GENERAL HOSPITAL Promo: ‘Time of Death 5:48’

By Michael Fairman

ABC and General Hospital have released their weekly promo for the episodes surrounding the drama in Port Charles from October 28th through November 1st, with the upshot of Lulu and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) surgeries at its epicenter.

In the promo, worried mothers, Laura (Genie Francis) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), look absolutely devastated. We hear Sam’s beau, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), asking “Any news?”and Alexis wanting to know how her daughter is. Carly (Laura Wright) looks concerned and Jason (Steve Burton) is in tears upon his arrival.

At the end of the spoiler video, we hear Lucas’ (Van Hansis) voice in the OR calling the time of death as “5:48.” GH fans are bracing themselves for this to be the passing of Sam McCall, who seemingly will somehow pass away during the procedure, unless this is a red-herring and the time of death call is actually about Lulu, but somehow she is revived?

Meanwhile, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) has come to tell Cody (Josh Kelly) that they are biological cousins which would for all intent and purposes destroy their relationship. However, it looks like Cody might be proposing to Sasha right before she gets a chance to tell him. What will she do now?

Take a look below at the GH promo for the week of October 28th. Then, let us know in the comment section, how you think this will all play out based on the preview video.

Buh-bye Sam, and HELLO to Lulu Spencer!!! It’s about damn time. A worth-while trade!

(before, anyone tries it: this is simply about character…. not actor)

Absolutely agree!

It is about actor. She was fired and hurt

Um, no, my comment was purely about the CHARACTER.

Agree 100%

I agree, Sam has not had a good story in years! The pairing of her with Dante sealed her fate! They were the most boring couple!

I loved Sam and Dante. Seeing Sam degrade herself to the back of the line after Carly in her relationship with Jason was cringe-worthy. Sam and Dante, just like Sam and Drew, were a couple filled with believable love and respect for each other. The attraction was there, the romance, yet there was a maturity and a warmth. I loved Jason and Sam back in the day, and I mean from 20 to 15 years ago or whenever their “young” love started. And then Jason got more and more into Carly lapdog mode and their was no point to a Jason/Sam relationship.

It should be about actor. Not only is “Sam” a legacy characters, Kelly Monaco is a vet. Trading Kelly for an actress who is new to the role of Lulu isn’t even comparable. Even if Julie Berman had come back, I’d hate to see a vet for a vet. GH is losing way too many legacy characters, and many of the vets have either retired or unfortunately passed in real life. Killing off yet another legacy character is horrible and unnecessary, and seems like, as Kelly Monaco stated, “retaliation.”

Totally Agree

I so agree with you. I hate that they are killing off Sam and letting Kelly go. She’s one of the reasons I watch GH. She should not have been let go. They need to save Sam and keep Kelly!

I agree with you!!

I think that it should be both. Kelly Monaco is a vet. Sam has been a big part of the show. I’m going to miss Sam. Good luck to Kelly.

When Sam is leaving the show, so am I and all of my friends, also ?.You are not only loosing an Amazing and Talented actress like Kelly Monaco, you are loosing a lot of Fans..BYE BYE GENERAL HOSPITAL, WE’RE DONE…✋✋

I am done if Kelly Monaco leaves. What is wrong with these writers? Perhaps a set of NEW writers should come into play. Make it a dream for Kelly, but please don’t kill off Kelly.

Let’s be sure to separate real life and fiction – the character of Sam is presumably being killed off. Kelly Monaco will continue to live and hopefully have a successful acting career.

I agree with you. This is ridiculous! The fact they are killing her character like this. Absolutely wrong. They could have left it open somehow. If she turns up on Y&R I am moving over.

I agree. Kelly should stay and be given a better storyline.

If Sam goes so do I and a lot of other people, get rid of Portia she is a HORRIBLE actress and so boring——SAD——-

Yes please get rid of Portia, not a good actress. Sam and Dante needs to stay together. Drew, needs to go. I’m so upset about Sasha and Cody, they need to stay together.

