GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Learns She is Willow’s Biological Mother From Carly

Courtesy/ABC

In a moment GH fans have been waiting for, Friday’s episode brought with it Carly (Laura Wright) finally admitting to Nina (Cynthia Watros), that her arch-nemesis is actually the biological mother of Willow Tate (Katelyn MacMullen).

Making the truth all the more urgent is that Willow desperately needs a bone marrow transplant and donor match, which Nina could provide.

The showdown between Carly and Nina happens in the hospital chapel.  Carly goes to tell Nina that she might be the only person who can save Willow now, especially given that Willow is sick and in the hospital with leukemia and of course, pregnant at the same time with Michael’s (Chad Duell) child.

Carly tells Nina that she needs to get tested because a related donor is her best chance for Willow’s survival.  Nina has no idea where Carly is coming up with this claim, insisting she’s not related to Willow.  However, Carly reveals to Nina that she is Willow’s mother and that years ago she had twins: Nelle and Willow.

In pure disbelief, Nina doesn’t believe a word Carly is saying.  Going over the past, Nina says she did not have twins as Nelle was given to the Bensons to raise her.  Carly says Nina’s mother, Madeline gave the second twin to Harmony.  Carly goes even further admitting to Nina that Harmony told her on her deathbed.  Nina believes Harmony was lying. Carly then claims she has proof.  She took DNA samples from Willow and Nina and had the test ran and they were 99.9% percent a match.

Nina accuses Carly of lying and says she’ll do her own DNA test, but Carly begs her to not take the time to do that, because Willow needs the transplant ASAP.

Next, Nina relives the emotional and contentious relationship she has had with Willow in a montage.  Following that, Nina explodes at Carly.  She can’t believe Carly kept her from her child and calls her a “selfish bitch” before heading out of the chapel.

Meanwhile, Sonny (Maurice Benard) runs into Drew (Cameron Mathison) at the hospital after visiting Willow, and he asks him if he knows why Carly is talking to Nina and is not by Michael’s side. Drew says it’s not his information to tell, but Sonny gets testy and wants answers.  Just then, Carly shows up and tells Sonny to back off of Drew.

Michael, who has learned from Drew that Nina is Willow’s biological mother, goes to tell her.  However, when Willow wakes up, she remembers fighting with Nina and worries about Wylie. When Michael begins to tell Willow he has something to tell her about Nina, it upsets her.  Next, Nina enters her hospital room.  Willow tells her to leave immediately. She wants nothing to do with her or to hear what she has to say.  Nina begs her to listen to her as it might save her life.  We fade to black.

Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright hit these scenes out of the park and the drama will continue into next week!

So, what did you think of the scenes where Carly tells Nina she is Willow’s birth mother? Comment below.

Nina takes away Carly’s husband & business and shatters her family into 666 pieces, but Carly’s the selfish bitch?? Right……

This Parasite is literally sucking all the life out of this show. We all know the original Nina was just a grudge hire by Frank & ReRon to get back at Y&R for stealing several veteran GH cast members (Tristan Rogers, Genie Francis, Steve Burton, etc.) – who only went to Y&R because Frank & ReRon threw them under the bus to put their OLTL pets front & center in the GH storylines.

Of course those actual GH cast members all came back eventually. And the original Nina went back to where she belonged. That should have been the end of it. There never should have been a recast. And since the Tricky Dick Nixon Falls storyline, she has become increasingly intolerable, on practically a daily basis. A bone marrow transplant might save Willow’s life, but it ain’t going to redeem this horrible character or undo all the damage she’s done… to Willow herself, along with the entire Corinthos family.

Satan,

You hit this one out of the ballpark! Nina or no Nina, how did Sonny stand that “selfish bitch” as long as he did? I can’t stand any part of Nina but I think the pushy, intrusive, ditzy woman has a good heart and for the most part means well. What I can’t understand is with the good qualities she does have, why do so many of us dislike her? I could care less about her involvement with Sonny, I think, at least with me, I couldn’t stand the way she treated Willow when she taught that spoiled brat Charlotte. Also, couldn’t stand the pedestal Valentin put her on.

Satan
Sorry, I misinterpreted your comment about Nina calling Carly a “selfish bitch”. I thought you were agreeing with Nina’s assessment of Carly, which I have to admit feeling the same way. It was pure revenge on Carly’s part withholding the information of Willow and Nina’s relationship and the lengths she went to, to get to the truth. As I said, I can’t stand Nina either but maybe we give her too much credit for the stuff she’s done. Carly could have had Sonny back in a minute but her pride and ego got in the way, she lost her hotel because she invested with Drew, etc, etc.

Nina’s petty revenge schemes have done far more harm than just her mindless revenge against Carly though. The Tricky Dick Nixon Falls coverup came close to getting Jax killed by a bullet (he was lucky to escape with a flesh wound). Sonny’s absence created a void allowing the “bad” mobsters to take over Port Charles, which (as Jax pointed out to Nina) would have been bad for everybody, Sonny fans or not. And when Whiny Heiny became part of her coverup, the end result of that almost got herself, Phyllis, and Sonny killed, because Heiny had to cover up his own tracks… with fire.

It’s actually an oddly accurate comparison to what the writing for Nina has done to this show, particular in the last 13 months or so, since they threw Jason under the bus again, and Nina’s become the primary focus of this show, somehow. Sending it into a toilet spiral, possibly even more than the attempted OLTL takeover in 2012 or even that dreadful Casey/Eckert period that ate up GH for a few years before Sonny’s debut & the return of Luke & Laura saved the show from cancellation yet again in 1993.

