General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ned Wakes Up and Thinks He’s Eddie Maine
How many of you were betting that when Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) woke up from his twilight sleep, while recovering from a traumatic fall into the Metro Court pool, that he would have amnesia and think he is rock star, Eddie Maine?
If you guessed that would be the outcome, you would be correct! On Friday’s cliffhanger for ABC’s General Hospital, TJ (Tajh Bellow) who is overseeing Ned’s case informs Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), that he is about to bring Ned out of his sleep. He shares he is very optimistic about his chances for a full recovery. The good doctor shares he will evaluate Ned’s cognitive state after he wakes up.
And like clockwork, and to save Nina (Cynthia Watros) in story from certain downfall (Ned overheard that she turned Carly and Drew over to the SEC), the patient woke up with amnesia believing he was his rock-star alter-ego from the past, Eddie Maine!
When TJ asked him what year was it, Ned answered “2023”, when TJ asked what city where they in, Ned correctly said, “Port Charles”, but when TJ called him Ned, he stopped him, by saying, “My Name is Not Ned. It’s Eddie Maine.” The Q’s in the hospital room were left in shock by his declaration.
Viewers first met Eddie Maine, back in 1993 when wanting to be rock star, and not a business man, Ned met the manager of the band The Idle Rich in Lois Cerullo. For the next year, he led a double life falling in love with Lois, but also be involved with manipulative Katherine Bell.
This current story twist opens the door for Wally Kurth to hopefully sing on the long-running ABC soap opera, puts Brook Lynn on course to manage her father’s ‘music’ career out of desperation to help him, and will give Nina something to continually try to suppress … not having Ned’s memory return.
So, what did you think of the story twist … Ned thinks he’s Eddie Maine? Let us know in the comment section below.
What a twist! And on top of that, Rena Sofer is available now ever since her B&B departure to return as Lois… how fun would that be!?
I was personally thrilled and hope that this brings the now available arena Sofer back to Port Charles
This storyline is 666% ridiculous. Obviously it’s just this regime propping up Nina again, as Ned had discovered her role in the SEC dragonshit literally minutes before cracking his head open.
The ONLY way they could get something good out of this is if it brought Rena Sofer back as the real Lois Cerullo… because that’s exactly who “Eddie Maine” would expect to see waiting for him.
So sick of Nina. How long are they going to drag this storyline with her and sonny out. I hope sonny dumps herDonny. Nina is a royal pain in the ass
Totally agree.
I agree 1000%. I’m so sick of Nina getting away with everything. These writers are failing.
Please replace “Nina” with “Carly” and you’ll the sentiments of many others here.
You said it for me, Steve. I hate how they’re trying to make Nina the villain in this scenario. On the heels of discovering that Carly actively sought to keep the identity of Willow’s mother secret, Carly emotionally sucker punches Nina. Carly is not at all remorseful about what she did and gloats to Nina about the role she’s playing in Willow’s wedding- a wedding Nina wasn’t invited to but Sonny was. Carly suffered no repercussions from Drew (to whom she lied over and over)or her family. Nina acted on impulse and immediately regretted it. Laura Wright recently said at the GH
Convention that Carly would have done the same thing to Nina. However, Wright maintained that unlike Nina, Carly would have no regrets. Now Nina is going to be blamed for ruining Willow’s wedding, Toddler Ned’s amnesia, Drew going to prison, climate change and COViD.
Agree 100% with everything you said Harry. More than 100%. I personally can’t stand it. Even knowing it’s fiction, it’s too frustrating to watch and reading Nina haters off-the-wall views on Nina equally maddening. They, like the characters in the show, give Carly a pass for everything she does, and that’s if they think she did anything wrong in the first place. I’d say most of them don’t. Sorta like defending Trump. What insurrection? What nuclear secrets? What’s the big deal? He was right to incite an insurrection, he had a right to take home govt documents that belong to the people, it’s no big deal that he put the country at risk. What about Hillary? What about “Brandon?” lol
Jean
So sick of her. She’s also hiding in the background like a little lost soul. Sonny always needs a women in his life, so give him back Carly!!
