Has Jasper Jacks Been Recast on ‘General Hospital?’
There is a recast coming soon to General Hospital, but which character will it be? Rumors and speculative guesses began swirling after the posting of the Sunday, August 30 episode of the That’s Awesome Podcast and You Tube series featuring GH’s Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
During their host banter, Anderson brought up the challenges faced in a soap opera when an actor comes in as a recast and replaces another actor known for their role. The challenges included: what happens to a performer who doesn’t fully know the back-story of which they may be walking into, and how they build said back-story their own way. To which, Burton shared that he recently shared scenes with someone who has not aired yet, and who is a recast.
As the conversation ensued, Steve revealed, “So, there’s a guy on the show right now, who (more recently) came on the show, and you guys will see him. I had some scenes with him, and I can’t say what it is yet. But I said to him, ‘Do you know exactly what’s happening?’ I said that, because his decision-making in the scene had to do with events that have happened and the history with some of the other characters. The actors says, ‘I don’t really know what’s really happened, but I do create the backstory (for) myself.”‘

THE RECAST IS A VETERAN TELEVISION ACTOR
Steve continued, “Now, he’s been an actor for a long, long time. He’s been on some primetime shows. He’s done this a long time. So I said, ‘Do you mind if I just tell you kind of what this is, who this is, why they’re doing it and what the involvement for me is?’ He goes, ‘I would love to (know).’ If you can just give someone just a few things where they go, ‘Oh! That’s why I’m saying this!’ Now, the interpretation needs to be this or my intention needs to be this in the scene.’ So, once he airs, we can talk about that more.”
JASPER JACKS
So, who could be returning to General Hospital in the form of another actor? GH viewers were swift to make their picks. Number one so far has been Jasper Jacks. The last time “Jax” was on-screen was November 22, 2021, when he shared a goodbye scene with his ex-wife Carly (Laura Wright). At that time, he told her he was leaving Port Charles to deal with business in his homeland of Sydney, Australia.
In recent weeks, GH has been ramping up the story of JJE (Jasper Jacks Enterprises) with his daughter, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) now accepting his supposed offer to run his company while he is sailing abroad. That message was delivered by mysterious newcomer Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel).
However, Josslyn initially turned down the position, but then was given her next WSB assignment from Brennan (Chris McKenna) which was to accept the position and infiltrate the company as the bureau is looking into some kind of foul play. It would make the most sense that the series has recast the role since Ingo Rademacher left GH over the Covid-19 vaccine mandate and then sued ABC and the series.
JERRY JACKS
If it is not Jax, another top choice is his nefarious brother, Jerry Jacks, previously played by Sebastian Roche. The last time the character was seen on-screen was back on the December 22, 2015 episode. Jerry was sent to prison on-screen, but off-screen escaped. He was referenced back in a story in 2019 and could be in the middle of a secret takeover of JJE.
NIKOLAS CASSADINE
Another pick was that of Nikolas Cassadine, last played by Adam Huss. Nikolas most recent appearance was back in August of 2024, when his ex-wife Ava Jerome (Maura West) came to visit him in prison. Huss had been playing Nikolas on and off since the multiple exits of Marcus Coloma starting in September of 2021, before taking over the role more permanently from January 2023 through August 2024.

Clearly this new “Hudson” character is reporting to somebody involved in the Jacks family business, and it doesn’t seem to be Jax himself. Jerry seems the likely answer, and he’s probably also Hudson’s father.
Whether Jasper Jacks knows Hudsan is his nephew or not is open to interpretation. Jerry never mentioned having any kids before. It would be like Jax to hire his nephew, believing that giving him a legitimate job might keep him from following in his father’s footsteps. If that’s the case, it seems like that idea didn’t work too well, as Hudson’s clearly been working other agendas since he’s been in Port Charles, and before that. LIke whatever his involvement was with Ethan and little baby Phoebe’s dead mom.
So we’re clearly getting Jerry back at some point. But it’s also a historical fact that Jerry has never set foot in Port Charles when his brother wasn’t there. So if a Devil had to guess, I would say they got Sebastian Roche back as Jerry, and the recast will be Jasper Jacks.
And from what Steve Burton says, this NuJax might be somebody we recognize. Hope the guy’s taken some time to watch some old episodes and immerse himself in a little bit of Jacks family history. Like the part where Jerry became a mercenary terrorist after his brother basically threw him under the bus to get out of a federal prison sentence for a series of “white collar crimes” for which they were both guilty.

Love the theory but I’ve kind of thought Hudson and Joss were heading for a relationship. If that’s the case then he can’t be related to her.
Ingo Rademacher committed career suicide by suing ABC so I hope they do recast.
So did Victoria Rowell and Brenda Dickson.
One could argue Kelly Monaco did also.

Kelly Monaco? She didn’t leave on bad terms. Storylines dictated her demise.