Nina was tolerable when she was with Val the Bastard, maybe even when she was with Jax. But it’s been a rapid downhill slide into unbearable lunacy ever since she decided she could determine DNA & a genetic relationship to a (supposedly) dead Nelle, based on a dime store necklace. And then came Tricky Dick Nixon Falls, and her obsession with stealing literally everything from Carly that has followed. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nina is the one who found the wounded Morgan Corinthos after the “Jerome Family Project” car bombing and hid him away somewhere – whether he turned into Dex (my theory) or he’s still off canvas, waiting to be used as Nina’s pawn at some later date.

Is a Devil speculating with that last part? Oh absolutely, 666%. But you have to admit, it would totally fit the pattern, would it not?

Satan
O.k, I’ll buy a lot of what you’re saying, mostly because I can’t stand Nina, but what’s fair is fair. If Carly really wanted Sonny back, she should have swallowed a little bit of her pride and he would have probably never looked at Nina again, but the writers chose other means, I also still believe Carly lost the M.C due to her own greed, but Nina was in the right place when it was time to buy it out from underneath her.
As I say, I agree with most of what you say, but I’m holding out about the Dex/Morgan thing and them being one and the same and I still think you give Nina too much credit, I don’t think she’s that smart for the task you’re accusing her of. I don’t even know where she got as far as she has in the business world, shouldn’t she show some brains sometimes?

Nina really isn’t that smart. The whole thing is a result of plot point writing, and I’m honestly starting to believe they’re trying to tank the show on purpose. So if that’s the objective… who says the writing has to make sense at all?

And it’s not just the Ninapalooza taking over the show in that case.. It’s also things like Heather & Ryan somehow meeting up and having a kid 20 years ago. Doesn’t fit Heather’s timeline at all, and though there were huge gaps in Ryan’s history (because he was supposed to be dead) the previous rewrites had him somewhere in Europe working for the DVX, and not living “off the grid” in a log cabin in the Cascade Mountains (which was a literal steal from the original series finale of “Dexter”, oddly enough)

Of course these writers are fans of that show though… you will recall that character’s full name was “Dexter Morgan”.

“Dex” is short for “Dexter”…. so maybe that’s a clue to his true identity??

What nasty words you and Satan use for Nina are piercing at Carly!!!

What I don’t understand is Willow forgave Harmony, who sex trafficked and drugged her when she was a minor but can’t forgive Nina for being overzealous for wanting to see Wiley? Moreover, Willow let Harmony, also a serial murderer, have access to Wiley. Carly takes the word of a murderous drug trafficker who tells her that Nina is dangerous. Insanity ensues!

Harry
I think Willow has been influenced a lot by Michael and his mother, also her experience as Charlotte’s teacher when Nina insisted the brat was a little angel when she was terrorizing her own little cousin. She also couldn’t except the fact of Nina being Nelle’s mother, and her demanding access to Whiley, with the court’s help.

Boop
Sorry, don’t understand your comment.

I disagree with much of what you say here, however, it’s just a difference of opinion and you can’t change my mind anymore than I can change yours. That said, Nina did not steal Carly’s business. Carly lost it due to some foolish and reckless investments.
On another note, Cynthia Watros deserves an Emmy nomination for this performance. Powerful delivery of lines that seemed to come straight from her gut. Carly really is a “selfish bitch.”

I like Nina, liked Nixon Falls and Sonny with Nina. There is a kind of affection between them lacking with him and Carly. Also even Sonny seems happier and a little changed for the better. And anything bad Nina has done, which I don’t like, Carly has done more, and in spades. Starting with the marriage with Jason to maintain the Corrinthos crime syndicate. Nina tried to give Carly the info about Sonny in Nixon Falls, but like always Carly shut her down. And this time withholding the Nina/Willow connection has been pure revenge on Carly’s part. So too little, and I hope not to late, when she fessed up about the mother/daughter connection at the last minute. Hope Drew dumps her for lying and obstructing his investigation into finding a family match for Willow. And Willow isn’t the woman-girl she was at the beginning. Talk about a change, I miss the old Willow.

I agree, Rose. Nina, as played by Cynthia, is socially awkward and tends to make clumsy, albeit comical, entrances. That’s the essence Cynthia brings to the role. Michelle Stafford played her as she played Phyllis-combative, competitive and strong. Cynthia is well adept at playing the walking wounded, and she makes it clear the character she plays has permanent emotional scarring. Is Nina wince inducing? Absolutely. She’s that sister for whom you root and you end up whacking your forehead when she impulsively does something embarrassing and unwise. But you love her anyway. Cynthia brings an inherent sense of vulnerability and sweetness to this role. That said, the way Nina pronounced,” Selfish BITCH!” was guttural and powerful and sounded like it came from the depth of her being. Great acting from both Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright (who are good friends in real life). Bravo to both of these amazing actresses.

Harry…I loved Nina’s closing words at the chapel and how she said them to Carly…”Selfish Bitch.” It said way more than two words. And yes, Cynthia and Laura were amazing. I’m also going to give a thumbs up to “ nice” Drew who sure held his ground against Carly. It showed another side to Cameron.

I agree! I must admit that there are times that I want Nina to rip her apart!

Ohh, yeah, boop—-and then some. Suddenly, Carly has become this paragon of motherhood and virtue. Didn’t she shoot someone, drugged AJ and poured alcohol all over him??

“Starting with the marriage with Jason to maintain the Corrinthos crime syndicate.”

You mean, the marriage that was only necessary because Nina allowed Carly, Jason, and everybody else to believe Sonny was dead?