Agree
I was thinking the exact same thing
She is . But it’s going to come out I think either through the fcc or her buddy. I can’t think of her name.
Thank God I’m not the only one that’s sick of Nina and her crap.
Agree
Agree
Me too absolutely too drawn out
“Propping up Nina?” They’re using her a a punching bag! First they had her in a come for over 20 years, then she has a breakdown, then she can’t have children, she’s conned by Sasha and Valentin to believe she found her daughter, she’s lied to by Harmony, Carly, and kept from finding out the truth of who her daughter (then daughters) are/were. She’s lied to by Carly, but no one even blinked an eye that Carly was never going to tell her that Wiley is her grandson, she was treated and is treated like the town pariah because she didn’t tell anyone Sonny was alive, while no one thinks anything of Carly not letting Nina know she has a grandson, she’s treated like dirt, “banned” from Wiley, not “allowed” to meet Amelia or even attend her own daughter’s wedding, all the while Carly is being embraced and is “dearly loved” by Nina’s daughter who Carly hisses “hates” her.
Nina is not being “propped up.” She’s being torn down piece by piece and it’s excruciating to watch. The writers, as usual, have most rallying around Carly while everything that Nina does will come back to her. Carly? She can lie for a year, pay a woman to lie to Drew’s face, intend on keeping Nina from her child for the rest of her life, and nothing. Carly skates as always.
I’m not sure what the show’s intent was here but they’re keeping it going because it has the viewers at each others throats which means they’re watching the show. It would be different if this was truly Carly vs Nina, with each woman having friends and family in their corner. But that’s not his one-sided story. It’s Carly and her clan having Nina like a cornered rat trying to find the best way out for even trying to get revenge on Carly, who started this entire mess when she chose not to tell Nina about Nelle or Wiley.
Can’t stand it. Just give Nina her daughter already! How much loss and struggle does a woman who was a victim in the first place have to go through just to be reunited with a child who was taken from her!
Love your rants, Rebecca. This might sound odd but when I watch the darkening forces that are Carly, Joss, Willow, Michael and Olivia close in on Nina, I’m reminded of that poor woman who “ won” the lottery in Shirley Jackson’s short story,” The Lottery.”
Well thank you Harry. I think…I’ve never been so flattered to be complimented for “ranting.” LOL. But you’re so right. When feeling rage one typically rants; and this never-ending Nina bash-fest provokes both: rage and rants. You and I were always on the same “page.”
I never read The Lottery so after reading your reply to me I just did! Found it online. Yeah; I see your analogy. Though in our story, Nina has to endure the stoning over and over again. I feel like she’s one of The Walking Dead, to use another analogy. They’ve killed her 100 times over but she keeps getting back up.
I can’t believe what they’re doing to her. After Carly’s year-long lies we’d hoped that FINALLY Carly would pay! But nope; once again Carly is “dearly loved” (Willow’s words that made me want to hurl) and forgiven in hours, while Nina does the walk-of-shame for wanting to get the witch away from her daughter and out of their lives. Justifiably so. At some point Neddie/Eddie will remember and then what? Once again Nina will be the pariah and Willow will again “hate” her even if at that point they’ve grown close? It’s too frustrating. It’s Carly/AJ/Michael or Carly/Ava/Avery all over again. “Mama” Carly is loved by all her enemies kids…
The show needs writers who can break from the Carly takes-all-tradition, rejects the Carly kool-aide fans, and write a balanced story.
I am eternally sick of Carly being bulletproof. Everyone has such convenient amnesia about every horrible thing she does. I am past sick of her. Nina is fallible and has done some messed up things, but Carly’s sins outweigh hers by far and no one appears to realize this.
Well said, Cheryl.
Hmmm, wasn’t it Nina who tried to cut Ava’s baby out. . .
Yeah, based on that alone, neither Ava or Sonny should want anything to do with her, and in any sane version of soap writing, one or both of them would have put a contract out on her years ago.
