On Friday’s, September 13th episode of General Hospital, Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) are caught in the crosshairs as the police continue to investigate who shot and killed John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Sonny (Maurice Benard) comes to visit Alexis and she tells him they need to find a way to keep Kristina from being charged for a murder they both know she didn’t commit. When Sonny asks where Kristina was the night of Cates murder, she says “She was here with me until she left to steal a gun from you!”

Alexis explained the night of the murder, Kristina came into the house soaked having visited Adela’s grave in the thunderstorm. She tells Sonny a gun is against her bail restrictions. Next, Alexis shares her worries that she had feared that Kristina would shoot someone or even herself that is why she got rid of the gun that night. At the time, she did that, she had no idea Agent Cates was being murdered with the same type of gun!

Admitting to Sonny, the police have already questioned her about the night of the murder, Sonny asks her what she said. Alexis fires back if he is wondering if she incriminated Kristina or him. Alexis wants Sonny to confess to murdering Cates. However, Sonny claims he had nothing to do with it and Carly (Laura Wright) has his alibi. Alexis is not buying his act for one second, and if he were innocent he wouldn’t need Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) to defend him, which is why Diane can’t defend her.

At Michael’s (Chad Duell) office, he tells Kristina he has a plan to help get Alexis and her out of this jam and to pin the crime on one of Cates’ long list of enemies and pay them off to do so. After Kristina is called to the PCPD and questioned by Chase (Josh Swickard), with Michael present, Chase asks Kristina where she was the night Cates was murdered. She explains she was home all night, except for going to the cemetery for about 30 minutes. Michael says she is done talking until she has a lawyer present.

Later, Michael asks Kristina, do the police have anything on her that she is not telling him? He can tell she is hiding something because she is blinking her eyes rapidly. Kristina admits she made one more stop that night. She pulled into the Quartermaine driveway for a few seconds, where she admits she considered murdering Cates.

At the end of the episode, Mac (John J. York) goes to Alexis’ house and arrests her for the murder of John Cates as Sonny stands by and watches. Alexis shoots him daggers while she is being hauled off to the PCPD.

Elsewhere at General Hospital, Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) warns Jason (Steve Burton) that Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is too dangerous for one man to take down by himself. Jason is intent on rescuing Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) at Carly’s request and says he needs some kind of advantage to get him in the door. Isaiah says there is only one weakness to exploit: Sidwell’s girlfriend, who Sidwell calls “English” (which GH fans know “English” was the name Luke Spencer called Holly Sutton).

Meanwhile, Anna (Finola Hughes) is determined to get Lucky’s location in Africa from Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure). She explains Luke and her were friends and that he always looked out for her daughter, Robin. She pays her debts. Brennan snark he’ll remember that when it’s time for him to collect and gives her the newest location for Sidwell.

Carly says goodbye to Jason who is heading to Africa, and leaves a message for Laura that Jason is on his way to help her find her son, while Felicia (Kristina Wagner) and Anna talk before Anna takes off on her mission to save Lucky with her gun.

In the GH hallway, Brennan tells Carly that it’s a special kind of hell when you don’t know if someone you care about will come home. She didn’t expect him to understand what anyone of them is going through with trying to rescue Lucky, but clearly he does, giving us more questions about Brennan’s motives and his past than answers.

Courtesy/ABC

At the end of the episode, Anna and Jason find themselves travel partners as their seats are seemingly next to each other as they both head out of Port Charles to find Lucky, leading some fans to speculate that perhaps, a Anna and Jason pairing could be right around the corner? Hmmm.

So, what do you think about Sonny watching Alexis being handcuffed and taken into custody for a murder she did not commit? Comment below.

I love GH characters but I’m tired of the dynamic between Alexis and Kristina. If getting arrested is what finally gets Alexis to stop coddling Kristina, then so be it. I’m so glad someone finally said out loud that Kristina should be in a facility getting help. The irony being Sonny is the one who said it. I was sympathetic toward Kristina during the pregnancy and for a while after. But now I’m over it. It’s clear Kristina may have other mental health issues aside from PTSD and postpartum. She’s Sonny’s child after all. They need to look into that once and for all.

