General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nikolas Turns To The Dark Side!

Courtesy/ABC
This week on ABC’s General Hospital looks like the turn is complete as Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) has decided to embrace his inner-Cassadine, as viewers learned it was the dark prince that fixed the mayoral race that cost Felicia (Kristina Wagner) a victory and helped Sloane (Rob Derringer) and Lomax to a corrupt win!
Meanwhile, Helena (Constance Towers) is so thrilled that she has tapped into Nikolas’ bad side, which he said he has been suppressing for such a long time while trying to make these failed relationships work with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) … and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst)! He reveals nothing has been the same since Emily died and he sick and tired of being good!
Later, Helena eggs on Nikolas by telling him, “What better way to seize your worth than by taking over ELQ!” This is what Helena seems to be priming Nikolas for! He then tells Helena, “Know there are lines I won’t cross, including hurting my family, even those who you don’t consider to be true Cassadines.” Helena pipes back, “Are you ready to become the man, I know you can?” And Nikolas states: “Yes … I am!”
Watch the turn when viewers learned Nikolas rigged the election after the jump, and then let us know if you are liking the turn to the dark side … or do you want good guy Nikolas back to sweep a damsel in distress off of her feet?
I think he’s trying to fake his grandmother out, get “the goods” on her and will then turn her in. Just a theory…
I thought the same as well….. “what a pisser”
meaning… I was instantly taken with his acting…. a new layer… i’m over the damsel in distress…. Nikolas is the genteel one… a chip of the ole block… ala Laura.
it’s so time for Tyler Christopher to layer his character…. this is riveting stuff for the fans of
oye! what a disappointment if this is how it turns : back. and ala back to boring Nikolas and “spence” steeling his show
I realize their are enough mobsters and bad men out their… but… give Nikolas some edge… a wily cutthroat business savy sexy manned up feast for the eyes
I agree with you, it’s time to get rid of grandma for GOOD . I’m also tired of the Fluke storyline.
Could be Nik is really working against Helena, but regardless, we have another example of the writing contradicting itself from scene to scene.
Helena tells Nik that he conspired with a Federal Agent to fix the Mayoral election; that he thought it would be to his advantage to control the Mayor’s office and the police department.
Nik tells her that he did it because love and life, those two things will never coexist as long as Emily is gone. (Whatever that means). He then went on that he never would have found love with Britt or Liz. That he was torturing himself and making a fool of himself. That he was sick of trying to be good, suppressing everything that comes natural to him.
Got it. Sounds silly but OK.
Next scene- 10 minutes later.
Nik said that Sloane approached him. He knew about Spencer and the ballot box and that he was going to look the other way—-FOR A PRICE—sweep it under the rug— if Nik was willing to help him with his plan, so he did.
So, the Emily reason was given and then in the very next scene, ten minutes later, the reason was given that Sloane would agree to overlook Spencer’s involvement, FOR A PRICE, which was Nik helping him with his plan.
Two separate and distinct reasons were given, one that has Nik turning evil and one where he was forced to pay a price for Sloane’s silence. Is no one else frustrated with writing that contradicts itself from scene to scene with no explanation?
Nik was using Emily as his undercover cover story/excuse as to why, to Helena
Sloane is the reason he is setting Helena up, to save Spenser..
two different things..
((never ever over think a soap) lol 🙂
Yes, I am frustrated with the disjointed, self contradictory writing too, AJQ. I am just tired of hearing myself talk and if I am tired of me, I cannot imagine how the rest of you might feel.
Good post, AJQ.
Of course, I am frustrated, AJQ( how witty, lol). Take it with a grain of salt. There are so many discrepancies and holes from scene to scene that we either go along with them or throw something at the screen. Please forgive the run-on sentence….had to get it all out.
Also, why is everything always blamed on Spencer? Poor, little scapegoat!
TPTB are making Nikolas look like the fool. I had mentioned earlier that it seems strange for him to make this complete180 without a solid, sensible explanation to substantiate this self-awareness. As you have written, none of his ‘reasoning’ is plausible ….it is senseless.
I’m with AJQ, Harry and CeeCee on this, frustrated.
As AJQ said, two separate and very distinct reasons were given within minutes of each other and were never tied together. The problem here is that the characters never addressed it in their conversation.
Had Nik just said something like, Sloane thought he had me in a corner, so I just went along, let him think that, because I wanted to do it anyway, then that would have been that. Now it’s all silly, the Emily reason and the fact that nothing would happen to a nine year old kid, but that’s not the issue.