At least he didn’t think he was Buddy Love. Or worse yet, Johnny Bravo.
Oh Harry, I don’t know what’s worse.. having two amnesia stories (Esme the other one) at the same time or having a geriatric wannabe rock star roaming around Port Charles. Let’s face it, he’s not Mick Jagger. And does ANY viewer really have much investment in the Carew (Darly?) SEC investigation? To me, it’s just another way to insert Carly and Sonny into every single storyline. I’m surprised Sonny isn’t in there helping Molly and TJ have a baby. Yet.
Your descriptive writing skills are so spot on, Soaphound. The whole storyline is absolutely ridiculous. I roared with ribald laughter when Ned gleefully toddled toward Drew while waving his arms only to take a flying leap into the pool. I replayed that scene over and over. And just when Olivia had finally calmed down about Nina. The only bright spot in this mess is Tracy, who told hysterical Olivia to calm down because Ned has already lost enough oxygen. Tracy is the medicine we didn’t know we needed.
OMG Harry! I thought Ned running toward Drew was hilarious! I played that scene over and over too! I actually love Wally Kurth. That dimpled face, so proud of himself as he’s running to expose Nina, and bam, bam, boom, splash! I’m laughing a I’m typing. GH needs some levity; they should rename the show GH: Where Characters Go To Die.”
I refuse to watch Gregory’s story if they’re sticking with his diagnosis. Of all the depressing horrible back-to-back fatal illness stories, from Britt’s Huntingtons to Gregory’s diagnosis? No. Gregory Harrison is a delight; charming, good looking and his character, warm, a great family man, cultured. I love the father/son relationship he has with both Finn & Chase. Love the three of them. Gregory was the perfect man for Alexis; intellectually challenging, honest, good, etc. But instead of doing a happy, romantic story, the idiots of GH thought, “Hey, let’s give him one the worst diseases imagineable and instead of killing off another of Alexis’s men, she can watch him deteriorate for years!”
Ugh. So, ya; if I could watch Ned running with toddler-like glee, trip over a towel and do a belly flop over and over again over Gregory’s story, that’d make my soapy day!
“Hey, Drew! I have something to tell y……..”
Rebecca 1,
I feel the same way about Alexis and Greyory and I’m hoping that something like an emergency brings him to GH and on examination will reveal that he has something else curable and he was misdiagnosed.
That’s what I’m hoping Violet. But then again I’d hoped that would have been the case with Britt and her Huntingtons but nope; they never wavered that she had it. I thought when Austin brought the specialist in she’d give her good news and we’d find out Victor or Peter had messed with the results to mess with Dr. O and Britt…
I think when they bring up these fatal diseases, it’s hard to say, “oops! fooled ya” because there are viewers who either have it or have loved ones who do, so I think it’s rather cruel to imply you’re going to bring awareness and then not. I just wish they’d stop with ALL of their “informative health stories.” They’re incredibly depressing and soaps shouldn’t be the place people go to get information. Soaps should be a fantasy; escapism. GH has been doing back-to-back morbid, fatal, illness stories. Some seem to enjoy them and defend it with “it has ‘hospital’in the title.” I don’t care what it has in the title. I don’t watch shows to watch ongoing sickness and loss. Back in the day they had the occasional story but other than Stone, most had a happy ending. Maxi’s transplant, Joss’s transplant, Danny’s bone marrow, Ava’ survived leukemia, Monica and Alexis survived cancer etc. Now it seems they run contests in the writers room on how fatal the next disease will be. Give me DOOL any day with their cray cray but fun stories.
I’m hoping the Eddie Maine story will be fun. I’m glad to see Wally Kurth actually getting a story; I’d like them to remember that Mac has been waiting to come out of the discarded vets pile for years. His few lines every few months is a soapy sin.Let him and Cody begin their father/son journey; on camera; not off, lol.
Rebecca
To little fault of the writers, the decision to have Britt die was poorly timed. Britt’s death scene was already filmed when Sonya Eddy passed days before it aired. With Jackie Zeaman’s passing, the writers have to work in a third senior level hospital employee death in less than a year. Hindsight is 20/20 – and the show would’ve not killed off Britt if they knew the shocking other deaths they’d have to write in.