Hell, even Jax – who was not a fan of Sonny or his business interests – told Nina what a danger she was putting all of Port Charles in, once he realized that Sonny was in fact alive, and Nina was deliberately covering up that fact… including lying to Jax himself, when he too had seen Sonny in Tricky Dick Nixon Falls, though was led to believe (by Nina) that he was “hallucinating” after being shot… though it was a relatively minor flesh wound in the shoulder, and probably didn’t cause nearly enough blood loss to induce hallucinations.

Jax told her that Sonny’s presence in Port Charles was ultimately a good thing, because he had kept far worse mob elements away from the city, and those worse elements were starting to move in, once they believed Sonny was dead. And true enough, it was the threat of those elements which led to the Jason & Carly wedding, And even at the wedding, some of those elements tried to take them out. Had it not been for the last minute tip from Selina Wu, Jason & Carly would be dead, and Nina would be at least partially to blame for that as well. Obviously she didn’t bomb the limo, but there would have been no wedding, and hence no bomb, without her coverup of Sonny’s existence in Tricky Dick Nixon Falls.

And let’s not forget that at the same time, Nina’s willingness to keep this lie going also allowed Whiny Heiny to remain free and on his psychotic rampage, which nearly got herself, Phyllis, and Sonny burned up in that dumb empty bar that never had any customers.

I’m the Devil, so I’m never looking for saints. But when I root for the sinners, it’s usually the ones who cause the lesser damage. And Carly has caused a lot less than Nina.

Hi Satan…I’m no angel but my choice of the lesser of two evils in your mind is still Carly! :)))

Oh, Satan, Satan—Carly needs a man–constantly—doesn’t matter who it is. She’s always had the hots for Jason, so he wasn’t just a covenience for the sake of keeping the Corinthos’ “business” afloat– you are right about genetics—“Femme de la nuit” is in her DNA—so….
Aside: I had another thought. What if Willow and Esme give birth at the same time ?–and the babies are both in the hospital nursery or NICU? What if Heather grabs the wrong baby by mistake? Or what if the nurses themselves make a mistake by putting the wrong bracelets on the babies? Hmmmm-veeery inte-re-sting!!

I sort of feel that the connection was stronger during the Nixon Falls days… Sonny had an “innocence” in not knowing who he was…that feels somewhat lost now.

Brian…Yes the Honeymoon stage of Nixon Falls isn’t the same. But the closeness, which is growing, seems to have survived since coming back to Port Charles with all that entails. Just wish Sonny would be able to step away from being a crime boss, but like another commenter said the way he runs the mob probably keeps the city safer.

brian
I have not felt that Sonny has been 100% since he’s been back. I think that at times he puts on the big mob boss shtick, but he still has some of the Mike persona from Nixon Falls, I can’t really explain it.

Absolutely, rose—Love Nina!–and, there’s definitely a distinct change in Sonny, I see that, now that you mention it.
The two have such a light, sweet relationship–means a lot coming from me —I’ve been mocking Sonny since forever!!
Carly plans and manipulates—look how twisted her mentality is—pays off someone to fabricate a story about Willow’s “mother”— a sincere person would not do that, regardless how one may compare Nina’s misdeeds to hers. And, I bet Willow will forgive Carly but not Nina– women like Carly get away with anything and everything—–uffa!! ( as mush as I despise Carly, I must repeat how amazing Laura’s acting is!!). —I am impressed —and, of course, Cynthia.
–looks like Nina has learned from her mistakes. Will Carly?

Celia…Yes, it looks like Willow will forgive Carly. But will Michael and Sonny? One way of not forgiving Nina is “erasing” her from her life after the bone marrow transplant. And I’m not sure, but writers seem to be setting us up for the possibility that Willow dies. I hope not.

And what is Nina? A baby stealing, rumor making, conniving, lying witch and let’s not forget that she kept Sonny from his family for a whole year! And you say, Carly is a selfish bitch??

It wasn’t a year for Nina!

No it wasn’t. Sonny was “Mike” in Nixon Falls for a couple of months when Nina discovered him. She immediately called Carly to let her know but Carly wouldn’t let her get a word in and shouted her down. What Nina did was wrong but we saw her mentally struggle with what was unfolding/ we saw her internal conflict. She’s never been the poster child for mental stability and suffers from PTSD. The end result is she loves too
much and holds on too strong. The main difference between Carly and Nina when they make mistakes, is that the former has an air of haughty righteousness while the latter has an air of abject humility.

A year or nine months – Same difference. Yes, Carly has her faults, but who doesn’t? Laura Wright and Cynthia Watros are good actresses and they knocked it out of the park, in last Friday’s episode.

More like 6 months. Carly’s still worse, even though her fans excuse everything she does and never hold her accountable for anything.

I agree with you about everything! We can tell the Carly fans and the Nina fans. I feel the same about Nina as Satan feels about Carly.

Jill
Sure agree with your last sentence and she’s teaching Joss well.

Nina has ALOT of nerve! She never looks at the things she’s done! Always the victim!

Huh? Nina constantly apologizes for her mistakes- over and over. And when she stops to take a breath, she has Carly, her awful spawn, Michael& Joss, Willow, Olivia and Bobby roaring and caterwauling away in her face while wagging their fingers. They’re all a bunch of hypocrites- just a rotten crowd. Nina is worth more than the lot of them.

I meant to say that Nina apologizes all the time , Harry. I agree with all that you said!

We could take a look at all the dirty deeds Carly has done, also ;}
In comparison, Carly is a dirty nasty woman, Poor Nina is the underdog, yup-
And– Carly spent her marriage to Sonny in love with Jason…
she said as much to Jason when she married him..

So does Carly!!

All of the words that you stated about Nina hit Carly double , Satan!!!

