General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Robert Leaves Port Charles with Holly
In a very emotional and well-written episode of General Hospital, viewers of the ABC daytime drama series were in for several touching and hankie-inducing scenes, and some that were unexpected.
The main thrust of the November 12th episode centered around Holly Sutton, in what would mark the end of Emma Samms latest run. Holly has shown up at Anna’s (Finola Hughes) office saying she needs help disappearing. She admits that she still has one of Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) diamonds that she must cash in to get into a high-stakes poker game, because she owes a huge debt to a crime syndicate. If she doesn’t pay up, the said “syndicate” will kill Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) and Robert (Tristan Rogers).
Holly says she only got into this trouble by freelancing for the WSB. Anna believes they should get Brennan (Charles Mesure) involved. It is then that Holly informs Anna she just came from seeing him and the only thing he could offer was an assist out of town. Holly tells Anna that with the money she got from the diamonds, she was going to take care of her children, Ethan and Sasha, and so she could retire in Italy. Anna has serious doubts she’ll ever retire. Next, Holly tells Anna to look after Robert for her.

Meanwhile, Robert has come to see Diane in her office. Diane tells him she is surprised to see him and how he has been MIA since Holly came back to town. Then, in a heartbreaking performance by Carolyn Hennesy, she tells the man she loves that she is going to make life easier for him. With tears in her eyes, the often stoic legal eagle te Robert that she likes him, but reminds him when she agreed to give this relationship a try, she demanded she come first. She has treated this like a contract. However, she realized, that love isn’t a contract, and that he’s still in love with Holly, not her.
Robert tells Diane he loves her, and Diane responds that she knows she loves him. However, Sam’s death has opened her eyes. Life is short and she doesn’t want to be someone’s consolation prize. Diane says she deserves someone who looks at her the way he looks at Holly. Next, she gives Robert a big piece of advice and that is – to find Holly and make it work between them because he deserves happiness too. Robert knows she’s right and heads out, leaving Diane to break down.

Later, Diane has called Anna to meet her, where she is drowning her sorrows in some drinks. Diane wants to know if she ever got over Robert. Anna says she has learned to have a life without him, but she will always love him. Diane fills Anna in about her break-up with Robert, while Anna suggests she quickly rethink that as Holly is leaving Port Charles tonight.

Holly is now at Robert’s office writing him a long goodbye letter. She eventually heads to the private airport to wait for her plane. The mood becomes very “Casablanca’-esque. While waiting for her plane, Holly leaves Sasha a goodbye message. Then, the pilot comes to tell Holly she needs to board the plane. Holly tells him she needs to make one last call and she dials Robert, and the two start talking over the phone, until Robert tells her to “turn around.” Robert is there. He tells Holly he is going with her and that he refuses to miss any more time with her. They share a kiss and on his exit, Robert tells Holly, that this will be roundtrip ticket as they will need to come back to Port Charles, especially because their daughter, Sasha, is here.

In other notable scenes: Jason talks with his son Danny, and the two discuss where Danny is going to live now that Sam has passed. Danny wants to be a unit with Scout and Rocco, if possible, but tells his dad, if they have to be broken up, he wanted to ask him if it would be OK to live with him. These scenes were played with tender simplicity by both Steve Burton (Jason) and Asher Antonyzyn (Danny), with the upshot that father and son will keep the discussion open and figure things out.
Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) also delivered in scenes opposite Jonathan Jackson (Lucky), where Lucky, yet again, says he is going to leave Port Charles now that Lulu is recovering well from her surgery. Liz lays into Lucky after Sam’s death. Does he have any idea what it would be like for Sam’s children to have one more day with their mother? Meanwhile, she tells Lucky, he has a son Aiden (Colin Cassidy), who needs his father, and eventually she storms out on the deadbeat dad.

