‘General Hospital’s’ Nancy Lee Grahn Wants ‘Last Week Tonight’s’ John Oliver Cast as Alexis’ ‘Hot Love Interest’

Earlier this week, ‘Last Week Tonight’ host John Oliver delivered a ten-minute segment on daytime soap operas and how he would love to play a part on one. He cited how ESPN Sports Personality, Stephen A. Smith recurs as Brick on General Hospital, and even showcased how he would act in a soap with a reenactment of the a scene from the ABC soap opera.

Oliver is now offering himself to any soap opera who will write a part for him. On ‘Last Week Tonight’, he shared to the cameras,”To all the soap operas out there, let me say this: I am officially offering myself to you. Write me a role, and I’ll be on your set so fast, it’ll make your head spin. I only have a few conditions: First, I don’t want to play myself, I want to be a character. And I want his name to be ridiculous. Also, I want to do something juicy — like murder or slapping or being slapped or being someone’s long-lost something — and, ideally, I’d like a dramatic closeup of my face. But in return, trust me, I will give my all to this performance.”

One actress who thinks he would make a perfect on-screen love interest is General Hospital’s three-time Daytime Emmy winner, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis). In a whimsical post on Threads, Grahn responded to Oliver wanting a role written for him on a soap opera.

“I want him,” wrote Grahn. “Alexis needs a hot love interest and it will be short termed without a lasting commitment since all her lovers eventually become psychopaths and die. #JohnOliver would make a perfect psychopath. It’ll write itself.” She later added, “How about John Oliver plays an immigrant that Alexis hides from ICE in her basement. There’s already a bed down there….and a ball gag! ”

Grahn’s comments come as Alexis has a history of picking men that somehow die, such as Dr. Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan), Julian Jerome (William deVry), among others. Speaking of the ‘bed and the ball gag’, Grahn is referencing the recent GH storyline where Alexis conspired with Ava (Maura West) and Kristina (Kate Mansi) to hide and keep captive her ex, Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst), bound and gagged in her basement.

Is Nancy on to something here? Would John Oliver playing a short-term love interest for Alexis who turns out to be a psychopath and dies, be the perfect guest star role for the late night talk show host? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

Alesis one night stand ?

It would be hysterical!!! Powers that be at GH, get that man!!! John Oliver would certainly give your ratings a boost! Alexis would be perfect for John Oliver!

It would be heaven. I have been a fan of John Oliver’s for 20 years. I appreciate how he gives attention to stories that the media doesn’t cover. He doesn’t sacrifice his comedy for the sake of reporting a story. He’s a comedian who actually serves a purpose. I would love to see him hook up with NLG.

I would LOVE to see John Oliver on GH. He would be a great addition even if short term. I hope @frankvalenti or someone on his team is reading Michael Fairman’s website. GH needs a little livening up!

Dear GH, please offer John Oliver a role. He would be fantastic!

The beauty of what John Oliver did is that he gave attention and respect to the soap opera genre by saying,”I love soap operas!” on Last Night with John Oliver. Good for him! I only hope that now that Paramount doesn’t cancel his show since they’ve now acquired control over HBO. Oliver has not held back on his criticism Tangerine Mussolini.

Nancy needs to pay attention who she advocates for. The guy has spewed a one-sided, ignorant, bordering-on- antisemitic narrative on Israel. Disgusting. Speaking of which Steven Smith had vile lunatic conspiracy theorist Candace Owens on his podcast and gave her accolades. Maybe next they’ll cast Nick Fuentes and Tucker Carlson.

You are so wrong on about John Oliver, and I strongly object to the use of loosely throwing the label “ antisemitic” around without any evidence to support such an unfair accusation. I doubt you even watch his show. Standing up to Netanyahu and his crimes against humanity is not being antisemitic. We need to embrace the manta”never again” when thinking of the annihilation of a certain group of people based on religion/race. You don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to John Oliver.

Calling out a genocidal regime in Israel is not “antisemitic”. Nothing John Oliver has said can be compared to Klandace Owens or Little Nazi Nicky Fuentes.

I’m Jewish and can see why you think that. However, I’m not a drama queen like other people on this website.

I’m Jewish as well, and I can assure you that those who speak up against Netanyahu’s atrocities and corruption are not antisemitic anymore than those who speak up against Trump’s crimes are not treasonous. Also, putting comedian John Oliver in the same camp as Candace Owens is ridiculous. I hope Oliver gets a cameo on a soap, preferably on Days as I don’t watch GH. But I might tune in if he gets a spot on GH.

I was defending Lisa’s right to her feelings, but I’m going to end this conversation and respect Michael Fairman’s wishes that we don’t cross talk.

So let me get this straight. You’re saying we shouldn’t correct someone when they make false statements about the subject at hand ( ie, John Oliver is an antisemite who is in the same camp as Crazy Candace Owens) but we should tell we then we understand their feelings? Do I have that right?

No that is not what I said, but I apologize if that’s how you interpreted it. It wasn’t my intention to offend anyone. Good day to you.

I’m sorry if that is how it came across because it wasn’t my intention to offend anyone.

Two words: Fatal Attraction.
“I’m not going to be IGNORED, DAN!”
Add bunny, boil and serve. ( @johnoliver – you’re welcome )

Oliver’s show typically breaks in December and January, starting back in February. Maybe his schedule would be free, giving GH about a year lead time to create a fun story arc for early 2027. And pairing him with Nancy (and Diane) would be absolute gold!