Regardless of what your opinion is, you are WAAAAAAYYYYYY too upset and angry over a soap opera.

Dear Whynot.
Nobody here is upset. We’re just having harmless fun debating about our favorites. It’s not personal. That’s the fun of soaps- it’s part of the escapism.

Most of those CBS hires (from ABC) came at the hand of Maria Arena, which all were hired and pretty much let go prior to Frank Valentini’s hiring of Michelle Stafford in 2014… especially when Stafford left under Jill Farren Phelps’ eye. And Francis was fired by Phelps, as well, and re-hired at ABC the following year.

Be that as it may, Satan, as I will not dispute what you said—-however, I do not believe, in a million years, that Carly did what she did for the greater good. She played with people’s lives as much as Nina did—-All out of spite.
One most important fact—Carly will bear the burden of contemptibility.—for now—soon enough everyone will be one big happy family..

As I said, Carly’s no saint, thank Hell! But in this case, she first had Harmony’s “deathbed request” not to tell Willow. And then you have Willow’s own comments to Carly, that maybe she didn’t want to know who her birth parents were after all. And let’s be honest, were it not for her current health issues, there would really be no reason to tell her. Willow has every right to hate Nina, for the way Nina has treated her since she first appeared in Port Charles as Charlotte’s teacher, and escalating when she got in Wiley’s face and told him that Willow was “not your mother”.

None of that had anything to do with Carly. Once Carly realized Willow’s health was at stake, she put her well justified personal feelings about Nina aside, and told her what was up. So as much as I would personally like to see Carly knock Willow into the next dimension, she did the right thing here. She would have done so sooner, had Willow (and later Mikey) not kept everybody in the dark about Willow’s health issues.

Or in other words… shameless plot point writing. If I didn’t know better, I would think ReRon was still writing the show.

Damn it… I can’t edit my previous post…. let’s just say that Carly should knock NINA into the next dimension, not Willow!

I think I need some more caffeine…. gonna go see if the dragons have finished roasting those beans yet…

Oh, sweet, sweet Satan ( tee-hee)– i am not disagreeing with you. But, I doubt very much Carly gives two hoots about any promises she made to a dying criminal.
Willow’s hate for Nina serves no one well except Caly–she’s relishing this–she’s in seventh heaven–or is it Hell!!??? Is that why you like her so much? Her name should be Satina–LOL( shh–love you, Satan. Honest).
Any kind-hearted, loving mother/human being would have put that aside and do the right thing. Carly has no morals. You hoestly think she cares about adhering to Willow’s or anyone’s wishes? Carly is a fiend–Everything dhe does is for pure selfishness and her grandiose existence ( her ego will explode one day).
Not defending Nina here–however, I see a real change in her. And, Willow? I stopped respecting her since her sham of a marriage with Chase. Her heart is not as black as Carly’s, but somewhere in-between.

It’s a matter of genetics…

Carly’s a Spencer. And while the Spencer family history certainly has its darker moments, they’re good people at their core… who sometimes act impulsively and get themselves in trouble for doing so.

Nina comes from that Westbourne/Faison family tree which is overwhelmingly dark & evil. And no, that’s not an endorsement from the Devil! It’s not impossible to overcome those genetics. Nathan did it. Britt managed to do so eventually. Even Liesl has at least tried to, since she’s been with Scotty. On the other horn, you have Psycho Nelle who wasn’t even raised in the family, and yet turned out to carry out her lunatic genetic blueprint permanently.

Willow should be scared shitless right about now.. not just because of the leukemia, but because of the family tree she just got grafted into… hell, her birth father was literally related to vampires, and that’s the “sane” side of the family!

PS–Satina, Satana, Devilina—so many adorable names come to mind. ❤️

“Demonica” is a good one. I actually know a succubus by that name.

I love it!!! HaHaHaHaHa!! Demonica it is!!
You just made my day!! This is fun!!

I think the actress who portrays Carly was amazing but I wish I could connect with this version of Nina. Apart from that, the writing for Nina up to this point has me siding with Willow.Nina has been expressing her dislike for Willow since the time Willow taught Charlotte. Then I reflect back to the custody battle when Willow said that she did not believe sharing DNA entitles you to a family relationship.I don’t need to connect with this version of Nina because the writing for “this” Nina has made that choice for me , at present , I stand with Willow, all she wants is her kids and a life with Michael. Now Willow has to come to terms with the fact that Nina is her mother and Nelle was her sister, both have caused Willow alot of heartache. And once Willow is able to process all of this , she then has to decide how important is DNA to her.

Good post!

Willow is a simpering idiot who has handled her cancer with a reckless and selfish disregard to Wiley and Michael. I loved Willow when she played the feisty and spirited schoolteacher striving to seek independence from creepy Harmony and the even creepier cult. But she seems to have gone from one cult to another. With Michael she has lost her identity and has been brainwashed by both he and his mother to believe Nina is the Antichrist. The one steadfast characteristic of Nina’s is she has a strong and protective maternal instinct. I’m not sure if Willow deserves Nina as her mother after her abysmal treatment of her.

I don’t think anybody would believe Nina is the Antichrist. She definitely doesn’t have any of my DNA, and I don’t even need a necklace to prove that!

Nina is the only woman that was able to change Sonny…
Their being together has done wonders for Sonny…
I like Nina and Sonny–fresh and new beginnings with them..

How is a neutered Sonny good for anything? Sonny’s mental absence (with his head buried up Nina’s backside) and Jason’s physical absence have resulted in all kinds of things rising up in Port Charles that wouldn’t have existed otherwise. The Hooker killings being an obvious example. And this ridiculous idea that Sonny would suddenly reverse decades of his own “code” and allow some mercenary weapons smugglers complete access to the harbor to commit their crimes.

