GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Cates is on Everyone’s Bad Side; Will He Be Eliminated?
This week on General Hospital, Agent John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington) is in hot pursuant to nab Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and more. The just released promo for the action in Port Charles for the week of July 22-26th shows him putting the screws to several people, and they, in turn, are ready to fight back!
Jason (Steve Burton), who finally turned in the evidence last week to Cates, proving Valentin’s involvement with Pikeman, in order to free him from Cates’ blackmail, is in for a major surprise. Cates tells Jason, “Your days as my informant are far from over.” Jason is fuming mad. He spent two and a half years away from his family while trying to protect Carly (Laura Wright) from RICO violations. Now, what does Cates want him to do?
Meanwhile, Carly is no longer going to sit by and watch Jason’s life be derailed. She confronts Cates saying, “Come and get me.” However, Carly knows John is in possession of an incriminating tape tying her to a mob meeting of the five families.

Then, it looks like Ava (Maura West) and John are commiserating over their shared hatred of Sonny. Will they hit the sheets? Is Ava using John? Does she also want him out of the way, or will she by the time he double-crosses her … or will they try to take down Sonny together?
In addition, John visits Anna (Finola) wanting to know the whereabouts of Valentin and if she is the reason he got away? Will she continue to shield the man she is in love with from being caught by the Feds? Stay tuned.
Here are this week’s official teasers from GH:
MONDAY, JULY 22
Laura seeks out Anna. Jason’s plans go awry. Ava and Scott strategize. Sonny makes a request of Michael. Diane issues a warning.
UESDAY, JULY 23