Rebecca, maybe that’s why Ned morphed into Eddie Maine. Ned subconsciously realized how dorky and toddler-like he looked, so he retreated into the cool persona of Eddie Maine.
LOL. Soaphoud—Give it time. Both Carly and Sonny will be in Molly’s and TJ’s boudoir giving instructions and positions.
Sick, sick. Sick of Wu and Gladys, too.
Sooner or later “Sash” needs to exit to give birth—what of Gladys?
Ha ha ha that’s funny
I didn’t watch GH back in the 90s for I was hard core CBS ATWTs and GL in that era but once those shows came to a close, I moved over to GH as did a number of the actors. I love the idea of revisiting Eddie Maine. Love Ned and Olivia together and we don’t get enough of them, but if Rena returns as Lois, whose character I don’t know but miss her as Quinn on B&B, this might be a ton of fun to watch. The fact that Laura and Kevin and Lucy and Martin and Leisle and Scottie and probably Anna and Valentin are all going on vacation or working on other projects over the summer, this should be a good storyline with multiple characters. The only thing is we are getting closer to when the writers went on strike from an airing time perspective…
Not a fan of the whole Eddie Mane scenario. The amnesia is fine, but that’s good enough. If Tracy were my mother, I would want to forget her.
Hahaha! I love Tracy. She gives attitude and craziness to the show. She always shakes it up.
Jennifer,
I still don’t like Tracy, but she came through for Leo when he needed reassurance about his dad.
Not a fan of the whole Eddie Mane scenario. However if Tracy were my mother I would want to forget her.
Lol. So true on all of it.
Wonder if Wally and Rena get along in real life – they are divorced after all…
Yes they do. The only reason she didn’t return as Lois ,when they brought her back when Anna Lee passed was because Frank never asked. There is a Photo Rena posted of her and Himself with their daughter .
Your comment on Rena returning isn’t true. Frank was not the EP when Anna Lee passed. Lesli Kay had already assumed the role of Lois before Lila died.
Ok i guess Rena is lying then since she said on Maurices podcast, that she wasnt asked back at anytime they brought Lois back, even when frank was involved not at EP but he was involved with the show.
Frank’s only role at GH has been EP. He got his start at One Life to Live working up the ranks to be the final EP. Once OLTL was cancelled, Frank took over as EP at GH.
I wouldn’t doubt that Jill Phelps didn’t ask her back when they (woefully) cast Lesli Kay.
I never watched GH during the time of Eddie Maine. But okay … gives Nina more time to dig her grave even deeper.
Not into anymore amnesia stories. And want Ned to rat out Nina finally
Rat out Nina? Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Carly the one who broke the law?
Yes although that may be true I’m over the Nina and Sonny pairing up I still think Carly and Sonny and hell they need to bring back Jason but those guys made for actioned packed storylines it just workes
Yea,I’ll even send her a new shovel.
Ned waking up and thinking he is Eddie Maine is just about one of the stupidest storylines GH has put out. I definitely will be fast forwarding through his scenes.
Kori,
It should be fun. I knew he’d have amnesia just didn’t think he’d think he was someone else.if he’s lucky he’ll have forgotten Tracy, dear ole mom. Can’t stand that woman. I thought the other day in the stable she’d analyze Leo, saying there’s nothing wrong with him, he’s just being difficult.
I can’t decide which current “memory loss” storyline is more idiotic…
Is it this one, or Abe Carver (on Days) being held hostage by some psycho who has the same dumb wig as his wife, but otherwise doesn’t look like her at all.
Probably have to go with Ned. Because while both stories are ridiculous wastes of time, at least Abe isn’t being used to prop up one of the worst characters in the history of Salem. But Ned is just the latest plot point in GH’s toilet spiral into becoming the Parasite Nina Praise & Worship Hour.
