GENERAL HOSPITAL: Maxie Wakes Up Says, ‘James Malcolm West, You Are Not Going Skating Without a Helmet’
The February 12 episode of General Hospital marked the highly-anticipated on-screen return of Kirsten Storms in her signature role of Maxie Jones. So, how did the GH writers wake her up out of her coma? Find out below! In addition, Curtis (Donnell Turner) was revealed to be the bio-dad of Portia’s (Brook Kerr) baby, much to the disappointment of Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson), and apparently Portia too, and Nathan (Ryan Paevey) and Lulu’s (Alexa Havins Bruening) vow to not allow themselves to get close again went out the window.
First, in the coma clinic in Boston, Felicia (Kristina Wagner), James (Gary James Fuller) and Georgie (Lily Fisher) had their weekly visit with Maxie, only this time, Kirsten Storms is seen lying comatose in the bed. As is their ritual, each of Maxie’s loved ones gets to sit and talk alone with her by her bedside for a few moments, so James went in first.
In a very touching moment played to perfection by Gary James Fuller, James tells his mom that when a classmate of his asked him to be her Valentine, he told Maxie he told her ‘no,’ because his mom is his valentine. He also adds, he wants her to wake up so she could watch him play hockey. When it was Georgie’s turn, she was so emotional and overcome that she begged her mother to wake up.

BACK TO LIFE
Later, outside in the clinic hallway adjacent to Maxie’s room, Felicia, James and Georgie are getting ready to head back to Port Charles when James and Georgie have a disagreement on whether to stop at the bookstore or an ice rink on the way to the airport. Suddenly, James jaw drops as he’s hears Maxie’s voice as she appears standing at her clinic room door saying, “James Malcolm West, you are not going skating without a helmet.”

PATERNITY PICKLE
Back at General Hospital, Portia reveals that Curtis is the father of her unborn child, as an upset Isaiah leaves the two to discuss what to do now. Trina (Tabyana Ali) leaves as well. Portia asks Curtis where do they go from here. Curtis strongly suggests a 50/50 custody split and to be good parents for their child and not fight with each other. Portia agrees.
Next, Portia runs into Isaiah in the men’s locker room at the hospital (as one does). She admits she was hoping that the baby she is carrying was his. He says he feels the same but promises to love her baby no matter what.
Portia and Isaiah recommit to each other, sharing that she and Curtis will raise their baby together but have separate lives, and she is certain, that Curtis’ relationship with Jordan will fall apart, just like it did previously. At the same time, Curtis went to see Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and told her the baby news update, and after his divorce from Portia, they will have joint custody of their child, but that he and Jordan can be together.

