General Hospital’s Cyrus Renault Gets a ‘New’ Look
Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, left more questions than answers as it seems viewers are about to find out the connection between the currently imprisoned Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), Austin Gatlin-Host (Roger Howarth) and Austin’s cousin, Mason (Nathanyael Grey).
While at Pentonville, Cyrus looks in the mirror and talks to the lord. He first views himself himself with long hair. Next, he shaves his face. Later, with a scissor hidden in his prison pants, he takes it out and begins to cut off his hair! (And in real life, Kober’s long locks are now ‘officially’ gone).
At the end of the episode, Austin comes to see the new look Cyrus – clean shaven with a stylish cut. Austin was given instructions from Mason to deliver the flash drive an he arrives at the prison to meet none other than Cyrus. The hard drive given to Mason from Betty, the nanny, was supposed to contain damaging info on Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) connection and deals with Pikeman.

However, as viewers know, it’s part of a set-up by Sonny; along with assistance from Brick (Stephen A. Smith) and Dex (Evan Hofer). In addition, Mason was seen meeting up with someone who’s face has not been revealed. In a preview for Wednesday’s August 23rd episode of GH, Austin tells Cyrus his debt is now paid in full, and there should be no further strings attached to him. Highly unlikely!
General Hospital shared the transformation of Jeff Kober’s new hair style at the capable hands of stylist of Abraham Rivera. They shared, Jeff Kober entrusted our award-winning Hair and Makeup Team (feat. @AbrahamJosephR) with trimming his legendary locks for Cyrus’ dramatic prison transformation. Take a look!”

So, what do you think of Jeff Kober aka Cyrus Renault’s new look? What will be his connection to ‘Pikeman’? What do you think is going on between Cyrus, Austin and Mason? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
So even though FrAustin & his cousin Skinhead Mason have said for months that their unseen boss was a woman and a family member, we’re now supposed to believe that the head of the “Pawtuck Mafia” is actually Cyrus the Virus??
Well, that doesn’t make any sense, does it?
Here’s what does make sense…..
FrAustin’s mother was Charity Gatlin. Somebody who named their child “Charity” is likely to have another child named something like… oh I don’t know… FAITH, maybe?
Faith Roscoe is a known crime boss. Unfortunately, she’s also known to have escaped from Hell (sorry about that. We’re not sure exactly when she got out, but apparently it was a while back)
So what’s the link between Cyrus & Faith? Remember that Cyrus’s brother, Martin has an ex-wife that’s still paying him “alimony”. What if that alimony is really hush money so he keeps his mouth shut about who his ex wife actually is, and what she’s been up to?
So would Cyrus go into business with his (former) sister in law, since both are known mob types? Why the Hell not?
How does Cyrus’s sudden “makeover” fit into this? When Cyrus was in the hospital with his alleged heart attack, FrAustin didn’t seem to recognize him. If he hadn’t seen “uncle Cyrus” since he was a kid, the beard & ponytail might have thrown him off. Now that Cyrus has shorter hair & a clean face, FrAustin seems to recognize him, and knows who he’s dealing with.
The whole thing still seems like a sloppy rewrite, but at least my theory makes some sense out of it all.
Also the way Àustin described his mother’s actions when Cyrus visitited, also makes me wonder if indeed he is possibly Austin’s father and I’m still remembering Austin saying that for that time, he could stop being his mother’s ” good little man”.All very interesting, even if it’s all written on the fly its better than some of the junk we’ve been getting.
I love the way they have Cyrus looking now!!
He has a very “Being John Malkovich” essence to his roles.
Glad he is back on GH, but also enjoyed him on Big Sky.
So many opportunities of storylines to be tied together…
I figured this was where things were headed with Cyrus when he shared that sly look with Austin when he was getting on the elevator at the hospital in his wheelchair, and when Austin and Mason started referring to their boss as “he” instead of “she” as they had previously, which was apparently a change in the story. Or is it, maybe there still is a she, maybe Cyrus is in cahoots with Selena Wu? Who knows, a lot of directions they can go in.
Despite the fact that it seems like they’re making up the story as they go, and changing things on the fly, I’m enjoying it. Anything that brings back the evil Cyrus Renault character to the screen. Jeff Kober is a fantastic actor, I’ll watch him in anything. GH is better when he’s on it.
I loved his transformation scenes, it reminded me of when Brad Maule shaved his head on screen when Tony Jones became Crazy Tony. Kudos to Jeff for letting them cut his hair and change his look for the sake of the story. He looks great, and I’m very intrigued to see where this story goes next.
Shh.. Shush.. Focus on my hair cutting. Don’t talk and quit moving your head Jeff
I liked Kober’s long hair, but then again I’m a headbanger!
Been a fan since he was on highway to heaven 40 years ago. He had long hair then too. Love the look.
Leopard stripes never change

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