Totally agree.. no offense but we’ve been there , done that ..this is dragging on too long and I don’t need to see Eddie Maine singing singing again.. fast forward if they drag this out for more than a week or 2
I am not surprised at Ned waking up with amnesia, just another excuse not to expose Nina for the backstabbing witch she is! Don’t get me wrong,I like Nina but I love Carly. It’s time for Nina to go down!
I don’t like it because, I wanted him to destroy Nina for the person that she is.
I agree Nina needs to go down now The store line is dragging out way too long connect Carson back together please
Not too enthused! I want Nina to get out of Sonny’s life. She’s nauseating!
It’s rediculious because it was so predictable that something dumb like this would happen, can’t wait till this incident is Over.
Good , something a bit different,
I so want to see Nina’s comeuppance!
I think Nina has received her comeuppance time and time again. Carly is the one who hasn’t received her comeuppance.
Really? Nina lied and stole her husband and then took her hotel .. I love how people rewrite history to back the “character “ they like. I’d say they are even in the bad deed department but against each other .. Nina is the one due for some karma .. personally I’d like to see it come out of the blue from her pal Ava .. she cut her baby out her!!! Who forgives that???
Everything you state here is untrue.
1. Nina didn’t steal Carly’s husband. Sonny turned to Nina after Carly turned him down again and again.
2. Nina also did not steal Carly’s half of the Metro Court. Carly lost it due to her recklessness and foolishness. Nina tried to sell it back to her but Carly being Carly, turned her down.
3. And finally, Nina did NOT cut Ava’s baby out of her womb. That’s emphatically not true and can be fact checked. I swear, this is a rumor that will not go away. Nina, who was mentally ill at the time due to PTSD, did kidnap Avery as a newborn. She gave the baby back and was sent to a mental ward. Someone said this crazy rumor came out when Carly Taylor Greene blurted it out to Nina in a fit of one of her rabid-rages.
Moreover, no matter what heinous actions Carly commits, she is propped up and adored by Michael ,Willow, Joss, Drew, and Olivia. She’s treated like a conquering hero. Meanwhile for the last 3 years the aforementioned crew scream red-faced at Nina every time she deigns to breathe air in their vicinity. She’s treated like a pariah and is constantly groveling at everyone’s feet. That demonic Willow turns her head completely around whoever Nina’s name is mentioned and claims that the murderous sex trafficker Harmony, was a better mother than Nina.
I hate the way this is going, so tired of the repeats. Bring Jason back.
Absolutely we need that character back to bring more fun watching action drama to the show. The store lines are getting way too boring
Bring Jason back from the dead? Talk about repeats lol!
As I see from different people, that would be fun watching to see Rena Sofar on GH!!
Marlene,
As long as she doesn’t use her wiles as she did on B&B going after other women’s men.
Nah, Lois only had eyes for Ned, back in the day. And some crazy fingernails….before that was even a “thing”. She probably invented the idea, actually.
Do not like this storyline we already have Esme with memory loss who needs another one
So, who is his wife to him?
Who is who’s wife? Don’t understand question.
Louis will be his wife.
I’m thinking he thinks he’s still married to Louis. Unless they start the story line before he married her. I hope not. That would be crazy. We need Nina to get caught already.
Didn’t like it, but I guess they had to delay the blow up from Nina’s fiasco.
I liked the twist, it gives Wally Kurth something to do, and it’s a fun nod to the past with the Eddie Maine stuff. I don’t mind it at all.
All the people salivating for Nina to get hers will still get what they want, there’s no question about that. Cause that’s what GH does. But personally, Carly is the one I’d like to see finally get hers. I like Laura Wright, but I’m just honestly so over Carly and her big mouth, and the way everything always has to be about her.
The fact that Nina is portrayed as a bad person for reporting an actual legitimate crime that was committed, that Carly and Drew are guilty of, is so backwards. But it fits with GH’s history of criminals being propped up as the good guys.
Dan,
I agree. I think it will fun with the Eddie Maine thing, so many possibilities. I’ve been bored to death with the Carly,Nina , Sonny stuff. Willow is just hanging on the vine these days, no ones paying much attention to her.