The issue is that the writing is not professional. The plots and dialogue are disjointed, lack continuity, are contradictory, and lack character awareness. Who supervises this show? Anyone?
Nik’s words on Friday presented an interesting twist. I’d be surprised it he wasn’t trying to trick good old granny. Why else would he let her move in? Can’t be that desperate for company. What I’d love to see is for someone to do some programming on granny Helena like she had done on Jason. But, this time, program her to do good deeds? That would be a hoot of a plot and fun! Kind of like a Stepford version of Helena.
What a great and original idea, Max…hilarious, too. I can just see Helena bestrewing flower petals as she strolls through the tainted streets of PC.
I have to agree with you,Rodd. I think Nicholas is giving grandma what she wants and what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her until it’s time. As for the election, I’m holding judgement for now.
It wouldn’t make sense if he was doing it to protect Spencer. Dante and Nathan already told him he wouldn’t get in trouble ; a child fidhing a box out of the water is not deliberate tampering with votes…and Dante and Nathan implied that. I think Nicolas is disillusioned with life and is crossing a line…or…he, too is under Helena’s mind control. I also think Fluke is Luke…becoming Fluke when Helena controls him. I find it difficult to believe that she’d pass up an opportunity to taunt Luke knowing he was in the basement. I think Luke was fractured mentally by Helena while he was in miscavage…which is why she was able to allow Alexis and Julian to “save him” knowing full well she could control him after his rescue.
More thoughts later but Tyler looks like Michael Keaton in that last still frame!
I still say Kevin Costner
I’m so excited for Michael Keaton’ oscar nod though… so deserving
Michael Keaton was never better tho… in Jackie Brown… at HIS “finest”
Huh. I can see both. All three men are totally different, al good looking…lol…but I think it’s the mouth and “jowls.” Lol…look at the lower part of his face and then imagine Keaton. But I definitely see Cistner, too. Haven’t seen Keaton’s latest but I have no doubt he was excellent. Great actor.
Rebecca, you must be an artist to have been able to catch the resemblance between the two actors.
Patrick, I’m with you. I am also over the moon about Keaton’s comeback. I loved Birdman–seamless transitions between scenes and music and the sense of transcendence as seen with the bird emblem.
I always thought Nikolas seemed like Batman/Bruce Wayne anyway. He’s certainly fit enough to wear the suit. So resembling Keaton would not be a stretch.
YAHHHH! 🙂
It’s about time Nikolas flies the flag of his heritage and be a Cassadine !!
He has Cassadine blood/DNA and he should stop being a whimper boy and stand proud and strong as a Cassadine!
GO NIKOLAS -> CASSADINE !!
(I hope RC/team don’t pussyfy Nik and have him working with the FBI, that would really get me going.. heh
// Michael claimed his bloodline a Q ..
and Nik claiming his a Cassadine .. I luv it !!
Now how’d l knew you’d like it…i even said you would in my own comments below…lol
YEAH
manpower
“… he should stop being a whimper boy and stand proud and strong as a Cassadine! “
Nah…I’d rather Stefan come back and Nic team up with him…loved that whole period with Sefan, Katherine…the grand balls they used to throw at Wyndomere.the relationship between Alexis and the two of them…secret rooms..it was all rather enchanting back ” in the day…”
And that is why We NEED Laura back!!!
Nik is Laura’s soon as well…
With several people already leaving “GH” they should offer Genie a long-term contract, with a great storyline… Her children are dancing with danger, and it way past time She comes home!!!
Genie Francis was yesterdays news. lol. She will not come back to gh. Rumor is she will be back on Days of Our Lives as Diana.
Here’s what doesn’t make sense to me about this storyline: If Nikolas is still so heartbroken over losing Emily, why would he join his grandmother in going after Emily’s (adoptive) family, the Quartermaines?
It could happen, Buddy. Don’t give up hope.
Sarah, Genie Francis is a classic so yesterday’s news is today’s news .
It seems that Nikolas is joining forces with Saccubus, but, as I have posted on the previous site, I believe this to be a great put-on. He is going along with the motions…..hunting, as it were, to discover Helena’s dastardly intentions. I think that Spencer’s account of what he heard in the stables is still haunting Nikolas. I so hope I’m right. We do not need to deal with another horned Cassadine. He does not want to arise the Gorgon’s head.
