‘General Hospital’ Shares ‘We May Have Just the Part For Him’ in Response to John Oliver’s Quest For a Soap Role
General Hospital’s DMs are open and awaiting Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver to contact them after his rousing rendition of a scene from the ABC soap opera where he took on the role of Brick played by recurring cast member and ESPN sports personality, Stephen A. Smith.
Last week, Oliver made headlines by reimagining a scene of Brick’s on this late night talk show, but then admitting and hoping that someone would cast him on a daytime soap opera.
Well, it appears Oliver’s message has landed with GH’s producers and those-in-the-know! On Wednesday, March 18 in a Instagram message and video featuring Stephen A. Smith, he asked the question, “John Oliver, @LastWeekTonight, I have one question. Are you ready to commit!?”

Accompanying this at the top of the comment thread were some key words from the official General Hospital Instagram account, who expressed to Smith and to Oliver, “We may have just the part for him. Our DMs are open.”
As for Stephen A, after watching back the Brick scene with Oliver taking on the role, he shared, “You sure you ready for that? You sure you ready for the commitment that it’s going to take, John Oliver? Because this is serious. This is serious!”
Smith also gave the late night talk show host, some pointers on playing the bad guy: “You gotta welcome being disliked, because contrary to what you might think about yourself, you’re a very likable guy; you’re a very, very likable guy. So you have to understand: You gotta be willing to be a bad guy. You gotta to embrace it. You gotta embrace it. You gotta love it. You got to love the hate, ’cause they end up loving you in the end.'”
Oliver previously said on a segment on the soaps, the important ingredients a said role would have to have for him included, murder, slapping, or being someone’s long-lost relative.

John said in full, “To all the soap operas out there, let me say this: I am officially offering myself to you. Write me a role, and I’ll be on your set so fast, it’ll make your head spin. I only have a few conditions: First, I don’t want to play myself, I want to be a character. And I want his name to be ridiculous. Also, I want to do something juicy — like murder or slapping or being slapped or being someone’s long-lost something — and, ideally, I’d like a dramatic closeup of my face. But in return, trust me, I will give my all to this performance.”
One actress who would love to be paired with Oliver is Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), who previously posted upon hearing Oliver would love a wacky soap role. “I want him,” wrote Grahn. “Alexis needs a hot love interest and it will be short termed without a lasting commitment since all her lovers eventually become psychopaths and die. #JohnOliver would make a perfect psychopath. It’ll write itself.” She later added, “How about John Oliver plays an immigrant that Alexis hides from ICE in her basement. There’s already a bed down there….and a ball gag! ”
So, John Oliver and General Hospital lets make this happen! GH fans, what role would you love to see John Oliver get to play on the ABC soap opera? Think fun and out of the box and let us know in the comment section.

