GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nathan Tells Lulu He Would Chose Her; But is This For Certain The Real Nathan?
On General Hospital, when Maxie (Kirsten Storms) made a very fast decision and told Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), at his gravesite, no less, that even though he has been gone 7 years and she believed like everyone in Port Charles did that he passed away, she will always love him, but she is choosing to be with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). In addition to that, Nathan just accepted her decision and no scene was shown of him fighting to change her mind.
Fans reactions were swift on social media with many overjoyed Maxie chose Spinelli, which shows her sign of maturity and recognizing that Spinelli has always been there for her throughout most of her entire adult life. Others were dismayed, that if Nathan was the love of her life, who was taken from her by a bullet, wouldn’t they both want to see if they could rekindle their relationship that got aborted by his “death?”
Then, on the Tuesday, February 24 episode of the ABC soap opera, Nathan sees Lulu (Alexa Havins) by herself at the Brown Dog Bar and joins her at the table. Lulu jumps to assumptions that Nathan is back with Maxie. However, Nathan surprises her with that is not what happened. He begins to explain that Maxie chose to be with Spinelli. Lulu, while knowing Spinelli is also wonderful for her best friend, is just taken off-guard and surprised.

Courtesy/ABC
Lulu tells Nathan, she’s sorry, because for Nathan it’s like no time has passed, especially since he can’t account for the missing 7 years of his life! (WHY are people not questioning this further!?) A very calm Nathan says Maxie’s decision makes sense to him, given all that has happened to her.
Next, Lulu asks the big question, “What if Maxie had chosen you?” Nathan responded: “If Maxie, would have chosen me, then I would’ve honored that. I have loyalty, I have respect for our marriage and everything that’s happened and for James. But Lulu, before Maxie woke up, something was happening between us. Something that means a lot to me. And if the the decision was mine to make, then I would choose to pursue that. I would choose you.”
However, Lulu responds that what happened between them, occurred because they believed Maxie was still in a coma, and not present in their lives. As Lulu goes to hold Nathan’s hands, she pulls back. Lulu says while she also sees him now in a whole new light and more than just a friend, Maxie is still her bff, and she doesn’t want to hurt her.
So, GH fans, what do you think is the long-game of the story? Is the reason, Nathan is missing 7 years, because perhaps this is Nathan’s twin or doppelganger that was someone planted in Port Charles as part of the whole resurrection of Faison’s children? Or is this Nathan, who was deeply in love with Maxie (even in the flashbacks when he died professing his love for her) who just gave up on Maxie, because he is suddenly enamored with Lulu?
Some viewers speculate that the story changed based on Kirsten Storms revised schedule where she currently splits her time between living in Tennessee and taping GH in Los Angeles, or do you think this was the plan all along to find a new leading man for Lulu? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
This is definitely not the old Nathan. Storms schedule could’ve definitely changed direction. I suspect she will go recurring. Will remain to be seen if this is really Nathan.
Similar to before she left, she might have a small episode guarantee, but she is back on a new contract.
The things he said yesterday have convinced me it isn’t him.. He was so cavalier about Maxie. It felt cold. I just hope the real Nathan is actually alive, because if not they have wasted Ryan Paevey’s return. Nathan and Lulu have zero romantic chemistry. Friendship, yes, romance no, IMO
I couldn’t agree more.
This is Nathan. He has the DNA. He has the fingerprints. He has the scars from where dear old dad shot him in the chest.
Obviously there’s a question of where he was for the missing 7 years. And what exactly he was doing when he wrecked his pickup truck, just before waking up in the hospital as his old self.
By Port Charles “logic”, the probable answer is that he has some sort of chip in his head which controlled his mind for those 7 years, which got knocked out of commission during the accident, allowing his original self to come back in to his head.
There’s nothing really “out of character” about the way Nathan is acting at the moment. It’s not at all surprising that he would accept Maxie’s decision to stay with Spinelli. Fits in with his “noble good guy” persona. That’s not to say that those “feelings” couldn’t be in conflict later. But if there’s one thing we know about the Valentini regime, just because they bring characters back, doesn’t guarantee they’re getting back together with the “love of their life”.
Just ask Jason & Sam. Or Lulu and Dante. Or Sonny & Carly, for that matter.
I’m sure the explanation of Nathan’s missing years will be addressed at some point. Maybe the chip will be reactivated somehow? There’s always the “hypnosis” trick to bring back repressed memories, though that would be difficult with Port Charles’ only shrink now living in Maryland Ireland.
100% agree. This is Nathan. Perhaps a changed Nathan, but Nathan nonetheless.
it seems like every storyline on GH right now is in the long game mode. So now we have the show trying to set up Lulu and Nathan to have this “love”? lust for each other, Maxie wakes up and is barely shock over the love of her life being alive, and he prefers to put in extra hours at work then to go see her, Lulu seems desperate just to hook up with Nathan and weirdly enough he seems more interested in solving any crime other than his disappearance for 7 years. I thought w/ Sidwell setting up Laura she would be on more, she’s back to being a supporting character, Anna is in limbo in a mental facility in Paris, Jason is planning a vacation, prolonging all these storyline that are all linked together. Its never ending and to many breaks in between them, its like one heavy week of Anna drama then months of nothing, Valentine is stuck in Carly attic, and barely anything happed there. every storyline takes two steps forward then 10 steps back. Everything from last year is playing out slow pace this year.
Lulu and Nathan don’t seem to have any chemistry. This romantic conflict feels forced and plot driven. The couples I am rooting for right now are Molly and Cody and Gio and Emma. Also, I love the spark between Dante and Lizzy. I hope that’s explored as they could be magical together. I don’t really care about Jason and Britt, ( find them to be dull)and I also don’t care for a possible romance transpiring between Carly and Valentin either.
I agree with u on everything, I was surprised that I like the spark between Liz and Dante, it felt pure innocent and interesting. They both deserve a break. Lulu and Nathan seem forced, love Molly and Cody, and Emma and Gio.
Right? Wasn’t that a delightful surprise? And when I watched them subtly flirting with each other, all I could think is why they haven’t thought of this before? They match, they work, they fit-Dante and Lizzy. I say yes.
This is absolutely not the old Nathan. Whether its brainwashed programmed Nathan, a twin, a clone, or someone who had plastic surgery to look like Nathan remains to be seen. I think hes bad and has something to do with Sidwell and Cullum.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
