GENERAL HOSPITAL: Laura Wright and Maurice Benard Connect in Emotional Gem of a Scene Before Sonny Heads to Surgery
Sometimes on daytime soap operas the best moments are not the splashiest of scenes, or the big shocker or cliffhanger, but a small intimate conversation layered with history. On Thursday’s April 24th episode of General Hospital, as Sonny (Maurice Benard) is about to undergo heart surgery, his ex-wife Carly (Laura Wright) is by his side every step of the way.
During the scenes, Carly and Sonny discuss the surgery and with tears in her eyes, Carly tells him that to fight to make it through what’s to come as he undergoes the much needed procedure. Carly recalls how Sonny ended up here when he was shot 25 years ago, and how he flatlined on the table, and she wouldn’t let the doctors give up on him.
In the dialog it included: Sonny recalling being shot and almost losing his life, “Even if you want to forget it, things like that, get seared in your memory.” Carly responds, “You flatlined on the operating table. We lost you.” Sonny adds, “You wouldn’t let me go.” Carly says, “I wouldn’t let the doctors give up on you. I made them keep fighting because I knew you were fighting. I’m telling you right now, do not give up … not for anything. I don’t care if you see the pearly gates and St. Peter’s is standing there waving you in. You come back! Do you hear me? You make it through this.” An emotional Sonny responds, “I will. I promise.”

Brick (Stephen A. Smith) is also in LA with Sonny and Carly making sure the security team is on point, so no one comes after Sonny during his hospital stay and recovery. A nurse arrives to prep Sonny for the OR, and Carly steps out. Later, Carly returns to find Sonny’s bed empty, and she is very concerned about the potential of losing Sonny. Brick returns to the room to keep her company.
Once in the OR, the doctor tells Sonny to countdown from ten as he administers the drug to put him to sleep during his procedure. As he is counting backwards, Sonny recalls many emotional moments with all of his children.
But as we saw earlier in the week from the latest ABC promo for GH, a woman (who we believe is disguised as a nurse) will most likely show up on today’s Friday, April 25th episode and inject Sonny with something from her syringe as he is recovering from his life-saving heart procedure. Stay tuned.