Despite Wackadoodle Kristina calling her “Adela”, the baby’s name was Irene.

At this point, anyone with the last name of Corinthos (over the age of 18) is just vile. Michael has lost any shred of decency by covering up Sonny’s guilt and now suggesting they hire a fall guy. Kristina needs Kevin to come back from his adventure quick to examine her. And Sonny, just make it stop. What’s next – will Avery will be a suspect?

Switching gears, someone on social media found Carly and Lulu’s last scene together was in 2013 (7 years before Lulu went into a coma.). The shoehorning of Carly into leading storylines may be unnecessary but was probably done here to give her more scenes with Jack.

Thank you for confirming what I was wondering about Carly and Lulu having few scenes together.

That baby was physically her child and she named her Adela, which I think was her right, just as T.J had the right to call her what he wanted, with him being the bio father. We are all never going to see eye to eye on this , but all I know if I carried a baby for 9months, from my egg, it would definitely be my child, and anyone but the father laying claim to it,could go to hell!

Look up surrogacy. Kristina violated her agreement time and time again.

No,No,No. I’d never watch with that relationship! Makes me sick just thinking of them together, especially with what they’ve done to her character. I wonder how she likes playing this new Anna that seems to hate everyone, since she lost her lover, and even when she’s at her worst and giving someone a hard time, she has her demonic smile going full speed. Yuk!, so sick of her, if she ever gets her claws in Jason, that’s the end for me. You can have her Satan, just kidding, I like you and wouldn’t wish her on you or ANYONE!

The part in Anna’s hair changed when her character changed too.

Well, her part has sure changed, period!

Nancy looks good for 68 she is a good actress not watched since 2019 I got tired of both sides constantly harping on Twitter politics you know we just what a escape and since you can’t stop it I stopped you.

Tracy was team Sasha for a long time. Not liking this writing change. Tracy makes me laugh and I love her but this switch in the writing is annoying.

It’s not a switch in the writing. Lois called out the fear & loneliness that Tracy’s feeling. She lashed out because of her fear of losing Brook Lynn to a baby and her growing family, and losing her friendship with Cody to Sasha and his newfound family with Mac. Tracy needs a relationship; it’s a shame (and a wrong decision) that they killed off Gregory.

Yes I know both Lois and Felicia explained it but I still think it’s a desperate change in writing. Tracy fought for Sasha to be the face of Deception over Blaze in the beginning. Sasha later won Tracy over again when she became the Q cook. She’s always known Cody and Sasha were headed toward being an item. This feels like a stretch even for Tracy. The actor who portrays Cody already teased he would be game for a Cody-Tracy pairing so whatever. GH is going full tilt with the bazaar pairings. Jason and Anna. Drew and Willow. Tracy and Cody. Feels like someone over at GH wants to be as outrageous as RC.

I don’t really know what to say about Michael and how calculated he can be. Willow is better off getting away from him. I’m grossed out by the Drew pairing but if it gets her away from Michael I guess I don’t care anymore.

I think there’s a twist coming here. The fact that it was a “dark and stormy night” when Jagger got sent down here to Hell is going to play into it.

What we thought we saw on screen was Jagger going out of his way to provoke Sonny, resulting in Sonny saying “you should have never threatened my daughter” and then putting two bullets in his chest.

But if it was really going to be that simple, why bother with the weather theatrics? Are storms like that really the usual weather in late August in upstate New York??

Now that Kristina has admitted to Michael that she was at the Quartermaine estate on the night of the murder, it opens up some other possibilities. For one thing, we know that she was driving Alexis’s car. If the Q’s had surveillance cameras at the gates, they probably caught the car on tape, ran the plates, and this – along with the gun tossing – might be the reason they sent Mac to arrest Alexis. Because the assumption is, if her car was at the scene of the crime, so was she.

The other possibility here is… given Kristina’s emotional state and the physical injuries she’s recovering from, is it possible she might have “blacked out” after driving to the Quartermaines, made her way to the boat house, and shot Jagger from a distance, either at the same time her daddy shot him, or the sound of her gunfire was muted by thunder from the storm, maybe?

