in a short amount of time. I appreciated how they juxtaposed Alexa Havens into the scene of Luke telling Lulu (played by ER at the time) that she will always be his baby girl and ending with Luke walking off into the foggy docks of Port Charles.

It was a beautiful episode. I was impressed with everyone involved. But Lulu, Tracy and Laura especially stood out. Also glad they included Elizabeth who just seems incredibly underutilized to be such a legacy character.

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Weighs-In on Dante and Elizabeth Pairing and Sharing Scenes with Rebecca Herbst (Exclusive)

Published

On General Hospital, the current PCPD commissioner Dante Falconeri  (Dominic Zamprogna) has been lied to, and kept in the dark, by those he thought he could trust which includes his ex-wife Lulu (Alexa Havins), his own son, Rocco (Finn Carr) and a man he considers a good friend and police partner, “Nathan” West, only Dante doesn’t know that “Nathan” is a fraud, and really his twin brother, Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey)!

The only person, who seems to be a good friend and reliable is ‘General Hospital’ head nurse Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst). For months, GH viewers are witnessing key moments when Dante and Elizabeth are there for each other. In fact, she helped Dante realize it was Rocco who shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and was willing to help him cover up the crime so his son does not go to prison. Problem is, Rocco took off with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Theibaud) and as of now Dante has no idea where they are.

In a new and exclusive interview out this weekend on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, Dominic Zamprogna chats about the potential pairing of Dante and Elizabeth and the opportunity to work with beloved longtime GH favorite, Rebecca Herbst, and if he thinks when all is said and done, Dante will wind up back with Lulu. Here’s some excerpts from the conversation below.

ELIZABETH HAS PROVEN HERSELF TRUSTWORTHY TO DANTE

Speaking on how Dante feels currently about Elizabeth, Zamprogna explained, “At this point, Elizabeth is the only person, he can trust. She’s the only one who’s essentially told Dante what’s what. But. there’s also this connection for sure beyond that, right? That’s something that we’ve tried to play. We don’t know what the end game is, honestly, as actors, I don’t know what the end game is. You have to assume that every time you’re in a scene with anybody, you’re chemistry testing, and you want to do right by the characters.”

Although Dante’s primary romances have been with Lulu and the late Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), a paring of Dante and Liz has never been approached by the series until now.

“To me, it’s interesting because they’ve never really explored anything between Dante and Elizabeth before. So, it’s all kind of new,” shared Dominic. “That’s the most exciting part of any relationship, the new stuff, before you jump into the domesticated stuff. That’s maybe where Ric (Rick Hearst) and Elizabeth are. They’re kind of more in this domesticated thing, or experiencing that, whereas Dante and Elizabeth truly are kind of needing each other at this moment.”

As Dominic explains it, Dante has found himself needing Elizabeth as his sounding board, since everyone else betrayed him. “Dante definitely needs Elizabeth and has reached out to her. She’s been honest, and provided him with things that he needed (to help cover up that his son, Rocco shot Cullum), explains the five-time Daytime Emmy nominee. “There’s also the other stuff that he’s finding out about her that he didn’t know. Like when she’s in the office with him and she’s talking about her past and the trauma that she’s been through (referring to Elizabeth’s rape).”

COULD THERE BE A DANTE/ELIZABETH/RIC TRIANGLE AHEAD?

Dominic continued with high praise for his co-star, “It’s interesting for me to play, because I don’t know that story of Elizabeth as an actor, because it was before I got to the show. So, it’s two characters finding out more about each other who’ve been in each other’s orbit for 17 years. (As to the potential pairing), I’m happy to hear people are  digging it because I dig it. Rebecca is phenomenal, and she plays a legacy character, and to me, one of the best actors on the show.”

With Lulu seemingly falling for “Nathan” and then currently breaking it off, Zamprogna and GH fans are awaiting to see what happens when Lulu finds out that “Nathan” is Cassius, while also finding out if Ric Lansing could be the true spoiler in any potential Liz and Dante budding romance.