CAN’T KEEP MY EYES OFF OF YOU
Meanwhile, as Maxie wakes up, Nathan shows up at Lulu’s. He says he needs help for James, in that, his son, needs to bring something to class for Valentine’s Day. Lulu whips something up. The two discuss how Laura and Nina told them to follow their hearts as the two cannot deny their attraction for each other.
So, what did you think of how Maxie woke up? Did you enjoy the performance of Gary James Fuller? Were you rooting for Curtis or Isaiah to be the father of Portia’s baby? And, are you annoyed with Lulu and Nathan, or on board for their romance? Share your thoughts via the comment section.
OK we all know that Maxie’s trip to veggieland was a relatively short one, by GH standards. But she immediately wakes up, jumps out of bed and yells at her kid to wear a helmet?
That’s one HELL of a recovery. Not even the momentary “rubber legs” we saw when Lulu woke up.
My thoughts exactly Satan. I’m surprised Felicia didn’t faint. I would have.
Satan, I wake up everyday with “rubbery legs,” and I’m not even in a coma!
Or so I’ve been told…
Ha ha ha! Jane’s, I know what you mean all too well.
Sorry for the muddling of your name,James. Apparently my fingers are rubbery too.
Could Maxie’s awakening been staged better, certainly, but at least we didn’t have to see Kirsten lying unconscious for weeks while those around her prayed for Maxie’s recovery. Look out “Nathan” – Maxie is going to want answers about where you’ve been.
Maxie should have just opened her. Eyes not jumped out of bed and ran to the door
I’m thinking it’s Maxie dreaming, but she will wake up in today’s episode
Nevermind 🙂
I am so happy Maxie woke up! Also wish Isaiah was the baby’s father
I am too. I was hoping Isaiah was the Dad. Portia is being blamed for breaking up the marriage but in reality Curtis couldn’t stay away from his ex. I’m glad Portia has Isaiah.
Oh me too. I never lied Portia until she became romantically involved with Isaiah. They’re kind of sweet together. Conversely, I always liked Jordan until she got back together with Curtis. So I see it as a Curtis problem. Don’t like the guy(the character, not the actor). And now he will continue to be enmeshed in both aforementioned women’s lives.
Maxie’s waking up was perfect!!
I hope Maxie stays with my guy Spinelli.
I do, too!
How many people are in a coma for that long and can get up out the bed and walk across the floor? So glad Curtis is the father.
Me too!
Maxi walking out the door after comma was the most stupid thing I’ve ever seen. Soo many reasons why that can’t happen, come on!!!! Do you want us to watch????
Lulu and Nathan a no no
Don’t belong together at all! I don’t care how Maxie woke up as long as she did! Fabulous Maxie, we love you
Maxie and Nathan cannot hook up!! that would be sooo disrespectful to Dante and Maxie!!. DO NOT DO THAT!!. Let Lulu have a moment of consciousness, where she realizes she needs to be loyal to her best friend and not follow some whim feelings for Nathan.. NOT COOL!! Let Dante & Lulu hookup before you connect Nathan & Lulu
So wrong Nathan and lulu I’m glad the baby is Curtis’s can’t stand Portia
I definitely was hoping Isaiah was the father of Portia’s baby…I’ve lost respect for Curtis getting involved with Jordan again…Portia deserves a one woman man n she n Isaiah really look well together…I agree with Portia Jordan n Curtis’ relationship will eventually implode….
I’m very anoyed with the lulu and Nathan getting together.
Sick of Portia and Isaiah. Glad maxi is back yay
Yes bring back Spencer

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ava Spikes Brennan’s Drink as Drew’s Masterplan Begins to Unfolds

The Friday, August 28 episode of General Hospital confirmed viewers suspicious from the ABC weekly promo that dropped earlier in the week. Ava Jerome (Maura West) is definitely the woman who is spiking the drink of Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna).
How did it all go down? Let’s recap. Ava met up with Drew (Cameron Mathison) at the Metro Court poolside, and he filled her in on his plan to use the thumb drive given to him by Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) to interfere with the Metro Court Hotel’s security system by way of Carly’s (Laura Wright) office computer.
Next, Drew hands over an envelope with a sleeping pill in it with the demand the Ava somehow slyly slip into Brennan’s drink. Ava is not liking the idea of drugging the WSB Port Charles Bureau Chief.