If he is indeed selling his soul to the devil, then Laura is Nikolas’s only salvation.
I know…. but…. the damsel in distress has been rode so hard
LOL
for soooooo long……
give the man some appeal again
give the man edgy maneuver
give the man some orbit all over
give us treats
You may get your wish, Patrick. Although Nikolas is most likely pretending, it will be ‘delish’ to see Lucifer, the Archangel, fall into satanic-fiend-mode, borne of the Hellenic Cassadines.
Nikolas needs this transformation…he was stagnating as the sainted, forlorn Prince. Let’s see his stuff. Oh, yeah!!!!
Sorry, su0000. Don’t agree…I don’t think he’s setting up Helena. My opinion stands.
I wonder what Britts reaction would be…i know Nik’s is pretending but it wouldv’e been interesting seeing Britt catching Nik being a baddie and have her confront him for dumping her twice for the bad things she had done…would Nik confess he is only pretending to trick HELLina or lie after realizing HELLina is eavsdropping???
I think Britt would have been just as dumbfounded as everyone else. She had turned a new leaf, and even she would have not liked Nikolas reborn as a malignant Cassadine thorn.
But, unlike himself, Britt would have loved and accepted him anyway. Awww, jimh…..that’s true love…LOL.
Jimh..Patrick….I don’t think Nic’s pretending. That’s not his M.O. I think he’s been disappointed one time too many. He lost Emily, Elizabeth, Courtney…now Britt. His character has nowhere to go at this point and there’s a shortage, with the demise of so many good villainous Cassadines…so the powers that be are pulling him into Helena’s fold. I’m not sure if Helena is using mind control on him or if he’s just crossed over…but whichever it is I think it’s real. And, there’s the new actress that appeared on his arm…wonder how or if she’s involved in some way, too.
Rebecca1m
It is obvious RC wants us to know that Nik is setting up Helena..
It’s also obvious that Nik made a deal with Sloane to set up Helena to save Spenser from going to reform school for his felony crime of voter tampering and theft and prevent spenser from having a juvenile record..
but-
Helena is indestructible and Nik will come out on the short end, no doubt..
Nikolas didn’t lose Courtney. She just locked the car keys in the car with her in it and she can’t get out.
There are enough characters with “dark sides”, so having Nikolas and Alexis as the sole members of the Cassadine family with a conscience is a good balance. I can understand Nikolas being pissed at his disappointments in love and life, but it’s not being true to this character to change him suddenly like this without warning. He just wouldn’t do this (fix an election), especially for people he barely knows, as well as not hurting people he does know, like Felicia and Anna. Nice example for what you’ve been desperately trying to teach your son, Spencer, about right and wrong for the last several months, Nikolas! It just doesn’t mesh. You can do better than this, writers!
I still don’t believe it. I think he’s working Helena to get to the truth about her plan. The biggest surprise is that Helena seems to be falling for this, when she used to be so shrewd. She should be testing his loyalties instead of just blindly accepting his sudden about-face.
Furthermore, the Emily motivation is SO WEAK. She died back in… 2008? 2009? So now he is over being good? Whatever. If he’s really “evil” now he’s gonna look like the worst kind of hypocrite as he tries to raise Spencer. The bottom line is that he is supposed to care for Lulu, meaning being in league with Helena means keeping quiet about Lulu’s father still being held captive and impersonated. He is supposed to care about Alexis and Sam, but working with Helena means being a party to Faison being on the lam, being guilty of keeping an alive Jason a secret and away from his wife and child, endangering Elizabeth further, deceiving and alienating Alexis… There’s no legitimate reason he would be willing to do that, not as far as I can see.
And with all this added hype around Rosalie’s secret, now with Helena holding it over her head, it better be one hell of a shocker.