Sonny with Nina on his brain is worse than Sonny off his meds, by about a 666% margin. And the fact that he doesn’t have Jason around to help him figure things out is only making it worse. He can’t even talk to his son Michael. Ironically he might be talking to his son Morgan, but he’s not getting any good input there either, because Morgan doesn’t know who he is yet.

Satan
I said in another post that Sonny is not the same, but has a lot of “Mike” residue. I couldn’t believe this thing with the weapon smugglers, that’s not Sonny, I was yelling at him that day” who the hell are you”?, if you’re going to be a mobster, do it right!

Thing is, before Tricky Dick Nixon Falls, Sonny always had a “circle of trust” that he could discuss things with and get some valuable insight & advice. Jason is now presumed “dead”. Carly was thrown under the bus for Nina. As a result, he’s totally alienated Michael. Kristina’s rarely seen. Dante’s still around, but obviously there are things Sonny can’t discuss with him, given Dante’s chosen line of work. So he’s left to talk things over with Nina, who’s clueless in general, but especially about Sonny’s business & the things he’s done to “keep the peace” in Port Charles for nearly 30 years. There’s that one bodyguard who looks like Jack Webb on steroids, but he doesn’t seem to talk much. And you have Brick who manages to show up every few months or so when he gets a break from his day job at ESPN. And he has put far too much trust in Dex, who at best, knows very little about Port Charles history, and at worst is a traitor about to stab Sonny in the back (figuratively, if not literally) unless Michael calls off his vendetta plot.

So yeah, Sonny needs to snap out of it and start being himself again. Only problem there, is who will tell him so?

Harry, absolutely right. Willow’s reaction to Nina borders on pathological. She needs a wake-up call…Nina is a true grandmother while Willow is just another in a long line of women that Michael has ruined and/or destroyed (Nelle, Sabrina, Kiki, Abby). Can’t wait to see Michael the self-righteous prig grovel to Nina after she saves Willow. Gee, maybe a judge will lift the visitation ban also.

Let’s be fair about Michael’s unfortunate streak of girlfriends…

Nelle destroyed herself. And though a dimestore necklace isn’t proof, she apparently came about her mental defects genetically, since her behavior and Ninas are practically identical most of the time.

Abby was probably the best girlfriend Mikey had before Willow. She helped him heal from Franco’s arranged prison rape. Things there were going well, until the Frank & ReRon regime moved in and unceremoniously dropped a steel beam on poor Abby’s head off-screen… so they could pair Michael up with their OLTL pet, StarrKikiTwit. Though she was a useless character and never a good match for Mikey anyway, the only thing that broke them up was Frodd’s lie about being Jason’s twin brother, which would have made Michael & the Twit cousins.

Of course the Kiki recast (a 666% improvement over the other one) was with Morgan, not Michael. And then she was with Duke Lavery’s son… Griffin or whatever his name was. Which is when she was murdered by Ryan, because he thought that’s what Ava wanted. Michael had nothing to do with any of that.

As for Princess Cinderbrina…. never saw any point to that character at all, so I’ve pretty much blocked her entire existence out of my mind. But didn’t she get killed by Paul Hornsby after cheating on Michael with her ex boyfriend Carrrrrrlllllos? Or something like that?

So yeah, Michael’s had some bad luck in that area. Think he and Maxie are tied as far as dead exes go? I have occasionally wondered what might happen if those two paired up. Either they would both die instantly, or they would cancel out each other’s “curses” & live happily ever after.

Soaphound
Yes, Willows been going off the deep end for a while now but I have to disagree about Michael, he is everything you said, but I could never blame him or anyone for the poisonous Nelle , except for the man that raised her and Carly, do we see a parallel there? As far as Willow goes, rumor has it she won’t survive, we’ll see I guess.

Let Willow take all the time she needs and let Carly give her the bone marrow!

I’m sure Carly would be willing to be tested, though there’s no guarantee she would be a match.

Now on the other horn…. if we’re now supposed to believe that Willow and Psycho Nelle were “fraternal twins”, and Josslyn is walking around with one of Nelle’s kidneys, then odds are pretty good that she would be a suitable marrow donor for Willow. Fraternal twins aren’t 666% compatible DNA like identical twins are, but they’re likely to be very close (unless you have one of those weird scenarios like Sami Brady’s “twins” on Days… who had two different fathers!)

Sorry, Soapgal—you are painting Willow as Nina’s victim—You forget that Nina was a victim herself.
Willow is a little brat who takes advantage of those who love her—Michael, Chase, even Sasha!! Nina’s children were literally torn from her body—lthat is enough to break down anyone’s brain cells. In my eyes, she has atoned to her “sins”-
On the other hand, Carly is a gelid Amazon—no compassion –except for those she selfishly expects to feed her ego.
I can’t stand excuses—Oh, gee–Willow kept secrets because she was protecting this one, and that one….
Carly was, also, protecting “this one and that one”– Right!! Carly is a shrew and Willow is a cry-baby, who does not care to know which way is up. But, to the good people of PC, Willow is an angel–an Illuminata. She graduated Nursing School in just a couple of months. WOW!!

Hey Celia, how about changing “Willow” to “Wallow” since all she does is complain and feel sorry for herself because Nina walks the earth. And that’s BEFORE her leukemia.