Some mortals have questioned whether Jagger might have been wearing a vest, even equipped with fake blood packs, to set Sonny up on a fake murder charge. Yet Jagger is indeed in Hell, so if that was his plan, it failed. Most bullet proof vests have a front and a back, but not “sides”. So what if the two bullets Sonny put in him only hit a rigged vest, but a third shot hit him in the unprotected side, did some major organ damage when it got there, and turned his fake death into a real one. Yeah, I realize this last part is a stretch, and somebody should have noticed the fakery when they took the body away. But we’re just now hearing that Krissy was on the premises for a reason… because it previously looked like she was rolling in the mud on her baby’s grave that entire time.

I always felt since Sonny was seen shooting Cates that it was too obvious. Of course, he’s a thug and has shot his own son but this time it was so open and shut. My (lame) theory is Sonny actually blacked out and someone else shot Cates. I don’t think it was anyone important but I just don’t think it was Sonny. Now, the last minute red herring about being at the driveway at the Q’s further makes me believe it wasn’t Sonny. At first, I was getting confused when Michael kept questioning Kristina about that night. I started questioning myself if he knew about Kristina stopping by Sonny’s place and getting the gun. Then all of sudden she says she was at the Q’s?!?! So (somehow) Sonny blacked out, Cates was shot and Michael came up upon it seconds later.

The writing on this show is such a mess, no wonder they’ve been hemorrhaging viewers in the ratings. Been watching GH for 31 years, and there have been few times that have pissed me off as a viewer as much as what’s been going on for the past couple of weeks. Some of the garbage they’re writing is almost so bad that it’s insulting.

GH is built around Sonny, Carly and their family. A family where one of them commits murder, they all lie about it and cover it up, and then allow an innocent person to be arrested for the crime. Are we as viewers supposed to be rooting for the Corinthos family? Are we supposed to want to see Sonny get away with murder? Are we supposed to be happy that Michael and Kristina are conspiring to cover up their father’s murder, along with his ex-wife? What a backwards way to write a show!

Sonny, Kristina and Michael make me sick. I hope the entire Corinthos family ends up in a prison cell when this murder/cover up scheme is done with. But we know that will never happen, Sonny is never made to pay for any of the crimes he ever commits. Carly makes me sick. Trying to make it look like all of a sudden she has this close relationship with Lulu and the Spencer side of her family, give me a break. The idea of an Anna/Jason romantic pairing makes me sick. No thank you. Drew and Willow make me sick, instant fast forward for me every time they appear on the screen.

Dan, I had to read your name more than once to realize that this post wasn’t written by me. Needless to say, I completely agree with you and couldn’t have said it better myself. Cheers!

I’d definitely be open to a Jason/Anna romance, though I’m not sure that’s where the story is headed. It seems to be, the writers are definitely trying to lead us to think there might be, but if the writers are testing the waters (and viewer reaction) they might nix the idea because of all those who seem “aghast” and “appalled” as if they’re new to soaps. I think it could be really interesting to see these two in a relationship neither saw coming… And, I don’t care that she’s Robin’s mother. Robin and Jason were thirty years ago. There have been quite a few couples where the parent is dating their child’s ex or vice versa. And, in reality, Finola and Steve are only about ten years apart. In-story, their characters, maybe 14. If there was a vote, I’d say go for it…

I don’t see Jason ever hooking up with a cop. Let alone Robin’s mom. That would be too weird.

Well.. at least it is not an uncle going after his nephews wife. Willow is best away from both Drew and Michael.

Where the hell is Scott Baldwin? I know he isn’t well liked but not even Elizabeth nor Lulu wants to officially report him missing? Is he locked away on the island with the pharmacist? Is the pharmacist still being held or did Sonny and Jason let him go? Has Scott been free all this time and was lurking around spying on Sonny? Was he at the Q’s on that stormy night?

Oops I meant Lucy, not Lulu.

So glad that Marty Grey is coming to Alexis’s rescue, even if she thinks she doesn’t need another lawyer’s help. I’m still wondering what they did with Scotty, probably stashed him down in Puerto Rico at Sonny’s place with the naughty Pharmacist.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