I saw that segment and would definitely welcome John Oliver if he were given a part on GH. He only wants a bit part so that shouldn’t be too tough to figure what to put him in as. Hope it happens!
He can play a past love of Alexis who wisks her off her feet and takes her and her daughters to an enchanted kingdom far away never to be heard from again!
If only you could join them.
Keep the Davis’ take the Dottie.
Yes.
If only you could be kind to Dottie… she has as much right to post as you do… doesn’t she?
I would almost always agree with you on that. But, this is different. That poster has consistently made racist posts. Kindness only goes so far.
Oh.. I was not aware of that. I 100% agree… Mr. Fairman should block those, as he has stated previously that such posts would not be tolerated
I’m not racist how do you know I’m not black or any other race? Im just not woke. There is huge difference. Beyond the Gates which I have watched because I like Tamara Tunie very much but I don’t deserves the accolades this site heaps on it.
It’s too late to claim you’re not racist. There’s been too many occasions where Michael F has removed your derogatory posts (that included language I respectfully do not repeat here). Frequent readers of the comments on this site know exactly what I (and others) have pointed out.
Save us the victim or innocent act.
As I recall, you were bashing Beyond the Gates even before it aired. You also kept referring to it as “Beyond Them Gates.” Prejudging a show with a predominantly Black cast while utilizing racial stereotypes seems pretty racist to me.
That’s very well said!
I don’t have much sympathy for racists.
I have a feeling John Oliver will be a better actor than Kin Shriner.
Of course General Hospital would have the part for him… ridiculous, on an already bloated cast.
Scott, what he is proposing is a cameo appearance. Calm down.
I am calm, but it still doesn’t discredit my comment. It’s ridiculous, in an already bloated cast, to add someone else in. Cameo or not. It is not necessary. Instead of writing in a cameo, focus on the plethora of cast members, both regular and recurring.
Oh come on. It will be fun and very brief.
There’s more to life than getting bent out of shape by soap operas constantly.
Again, who said I am bent out of shape? And constantly? You must have me confused with someone else.
You tend to stick your nose up at people when they don’t have a photographic memory of shows and information about actors. You have done it to me and others. It’s very tiresome and I’m no longer responding to your posts.
Scott, while I respect your vast knowledge of the soap opera genre, I don’t get the impression that you’re a lot of fun at parties.
Was this necessary to post? No. It wasn’t. Just because I had a differing opinion does not mean you can spew that kind of stuff out there. You don’t know me, so please don’t make such assumptions. Plus, Michael has asked that it not be done in comments prior.
He’s a hypocrite that can’t take it when he dishes it out to other people. More people need to call him out on his double standards.
Michael (Fairman), please; you asked us to stop with these kinds of comments. How are they being allowed through? You’ve asked us to stop with personal comments like this, and I’ve done my best to steer clear of them, but Michael and Addy seem to prefer making them.
Seriously.
John Oliver would be a great addition to GH. Even in a bit, one day part, he certainly would add a lot of fun to the show!
He’d make a terrific, bumbling butler for the Q’s. I could see him driving Tracy bonkers. If I were John Oliver, I wouldn’t take any acting advice from Stephen A Smith.
Getting so confused with GH …it’s hard to keep up with all the new actors…and all these teenagers..what the heck. Let’s move on with some of the real story..whatever it is now. Don’t enjoy teenagers making out, etc. Been watching GH since the ’60s.. Also..you show 2-3 quick scenes and then a 5 minute long row of commercials….annoying!!!! Im forced to record and watch at night so I can fast forward past those commercials.
If only we could turn back the hands of time… too be honest.. I am just happy we still have one legacy ABC soap on the airwaves. Time does move on… sadly actor’s pass away or choose a different direction in their careers. Thank goodness for our memories and the great time machine called “youtube”.
What a mess ! 1 character takes a time out ( should have been a temporary recast) Hate seeing Marco die. It seems that whatever the fans want, Valentini does the opposite ! He makes Beyond the Gates very popular !
You don’t temporarily recast a key character unless it’s absolutely necessary.
Oh, btw, GH ratings are up compared to last year, so they’re doing something right

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ethan Lovett Hightails Out of the Country, Christian Howard Wraps His Stint

That was quick! Christian Howard, who now looks to have literally stepped in for Nathan Dean to wrap up a few episodes for the character of Ethan Lovett made a quick exit on Friday’s July 31 episode of General Hospital.
GH viewers were stunned earlier this week on the Monday, July 27 episode when a voiceover announcer shared that Christian Howard was now playing Ethan Lovett. Next, Ethan hits the sheets with Ava Jerome, played by three-time Daytime Emmy-winner, Maura West. All seemed to be moving forward when suddenly at the end of the Thursday, July 30 episode, Ethan spots newcomer Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) at the Metro Court Pool, and makes a quick getaway.
Then, it’s revealed after packing his bags at Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) house, that out of nowhere, Ethan received a lead on an incredible opportunity so he has to say goodbye to Lulu and run out of town and was leaving Port Charles.

RUNNING OUT OF TOWN
In fact, Ethan was in such a hurry, he forgot to say goodbye to Ava who had been waiting for him at the Metro Court pool. There is clearly a connection to Hudson and baby Phoebe after Ethan spotted the guy, because Ethan also glanced over to the baby and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) at the Metro Court pool, before he ran to Lulu’s to pack his things. All of this points to Howard being an emergency recast for Dean.
It’s definitely been a week of change on-screen on the ABC soap with the news of Maxie, Spinelli, James, Georgie and Bailey all suddenly leaving Port Charles for Australia, after Spinelli got an offer he could not turn down.
That exit was written because Kirsten Storms is at this time,, and the very foreseeable future, not returning to General Hospital and is living in Tennessee. As she had documented via her Instagram stories and posts, she has been going through several personal ordeals. In addition to Storms, Ryan Paevey also exited the series earlier this month when he ended his run as Cassius Faison, while leaving the door open for his return down the line.
So, will newcomers Kelly Kruger (Serena Baldwin), Dean Geyer (Tristan Roberts) and Troy Lennon Appel fill the void of the multitude of exits? What are your theories on Christian Howard’s departure as Ethan Lovett on GH? Let us know via the comment section below.