“I don’t know what the long game is. I literally have no clue,” shared Zamprogna. “I currently don’t believe that there’s a Dante/Lulu happening. It feels like if they did go down the road of Dante and Ric fighting for Elizabeth, I think that would be interesting to have two guys fighting over her as opposed to two women fighting over Ric and Dante.”

PLANTING THE SEEDS FOR DANTE/ELIZABETH ROMANCE

GH fans will recall the recent scenes where Elizabeth was dressed for her date with Ric, but stopped by Dante’s office at the PCPD first. Dante remarked, in so many words, how beautiful she looked.

Zamprogna hoped that viewers caught it, explaining, “Those are real little moments that I’m always happy or captured. It’s two people who don’t have a romantic relationship, but, planting those little seeds of her coming in and him seeing her out of her scrubs for the first time and being like, ‘Oh my, God  You look amazing.”  And then as the scene ends, they’re kind of wrapped up in things, and then he is like, ‘I could keep talking to you forever,’ but she has a date to get to with Ric.”

You can check out the full conversation with Dominic Zamprogna now on the Michael Fairman Channel below.

Now, let us know, after checking out Dominic’s thoughts on a potential Dante and Elizabeth pairing? Are you hoping the GH writers put them together, or do you want Liz with Ric? And, do you think the end game will still be Dante and Lulu as the exes still have to come together to find their son, Rocco, who is on the run with Britt? Kate Mansi Wraps On-Screen Run as ‘General Hospital’s’ Kristina Corinthos-Davis

Published

The Friday, June 12 episode of General Hospital marked the last for Daytime Emmy winner, Kate Mansi as Kristina Corinthos-Davis. As previously reported, the character was accepted to medical school at UCLA in California, making the end of the run for Mansi who played Kristina for three years.

The decision to depart GH was all Mansi’s decision and as also previously reported, GH executive producer Frank Valentini had left the door open for a return down the line and is currently not planning on recasting the part.

In story, in her final episode, having already said goodbye on Thursday’s show to her parents, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Kristina meets up with her siblings, Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Michael (Rory Gibson). The three have a chat at the Metro Court Gardens.

SIBLING ADVICE

Before she leaves Port Charles, Kristina tells her brother and sister, she wants them to be there for each other, while each is managing their personal relationships: Molly with Cody (Josh Kelly) and Michael with Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Kristina thanked them for taking her to the airport and urged them to lean on each other while she was gone.

In her last scene, Kristina tells Molly and Michael right before they head for her flight, “I want each of you to be the person the other can call. OK? To show up for each other, no questions asked. Because that’s what you’ve been for me.”

KATE’S NEXT MOVE

Speaking with TV Insider, Mansi shared what she is up to next which has included accompanying her husband, Matt McInnis to Europe. Kate explained she had made the decision a few months back to exit GH. “I knew my contract was up in April and I wanted to give them the proper notice so that they could plan their future storytelling.” Kate added, “Given that my husband is working in Europe predominantly and I’ll be traveling so much, that’s what this next chapter of my life will be.”

Kate expressed that the news of her exit was hard to share with people, because she would feel sad when talking about it. Ultimately, the first to know were Nancy Lee Grahn, Kristen Vaganos, and Rory Gibson. She chose not to tell Maurice Benard, because she was so close to him in real-life, until they filmed their last episode together which aired yesterday.

There’s more! Kate gave a final tease that she has project in the works sharing, “I’m excited to have booked a short-term project in the fall that works within my schedule.” As to a future return to GH, Mansi doesn’t rule it out, “It’s Port Charles. Anything is possible.”

So, what did you think of Kate’s final scenes as Kristina with Sonny, Alexis, Molly and Michael? Do you hope Kate come back in a few years time? Weigh-in via the comment section. In case you missed it, you can catch the scenes where Kristina tells her parents she is leaving Port Charles below.