WEDNESDAY, JULY 24
Willow and Nina brainstorm. Kristina and Blaze meet the press. Anna faces off with John. Carly weighs her options. Jason reaches out to Danny.
THURSDAY, JULY 25
John makes a bold move. Anna pursues a hunch. Willow wrestles with her guilt. TJ and Molly make a big decision.
FRIDAY, JULY 26
Jason receives a proposition. Nina drives a hard bargain. Diane seeks out Anna. Sonny is enraged. Kristina is caught off-guard.
Watch Cates at the epicenter of the “All Out War” General Hospital promo below. Now weigh-in: do you think Cates might get murdered and there will be several people who wanted him dead, or do you think he will bring Sonny, Jason and Valentin down? Share your theory via the comment section.
I would like to see Cates stay but I’m not a fan of the Ava pairing. I know there’s a good person in him. He was thoughtful regarding Leo’s autism and when speaking to Olivia. I would like to see more story development for him.
Well, despite having a contract and being part of the last photo shoot, Harrington was not added to the opening credit mix. Pretty much a sign the character isn’t long for Port Charles.
I think it’d be pretty harsh for Sonny or Jason to kill Stone’s brother. As for the character Jagger is today, we’re not really getting to “know” him or care about him. He’s only in scenes where he’s trying to get info on Pikeman or Sonny, or strong arm Jason. There are no Jagger/Scotty scenes where we could get more a personal side to Jagger, there’s no scenes between him and Lois except for when she ran into him & they briefly spoke. I think a pairing between Jagger & Lois could be interesting and fun if they spark up his personality. But I’m not convinced that the show will keep him on; they received too much backlash that Antonio Sabato wasn’t cast, and/or that he was so different in looks from him. The actor isn’t being given a chance for the viewers to like him as Jagger.
Really?!? They received backlash over the washed up AS not being asked back?!? I wouldn’t think anyone would care. I certainly didn’t. This Jagger is so much better! I want him to stick around.
Same viewers who were upset Ingo wasn’t asked back or that Steve was let go for a while.
Frankly.. I’d take Ingo over this version of Jagger any day. I do agree nu-Jagger is not interesting at all and have grown very tired of him…
Ingo’s a no for me. I don’t like him as a human being; I’ve read too many of his social media rants.
As for nuJagger, it’s a shame. He’s a really “strapping” guy. I don’t think I’ve ever used that expression before, lol, but for some reason that came to mind. He’s tall and classically good-looking but his character falls flat. It’s hard to gage his acting chops because he doesn’t have much material to work with.
Sadly, no one has great storylines of late… let’s hope things get going soon
It was Ingo’s own fault that he was not asked back…He burnt bridges by using Disney..End of story….
You’re preaching to the choir. He couldn’t be a bigger jerk if he tried. Totally unhinged. He’s on social media bashing the “libs.” I think that’s they term he used. There’s an emotional immaturity there and a seething anger & resentment. I think the only jobs that’ll come his way will be on right wing media, or if he lucks out and someone like-minded has a project for him. He’s a big risk to take. Way too many actors out there who won’t jump to lawsuits and badmouthing their employees.
Rebecca…I totally agree with what you’re saying. I was never a fan of that Ingo Rademacher dude. To me, he’s not that much of an actor to begin with. Example: A few years ago, I remember how HORRIBLE he was as Thorne Forrester on Bold And Beautiful. To me, he was the WORST Thorne that B&B ever had!!!!! Yikes. I’m not a fan…PERIOD!!!!!
I don’t like this character. I’m sure, inside there is a decent, caring human being, but that part is not being shown, so I in turn hate the way he has been to Carly, Jason, Anna and anyone who can help him get Sonny, which is all he seems interested in, no matter the cost to anyone else. His hatred makes him act like a wild animal, after his prey, and to me , he’s a disgusting and dangerous person, not caring who he hurts, or who gets in his way, as long as gets Sonny. Hopefully, Sonny gets his stuff together in time to put this creature back under the rock he crawled out from. Yes, I’m a Sonny fan, and anyone who feels otherwise, shouldn’t be watching GH, instead of constantly complaining what a terrible person he is, find something without the criminal element. There has always been soaps with unsavory people , as far back as I can remember, some you liked and some you didnt.. I just don’t understand why people keep watching something that they constantly complain about, I don’t think you are being forced or payed to do so.
Write Cates off. So tiresome and bring JPS Valentin back now
YES! THIS!!!
NuJagger’s obsession over the imaginary wrongs he imagines Sonny doing to Karen or Stone are a bit much. It’s one thing for an FBI agent to investigate actual crimes, but that’s not what he’s doing. The made up “RICO charges” against Carly – for attending ONE meeting with alleged crime figures, during which no crimes were actually discussed – are even more of a joke.
J. Edgar Hoover can’t believe how dirty this guy is, and he INVENTED dirty FBI agents!
He didn’t imagine the wrongs Sonny did to Karen. Sonny used Karen; he knew she was an aspiring doctor; he convinced her to be a stripper at his club, got her hooked on drugs, slept with her, kept feeding her pills, and when she wanted to leave he tried to draw her back in with more pills.
Yeah, Sonny did some sleazy things with Karen. But that was early on when Sonny was being written as a 13 week disposable character who didn’t even have a last name yet. Once the producers realized what they had with Maurice Benard they quickly changed the character. After that he wasn’t handing out speed to Karen, but helping her get on a different kind of pill… one that would halp with her psychological issues. Most of which had to do with her mother’s pedo boyfriend who had been assaulting her for years.
And this is some 30 years ago, so my Fuzzy Devil Memory isn’t recalling the details, but I seem to remember Jagger and the pre-brain scrambling, dorky sweater wearing Jason teaming up to send the pedo down here to Hell, where my dragons took care of him.
So while they didn’t start on the best note, ultimately Sonny actually saved Karen’s life and helped her get on the healing path that led her to become a doctor. When she died it was because she got hit by a car. A random accident which had absolutely nothing to do with Sonny, who hadn’t been involved in her life at all for many years. And yet Scotty’s been trying to blame Sonny for years, and now NuJagger is doing it.
And I don’t even know why he’s blaming Sonny for his brother Stone’s death. Sonny took care of Stone during a time when most mortals were still afraid to be in the same room with a person who had AIDS. And Jagger abandoned his terminally ill brother and moved to California, so he’s projecting his own guilt there, apparently?
I still say this Jagger recast was about more than merely excluding Antonio Sabato for being a delusional MAGAtt. They didn’t go with a guy who looked like a younger version of Cyrus the Virus for no reason. At first I wasn’t sure if Jagger knew who his father was, but the way his obsession is escalating in recent weeks makes me wonder if he’s known all along and Cyrus (though we haven’t seen him in a while) is feeding these obsessions, since we all know he has his own obsession with Sonny.
How very interesting to hear more than one version of the ” terrible wrongs” Sonny has done to just about everyone in PC. I’ve only “known” Sonny for 14 years and discounting his racketeering, I’ve only seen his mistreatment of Dex , due to his reduced med intake.Granted, the beat -down of Cyrus, that, ” defenseless ,old man” wasn’t pretty, but deservedly so, considering everything he’s done to others, plus this theory you have about him and Jagger. I think Sonny has been given too much credit for his evil doings and never given a break for the good he does, when his brain is working on all cylinders. Even friends like Laura and Anna have deserted him, seems like some viewers aren’t the only one that hold him in disdain, the writers are right up there with them.
If Cates stays – something will have to come out – bad people holding or keeping tabs on Jagger’s son Stone are threatening the kid. Perhaps Stone Jr has been kidnapped (for years not likely). What brings me to this conclusion is that Phone call Cates took outside of Ava’s hotel room. The guy (or gal) on the other line was nasty – he was all Yes siring the guy. As if the other person on the phone was acting like Cates does with Jason. Nasty.
Either that or we will have a “who killed Jagger Cates” on our hands – Jason & Carly become the prime suspects with Sonny.
If Cates has really become this awful horrible incompet
You might be on to something here. It’s really strange that Jagger would spend several months in Port Charles with a teenage autistic son at home. Jagger hasn’t said anything about a wife, so who is taking care of the kid anyway? Kidnapping would answer that question and explain his desperation maybe. Though I doubt that could be his motivation all the way back to when he abducted Jason in November 2021.
I didn’t finish my sentence before the computer took over and this site does not allow editing – thanks for not gramerically policing me.
If Agent Cates has really become this horrible incompetent FBI nincompoop – then he deserves to the the next “Who killed ………” the show could use one of those.
Now with sexy “Jack” having literally become a ghost on paper at both the PCPD and Pentonville – just makes me wonder what he can do to wipe out an FBI audio stream. Hmmm might be better if our sexy “Jack” can mess with that audio enough and make it seem like an AI fake version to put green gooey slime all over Agent Cates face – his tie and his ill fitting suits.
First we need to see some Ava/Jagger action at the Metro Court. Enough kissing on this show. What we need to see: the pent up coupling of Ava and Cates going at it fast and furiously under the Metro-Court sheets. Thinking that a messy murder in Ava’s hotel bed (with blood all over the sheets) might make for good daytime TV. And who would not believe that Sonny shot both of them?
Now if GH is keeping Adam Harrington as Agent Cates – they need to work double-time to make the guy into a needy and sympathetic character. GH needs to quickly produce the guy behind the curtain – Cates boss – with at least a nasty loud sounding voice and equally horrific version of what they will do to his autistic kid.
If we’re lucky he will and put all of us fans out of our misery, I have never cared for this character and I think GH recasting Jagger who was initially Italian I believe with a blonde haired blue eyed Cates was just ridiculous casting. How can Sonny look at him with a straight face?
Please get Cates off our screen as soon as possible

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