Then, we have Laura at Lulu’s bedside demanding that it’s time for her daughter to wake up! Sam died after saving Lulu’s life, and she has her liver inside of her, and it can’t go to waste! Another touching moment well-played by the iconic Genie Francis.
The episode also included the debut of Jens Austin Astrup as Kai, Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) new love interest. Check back for a separate post on his arrival soon.
So, what did you think about Tristan Rogers exiting GH alongside Emma Samms as Robert and Holly ride off into the fog (err sunset)? According to Soap Opera Digest, there are plans for the characters to return to the canvas sometime in 2025. What moments from the episode tugged on your heartstrings the most? Comment below.
I’m still feeling a certain kind of way about G:H especially this year with everyone that’s been written out of the show, its sad disappointing and unwatchable but I still do, so its become obvious that as soon as GH starts paying attention to a character like Robert who for the most part is ignore then you know they are on their way out, I don’t mind open ended goodbye still this year its been way to much with all the exits, who needs to go next is the writers that’s for sure. And to comment on the other stories that played out today, again Lucky is a total bust, I mean he’s like a total boy men whose stuck in his teens, doesn’t want any responsibility a man child and its irritating to watch. and what’s up with both Lucky and Jason who always have watery eyes? they always look like they are on the bring of crying about anything.
Jason has a good reason for watery eyes – he just lost Sam. His son lost his Mom.
Lucky – not so much. He is even more selfish than Luke if that is possible. Anna and Jason fly to Africa and the WSB pulls out all the stops to save them to bring Lucky home. Now Lucky wants to go back to the same dangerous area of the World? Lucky go look for a job if you are that bored. I’m sure Brennan will be happy to hook you up.
I’ve said all along, my belief is the writers are sabotaging General Hospital.
The writing is abysmal.. I started GH in 1978 and officially quit the day Sam died. It was not just the loss of Kelly that caused me to stop watching but the worst soap parentage retcon in history with the Sasha /Holly/Robert reveal!! We, the savvy ex- viewers have not forgot the Sasha hair on brush not revealing she was biologically a Scorpio blunder. So insulting to us long time, I mean decades and decades long viewers.
I am so over done with GH after the last month or so. Killing off Sam and all the cheating between characters plus the whole Drew saga is on over kill they should write him out. Holly is totally obnoxious, Sasha is whinny and a terrible actress. It’s just garbage now, at least before it was inane but some of the characters were good and endearing. Now they are all annoying and the story lines are horrid. Bringing back Brad was ridiculous and I really despise Nina and Jordan. It used to be a silly diversion for me but I’m done wasting an hour of my life on this crap.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE – Holly don’t come back! EVER!
You left Port Charles in shambles and a trail of destruction that won’t be cleaned up for years. 2 happy couples we loved – gone. Another collateral damage. One unwanted and inconvenient baby on the way who will surely be involved in a “switched at birth” storyline with another baby.
Some fans will never trust that GH writers will allow any romance on the show to work going forward.
You are right all baby’s on the the soaps get switched
When there are two or more people having babies at the same time – it’s GH’s MO.
I agree about Holly not to return to GH. They fire Sam after 20+ years who was so good on the show, until her role became less & less. They bring back Holly who is nowhere as good as Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco)!!
The writers should go. The stories are becoming boring. Sasha & Cody being first cousins! Really!! I’ve been a loyal fan of GH since 1967.
As a stand alone scene, I liked the “Casablanca” like send off for Robert and Holly. It was certainly a throwback and I appreciate what they were going for. I figured something like this was coming. Tristan Rogers has not seemed well lately, and you always know Emma Samms is in for a short visit.
This does make Robert and Holly look like awful parents. Robert just finds out that he has a daughter, and instead of trying to build a relationship with her, he says peace out, and high tails it out the door without so much as a goodbye, phone call, text, nothing. He was absent for a large part of Robin’s life, so I guess it’s fitting. Holly threw a grenade into Sasha’s life and then she leaves.
And then you have deadbeat dad Lucky, the show is really specializing in writing terrible parents these days. I’m also sorry to say that Jonathan Jackson’s return has been a total bust so far.
You are right on all counts! Also, I think Rick Lansing is a lousy parent, helping Molly ,only when it’s to his own advantage.
I watch everyday. I had a few appts and missed one or two shows. I have two questions. 1) What happened to Scott Baldwin? 2) What happened to the kid who played the violin?
I love the drama between Drew, Michael, Willow, Sasha and coming up Nina.
I still expect Scotty to pop in.
Scotty abruptly disappeared. The last time they showed him he was supposed to be hiding the doctor who tampered with Sonny’s meds on spoon island. He had also been handling Heather’s case but Ric swooped in and took over the case.
As for Gio he is still popping up from time to time. They really haven’t given him a story. Last time I saw him he was at the going away party for Trina’s grandfather– it was at this party that Ric revealed he got Heather free and she was to be released the next day. Gio later stopped by Trina’s place to see how she was taking the news.
Guessing he was supposed to be a Trina catch – he sure did look like Spencer coming out of that pool. At first he was in every scene and meeting more people than Cody has in 3 years on the show, He was certainly eye candy for the teen set. I don’t think they know what to do with him and since DNA story arcs seem required to take at least 2 years on GH he’s got time to praddle.