Definitely agree! I am sick & tired of her annoying overbearing manipulative lying azz

I want to puncture my ear drums Everytime she starts talking…. Her and Trina

Agree with you

Absolutely agree with you, I really don’t like Portia either, I say it all the time. I love Sam and Danta together.

Agree

To hell with GH!!

Beware of Mrs Robinson.

I AGREE ABOUT PORTIA

I definitely agree!

Yes! Get rid of Portia!
Can’t stand her

Agree, it’s totally not making any sense. Too many changes, too many new faces. And, story lines are taking too long and not enough turns!

Except Rebecca, my comment itself is NOT about the actor(s) and about the characters.

I know that which is why I disagreed with your jubilation at getting rid of “Sam.” You said it wasn’t about the actor and I said well, yes, it IS about the actor AND the character. Kelly Monaco has played Sam for 20 years; that’s a long time for many viewers to become attached to the character and the actor (and lest we confuse this with actual real life attachment to “Sam” I mean in the GH world). That would be like saying it’s about time they got rid of Jason or Monica..with no consideration that at the same time they’d be getting rid of two of GH’s vets. We’re not talking about a new character; we’re talking about legacy characters and the actors who have played them for years. So it is a double loss, one that seems unnecessary.

If they kill off Sam in a way that is impossible to write a soapy back-from-the-dead, story, they’ve (as I previously wrote) cost us another legacy character and vet. On a show that’s lost so many, this was cruel and unnecessary. Many other ways to write off a character and leave the door open. Seems there’s too much emotionally immaturity behind-the-scenes to put the show’s history first, or respect the wishes of a vast amount of viewers who have helped keep GH on the air for so long. And, like all jobs, seems like those in charge blindside their employees by cruelly throwing them out. They did it to Stuart Damon too. It’s cutthroat and hurts the actor, the show, and the viewers.

Totally agree (Sam) Kelly Monaco must stay No Sam no Gh

No good deed goes unpunished…

I am totally on board about Portia. She’s whinny and not a good fit for Curtis. Would love to see Curtis back with Jordan. Keep Sam and get rid of Portia, Nina and Drew.

I can’t stand Portia. Hypocrite—And, remember, she stole Curtis whom I used to praise—No more—Any guy who bows and kowtows to a wily woman is no man!!

I want Lulu back. I know it’s been a long time but I would like Lulu and Dante back together!

Good grief guys, he meant his statement…He’s happy Lulu is coming back.. An Sam has been on a down slope every since she GREW to big of lips for her face .. Attack me, but I still loved Sam and will cry my eyes out when she does pass away.

Thanks Clare; I appreciate your response so much, because you understood: it was about the characters. Gosh. People cannot read; happy you do!

It seems like you’re the one not reading. People are upset that Kelly AND Sam are leaving. I’m not sure what you’re not getting. This is not a new character and a new actress; both Sam AND Kelly are in effect, being fired. It’s not just about the character, it’s about the actress who’s played her for twenty years. If you got tired of the character; great. We all have different opinions. But as I already mentioned, the character and the actor are intertwined at this point in terms of the loss. We’re losing
Sam, we’re losing Kelly playing Sam. Saying it’s not about the actor means you didn’t want to get attacked; you were just happy to see
Sam go and you prefer Lulu. We get it. I explained why (several times) that it is about both, even if it’s not for you.

And you’re thanking someone who just insulted Kelly and her “big pair of lips.” So, there’s that.

Speak for yourself! Maybe you consider it a worthwhile trade. I’ll take Sam anyway over loopy Lulu. Hopefully, this new one will be able to be taken more seriously. All she did was crazy, immature things, especially when in cahoots with Maxi. At least Sam acted like a grown up woman, not someone always sticking her nose in unwanted places and doing silly things.