LOL–everything is Nina’s fault, Soaphound, don’t you know?? Nina did this and Nina did that. Well, in Nina’s defense she was in a coma for twenty years –finding out her mother was a maniac , plus the loss of a child she never had the pleasure of seeing—well, what can I say??.
What’s Carly’s excuse?
Carly, considering she lost a son ( whom she, nor Sonny, ever mention) should have a little more compassion—
You know what I hope, Soaphound? —Michael, for some reason or other ( it’s a soap) turning out not to be Wiley’s bio Dad. Next of kin? Wait for it…..Nina!!

Carly, Nina, Sonny…they all deserve each other. Josslyn is headed down the same path.

Joss is on the path of Carly , Michael, Sonny , etc !

By Sonny’s own code he should have killed Nina for being untrustworty by keeping him from his family and putting them in danger. Sonny choose Nina over his family and they both got what they deserve, no respect.

Willows baby is a goner totally.

Can’t wait to see next week’s episodes!

Im not a fan of Cynthia Watros. Never have been but I dont dislike her. We saw Michelle Stafford as Nina. She was on GH what she already had been on Y&R, Phyliss! Thats okay, she was born to be Phyliss. The job pays well and she gets to play the over the top character for as long as she wants. Her on GH was uncomfortable. Now with Cynthia, same thing, she just doesnt capture everything the character requires, being a believable replacement for Carly and Willow’s mother. There is no likability here and we cannot feel any connection to the drama that is playing out right now. Find the perfect Nina or kill the character.

How can you feel a connection to a flaming maniac created by Stafford she is over the top awful just can’t stand her !! Then you have Becky herbst who I has chemistry with a phone book subtle you can’t tell she is acting just like Case over at Y&R ! Wake up writers or I pray soaps implode

OMG, you are exactly right. I have disliked her for all the many years she’s been on Y&R and disliked her as the first Nina. Arms and legs flying all over, at first I thought she had a medical issue, but after so many years I’ve gotten used to her and try FF any scene she’s in.just saw your other post and wish they’d put her out of HER misery.
I also feel the same about Liz and have said as much, but she has a lot of followers, don’t get it!

Becky gets the short stick and is paired with Finn. He is a bore. She was great with Roger Howarth. They screwed that character up and now she is in limbo. Maybe a Nu-Nicholas and her will have mega chemistry? By the way, they FINALLY had Jeff come home and, although I didnt care for the actor, the bigger problem is with 25 years of pent up anger and hurt, they never let Liz play all this out on screen. Then, Jeff is gone! What a ripoff! And to your point, Sharon Case over at Y&R is gold and they have wasted her for some time now. Didnt care for her and Rey and this Chance actor is horrible! He, like Devon wears my batteries out on my remote control!

I agree, T—not into Finn, at all. I liked him on OLTL—every other character he has played and plays ( Finn) is a bust for me. He’s strange. And, too old to be his father’s son.
I also agree with your characterization of Ray and Chance. Not for Sharon ( love her)—but, that’s where this plot is going. She’s youthful looking and gorgeous, yet too old for Chance—I can’t stomach the reverse either–.. Like Nick and Sally etc.
Poor Liz always gets the “noose”—enough of giving her the damsel in distress image. She’s a strong woman who has reared three boys on her own , more oft than not–suffered more losses imaginable, and is still standing. Nikolas is a user—Liz is at his disposal and will, most likely suffer the consequences.

Celia, I felt sorry for Adam on Wednesday’s show. Victor says he needs family loyalty….but Nick is allowed to move in on Sally when he knew (and Adam asked him kindly not to) the unresolved feelings involved. And Victoria? Submarining Adam at every turn at Newman..wow, that’s family love?? And Summer trashing Adam with jerko Kyle when Adam both saved her dad during the tornado in Kansas AND saved her half-sister’s life with a transplant. With family like that, I’d rather choose my own. I want Sharon back with Adam since Nick has fully abdicated himself to his nether regions.

Well, Soaphound—-I sure hope Nick’s nether-regions can keep up with with someone half his age? LOL—Nick betrayed his own daughter by ignoring what Sally put Summer through. Poor kid, first her father, now her husband!! Men can be so dumb. Sorry guys!!
I’m beginning to really “dig” Adam. He seems so lost—Is he falling for Chelsea again?—or does he simply resent Billy ( yuck—-come back BM!!) and thus keeps coming around to check the situation?
Well, I’d rather see him with Sharon than Chance—-he’s such an object.

I know what you mean, Celia, but I have to admit…since Abby is out of his life (mostly), I’m starting to like Chance. His acting has really improved and his soul searching is coming across as realistic. Meanwhile Abby and Devon continue to be stomach churning. And where is darling Dummy, sorry, Dom-Dom? I guess they don’t make plastic dolls for his age range.

OMG—-you always manage to crack me up—-Dom-Dom or Dum-Dum??
I don’t know yet about Chance, Soaphound—I will give him a chance ( stupid joke—my bad)—-it’s actually the writers’ fault—making him an object. LOL—Maybe now that he’s unshackled from Abby’s invisible chains, he’ll be able to show his true self and muscles.
Devon and Abby—another pathetic mismatch—I just caught up—-I thought it was the weirdest thing—he and Abby sitting on the sofa where he looked up at her—-and she looking down—The opposite of my husband and I— LOL—-I’m always looking up, standing or sitting. Only I would make such a banal observation, right?
What say you about Chance and Sharon?
Anyway—-my stomach is still heaving after catching a glimpse of Jack and Diane—-my eyes are bleeding. It was as bad as the time when Victor did it with his attorney ( I think it was his attorney) in jail—Yuck!!