KEEPING BRENNAN OCCUPIED
Drew wants insurance that he has enough time to get into Brennan’s room unnoticed, and get the evidence that proved he embezzled money from the McConkey Esplanade project to fund his Congressional campaign away from Jack. He feels the sleeping pill will buy him the time he needs.
Ava accuses Drew of setting her up to take the fall, and she is now having second thoughts about them working together especially after her friend, Nina (Cynthia Watros) warned her about Drew, yet again.
Drew has a comeback for Ava. That is that Sonny (Maurice Benard) has a powerful ally in Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis), and he thought that he and Ava were each other’s best shot to team-up and take Sonny down for both their mutual gains. After all, Drew is targeting Sonny as the lynchpin for all his revenge, and Ava is sick of how Sonny dictates when she will see and raise their daughter, Avery.
DRINK UP!
Reluctantly, Ava took the pill from Drew to use on Brennan, only if she absolutely finds it a necessity to do so. As she is on her way to meet Brennan, she flashes back to Sonny calling her a “cancer who should be cut out of Avery’s life.” So, what does Ava do? For insurance, she crushes up the sleeping pill!
Next, Ava sits at a table at the Metro Court poolside with Brennan, and he seems to be knocking back a few drinks upset over his run-in earlier with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Carly. He suddenly gets a phone call that has to take in private and gets up from the table. That moments enables Ava to slip the crushed up sleeping pill into Brennan’s drink and stir it around. We fade to black.
Take a look at the scene where Drew slips Ava a drug to help tide over Brennan while he tries to retrieve the evidence Brennan is using to blackmail him below.
Now weigh-in: were you disappointed to see Ava back to her old devious ways? Do you think Drew will be successful getting back the evidence? Is this the beginning of the end of Jack Brennan since it as has been reported Chris McKenna is exiting the soap? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section.

Double Emmy Nominee Jeff Kober Reveals He Would Be Open to Return to ‘General Hospital’ If He Could Work Again with Genie Francis

Jeff Kober (ex-Cyrus Renault, General Hospital) has been in celebration mode since July after receiving not only a Daytime Emmy nomination for his role on the ABC daytime drama series, but a Primetime Emmy nomination for his dramatic turn on the HBO Max series The Pitt where he played patient Duke Elkins. The dual nominations mark the first-time in Emmy history that a performer has been nominated for both Emmy awards at the same time.
As GH viewers know, Kober made his debut in General Hospital as Cyrus Renault in 2020. He appeared in the show on-and-off for five years until his character was killed off in an episode that aired on February 20, 2025 ending Renault’s reign of terror.
In fact, it was Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) who shot and killed him, and along with Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), covered it up. It was that moment that eventually turned Josslyn into an avenge-seeking WSB agent. Kober came back one last time to GH back in December of 2025, when he reprised the role in a dream sequence with Cyrus’ on-screen sister, Laura Collins (Genie Francis).

JEFF KOBER AND GENIE FRANCIS PLAYED TV BROTHER AND SISTER
Speaking with PEOPLE, Kober talked about his time on General Hospital and if he would ever consider returning to the soap opera if they were to resurrect the now deceased troublemaker Cyrus Renault, or if he even where to play someone else in Port Charles?
“I love to work and I would do anything with Genie (Francis),” expressed Kober. “She’s a great actress and a great scene partner. She’s someone who’ll go anywhere you want to go with them So, if they bring me back and let me work with her, I wouldn’t mind making the drive over to Prospect Studios.”
Kober added, “I would say I’m closest to her in that we both get excited when we can work together because both of us want to make it as rich as possible and find the dangerous areas of it, and see what happens there.”
WILL JEFF KOBER FIND HIMSELF WITH EMMY GOLD TWICE OVER COME THIS FALL?
Previously, Kober won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in Daytime Drama Series for his performances as Cyrus Renault back in 2022. He was also nominated in 2021. Now in 2026, Jeff finds himself among the nominees in the Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series category.
For the Primetime Emmy Awards, and also as had been previously reported, Kober submitted himself in the Guest category when the studio/network did not. Speaking to his decision to self submit, Jeff shared, “There are so many great performances on this show (The Pitt), and they have a limited number of people that they can submit. But I knew it was a job that I wanted to have seen. I knew the material and my particular wheelhouse were perfectly aligned, so I really wanted to at least have it be seen.”
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are set to air live on Monday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, while the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be streamed live on watch.theemmys.tv and associated apps on on Friday night, October 30 from Hollywood.
So, would you like to either see Cyrus Renault turn out to be alive … or Jeff Kober return to GH in another role and share scenes and a story with General Hospital icon, Genie Francis? Let us know via the comment section.