I love my show, been watching my friends for 55 years. Sad to see Sam go. It’s been a tough year with real leavings and fictional departures.
I still don’t like that GH re wrote Holly and Robert’s history to have a child together. The storyline would have worked without it and I liked Sasha and Robert would have never cheated on Anna. I’m glad they were able to leave together though.
Wow, Holly and Robert both get to abandon Sasha. Lucky wants to go back to Africa and Sasha is headed for another heartbreak as she will probably be pregnant which won’t go well. This is why I stopped watchiny every day. Mostly read recaps.
Maybe the cast knows something we don’t and perhaps some want graceful “bow out now” storylines???
As much as I would miss GH, it does need some solid long arc stories ASAP
Both Emma and Tristan are struggling with health issues so yes, bowing out gracefully was the right thing to do. But I don’t understand why they had to make Sasha their daughter.
I totally agree. The writers have disrespected fans with the ridiculous writing. Casting and recasts, couple pairings. The writers knew ahead of time that the characters of Robert and Holly were l leaving. They should have kept the character of Sam.
I think the scene with Robert & Holly was so touching. GH did a good job. Something may be going on behind the scenes here. We may have seen the last of Robert Scorpio !!
Praying Tristan is ok.
Same here. He hasn’t looked well lately and has been seated in most scenes. I pray that some time off does wonders for his health and if this is the final goodbye for Robert Scorpio, it’s a fitting one to have him fly off to parts unknown with his lady love.
Yes, and Holly will probably come back alone to cause more trouble for Sasha.
Yeah, me too
Carolyn Hennessy is such a gem. She moved me the most. I suspect we saw Carolyn’s tears rather than Diane’s.
This is GH swan song I I think that is why you are seeing all these old characters coming back etc
I’m beginning to think this as well. CBS is creating the new soap (Behind the Gates) which will be airing at the same time as ABC’s GH. Seems like ABC is done with the soap world and CBS will continue it moving forward while in this new era of streaming. I just wish we could have Guiding Light and As The World Turns still around – those were my favorites!
And no just because I quit watching I do not wish ill will towards them I just sense that is something brewing. You put a new soap opposite the same air time against one that’s been on for years seems strange.
Beyond the Gates is only airing opposite GH in certain markets. Many major cities will get the new show one hour prior to GH.
Have loved Tristan Rogers since his debut as Robert Scorpio in the 80s! I’ve followed him to Y&R, then back to GH. His segue from superspy to lovable curmudgeon has been great fun to watch. But TPTB have never really used him to his abilities. Scorpio has been portrayed as a deadbeat dad now, not once, but twice. While we get a nice scene with Diane, a final farewell to Anna might have been nice.
I’m hoping that he and Holly DO return, and that the writers give them something of substance to do. Is Jenz the new Faison?
I should have known that, having seen an entire week with my favorite character, who’s pretty much been used on a monthly basis for the past few years, that he was leaving again. GH is going to have to get much, much better. I’ve pretty much been tuning in for a glimpse of my favorite superspy, who dabbled in law. Who knew? LOL!
I no longer enjoy watching GH the writers have ruined it with their stupid stories I detest Holly and if they want Robert to be a Casanova they need to bring in someone younger to portray him,I don’t like Drew or Willow anymore either these writers have destroyed a good show.
I’m with ya. I like Emma Sams but I don’t like Holly. They turned Drew into a selfish man whore. They’ve turned Willow, Michael and Sasha into impulsive twits when that title already belongs to Kristina. Makes no sense.
How can Robert, the DA, just pick up and leave without so much as a resignation email ? I’m sure Sonny won’t miss him.
And making them Sasha’s parents really suck. I still don’t know why GH keeps her around. Now I guess we’re stuck with her.
On Thursdays show, it was explained that Robert took a leave of absence.
Good! I’m so glad! They can both go and no one will care!
Hope it was Tristans decision.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but did Robert just leave and not even say goodbye to his own family and his most recent finding that he has a daughter also Sasha
Earlier in the week, Mac finally gave in and encouraged Robert to peruse happiness with Holly. We didn’t get a goodbye scene from Mac when he left for months (due to JJY’s illness). It’s not out of character for a Scorpio to depart like that.
Diane’s breakdown. I love her and wish she and Robert were together.
If they are leaving, then let them go. That’s how I feel about characters. If an actor doesn’t want to stay, recast. With serials, story comes first. I am happy GH is recalibration but I wish for a happier Lucky. And an end to baby storyline, and rehashed couplings. I would think it possible to craft a new adventure twist and maybe let Cassadines, WSB, and silly convoluted spy stories rest. A good mystery? A road trip? A rise in power? Something new.
Diane dealt with Scorpio well and I’m glad he did tell her he loves her. She did fantastic and then the tears. With the exception of that… It was pretty awesome Scorpio and Holly leaving together like that. I hope Diane gets the handsome, hot man she deserves and it’s going to take her awhile but she finally gives love a chance again. I love her character and she deserves spice and spontaneous and just in love with her… And she feels the same way.
So true.
Totally agree with you. Diane is the woman Holly could never be! Holly is nothing but trouble in every way..
Holly kall Robert fly home Diane heart Robert together make love
Halle is not good for Robert he gather kill I love Robert and Diane Vicky chose Holly turf no say no to Halle over is a pass in the past take the flight out and his office. He’s a DA.