‘Knots Landing’ Favorite Donna Mills Joins ‘OnlyFans’

Donna Mills, who at 85-years-old is still turning heads, booking film and TV roles and co-hosting the We’re Knot Done Yet podcast with her Knots Landing pals, Michele Lee (ex-Karen) and Joan Van Ark (ex-Valene), is now joining the world of Only Fans.
The news came Mills herself in a statement, where she shared to Variety, “I’ve always appreciated the incredible support and encouragement I’ve received from my fans over the years. Social media has been a wonderful way to stay connected, but I’m excited to join OnlyFans because it offers the opportunity for a more personal and direct connection.”
While OnlyFans is primarily known for its steamy content, Mills is taking a different approach, explaining that she will be “sharing moments from my daily life, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and engaging with fans in a more meaningful way. It’s simply another platform to spend quality time with the people who’ve supported me throughout my career while staying true to who I am.”

WHY DID DONNA MILLS JOIN OTHER CELEBRITIES ON ONLYFANS?
Andy Bachman, CEO Creators INC who presides over OnlyFans also shared in a statement, “This is not about changing who she is. It is about giving her longtime fans more access to the personality, style and behind-the-scenes moments they already love. Donna has always been fearless and ahead of her time. She told me, ‘YOLO — let’s do it,’ and that perfectly captures her attitude. She is approaching OnlyFans on her own terms and creating a space that feels authentic, personal and completely true to her.”
Mill’s move to OnlyFans comes on the heels of others in Hollywood who are pivoting to the platform not only for its revenur, but to control their own narrative of what they want put out into the world about themselves. One example is Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie and Scary Movie fame, who told Variety that since April she has earned more than $1.2 million in seven days via her OnlyFans account.

While Donna Mills is best- known for her role as Abby Cunningham Ewing on Knots Landing from 1980-1989, 1993, she also won a Daytime Emmy for her role of Madeline Reeves on General Hospital. Mills played the evil mother to Nina Reeves (then Michelle Stafford) and sister to Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) from 2014-2015 and again in 2018.
The veteran actress also had a leading role in the soap opera, Love is a Many Splendored Thing, where she and GH’s late, great sister, Leslie Charleson (ex-Monica Quartermaine, GH) played sisters Laura and Iris Donnelly from 1967-1970. Mills began her soap career on The Secret Storm back in 1966.
So, what do you think of Donna Mills joining OnlyFans? Do you think the once exclusive provocative content platform, which is going more Hollywood, will ultimately be where big named celebrity post their own content? Share your thoughts via the comment section below, and in case you missed it, you can check out the Michael Fairman Channel’s most recent chat with Donna Mills from earlier this year and our livestream with Donna, Michele and Joan from 2025 below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Troy Lennon Appel Makes His Debut as ‘Hudson’: Is He a New Love Interest for Josslyn? Baby Phoebe’s Bio-Dad?

Towards the conclusion of the Thursday, July 30 episode of General Hospital, Troy Lennon Appel made his debut asa “mysterious and shady businessman” going by the name of “Hudson.”
The person who first saw Hudson was none other than Ethan Lovett, who is now played by another soap newcomer Christian Howard, who replaced the exited Nathan Dean in the role.
From the looks of things, Ethan was not at all happy to see Hudson at the Metro Court Pool. It looks as though Ethan doesn’t even want Hudson to know he is in the same town. So, how do these two know each other? Is Hudson the father of baby Phoebe? Is Hudson possibly a Quartermaine? Like Dillon Quartermaine … or someone else from the Q clan? Stay tuned.

TROY LENNON APPEL JOINS KELLY KRUGER AS THE LATEST ARRIVALS ON-SCREEN TO GH
Meanwhile, for his premiere airdate, which also marked the first on-screen episode of Kelly Kruger as Serena Baldwin, Troy spoke to TV Insider and shared a bit about the character he’s playing and more.
Appel expressed, “Hudson is a shady businessman, and you’re not clear as to his motives, He goes one way, but then leans the other, and so he kind of keeps you on your toes. So far, what I’ve played, this guy is way cooler than I am, so it’s been so cool to play him. But he’s just been a force to be reckoned with so far, and I’m not even entirely sure as to all of his intentions in Port Charles. I’m excited to see where his journey goes, because I’m very lucky to be playing this character.”
As GH casting lore goes, Troy actually read for the role of Joe Fitzpatrick that went to Jonathan Bennett, but the producers were impressed by him that they created the role of Hudson with Appel specifically in mind. And stand by … according to Appel, he screen-tested with Daytime Emmy-winner, Eden McCoy (Josslyn).
So, is Hudson the new man for Josslyn? All Appel would say was, “I did a chemistry read with Eden much later when I kind of cemented that I was going to be playing another character, and it all just happened and I’m insanely grateful that it did.”
With Troy Lennon Appel, Kelly Kruger, Christian Howard, and Dean Geyer (whose character of Tristan was revealed to have ties with the WSB) all appearing on the latest episode of General Hospital, was it jarring for you, or are you excited for what’s to come? Weigh-in via the comment section.