C’mon Helena !
ballsy comeuppance… adroit meeting of the minds will
“…She should be testing his loyalties instead of just blindly accepting his sudden about-face. ”
it’s the best turn of events the audience has seen in Tyler Christopher in so long
let it be
“I” am LOVing this turn of events
dang! that pic above says it all : menacing; reeling with ooh la la; dare me; for penchant release
trigger happy
it’s just about time Tyler Christopher layers his fans MUST watch
the moment he let go… burning those ballots…. he stirred show ON
Hello “…dark side, manly, masculine ” imagination run wild : flirtatious
I don’t mind Nikolas with a little dark side, after all we all love a bad guy don’t we? as long as he doesn’t turn into his psycho dad, but isn’t it interesting that now that they are turning nikolas and giving him a little edge that he no longer seems to be interested in Elizabeth? Clearly he needs his mom Laura to come back and give him his moral compass back. Regardless, i’m sure Tyler feels great about being giving more to do finally, all he needs is a great leading lady(Rebecca Herbts) and Elizabeth needs guys like Nikolas and Jake fighting for her, she’s worth it…
Liz is SO lucky…. diss the pun
Liz and the men
Nikolas, Jake, Ric
woah
get out
the ONE thing that has me leery… is the “rekindled” friendship of Carly and nuJason…. call him Jake
even with his “memory LOSS” i’m still not feeling it…. the vibe and connect is not reeling. Carly go and cry about your SONS elsewhere
leave your tentacles off … he’s not your reach.
OK give me one more : Sam
where did all her oomph pomp and circumstance come from? she’s all over Port Charles top dogging (private investigator) has it OUT for “Jake Doe”
I hope he remains as such with this duo… she can puppy dog eye Patrick… I’ll leave it their… for now
I miss Nina and Franco
I wonder what Britt would say to Nik after he dumped her twice for doing bad things…i know he is only pretending to be a very naughty Prince to trick Helene but id loved to have heard what Britt would’ve said thinking he was really being a baddie!!!
I sent that before I was finished. Meant to say I think Helena does not completely trust him yet, as she lied about Luke. And I think he’s asking leading questions to find out more to stop her. At least i hope so.
I love it! It’s been a while since they’ve given Tyler Christopher something meaty to play, and this should provide plenty of that. Nikolas has been the nice guy for too long, and gotten screwed over left and right for years, so you can totally understand the motivation of the character.
There’s also the distinct possibility that he might be playing Helena as the ultimate swerve. Either way, I like this twist in the story, and I’m intrigued to see where it goes next.
It’s also great to have Constance Towers back on the show again. I don’t care how many times she comes back from the dead, she’s always a joy to watch perform. And still absolutely stunning for a woman 81 years young. God bless her!
reiterate :
“…she’s always a joy to watch perform. And still absolutely stunning for a woman 81 years young. God bless her! ”
I think many agree and have stated as such : Constance Towers this go around… is on top of her game
don’t lose your edge… even with Nikolas
eye for an eye this time
I am thoroughly enjoying Prince Nicolas’ walk on the dark side.
Everyone on GH is basically a criminal anyway
Nik turns to the dark side…su will love it…lol…but isnt he pretending…ive learned that this soap is never going to be like the others…here the heros are the villians and the villians are the heros…lol…is it true that Jordan is being killed off like my niece said???
see… you had me wondering… when Jordan was asking Anna…. after she learned that Anna was no longer police commissioner
did she not say to anna : what’s going to happen to me now? she’s not “protected” by the pcpd ?
you may be on to something…
I hope not
I want to see a mother/son reunion first
Hi !
I do want Nik to own his Cassadine DNA and stand tall as a true Cassadine..
But-
I believe he will always be a wimpy boy looking to get laid and talking to Spenser..
yup poor Nik will always be boring, why- because of Spenser..
He is a good daddy figure and he will not be written dark because of Spenser..
and that is sad!!!
they would not put the golden boy spenser in a dark daddy situation..
Nik is a Cassadine and lives on an island in a eerie castle, and he is a Mother Teresa!
that is a shame..
ohhh- Jordan will be OK.. RC got it lol ..
(Jordan, Shaswn and TJ , the 3 are are all cozy in the GH opening.. 🙂
I would like to see a mother/son reunion too…perhaps on her deathbed…a tearjerker scene as T.J. learns his mother was one of the good guys???
Sue, I know you find the dark side of the moon to be interesting but if there is no light there is no shade.
In other words, there are far too many dark and evil characters on GH right now. With so many villains, it has become monochromatic.
Moreover, when there is an over saturation of villains, they cease being interesting.
Well…it’s a new angle for him to play….so I’m sure it will be interesting
Its about time! Tyler is such a good actor and him being a good guy was about to get boring. Britt saved him from that but now that she is gone, “Prince Goody Two Shoes” is tapping into his dark side and it makes perfect sense. He has been railroaded time and time again and he has had enough. I would love to see Helena and Stephan fight for Nicholas’s loyalty. I want him to be the next Victor! As for women, MANY! Don’t tie him down unless you find him someone as dark as he. Whatever happened to that girl he celebrated New Years Eve with? Maybe she’s the one?