So, what did you think of the scenes where Carly and Sonny discuss their worries about his procedure, and what happened 25 years ago? Do you think it’s time for CarSon to finally come back together? Sonny doesn’t have a bonafide love interest, and Carly, while involved with Brennan (Chris McKenna), won’t be too happy (initially) to learn that her daughter, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) killed Cyrus Renault, and in turn to keep it covered up had to agree to join the WSB. Would it be enough to tank their growing relationship with the WSB Port Charles Bureau Chief?
No matter what, the small intimate scenes between Laura Wright and Maurice Benard provided a glimpse into the deep history between Carly and Sonny, and it was effortlessly played by the actors in very touching scenes that for anyone who has faced surgery with a loved one by their side can relate to.
So, what did you think of the scenes between Carly and Sonny on yesterday’s GH? Do you think the writers should finally begin forging a path to getting them back together? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
Loved it!
Sonny and Carly are super together. I watch the show because of Sonny & Carly and Jason. Please don’t kill Sonny off. Get a recast.
Sonny’s not getting killed off. But there will never be a recast in either case. Just like you couldn’t recast Luke Spencer or Steve Hardy.
I agree. My bet is Maurice Benard is getting ready to retire as he seems bored again. He has said in previous interviews that he thought Sonny and Carly had been played out and that was when Mike from Nixon Falls happened. He hinted that he’d retire if they paired Sonny and Carly up for the 8th time or so and there doesn’t seem to be any available female romantic leads for Sonny so re- enter Carly. He seems to be back to phoning it in again so my guess is they will reunite Sonny and Carly and then they’ll either kill Sonny off or he will leave Port Charles. Carly will stay because I don’t see Laura Wright going anywhere.
I agree.
Sonny and Carly are much better when they are apart than when a couple. These scenes clearly illustrated that.
Also on Thursday’s episode, it’s becoming more obvious that it’s time for Brick to go. The novelty (and cross corporate synergy) has worn off. One of the rival families (or Sidwell) offing Brick could up the tension.
I also fast forward through Brick whose slogan should be,” Nobody asked for this.” I can accept stunt casting if the subject can act but the guy can’t act.”
Keep Sonny and Carly together. Don’t kill Sonny off.
He’s not a real actor, he’s a sportscaster
Derick, I know that which is why I said I’m tired of the stunt casting. Stephen A Smith is a sportscaster who ought to stay in his lane.
He can act just as much as Sonny.
Agreed. Maurice seems “lost”, at times. Just sayin’.
For the first time, I like Carly—she seems to have stepped up in the honesty department. If Sonny does leave, I’d like Carly to stay.
I want them back together
Agree
I agree. They belong together
I love sonny and Carly together.. It’s interesting to see them act scenes.. people will stay tuned to see them and what unfolds?? make a love story between them two!!
I agree. They’re tolerable as friends but rather lackluster as a couple devoid of any sexual or romantic chemistry. I don’t get the unbridled enthusiasm some here are exhibiting for this couple.
I totally disagree, Carly & Sonny are true loves and soulmates FOREVER!
You hear that, Steve? FOREVER! The all caps declare it so it must be.
Thanks Harry. I appreciate seeing passionate comments. Carly will readily call Jason her soulmate (platonic on his end).
Leave the Brick alone. He’s a great addition we all miss.!!!!?
The question mark means you’re being sarcastic, right? If so, I agree. Brick is about as necessary as a brick in a life vest.
Thank you Brick bring that part that needed when thing going bad and Sonny need that added information and Brick that and no one knows who he is,maybe few and that what makes it interesting.and right now GH need that because CBS new soap is kicking GH ass
I’m not sure if I understand your point but it seems that you’re suggesting that with the addition of Beyond the Gates, GH needs the character Brick to boost sagging ratings. I assure you no one is tune to GH to watch Stephen A Smith play at acting.
Not certain what anyone means by the end of the chat feeds.. other than don’t type in CAPITALS unless you really mean something LOL
Not sure if this is the beginning of Carly & Sonny’s reunion, but we all know it’s as inevitable as a firestorm in Hell.
Had to laugh at Carly’s comments about St. Peter waving Sonny in the Pearly Gates though. I think we all know better. Sure, when Sonny eventually shows up here, he will have an air conditioned penthouse waiting for him in Beelzebub Towers, but I doubt anybody really thinks he’s going the other direction.
In any case, we aren’t expecting Sonny’s arrival anytime soon. Because nobody wants to see GH canceled yet.
Hi, I will like SONNY to recover from his surgery, and I will like if Carly and Sonny can get back together.❤️ ❤️
They belong together. Their history says it all. They will always put each other first no matter who they are with so why not let them be together.
I believe that Sonny and Carly should get back together. They make a great team and are always there for each other and their family. They also make a great couple. I’m hoping to see Carly and Sonny get back together soon.
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but these two bore the heck out of me. I fast forwarded through their scenes.
I love them and am totally hoping for a reunion again! They are the only one for each other. Stop screwing with their relationship! Putting them with others just does NOT work! Their love is too strong.
I’ll try.
I have been watching for years. Yes Carly an Sonny should be back together. But I also liked Carly an jaxs.
Then d’ont watch. Put Carly and Sonny back together.
Well that’s original and constructive.
Yes! Please put Carky & Sonny back together again ❤️
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men…
People you are out of your mind if you think for a second that Carly and Sonny are not meant to be!! Sunny and Carly and Jason and Sam are what made General Hospital without them it would be one big boring soap opera!!
Curtis and that bimbo wife he has right now are so boring Curtis has to get back together with Jordan and the hell with this all worth this big happy family now, Ugh
I want sonny and Carly together
It will happen and the nurse will be found out by Carly
It was so good! I have always loved them as a couple and that was a great scene for their history. I wouldn’t mind them getting back together
I would love for them to be back together. They never stopped loving each other their whole married life and unmarried as well. Carly runs to Sonny’s side at the hint of him needing someone’s help.
I agree to Disagree this text, Carly always runs to Jason , even when Married to Sonny!!
Loved those scenes. Please catch that fake nurse and let Sonny be ok.
I started watching General Hospital off and on for two months after being disappointed with the storylines on Y&R for years now. I recognized some of my favorite actors from As the World Turns and I fell in love with the characters. It’s amazing how great writers can bring out the best in great actors. Now I hate to miss a day.I haven’t been on the edge of my seat since Dallas went off the air. One of my favorite actors played Alan Michael the son of Allan Spaulding from another soap. I love the chemistry, plot and intrigue.