‘General Hospital’s’ Amanda Setton Talks Her Reaction, Scenes, and Co-Stars After Becoming a Daytime Emmy Nominee for the First Time (Exclusive)

When the nominations were announced for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards earlier this week, General Hospital fans were thrilled to see Amanda Setton’s name as one of this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actress nominees.
It marks the first time in her career that she has ever been nominated. Setton has played Brook Lynn Quartermaine since 2019. Soap viewers first saw her in the role of Kimberly Andrews on One Life to Live during her run from 2009-2011.
Amanda received her Daytime Emmy nomination for her emotional turn as Brook Lynn learned she had been lied to by her mother, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) for years, after giving up her baby for adoption as a teen. Little did she know she had a secret son living with her this whole time at the Quartermaine mansion in Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza).

During an exclusive conversation live on Tuesday night, July 14, during the Michael Fairman Channel’s annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special, she discussed her reaction to the news, her nominated reel and her GH co-stars.
GOING FOR EMMY GOLD
Setton explained how she found out she was a Emmy nominee! “Frank Valentini called me, our boss. It was such a beautiful moving moment. I’ve known Frank for 20 years and to share this with him, I’m indebted to him on a lot of levels. I was in the car with my husband. We were going for a hike. We got away for just a couple days, just the two of us. It was early in the morning and to share that moment with Frank, to share that moment with my husband, it was the best. We cried and I’m just so grateful.”
The Supporting Actress nominee shared what scenes she submitted: “My reel was obviously about the Gio storyline. It started with the scenes with Lulu (Alexa Havins) and shout out to Alexa! She’s the best. It’s when I first find out that she knows and that I had boy. Then, begging her not to tell Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and just to leave it alone, then into the scenes with Rena Sofer, shout out to her! She is the best. I love her. I spoke to her today. She deserved to also be nominated. They are the scenes right after I find out at the Nurses’ Ball, and right after Brooklyn finds out that Gio is her son, not her cousin. Then my reel ended with the scene with Gio in the kitchen when Brook Lynn’s first sees him after the Nurses’ Ball and she says, ‘We can work this out,’ and he’s like, ‘No, we can’t,” and he walks away. It was an amazing story and kudos to the writers.”