I do not like Nicholas’s dark side.
This is stupid unless he is doing it to trick Helena!
He is tricking Helene…but being GH, Helene will most likely have the last laugh!!!
I don’t think he’s tricking Helena. I think he’s either been so twisted around with disappointment with Elizabeth, Britt…not to mention losing Emilt and Courtney…that he’s giving in to the dark side he always feared he had. Or…maybe Helena has done some mind control on him as we’ll.
Grrrrrrrr..Emily..not Emit. Well, not we’ll.
I am not buying this for a second. Nicolas is playing Helena. She threatened to take away his money and power and he’s decided the only way to deal with her for once and for all is to find out what game she is playing this time and ruin it. Not sure how the mayoral race fits into it but I’m sure it will be figured out.
I don’t know, Helena didn’t become a mastermind villain by being stupid and believing her grandson would suddenly embrace his dark side without even thinking he might be trying to play her would be out of character for her. It seems to me, she should be really suspicious of his turn around UNLESS she did something to brainwash him which is why she isn’t even questioning his loyalty to her. If he is playing her and she isn’t even wondering if he might be, means the writers are changing her character, because the Helena I know with her power and influence would never just blindly accept Nik’s change of heart just because he is family.
ooh, riveting post for
I hope it plays out per your post
it’s “just” exciting to see layers of and channeling energies of this “magnitude”
Helena and her grandson Nikolas
and just as some one posted above…. marquee stuff to see Helena and Stephan pulling out all the stops to “have” Nikolas… blindsided and provoking all this maneuver throughout Port Charles…. mysterious foreplay and trigger abound
I did mention something like that, on a previous site, Mary. That is, the villainess Helena dropped a ‘rufie’ in his drink. Unless, her defrosted brain is taking the form of Swiss cheese . Might she, perchance, think that it was her finesse in mastering the power of persuasion? Now, this storyline sounds a bit more promising than Flukie, Lukie , Johnnie, and Jakie.
Fluke will emerge as a hybrid, manufactured in Hades with different stem cells provided by Helena, Victor, Larry, Jerry, Levi , Bill, and yes, Luke. Did I leave anyone out?
Cee Cee, if Helena gave Nikolas a ‘rufie’ Nikolas will have to stroke the furry walls.
Harry…is it just me or did your post…nah…I had to have misinterpreted you! (Please tell me I misinterpreted you…) 😉
I agree with everyone who says that Nik is tricking her. My other thought is that she brainwashed him too, like Jake, and has put these thoughts into his head.
Where are Ava, Silas, Kiki, Morgan, and Franco????
Ava and Franco are supposed to be in prison…probably not shown because they are doing other things or its their time off…probably same for Silas, Kiki(who is leaving), Morgan and Nina???
Linda,
Franco & Ava are in jail. Last we saw him Franco was going into solitary confinement, which I think is to allow Roger to tape that primetime show he’s on.
Silas & Kiki are watching the baby and Morgan, according to what Lucas said today, is drifting, doing nothing.
I hope Nicholas is playing Helena, since there are too many bad guys already on GH.
Linda..
Thing with GH’s ‘bad guys’..
most all are also good guys..
they live two lives..
ie( Julian, very bad guy, a killer yet with Alexis and his family he is a good guy..
Shawn is a killer yet with personal life he is a good guy..
Ava, a bad woman a killer yet with her family her personal life she a good woman..
so–
the good the bad and ugly of GH are still good peoples..
… they live 2 lives…
a couple are bad to the bone and they are the exciting ones to watch, with no doubt..
Well, su…I have never laughed so hard since Harry’s last hilarious post. I think we should all live two lives. I think I would enjoy it. You know? Dr.Jekyl/Mr. Hyde syndrome. I already live with a doctor (my husband), maybe he’ll turn into a version of Mr. Hyde.
Hi CeeCee!!! 🙂
We all have a darkside some are just too scared to let it out every now and then lol
some say GH has too many bad guys.. but those bad guys are also good guys..
the Cassadines are the only true dark villains of GH, and I love them for that!!
Lol, su. I can guarantee that I do not have a dark side….not everyone does, as you so vehemently propose. I could never hurt anyone….and, if I had one; not even my worst enemy. One may act or think to the beat of a different drum, as it were, but, that does not make him/her a dark being.