Dan I had to reply to you. I agree 1000% with you. I don’t need to repeat your words, every single word is true. GH overlooks that crowd of wrongdoers and so do their fans. SMH.
I agree Dan. On GH, down is up, right is wrong and wrong is right. I think Laura Wright is a terrific actress. But Carly wears a halo of righteousness no matter what she does while self- punishing Nina walks around in a hair coat. I am not looking forward to watching Round 10 of Carly, Drew, Joss, Michael Willow and caterwauling Olivia shriek into Nina’s face. It’s just not fun to watch and I’m tired of it.
Wow, i knew they were going to do this to Ned’s character! Why oh why couldn’t they just let him wake up and be himself and tell them it wasn’t me it was Nina who called the FCC on Drew and Carly.
But no the writers had to write this stupid story and let Nina get away again!
Liz,
Come on, how much fun would that have been? Hasn’t it been boring enough?
Count me in as camp Eddie Maine and Lois! It would be great to have Rena’s character back on canvas interacting with Olivia, Brooklynn, and Tracy in a summertime storyline, definitely! ❤
Why Ned want to be rock star? How long Nina have now? Don’t you think her daughter is wrong?
Bring back Rena Sofer, she was hot
Many of you complaining about this plot twist have also been asking for the vets to get more screen time. Well, hello Ned is now a key figure in a top storyline. Tracy is sticking around for a while and making her presence known.
Yes, in the past, Eddie was just Ned knowingly pretending to be someone else. Will this turn into a DID story (a soap trope we haven’t seen since Connie/Kate)? I’m interested to see how far they’ll take this and what Wally brings to the table.
If they really wanted to go way back, have Eddie Maine bonk his head again and wake up as massage therapist Ward. Unfortunately, you’d need Monica for that storyline.
ConKate wasn’t the last DID story on GH, but it’s understandable if you purged the “Fluke” storyline from your mind.
Of course “Fluke” didn’t start as DID. It only turned into that after Ron Carlivati had a temper tantrum because the audience figured out the (original) Bill Eckert plot months before he planned to reveal it, so he changed the story… never mind the previously shown scenes of Luke & Fluke physically in the same room (or padded cell) at the same time… or for that matter the fact that Luke was held prisoner in said padded cell while Fluke was stealing his life.
Only thing worse than that was the horrible exit story that followed, once Luke got rid of his imaginary friend.
Yes, my other personality must’ve taken over during that Fluke plot twist.
I am disappointed that he have to lose his memory because I am ready for the writers to move on to a new plot, how many people in real life threaten to turn somebody in then not brag to the face yes I told you I would do it no need to do it in secret.
Need to expose Nina a s.a.p. this storyline has been dragging too long. We need Ned to have full recovery with memory!
So tired of Nina and her whining about everything, if she is going to be the Mother – let’s get on with it. Everything doesn’t have to be such a dramatic happening. We could do with a bit of enjoyment once in a while. It all just gets so old. Nice to see Granny back for a visit.
Tracy (Jane Elliot) Is the fun we need during this mess of a storyline. Another amnesia trip is too much on GH. First Sonny, then Esme, and now Ned or Eddie. But so glad that Tracy is back with those great one-liners. Jane Elliott is the best and loved her also as Carrie on GL. Great actress! And the best is when she asked Leo what he knew about her and he said she “was mean.” Awwww, truth is spoken by a child.
They need to bring Nina down give Ned his MEMORY BACK TO DO THIS
I am hoping the same thing.
Stop giving Nina a break she needs to come clean or be brought down there is enough of this amnesia crap
I really got pissed when I saw this. I will FF through those scenes. Ridiculous that this is all they could come up with. Everything was going so good.
Ridiculous. Ned, Eddie Maine. Ridiculous.
I don’t like Nina. Think for a minute about a loved one lost and was alive but didn’t know who they were and a person who knows you and your family and sees your grief but doesn’t tell you your loved one is alive, how would you feel about that person? Nina terrorized Carly as did her daughter Nell. She owes Nina nothing but she should have told Willow so Willow could decide. Now once again, Nina jealously attacked Carly to get rid of her. How is she any different from Nell? End this madness GH and let Sonny see who she really is so he can kick her and Ava to the curb!