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCENES
It is always important in the Emmy game to put together a submission, so that someone who doesn’t watch the show day to day, can grasp the story of what’s happening to your character. Setton explained how she went about assembling the choices for her scenes. “Between Michelle Henry (producer, GH) and Frank, they said, ‘You need to tell the story. Find the scenes that tell the story.” Once I did it was clear to all of us, the story has been told,” shared Amanda.
“Anyone who’s watching this reel can get a feel for the intensity of the story. I think after even the first scene where you’re just like, ‘Wait a minute! This girl had a baby? She didn’t know if it was a boy or girl?’ Now this nemesis of her wants to … ‘What’s happening? What’s going on? And then the mom knew the story? ‘ So by the end, your heart’s just broken for this girl.”
Initially, Amanda like the viewers were trying to figure out how GH would make sense of the story, where suddenly years later we find out Brook Lynn got pregnant at summer camp by Dante! Setton said, “Once they (the writers) started building it out and you saw all the different relationships playing out between her and her mother, her and Dante, her and Lulu, her and Gio, her and her husband Chase (Josh Swickard), even Tracy (Jane Elliot), and then the fallout of all of it, it just touched so many characters on the canvas. I think it was like a huge juicy burger for the fans to just take a big bite.”

AMANDA SETTON TALKS ON HER TV SON GIOVANNI MAZZA
In addition to Amanda, both Giovanni Mazza and Braedyn Bruner (Emma) landed their first ever nominations in the Emerging Talent category. Setton shared how she and Mazza have developed such a close bond.
“Gio and I are super close. Right from the start, we just hit it off. He is such a delight. He’s so hardworking. He’s such an eager learner. He’s always looking to be better. He always wants to grow. That’s a huge testament to his work ethic,” explains Amanda. “He’s an amazing person, and over the last couple of years, we’ve had many deep conversations about work, about life, perspective, gratitude, values, a lot of different deep things. I could not be more thrilled for Gio and this moment for him. It is well deserved. He has worked so hard for it. I really hope he wins. Although, I also love Braedyn!”
One of the most unforgettable moments of 2025 in the soaps is when Gio takes to the Nurses’ Ball stage after overhearing Lulu and Lois talk that he is the biological son of Brook Lynn and Dante. Ready to begin to play his violin, he smashes it pieces and storms off. Setton was in the scene and recalls, “That was wild. He did such a great job with that. That is not an easy moment to hit, pun intended. He nailed it.”

Photo: ABC
THE CONNECTION WITH JANE ELLIOT
On General Hospital, Brook Lynn is close with her ‘Granny,” the one and only Tracy Quartermaine, and in real life Amanda is very close with Jane Elliot, with whom she was able to share the news of her nomination. “First of all, this woman has become one of my closest friends.”
Amanda adds, I’m not exaggerating. I am confident to say she would say the same. We’ve become really close friends outside of work. We speak, almost every day. We just went out to lunch last week. She’s become such a close person in my life over these last few years. She’s such a leader. Jane’s a really special person in my life after my family. I wanted to share the news of this nomination with her and she was over the moon.”
HARD WORK PAID OFF
Getting a pat on the back from her peers is one of the more touching moments in Amanda’s career, as she explains: “I have to say we’re in the daytime world, so for us it feels so wonderful and so rich. But in the landscape of the entertainment industry, in daytime, we’re in the trenches. We work really hard. We have a ton of pages. We have a ton of really high stakes, dramatic work to try to do in a grounded, authentic way, continuously every day on television. Not that it’s thankless, because thank God we are employed actors on a network TV show, and we are also grateful. But, I’m not going to lie, and say it doesn’t feel good to just get a little ‘thank you’ or like a little, ‘I see your work.’ It feels fulfilling.”
You can check out the full live interview with Amanda Setton at the 2:24:26 mark during the Daytime Emmy Nominations Special Live below, which featured 13 newly-nominated actors sharing their reactions and what they submitted for their reels the landed them a nomination at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
So, are you happy for Amanda that she finally secured her first ever Daytime Emmy nomination? Do you think she is one of the frontrunners for the gold for Outstanding Supporting Actress based on the emotional tale of Brook Lynn’s journey to learning she had a son and it was Gio Palmieri? Grady Eldridge Makes His ‘General Hospital’ Debut as Music Executive Simon