We all have something to say, not always agreeing with each other. That is the point….or point of view, lol. We exchange thoughts, ideas and opinions….and, I get that you firmly believe Spenser is in trouble and his father is saving him from a fate worse than death….it is not that dire. Nikolas is NOT saving his son. Therein lies the intrigue/imbroglio, and the child is a scapegoat, as I have mentioned. TPTB are trying to steer plots every which way but up. But, we “ain’t” stupid, are we …..we know better.
The kid needs no saving. From what? If anyone has committed a crime, it is Jordan and Shawn (sp). There is no way that this concept is feasible in any court….then again, this is GH/soapland. Later, friend.
I think it’s ridiculous… It is out of character. I love Cartini, but come on! Nick doesn’t have a dark side to embrace – the writers are just making this up. He should never have gone back to Britt. He should have been paired with Elizabeth a long time ago (that’s dark enough considering he cheated with his brother’s girl) & now they don’t know what to do with him. Can’t he just open a company that competes with ELQ? They’d get years of story without changing the character.
LOL
no worries.. Nik is being the good guy .. he is saving Spenser ..
It’s obvious RC wants us to see that Nik is working with the FBI to set up his grandma Helena to save his son Spencer, who committed a felony..
I hope you’re right. I’m disappointed right now in a lot of things on this soap, and I’m usually not. Where has Lucas been? I loved his storyline with Brad and Felix. Why would Lulu even consider talking to Johnny after everything she’s been through with Dante. Why would Johnny, who loves Lulu, knowingly side with Fluke while Lulu’s dad has been abducted? It is totally out of character for him. Plus, Nicholas is going crazy. It’s like watching a tennis match with no rules.
I’m thinking Nichloas it’s finally growing into being “the prince'” but not Helena’s idea of who she wants as the rightful heir. I think he’s playing her to protect Spencer. Seeing him beg to “cuff me” me for the theft of the ballot box was the last straw. Spencer has had a serious of acting out, miss-steps starting with Luke and Julian in the stables, uncle Victor, to Brit helping him get lost for a few days. But they emanate out of the same well…the Cassidine’s quest to control the world, Helena’s special vendetta against Luke/Spencer’s, and their sometimes direct or indirect associates…Faison, Liesl and Jerry Jacks.
So now Nicholas is going to do what he has to do to expose and free himself of Helena. And if there is collateral damage like Felicia, he’s doing this to gain Helena’s confidence.
Nik is not doing it to ”’free himself of Helena”’
He is doing it to save Spenser..
Spenser committed a felony- voter tampering and theft for two counts..
Nik is simply being a good father and saving his son by setting up grandma for the feds, he could careless about Helena ..
He’s not saving Spencer. Dante and Nathan already told Nic and Spencer that he wasn’t going to be arrested or get in trouble. He’s a little boy and obviously knows nothing about tampering with voted. If that’s the actual reason and the story continues along that line of reasoning it would be absurd.
He is sooooooo hot! Glad to see the handsome AND talented actor is being given a storyline. Would love him to be the out-and-out hero of the show.
I love the dark side of Prince Nik. It would be even more fun if he were working with Victor and/or Stefan to take out Helena and the Legion of Doom.Helena left Victor for dead(even though he had her reanimated) and he has a score to settle with Obrecht. There are already too many villains on GH we need some of them to jump ship and defeat the Legion of Doom.
GH’s transition to this new storyline kinda came out of no where.
@su0000.
Helena is a corpse, and as such, sooner or later, she will disintegrate. ….dust to dust and all that jazz.
Nonetheless, you just gave me an idea about our newly appointed, good-looking commish.
Is it possible that he and Nikolas are on the right side of the law and are working in tandem to corral all the baddies behind the idiotic Fluke storyline? Sloane may have a plan and acting the corrupt lawman is to his advantage. ….the only way to get ’em.
Yup.. CeeCee..
It’s it’s all a plot to take down the Cassadines (no fear RC would never ever kill them off) Nik should not mess with grandma!
Nick is still the whimpy one.. he is again being the goody 2 shoes..
(but- it is his way to save Spenser from the felony he committed..
Sloane is blackmailing Nik to play ball in his park or Spencer will pay for his crime…
I hope Nikolas gets his azz kicked for betraying his Cassadine heritage and Grandma is the one to do it .. heh!