Celia, way off topic, except our shared Italian heritage: are you familiar with Jack Savoretti, British / Italian singer songwriter? Google him if you can…great, rough voice and many of his songs sound like Italian pop music from the 60s and 70s. And he’s a real dreamboat..check out the long curly hair and fabulous smile. He’s the real deal artistically. I’m obsessed!

WOW!! Savoretti sounds as sexy as he looks!! I’m completely surprised because all of the Italo-American artists, who try to sound Italian, destroy the songs. But, the British Italians maintain their authenticity.
I have a favorite Italian pop singer, as well–Enrico Nigiotti—not so much the looks, but his hair and voice “send” me—he’s so hot–favorite song, BACIAMI ADESSO ( Kiss Me Now)–
While my maternal grandmother has a massive collection of 60’s American and British “records”, my husband’s nonna has one of 60’s Italian artists such as, Little Tony ( Cuore Matto) Mina ( Tintarella de Luna–Amore, Amore with Riccardo Cocciante), Claudio Villa (Granada; Arrivederci Roma), Domenico Modugno ( Volare), Al Bano e Romina Powers—too many to count.
I love listening to all—believe it or not I love listening to Beethoven—I even have his bust next to my piano–i play his sonatas more often than not—soothe me…
The Sanremo Festival is on Feb 7th–you can catch it, if you have RAI on your Cable—
Thank you for sharing–
Aside—I get the feeling Esme is in PC to stay. I must admit I am absolutely ecstatic!!! Avery is one of the best younger actresses—she will go places. I guess that if Esme is to be part of the GH family, her persona will go through a complete makeover–lovable, honest and sincere??

Hey, Soaphound—-I just recieved notice that my comment was approved–I could kick myself for inadvertently making a grammar mistake—typos, yes—grammar mistakes are a NO-NO-I caught it as I was reading through the reply—should read: The opposite of my husband and ME, not I—object of the preposition “of”— Can you ever forgive me?? LOL
I know you are a stickler for perfect grammar as much as I am—but, even I, as perfect as I am, make mistakes. Triple LOL.

No worries, Celia. This is an informal setting so just as long as we get our thoughts across, I’m okay with grammar gaffes. What gets me is when you see errors on the “crawl” part of news programs. The other day, they actually spelled committee with one “m”. These are, presumably, college graduates? Wow, your music collections sound fabulous. My dad used to play Connie Francis and Morgana King, Tony Bennett, etc., but yours are genuine! I also love classical, esp. Mozart and Bach…they just make your soul feel at peace. My friends always found me whacky for playing the Pachelbel Canon (my favorite piece of music EVER) back to back with Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Springsteen, Streisand, A CHORUS LINE, then finish with Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon. Great music is great regardless of “labels”. And…I’m loving Esme now. Nikolas…not so much.

Hey, Soaphound, before all the “chaos” in the city ( NYC), we used to catch Broadway shows, at least four or five times a year–
What a cultural disaster not to have the freedom of enjoying the extraordinary talent and genius this country has to offer theatrically and/or otherwise—the kids, especially ( and there are maaany in our family) “crave” everything in the city–
–yes, the music of Streisand and Springsteen is immortal—but, I’m a Freddie Mercury girl–Oh; did you know that Bruce’s lineage is Italian?—-I was taken aback—
And—more importantly, Alexander Graham Bell took the credit for Inventing the telephone–The real inventor was Antonio Meucci who proclaimed he was on the brink of inventing a “talking telegraph”—
But, “someone” stole the idea—It’s documented.—Whenever there is a revolutionary change/invention, you can bet an Italian stands tall above all others!! LOL—“They” anglicized names–am I boring you yet? LOL I will be subbing next week, so you can take a breather from me–
I wish Shay would “come back”— we’d have so much fun!!

Timmm
Carly and Willow’s mother? WHAT??

Nina, not “Carly, and Willow’s mother. Sorry.

Nina, not “Carly, and Willow’s mother.

Shame on me they are just doing their job ! In the early days Stafford was awesome just now they have written her as a cartoon! As for case I know what is going on shame on them ! I just am disgusted you have a great soap and you just literally destroy it! Nope it’s not important but I sure use to like my escape !!!

Ok just a question ??? Why is Rh and Me one hundred different characters ?? Answer we have no answer! Just so you will know I love the soap opera agenda ! I’m just trying to save it

Sure we have an answer….

Frank feels some strange compulsion to keep his old OLTL pals employed. That’s not a bad thing in and of itself, but the first mistake was bringing on their characters from the other show, which was a disaster. Then he had to quickly rewrite them due to the legal hassles, and he struck out twice with both, turning RH into a dead serial killer – and then trying to redeem him as a “family man”. While he turned ME into a doctor who looked just like a vampire and was dead within a year or two (but ironically enough now has three children??)

The third characters for each are the ones he should have started with in the first place. Because they don’t have any baggage from either their old show, nor from past GH characters like vampires & serial killers who should have remained dead.

If neither Austin or Finn have caught on as characters, it’s probably because the viewers are burned out from the previous incarnations.

I’ve said this time and time again, specifically when Silas was then Finn, no one ever came up to him and said “Hey, you look so much like Silas.” Kiki never blinked. Same with all Howarth’s recreations of Todd Manning/ and every one of his other characters on GH!

Pretty sure, based on what I’ve seen and read, the character of Franco was killed off because Disney-ABC did not want a rapist on the canvas, so it meant keeping Roger Howarth and pushing another role onto him; it’s also why Todd Manning did not return to town, which is what should have happened over Austin Gatlin-Holt (who with recast just may work as a character).

However, the re-hiring of Michael Easton has just… fallen flat. It’s time to cut some ties loose.