Lulu has been out of the soap for a long time. Let her go and keep Sam!!! “Sam” is the greatest! The writers need to take a chill pill and listen to the fans for a change, please!!! I’ve been watching for 60 years and have seen a lot of good actors/charecters come and go and come back to life and come back as somebody else. Please keep Sam!!!

Please keep Sam; don’t kill her off. You can still have an amazing story with her being alive

Loretta

Definitely!

Agreed!!!

Good for Lulu.Feel bad for Sam .Hope she return to GH. GOOD actress.

I agree. Keep Kelly or atleast don’t kill her off.

I hate that Kelly’s gone she was a GREAT ASSET to the show, #FIREFRANK #BRINGBACKKELLY… I WANT WAR AGAINST FRANK FOR HIS STUPIDNESS… HES KILLING THE SHOW SO IT’LL GET CANCELLED WHAT A PIECE OF HE IS

Never thought of it that way but now I believe it. Money talks vet actors walk.

It’s not frank it’s disney!!

What retaliation is Kelly Monaco talking about.

Instead of killing sam off if they wanted Kelly out permanently they could have asked Lindsay if she was/would be interested playing Sam full time

No !! It’s time for the charcter and the actor to go, permanently!!

I agree only Kelly Monaco can play Sam McCall, No disrespect to Lindsay but Kelly Monaco played Samantha McCall for 21 years so it has to end with her that’s like somebody substituting for Maurice Bernard to play Sonny, It Don’t Fit man there’s only one person that can play Sonny and that’s Maurice Bernard. Same thing goes for Sam, It’s Kelly!!!
Now they can bring Lindsay as a new character she earned that right but not Sam McCall-Davis Sorry ‍♂️

I absolutely with everything you just said. Absolutely Noone else can play Sam or Sonny. These Vets are there characters they have done them justice can’t see anyone else playing either of these characters.True maybe they need to get rid of Frank. We all have been watching this show since we where young .I laugh with theses characters and I cry with them to.Its maybe funny to say ,but they are like family.

Lindsey wasn’t that great in my opinion. What they did to Kelly was shameful.

I agree .i liked Lindsay

I will not be watching GH any more. They made one to many mistakes in writing story line.

Please not another hostage situation! So repetitive and hopefully not in a cement room in a faraway country

Hope neither die during the surgery. Both can create new exciting story lines.

I agree there’s others who can leave the show.

The Sasha Cody storyline is stupid. It is totally legal to marry your first cousin in several parts of the world including New York State. Do the writers not realize that?

Gross.

Time to get message to gh writers it’s legal for 1st cousins to get married & have kids it’s better than being brother & sister. Someone needs to tell Cody & Sasha it’s ok for them as a couple to marry & even have kids it’s ok

Having cousins marry borders on incest. It is not normal. Anyway Holly is lying about the whole situation. I can t stand Holly.

But not advisable to have children in real life

I do not believe that either holly or Robert are Sasha s parents. Holly is a liar and a con artist. I believe Luke is possibly Sasha s father or Nina and her first husband are I hope Sasha and Coty get together. Sam and Jason and Sonny and Carly were the most dynamic couples on the show until the producers decided to put random people together that made no sense. Sam and Dante are not a good match. Dante belongs with Lulu. They are taking Alexis off who is a great character and keeping Ava and ric They are also ruining Michael s relationship with willow. Why is Cyrus still on the show? His storyline has gotten played out.

Exactly!! The writers are messing up GH..They started with Sonny coming back & getting with Nina over Family!!

Yes Lulu with Dante. Sam seems like she always said?? Portia send her on her way!

Totally agree. Why assume they can’t be together? Are they Catholic? The church forbids it

Monaco has never been a good actress and her voice is extremely irritating. Good riddance. Never was a good character or story line behind her.

