The Thursday, October 10th episode of ABC’s General Hospital, brought with it the long-awaited reunion on-screen of Laura Collins and her son, Lucky Spencer, which has been years in the making. In real-life, longtime viewers of the show saw fan favorites, Genie Francis and Jonathan Jackson finally together in scenes for the first time since Jackson’s return.

In story, as Lucky is reeling from learning he cannot be his sister’s (Lulu) liver donor, and feels like a failure, his first instinct is to run away and go back to Africa. However, he was just rescued there by Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and company. Now in the hospital chapel, and conflicted on what he should do next, he prays to God for a sign. Enter his mother, Laura who lays eyes on him in the chapel.

The two share a warm embrace and Laura tells her son, she is so grateful he’s come back to Port Charles to help his sister. Laura asks if he has seen his son yet, and Lucky says he has seen Aiden (Colin Cassidy) and he is a good kid. However, he credits all that is good with Aiden to Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). In fact, Laura reveals it was Elizabeth who told her that Lucky was in the chapel.  At that moment, Lucky realizes Laura doesn’t know the truth. So, he braces himself and in tears, tells his mom, he can’t be Lulu’s donor.

Lucky goes on to explain that his liver isn’t healthy enough, in part, due to a parasite he picked up somewhere in his travels. Wracked with guilt, Lucky cries that he can’t make up for failing Lulu when she was a baby and now not coming through for her again.  Laura tells Lucky, now he can give her his love and strength and convince her to pull through her ordeal. Lucky says if that doesn’t work, then this is all his fault. As he sees it, if he hadn’t stayed away from Port Charles, instead of being in combat zones, then he wouldn’t have a parasite, and he could saved his sister.

He goes on to note that he had responsibilities here and he still stayed away from his family. Laura says she won’t argue with that, but she is so proud of him for changing many lives around the world by helping save doctors and clinics. Laura says Lulu would not blame him, and that she always knew one day he’d leave Port Charles. She says that Lucky is so much like his father, Luke. They were on the run together for years. She flashes back to the Triple L Diner, and the explosion, and how Luke and Laura were separated from him for weeks. However, she recalls that they knew that Lucky would be able to take care of himself, and though she knew he would eventually leave Port Charles to thrive, she also knew he’d come back when he was needed the most; just like Luke used to do.

The two speak of Nikolas (Adam Huss) and him being in prison and how crushed he was when he could not save Lulu either by being a donor match. Then, in the emotional high point of the reunion scenes, Laura tells Lucky that Lulu’s body is shutting down and time is not on her side and in tears cries, “If the worst should come to pass and we have to let our girl go, will you please stay with me and hold my hand when I say goodbye.” Lucky promises his mother he will, and she cries, “Thank you!” They share one last embrace, and we fade to black.

Does Lulu die on General Hospital

Spencer will magically reappear to save Lulu

Considering they just hired a recast who is fairly well known in the daytime world, it would seem likely that Lulu will make a full recovery from Veggieland, as soon as they finally get her a liver.

They’ve hired a former All My Children actress to take over the role, so Lulu will be waking up from her coma before year end.

No

These 2 create magic. It’s their non verbal communication as much as their words. Hard to find 2 better and at the top of their games in daytime right now.

Now this is the kind of stuff I’ve been waiting to see in the Lucky return storyline. Genie Francis and Jonathan Jackson sharing scenes for what I think may be the first time since Jackson left the show the first time in 1999. I don’t remember them crossing paths during either of their various returns over the years. All the history they share together, all the time that’s passed, when I see Lucky looking at Laura, I still see the same eyes of that 10 year old that we first met in 1993 looking at his mom.

What lovely, poignant scenes. Nobody brings it in emotional scenes like Genie Francis, and Jonathan was right there with her. You can’t manufacture that kind of history and connection. That’s why Jonathan Jackson is and will always be Lucky Spencer.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