I thought it was a beautiful scene. Very heartfelt. I like Carly and Sonny together. I always hoped they’d be a power couple. And I enjoy Brick. He had class and elegance. I liked him with Jordan too.
Yes get them back together again. They make the best married couple
No, they really don’t. They make a GREAT friends couple, like Carly and Jason. They’ll always have each other’s back. They love each other dearly, but they’re not “in love” with each other. I love the spark and chemistry Carly has with Brennan, and it’s time someone was brought in for Sonny. Otherwise, it’s gonna be like Ridge and Brooke on B & B…wash, rinse, repeat. Carly and Sonny deserve better than that.
Time for Sonny and Carly to get back together. Much better together. If she can’t get with Jason, then get back with Sonny. Get away from Jack.
Sonny & Carly are good together, I’d love to see them back together. The Show with Sidwell is strange though! A fan from the beginning.
Yes❤️
I would love it if Carson get back together
Leave Sonny alone. No Sonny, no GH!
Yes put carly& Sonny back together
Love them whether their together or not and love how they co-parenting. They best couple ever since Monica & Allen
Start getting them back together love to see that happen
I would like to see Carly and Sonny back together again.
I Love that scene, please let their Love be renewed in a powerful scene. They are the world’s Go to couple! Of soap operas. If they can just stay together- there’s hope for us in the real world.
Bring sonny and carly back
Bring them BACK!!!
PLEASE GET RID OF AVA OR WAIT IF CARLY AND SONNY GET BACK TOGETHER.THEN AVA,NINA AND DREW CAN GO TO THE TOWN AND LIVE WHERE NINA KEPT SONNY HELD AS A SECERT FOR MONTHS THEY ALL CAN LIVE THEIR HAPPILY EVER AFTER THAT WAY SONNY NOR CARLY WON’T BE ACCUSED OF ANY CRIME..
AND PORT CHARLES CAN REPLACE THE CITY WITH A CONGRESSMEN…
FOR SURE…
Sounds like a brilliant plan! The all caps are quite helpful too.
Haven’t watched in yrs. So, where is Jas?
GH needs Ava. Granted she doesn’t have a lot of redeeming qualities, but she does inject a much needed “bad” girl quality. And sometimes she’s just downright funny. I like her scenes with Trina. But I’m really waiting for someone to get Drew.
Rita, you are so right! hats off to you that would be Awesome. Get rid of these hasbeens and bring on some new rotten people because without the bad we couldn’t have the good, loving, and honest people that live in Port Charles.
Please God bring Sunny and Carly back together. You have to do that before Sunny retires. Due to all the years. He’s been on the soap and now dealing with his podcast!!
Suggestion – if you want people to read a comment – take the CAPS LOCK button off.
To me those two really belong together. I do not want them with nobody else. That scene was amazing as usual. I not stop crying.
Yes get them back together
Yes , I think they are meant to be together.
I love me some Sonny and Carly
Sonny and Carly are awesome together love them.
I would like that Carly and Sonny back together.
Sick to death if Carly and Sonny…they have hammered it and hammered it till the whole relationship is pulp. They stink together. Keep em apart and bring back Brenda..even if another actress has to come in.
Daniele if you are soooo sick of Sonny and Carly then please STOP watching GH because you’re such a downer! They have been through thick and thin so YESSSSS please bring them together, Simply love them with Jason as the peacemaker!
Dear Geri, you ought not to tell viewers to stop watching GH if they don’t care for Sonny and Carly. We need to sustain or increase the ratings to keep GH on the air. Maybe just advise them to do what I do when they’re on screen- use the handy fast forward button.
I’m with you Daniele!!!! They hammered those 2 for years and it gets old. No question, both are incredible actors but I felt that since Brenda was on and off the show, they had nobody else to pair the Mob boss with. In comes Carly. Brenda will always have Sonnys heart. ALWAYS
no Brenda please!
I like Carly and Sonny as friendly exes. Their toxic when together romantically but dynomite as they are now.
Rodd, I agree. When they were together, they both acted like they didn’t like each other much.
Thank you for the writers
I loved it, it’s a shame they couldn’t do flashbacks of that due to change of actress playing Carly but it makes you want them back together.
Been waiting for the writers to figure that out!!! What was the hold up????
They should get back together,Absolutely!
I would like to see them back together, they’re good partners, love each other and always have the others back.
I always say old is gold
But sometimes old gold rusts.
I hope Carly and sonny get back together .
Don’t kill sonny off, love sonny and carly together
They need to put Sonny and Carly back together.
Please put them back together! They are better together than apart!
Sonny and carly need to get back together and you can leave brick along I love him he is sonny right hand man if anyone needs to go its Rick Drew and Ava because I’m sick of all three of them
They should never have split Sonny and Carley up in the first place. The show has gone down hill ever since.
They should never have split Sonny and Carley up in the first place. The show has gone down hill since then. I don’t enjoy watching it anymore.
Yes!!!
Just want to say yes absolutely they should get back together hope this happens and sonny returns safely from his next journey
Have always loved the relationship between Carly and Sonny. If Maurice is going to retire, at least recast him. He will be hard to replace, but can’t kill him off cuz I think he and Carly WILL get back together… once again.
I would like Carly to be with Jason…How could they get over each other so quickly ⁉️
Carly and Jason should be together.. When they got married, they were so in love..
Carly is the only one for Sonny and Sonny is the only one for Carly. Their chemistry is off the charts. It’s time for CarSon to find their way back together. I expect lots of sweet romantic scenes. OK?
Please keep sonny.it is not a show without him. He is the show.
Definitely do not want them back together. I like them apart . I don’t like that GH made it a Sonny, Carly, Jason show. Although I love all characters, I love seeing Dante, Chase, Brooklyn, TRACY and honestly, Nina and her comical ways with Ava. Bring back love in the afternoon and bring back BRENDA! The chemistry between Sonny and Brenda is undeniable and even Carly, deep down knows it. Carly deserves ONE man that will only compete for HER heart and her heart only.

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

Photo: ABC
DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

Photo: ABC
FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

Photo: JPI
PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons
IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Photo: ABC
WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC
Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

Courtesy/ABC
MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.
Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera?