Perhaps, Su. But, Spenser is a child…how felonious can a 9-year-old be. He’s not an evil kid….he just gets into stuff…reminds me of myself at that age. I don’t know about Nikolas protecting his son from THAT ….the kid is no felon. There could very well be blackmailing involved, but, I doubt if it’s over the missing ballot box that Spenser fished out of the water. It was not a theft…..he ‘found’ it. What could the authorities possibly do to a kid? Imprison him? Nah! It’s something else….either more sinister than we imagine, or , as I said, Nik and Sloane are working together.
I find this storyline such a welcomed diversion from Flukie’s.
@Harry.
LOL, Harry. Perhaps what Nikolas needs is to stroke the furry wall, before he has a stroke over his melancholy whining. Methinks, he is desperately trying to emulate Hamlet.
You cannot imagine how I appreciate your remarkable, pungent remarks. ….I get it!!
I just finished watching every “Star Wars” movie made…great comparison!
Young Cassidine is now the apprentice of “Darth” Helena. Hopefully, a Jedi Knight from Port CHARLES will take Spencer under his wing and teach him the positive power of “The Force”
I lend credence to the ancient Greek proverb that appears in the Good Book (Jeremiah 13:23) “….Can the leopard change his spots?”.
For those of us like myself, who have been watching GH from it’s inception , or at least remember when/how Nikolas was first introduced to us ( to save the life of his baby half- sister whom he ‘d never met, and to reunite with his loving Mother) we know that he was a really wonderful, golden-hearted young man.
Through the years we’ve came to love and depend on the aristocratic Nikolas as being noble, honorable and gallant, a gentleman in the true sense of the word. and his character’s integrity has always been maintained with the occasional but character flaw i.e. Nik’s affair with Elizabeth.
If Nikolas was keeping his “true Cassidine” nature a secret it should/would have been revealed back in the day ,when he first came to Gh and living with Stefan.
This writing team has been slowly changing Nikolas. He is pretty disconnected from people, but the main thing is they have taken away he super sharp instincts and extremely high intellect. They have really dumbed him down.
Yet if it turns out that we are to be force fed that Nikolas is actually coming out after all these year and getting his notoriously dark to loony and/or sociopathic Cassadine on, the writers are far worse than I’ve been giving them credit for.
The one thing for which I especially hold soap writers/ptb in contempt , find it unforgivable and deplorable is when they degrade, undermine and finally murder the integrity of the core characters we’ve watched, known, and loved/ hated for years.
I am faintly hoping that Nik’s recent out-of -character actions are for him to ensure a tenable position in order to bust the confusing evil plot that’s been unfolding and unfolding and bring to justice Fluke, Helena and all the other too numerous to mention GH baddies who are working together to perpetrate it. I really don’t place to much faith in that the GH ptb will do the write thing.
I do not understand anything you wrote..
It is more than obvious that RC wants us to see that Nik is working with the FBI, he will be a hero ..
Nik is saving his son by doing so.. He is pretending to go dark to get info lol ..
what are you watching lol ..
You think you are the expert on soaps . Who are you to tell me how I should perceive something. An opinion is just that. most of us give opinions the way we see and feel things. You give them in a smug, condescending way. I’ve been watching this show since it started. I cant help it if what I wrote went over your head. And by the way judging by your past posts you should learn how to spell correctly.
Hi, Su. If you read smoochie’ s last paragraph, ….”I am faintly hoping….”, you will see that she is saying the same thing as you, in a different way. I think you’ve misinterpreted her opinion. Smoochie is very eloquent in her writing.
So, we are basically all in agreement here. Peace……later.
Isn’t that what I said, in short form, smoothie? Of course I agree…except that I have equated him to Hamlet, the melancholy, lovelorn, forlorn, Dane (Prince).
Oops…I am so sorry…I meant, smoochie. This thing has a mind of its own, at times.
Sorry CeeCee, but I hadn’t read your post. I will look for it. It’s fine about the name typo, I really am a Smoothie at heart also.
Well, Bohemian, or smoochie… We think alike. You know what they say about great minds. I concur with your every word. Good post.
@Smoochie/Bohemian….Very well-written posts! I heartily agree with BOTH of them!!!!!
I want Nicholas to remain the same; a good guy. I figure he is being bad to find out what Helena is up to because of the things he has learned and he will expose them.
bring Britt back and get him and her back so he can be good again

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
