GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase’s Wedding Reception Brings a Beatdown for Dex
On Friday’s, May 17th episode of General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase’s (Josh Swickard) wedding reception was the focal point as the touching celebration for the newlyweds got underway.
Sonny (Maurice Benard) was seething over seeing Dex mingle with the guests. With Dex becoming a cop, and ratting him out to Anna, previously Sonny feels betrayed by his former hit man. However, Sonny’s growing paranoia and mental stability is in question, in particular, because he has been off the proper dosage of meds for months now.
Later, when Sonny sees Dex talking with Gio (Giovanni Mazza) about serving in the military, and later chumming it up with Cerullos, he is about to go postal.

Outside the ballroom. Sonny confronts Dex about chatting it up with the Cerullos, who he says are his people. He warns Dex to stay away from his family. Dex says he was invited to the reception.
Next, Sonny calls Dex a snitch, a spy, and lets him know he is “lucky to be breathing.” Sonny issues Dex a warning to stay away from his family, or he may not be breathing much longer.
As Sonny turns to walk away., Dex grabs him by the arm to try to reason with him and to and say he’s not his enemy. However, Sonny throws a punch. In the pickup, Sonny continues to bloody and beatdown Dex, until Jason (Steve Burton) arrives on the scene and restrains Sonny.

Kristina (Kate Mansi) walks in on the moment. She sees her father is yelling that both Jason and Dex are traitors. Sonny screams that they are both dead and he’s going to put a gun to their heads.

In happy news, Brook Lynn and Chase finally begin their wedding night when they jump onto of their bed in their honeymoon suite. Chase says now they have a great wedding night, which will be followed by a great honeymoon, and that will be followed by their entire life together. They share a kiss.

I did enjoy most of the wedding and the large amount of cast shown – biggest event post Covid. Jason’s interaction with Gloria (without bringing up the name difference) and Tracy’s subtle way of helping Gregory stand out.
Mo has obviously been enjoying how they’ve been portraying Sonny’s descent into unstableness. The show needs to be a bit more realistic as Sonny’s no spring chicken and the thought of him beating up on a 20-something ex-military guy is far fetched.
Dex being a ex-military guy is far fetched. He never could fight, or shoot very well. What exactly did he supposedly do in the military? Must have been one of the guys who piloted drones from a chair, just like a video game.
It did seem kind of odd that Gloria wouldn’t know about what happened to Jason back in 1996. Though Lois had returned to Bensonhurst by then, it can be assumed she was still in contact with Ned, Sonny, and Brenda and one of them would have mentioned AJ’s drunken car-meets-tree incident, and what happened to Jason as a result.
Goria not remembering the Jason incident – very odd. The whole reason Lois broke up with Ned – or at least the beginning of the end – had to do with the AJ secret Ned was keeping to “protect the family”. Ned was cruel to AJ and Lois was having none of it. On the other hand, how can one expect an elderly lady to remember 30-year-old details about a rich family’s cousin?
As for Dex – he has saved quite a few lives since he came to Port Charles. He apparently aced the PDPC recruit exams and was at the top of the firearms testing. Dex also was clearly able to deck and immobilize Spencer several times in the past with just one or two moves (I know – spoiled trust fun baby brat Spencer not much of a challenge). What I am trying to say here is Dex chooses his battles. Knowing they were in the middle of a still open Metro Court lobby – is not like getting beat down in a back alley. Just sayin.
Per your last sentence. Sonny could beat up Dex or old Cyrus, especially when they don’t fight back. We know Cyrus’s reasons but not sure about Dex’s.
Loved the wedding but hope they soon wrap this Sonny losing it story.
Please, let’s get the Sonny situation over with, expose Ava as to who she really is, would like to see Sonny and Jason reconciled. Also, would like to see Nina and her daughter, Willow have a good relationship along with the grandchildren.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80
Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.
PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