I am not sticking up for Nina but you do remember Nina did try to tell Carly about Sonny being alive and all Carly could do was scream at her and tell Nina she would make sure she would never be in Nina’s life but enough is enough Nina needs to grow up
I agree Nina that is emotionally stagnated. Cynthia even said so and and maintains that the 20 year coma that her own mother induced, made her very mentally young for her age. Cynthia has tried to be as character driven as the writers allow her to be while playing a woman who was so cruelly betrayed by her mother, lost 20 years of her life and who was told her baby ( babies?) had died. You factor all those aforementioned components, and you have a member of the walking wounded club with severe attachment disorder and deep insecurities.
GH needs a good clean-up—Wu’s overbearing presence seems to be controlling Port Charles. Gladys needs to go before Sasha falls into the psychiatrist’s mal-intentions—I bet the return-favor from Gladys iiiis; He WANTS Sasha—quid pro quo.
Celia,
I do believe you are right, in fact while watching him and his offer to Gladys today, I said to the TV, ah, you want Sasha don’t you, you S.O.B.?
For sure, Violet—LOL. Here’s another seedy Wu character thrown into this strange mix. They’re all from Mars. ..or at least, the writers are.
Nina and Sonny will end because Carly is too formidable to be with anyone but Sonny. All her men are wimps. Yeah—including Sonny… They are meant to be—
Nina is getting beaten from all sides—propped?? Don’t think so—she deserves a storyline which will show her true self—great mom, if given the chance—tender heart. Carly and FakeDrew committed a crime and should pay for it. Nina committed no crime here. She snitched —Carly drove her to it—she is an invincible virago!! Go kick some more ass, Nina!!
Nicely expressed, Celia. I just want Nina to stop being so fear based. I’d like her to own her actions and stop groveling.
Absolutely, Harry–Nina should fess up and proudly announce she snitched. I’m sure that if the shoe were on the other foot, Carly would have dragged Nina by the hair and through all the mud Carly, herself, left behind.
Nina should develop some class, let go of Sonny and stand up for herself. I have this gnawing feeling that “Nina” may be leaving?
Nina is ruining her chance with Willow by being Vindictive
Hi, Cynthia,
In my opinion, Willow does not deserve Nina as a mother. Considering what Nina has gone through—her child literally torn from her body—in a coma for twenty years–tricked by both Valentin and Sasha into believing Sasha was her child–etc—Nina made a lot of mistakes—horrible at that—but, she was very fragine, mentally !!
Any other “child” would have been thankful and grateful for her birth-mother, no matter what.
Vindictive? Nina? Maybe. But, I do not blame her one bit. Carly actually put Willow against Nina, in subtle, sneaky-Carly mode—Willow is a follower—she forgives Carly and Harmony, both criminals, but not her mother. I used to love Willow—now, she’s become a PC hypocritical elite.
Come what may, Nina should come clean and, as Harry said, stop “groveling”.
After many, many years, I’m on the verge of making the decision to stop watching GH.
I did the same with Days of our Lives last year
and I don’t miss it one little bit!!!
Can anything go right on these soaps?
There are enough trials and tribulations in life without watching it on TV day after day!
It’s actually stupid and hopefully it doesn’t drag out!
I think it’s ridiculous and drawn out and let Ned just get his memory back and Nina should pay the price for doing what she did enough is enough it gets to draw out and makes people lose interest
I love any time Eddy Maine shows up.
Can’t wait to see what comes of this.
Lois coming back is so awesome.
I just don’t want her reappearance to side track Ned and Olivia. Carly and Nina are Soap gold. Their rivalry is epic. Let’s not forget everything that has happened including Jason’s death is because Nina stole Sunny.
Can’t wait to see.
General Hospital
GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.
Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.
Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.
Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL
Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.
A VENGEFUL PAST
As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.
On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.
Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!
So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