I would actually love to see him with either Diane or Alexis on GH.

I would also love to see him cast on Beyond The Gates.

BAD NEWS FOR EMMA

Laura and Mac arrive an reveal how Anna escaped and made it to the border but she was now in custody of the French authorities and they are transferring her to a long term mental illness facility, which freaks out Emma just as Gio arives, and she runs into his arms. Laura says at this point, Anna needs a strong advocate and will make a call on her behalf.

At the Metro Court pool, Curtis (Donnell Turner) is arrested by Detective Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) after throwing a punch at Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson). Joe takes Curtis to the station, where Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) tells Fitzgerald to remove Curtis’ handcuffs. Now inside the interrogation room, Curtis explains that he believes Isaiah left he and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) dead at the side of the road the night of the accident and provoked him.

BROKEN HAND, BROKEN MAN

Curtis just wants to put it all behind him and says he will pay for Isaiah’s medical ills, but Dante informs him, he is trouble and he needs to call a lawyer. He calls Jordan. Meanwhile, Isaiah gets looked at at General Hospital, and is hand is messed up. He comes to learn he will need multiple surgeries not only for broken bones but two tendons were severed in the process. Isaiah realizes his surgical days are number possibility forever, if not for a very long time.

JOSSLYN FINDS ANNA’S MESSAGE

While being held hostage, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) tries again to convince Cassius (Ryan Paevey) to set her free. That leads into the two playing cards and Cassius asking Josslyn how she got into the WSB. Josslyn admits her boyfriend was murdered and she killed the person who was the culprit for retribution. She says she put together all the pieces that he did the crime and now this line of work gives her purpose.

In the shocking final moments, after Cassius leaves for the night, Josslyn heads to the cot in the other part of the holding room and sees a hand-carved message on the wall from Anna that she was there an help captive on October 31, 2025.  We fade to black.

So what did you think of the concern Emma shows for Anna, and the performance of Braedyn Bruner? What are your very initial impressions of Jonathan Bennett as Joe Fitzgerald, and who is annoying you more in the story …  Curtis, Jordan, Portia or Isaiah? Weigh-in via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’s’ Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna Deliver the ‘Power Performances of the Week’

Published

on

By

The on-screen father/son combo of General Hospital’s Dante and Rocco Falconeri as portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were part of high emotional stakes scenes on episodes airing May 11-15.

First, Finn Carr’s Rocco is so guilt-ridden and burdened with the secret that he shot WSB director, Ross Cullum that it’s eating him alive. So much so, that he gets into a heated argument with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Rocco feels so badly that Danny’s father was taken from him for parts unknown by the WSB, all because Jason refused to implicate Rocco as the shooter.

In a heartbreaking scene, Rocco shows up at Britt’s door and lets her know he can’t take it anymore and that the secret he is keeping is tearing him apart. The fear is palpable in Rocco’s eyes. Britt calls Rocco a hero for saving her life and Jason’s and he has to remember that. Britt hugs him and promises that he can come talk to her anytime. In that moment, Rocco felt seen and felt safe.

ROCCO ON THE EDGE

All of the beats mentioned above were played with depth and acting maturity by Finn Carr; that it is so very clear why the writers and the producers are so comfortable giving him the ball in this umbrella story. He steps up to the plate every time and hits it out of the park.

Rocco also overheard his parents fighting over him after Dante figured out that Rocco was responsible for the shooting, and confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins) for withholding the truth from him. As their argument escalated and their relationship was further threatened by the lies, Rocco listened to the whole thing from the outside porch.

Eventually Dante, who had learned the truth by having Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) help him piece together what happened the night Cullum was shot, has a heart to heart with his son. He asks Rocco to tell him in his own words the events that transpired, and promises Rocco, that even though he is the police commissioner, he is going to help him. Rocco goes step by step over how Cullum was about to strike Jason with a weighted-baton and how the gun was loose on the ground and he shot him. Dante says his actions saved Jason and Britt’s life, and that he is going to help his son from here on out. He just wished everyone had come to him sooner, because as the father it’s his job to protect his son, not the other way around.

DANTE COMES TO TERMS

Still later in the week, Dante is visited by Elizabeth, and they discuss how they are going to cover-up any evidence that Rocco was at the hospital the night of the shooting with a hand injury, and that Dante is going to make sure the evidence against Rocco disappears. Something that is a huge disconnect for anyone that knows what a fine and upstanding cop Dante has been through the years, but he is determined to help his son stay safe and to keep him close.

However, Cullum is on the hunt for said evidence, and thinks Danny may have shot him in the back (or does he … and he knows Rocco shot him?). He visits Dante’s office and wants the evidence in the shooting. Meanwhile, bets are we are a few story beats away from Danny learning Rocco shot Cullum.

Throughout all the material given to Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna they rose to the occasion. Finn, getting the opportunity to play the often uptight Rocco on the edge, and Dominic, showing us how he can make us feel what Dante is feeling just by watching the emotion and hurt in his eyes. Therefore, Michael Fairman TV names Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna our picks for the Power Performances of the Week.

Now below, let us know if you agree with our picks of Finn and Dominic as the standout performances of the week, and if so, what moment really tugged on your heartstrings featuring Rocco and/or Dante via the comment section.