There’s another new face in Port Charles, when on today’s Wednesday, July 15 on General Hospital, Grady Eldridge made his debut as Simon, a new music executive, who is scouting talent for his record label.
According to Soap Opera Digest, Eldridge is on recurring status with the ABC soap opera, and in story, Simon is the A&R rep responsible for signing music acts and he enters the scene as Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) sets up a musical showcase for Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) who accompanies her on guitar. As the showcase kicks off, Simon arrives.
While his GH role marks his first on daytime, Grady can currently be seen in the final season of HBO’s comedy hit, Hacks. He has numerous credits in primetime including: Doctor Odyssey, The Sex Lives of College Girls and appeared as Max in the recently released in Jennifer Lopez’s movie office romance.
Eldridge joins several other newcomers have joined the ABC soap including: Dean Geyer as Dr. Tristan Roberts (who first showed up on Monday’s July 13 episode), and Troy Lennon Appel as mysterious businessman, Hudson who shows up later this month.
In addition, GH fans will get the chance to see Kayden Brenna Tokarski who takes over the role of Scout Cain, and Kelly Kruger (ex-Mackenzie Browning, The Young and the Restless) who is the recast Serena Baldwin, who debuts on July 30.
So, do you hope Simon sticks around Port Charles? Do you think Trina and Gio will become a major recording act, or will trouble be brewing with this new music executive, and Brook Lynn will spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e? Let us know your thoughts and impressions after checking out Grady on today’s GH via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Tells Danny: ‘The Place They Were Holding Me Was Bad, Really Bad’

What happened to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) when he was captivity by the WSB? That is the question on many minds of General Hospital viewers, especially following the airing of the Tuesday, July 14 episode of the ABC daytime drama series, which also received a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards yesterday.
In story and in the pick-up of Monday’s episode, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) comes face to face with his father at the Quartermaine boathouse. Jason assures his son that he is home for good. However, Jason is confused why the WSB suddenly released him from Jakarta in the last 48 hours.
Danny goes in on his father for taking the fall for Cullum’s shooting when it was Rocco who shot the now deceased WSB director. Jason tried to explain he had to make a last minute decision and didn’t want Rocco’s life to be ruined by shooting another man.

Courtesy/ABC
JASON WANTS TO TAKE A SHORT TRIP WITH DANNY
Jason promised Danny that from now on, he is his top priority, and that time away has given him a new perspective. When Danny tries to get more intel from his dad on what he went through, all Jason would say is, “The place they were holding me was bad, really bad.”
Danny admits that the person he told that Rocco shot Cullum was Port Charles bureau chief, Jack Brennan, but he told him that WSB would want Danny to drop the whole thing, and just leave it be now that Cullum is dead.
TRACY SEES JASON
Suddenly, Tracy (Jane Elliot) shows up and is happy to see that Jason has resurfaced saying she knew he would be back. As she welcomed him home, Jason has a favor to ask her.
Next, he proposes much to Danny’s happiness, that he and his son are going to away together for a few days to catch up on things. So, that there is no issue, Jason asks if Tracy can please tell Alexis that he has returned to Port Charles and anyone else that would need to know, so they are not concerned for Danny’s welfare and that they know he is with his dad. Tracy agrees, and she and Jason share a hug.
Now the question is, what happened to Jason? We know his face is beaten up. We saw in flashbacks he was held in a cell and we can see he had been experiencing what seems like PTSD from being in captivity.
Previously, GH co-head writer, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten previewed to Soap Opera Digest on Jason’s return, “His imprisonment has had a profound effect on his outlook and how he intends to conduct the rest of his life. His decision will have big implications for Danny, Britt, the Quartermaines, Anna and especially Sonny.”
So, what do you think happened to Jason while being held by the WSB? Did something horrific occur? Will Jason tell Sonny he can no longer work for him so he no longer puts himself or his family in any kind of danger? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