The Franco death would have been so far along in the planning/writing phase with the plan to bring back Todd (and pair him with Carly). That’s when the network stepped in and said no more rapists effectively axing both Franco and Todd. It also explains the quick write off of Harmony, who helped enable Shiloh’s assaults.

both gave their A game, great hour of soap

Ok the character of Nina was created by Stafford who was so over the top it was embarrassing ! She sucked the character sucked and just nauseating that they are still trying to establish her! But lucky us we have Stafford back at Y&R screaming throwing her arms and all of you losers call it acting!! Gosh put us out of this misery

I just had this weird thought—there will be some kind of mix-up with Esme’s and Willow’s babies.

Considering how they both seem to be at the same point in their pregnancies… despite the fact that Willow was pregnant months before Esme hooked up with her boyfriend’s daddy, you can bet your soul that some sort of baby swap is coming.

Remember the last time Heather was on the loose, she stole Baby Danny from Sam & Jason

I’m not going to attack them anymore they give it their all with the most stupid storylines they read it and they carry on ! God bless them ! I’m just out of this circus I applaud them they are not to blame I just hope somebody does all of them we have four left please just give them a break

The chemistry between case and braeden was off the charts they were so great as a daughter in law and father !! Then bingo MAB decided to have them marry destroyed a relationship off the camera and on! Nobody had the chemistry these two actors had! Braeden needed to stop the hate but he never lets it go ! Stop it Braeden we all want to get past it!

Yes, they do keep repeating the same old tropes. Will this time be anything different? At least with Wiley, we had the added element of adoption with Lucas (remember him?) and Brad.

Technically, Heather wasn’t “on the loose” when Danny & Tea’s deceased baby were switched. Heather had been released and returned to PC to connect with Steven Lars. She was able to blackmail Todd to get a job at the Invader as a result of the baby switch.

When was the last Quartermaine heir to have a mostly normal birth? Scout was born through Sam’s jeans by a dam. Wiley & Danny were each switched. Leo (not genetically a Q) was hidden away with BLQ to protect him from Julian. Jake was presumed to be Lucky’s kid by most everyone in town.

And of course many of us longtime viewers remember Monica giving birth to AJ in the mansion during a storm mistakenly telling Lesley that Rick was the father.

OG Steve
If you can refresh my memory, was it Liz’s baby that was taken and given to Franco’s mother and Lucky went and retrieved him?

LOL–I remember Sam’s “birthing” episode, Steve—I had said as much–that was a classic birth, for sure.

Great minds think alike—yup—‘Tis soap-fare–we’re not supposed to notice these things; nor keep time.
Heather’s brain is at work–absolutely. I just wonder why? What will compel her to switch babies? My theory is: either Esme’s baby dies at birth and Heather will take Willow’s–OR–to shut the Cassadines up, the psycho will take Willow’s baby, and surreptitiously give it to the Cassadines–while she, Ryan and Esme take off together with the Esme’s real baby. Am I making any sense? The only thing is—how to explain the disappearance of Willow’s baby?
Regardless, We both agree that there will be “a whole lotta shakin’ going on…”.
Forgive the typos—always make ’em without fail .

On the other horn, while Heather has stolen babies before, so has Nina. And given Willow’s health, it’s entirely possible that her baby might be the one that does not survive. So Nina could snap and take off with Esme’s baby and convince herself that it’s her grandchild. Of course that would make her instant enemies of Ryan & Heather, who might not be as forgiving as Ava was when Nina stole her kid back in the day…

Actually… I think I like this scenario… as long as it ends properly.

LOL–that will never happen, Satan—instead, this scenario may unfold—Nina catches Heather absconding with Willow’s baby and here comes SuperNina to save it and the day!!! Yeahhyyy!!! Willow will cry her “96 tears” of gratitude, thus welcoming Nina in her arms and life forevermore. There!!❤️

Sounds good to me and I was thinking that Sasha might take one of these babies. She’s still a loose cannon, especially when she finds out Gladys lost all her money, unless Sonny replaces it first. I think if Sasha finds out the money’s been lost, she’ll feel like she’s let Brando down and here we go again.

I’m too tired to contribute further to the Nina vs Carly debate. However, Violet, when you called Sasha a “loose cannon” it reminded me of an infamous typo that came from the AOL soap message boards back in early 2000. A poster called Drucilla from Y&R a “ loose cannibal.” I mean it’s bad enough to be a cannibal but to be a cannibal with no morals? The nerve!

I read on this site ( I think) that Willow won’t make it? Hmmmm—I don’t really want her to leave, but this may bring Michael and Sasha back together??

Doubtful. They’re not going to kill off Willow. Michael/Willow were the plan from the start. That was pretty obvious, ever since they met at their grief support group. I didn’t care either way, but I was surprised when Chase/Willow happened instead. And, I say that as someone who really liked them together.

Chase/Brooklyn were also the plan since 2019. I don’t remember who, but either Frank or Chris confirmed that in Soap Opera Digest over a year ago. It’s why this stupid music storyline with Linc is so infuriating. It’s manufactured angst (just like Willow’s marriage to Chase), before reuniting them at the Nurses Ball or something (a la Nathan/Maxie, who they remind me of and who I absolutely loved).

After all the heartache caused to make Michael/Willow happen, they’re not going to kill Willow off now. She’ll be miraculously cured at the last minute. Michael/Sasha is dead and buried, just like poor Brando and Liam. It’s pretty clear they’re setting her up with Cody.

This Nina (Carly look alike who has her business, husband, etc) and SMike story has ruined GH for me since the Nixon Falls mess. Michele Staffords version of Nina was so much better. This Nina has a ton more chemistry with Valentin and Curtis than with Sonny.