True I would like Lulu back with Dante

I am so upset that they are taking Sam and Alexis off the show and bringing back holly and with Lulu yes I wanted her to survive but not at the expense of losing Sam and Alexis which are great actresses. I was hoping Sam and Jason would have reunited and Dante and Lulu would get together. Now they are destroying Sasha and Coty who are one of the best couples on the show. I am really getting disgusted with gh and I do not know if I will continue watching. The writers of the show have ruined it. Why do they kill every character off. Why can t they have a character leave with the possibility of returning. They ruined Carly and Sonny for 2 new characters that are okay but do not really belong with them. I am not thrilled with Natasha or Brennan. Jason with Anna is absurd. Anna too old for Jason. They bought back Ric Lansing and they. are keeping Ava. What a joke.

Sam looks Sad most of the time.

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is not leaving the show.

Who says Alexis is leaving???.

I keep thinking .. “IM SO SURE!!!” Someone in a “coma” as long as “Lulu” has been…would have been physically “curled up” by now!!! She won’t be able to talk normally when she “wakes up” either…just WATCH , they will wake her up, and she will be “normal” right away!… SO unrealistic… anyone in a coma like that will need “rehbilitation” for MONTHS, even YEARS.. IN REAL LIFE.

I am worry that if Sam dies in surgery as doner it will discourage people from donating organs. This program does show case different health issues even as a soap.

YES! YES, YES. this show used to bring education about some health issues to people whom would never learn. I have always respected that. What the he77 are you people doing? Yes all surgery is risky and people do die, but are you trying to discourage donor transplants? I pray that someone you know never needs one and a possible donor match is unwilling to donate because of what they seen on your show!

Why are they doing this to Cody and Sasha????
It’s aweful!!!!!!

PLEASE GET RID OF PORTIA AND HER HAIR AND AT LEAST LEAVE IT SO SAM CAN COME BACK. DON’T LET HER DIE!

I don’t know why they brought back Holly she’s boring never liked her
Get rid of her and take Portia with her

Well at least Sam can go out on a high note, saving lulu’s life and a better drama filled story, then she ever had then when she was still alive.

I agree! Nothing brings on Fanfare like a good Death!

Yesterday wasn’t soon enough for GH character Sam McCall to Exit..stage left! Kelly Monaco has had some good moments but I agree with Frank V. in writing in her demise. Both the character of Sam and the story line with Dante has gone ‘stagnant and has run it’s course.

Poor Sasha, She’s like literally in her own tortured poet’s department.

Such a shame that this storyline leaked in advance. Would have been so much better if the actors and crew could have kept the lid on this. What an amazing moment it would have made. As it is, it’s like watching Titanic. Yeah, it’s great fun, but you know the ship’s gonna sink!

I agree! Sam needs a better storyline! She’s a great actress, they need to let her shine! I don’t know who thought it would be a good idea to let her go, she has a fan base, people tune in to see her and other familiar faces. If they let her go, I feel the show will loose viewers, and that it’s an all around mistake.
SAVE SAM !!

Please don’t kill sam I love her Character.

Me Too.

No no Sam will be missed

Please do not kill Sam! All you have to do is put Sam back with Jason! Back in the day before Dani! Before Jason went away him and Sam were the hot couple! They couldn’t keep their hands off of each other. Please give them another chance! Jason and Carley has no sparks! Their dead in the water from the get go.

I cannot believe that they are getting rid of Sam. So sad. I love Sam and Dante together. Fire the writers not the good characters. And what the heck is this with Sasha and Cody, hello give Sasha a break. Hasn’t her character gone through enough??? Ugggg

I just can’t believe that the show are getting raid of the veteran actors qnd bringing back one’s that haven’t been involved in the show for a long time. Especially Sam I would have never written Lulu back in to get Sam out it’s not even the original Lulu it’s some new actor. BAD DECISION.

Vets are vets. I personally welcome back all the vets and the legacy characters. It’s the new characters that shouldn’t be in place of the vets, the history, the legacy families and characters. But in this case I don’t think it was a trade; no matter who else they brought back or didn’t, it had nothing to do with the decision to fire Kelly.
This was personal and brewing a long time.

So sad they let Kelly go. They destroyed her storyline which was the writers fault

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