Well if it is Jax is GH going to do what they did with the character of Cane on Y&R drop his accent and make him ten years younger? If Burton is right how many daytime veterans are Australian .
I do feel like it could either be Jasper or Jerry Ja, and it could be interesting to see who steps into either of those roles. I could see Tim Robards (ex-Pierce, Neighbours) in the role of Jasper Jax. He’d really suit the role effectively well, but it sounds like they [might] be pushing an Americanised version of Jasper is they go that route.
Recasting Jax wouldn’t be surprising in the least, since they started dropping his name again a few weeks ago, and everyone knows the situation with Ingo deciding to torch the bridge when he sued ABC.
Recasting Jerry would be very disappointing, however. Sebastian Roche made the character what it became, one of the classic villains in GH history. Someone else playing Jerry would be hard to take, at least I feel that way..
Don’t see it being Nikolas since I can’t imagine why a new Nikolas would be sharing scenes with Steve Burton. Jason and Nikolas don’t really share history on the show.
I completely agree about Jerry, but I felt the same way about Victor Cassadine when Charles Shaughnessy took over and he did wonders with the character. Maybe GH can strike gold twice?
If it is a Jax recast though, I think Charles Measure would have been perfect for that role. Too bad he won’t return to daytime, because he was dynamite as Brennan.
Good point, I remember being skeptical when Charles Shaughnessy assumed the role of Victor. But he ended up doing a great job, and made the role totally different and his own from how Thaao Penghlis played the character. So I’m sure they could get someone to competently step into the role of Jerry, and make it their own. It would just take some getting used to.
Very possible theories! Jason is very protective of Carly, so I can definitely see Jax back. As much as I loved Ingo, they won’t rehire him. He definitely needs to have an Australian accent because Jax is Australian! Sebastian Roche said some time ago that he won’t return, so Jerry would have to be recast.
On the off chance that it’s Nikolas being recast (which I really hope for because the character is sorely missed), who could realistically play the role with the kind of confidence and gravitas that Tyler Christopher had? IMO, he was the only one who got the role right – I could never accept either Marcus Coloma or Adam Huss as Nikolas.
My vote would be for Michael Muhney (ex-Adam, Y&R), but I highly doubt that will happen. If not him, Nick Stabile? He filled in as Nikolas in 2016 and did a great job. I was always curious why they didn’t bring him back when Nikolas returned in 2019.
Agreed re: Marcus & Adam. Part of the issue is Ron C turned him villain after Nik was a tortured prince with a good heart for 20 yrs prior. Marcus & Adam’s versions were written as too dark. Marco Dapper gets my vote. He’s sexy, looks the part, and could bring heart to the character again. Would love to see Victor, Helena, Spencer, Stefan & Sam back too.
The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards are in the record books, and after the winners names were announced many of your favorite soap stars took their new gold statuette and then posed for photos at the Winners Walk.
For the first time in her career, Tamara Tunie won a Daytime Emmy, and for her leading role as Anita Dupree Williams, the matriarch of the Dupree family on CBS’ Beyond the Gates.
Tunie became the second actress in history to win for the newest soap in the competition, after Ambyr Michelle won earlier in the evening and became the first performer in the series history to win gold. Michelle won in the Outstanding Emerging Talent category.

EMOTIONS RAN HIGH
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series went to The Bold and the Beautiful’s Scott Clifton, who won his fourth Emmy overall and second in Lead for his touching performances as Liam Spencer during Liam’s medical crisis storyline for an inoperable brain tumor, which turned out to be a ruse.
During his acceptance speech, Clifton shared, “This means so much to me, not the thing, the attaboy from my peers. I can think of few things that bring me more joy than that.”
Speaking on his fellow nominees which included the likes of Y&R’s Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and GH’s Steve Burton, (Jason Morgan) Clifton said, “I am in awe of all of you, and you’ve taught me so much. It was a really hard year, and you made me invincible. You are my existential oxygen tank. And I don’t know what I would do without you. I love you, and I am grateful to you.
DECADES BETWEEN
In the Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress categories, two longtime names synonymous with daytime drama, Roger Howarth (Matt Clark, Y&R) and Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott, Y&R) won their second Emmys in their career. Roger 32 years after his last Emmy playing Todd Manning on One Life to Live in 1994, and Beth Maitland for winning 41 years after becoming Y&R’s first performer to win Emmy gold back in 1985.
General Hospital executive producer, Frank Valentini and his producing team took home the gold for the sixth year in a row for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series for the ABC soap. He later shared a moment with Scott Clifton, who started his daytime career as Dillon Quartermaine on GH.
During the ceremonies, the iconic Genie Francis (Laura, General Hospital) was presented with the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award by her husband actor and director, Jonathan Frakes. After Francis received the award she posed for some snaps for the photographers in attendance.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Heather Webber Makes a Surprise Return Stunning Tina; Alley Mills Weighs-In on Her Comeback
The Friday, October 30 episode of General Hospital came to a conclusion with a one-two cliffhanger. The first, as Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) finished rehearsing their song at the Cats Eye Lounge, a woman’s feet where seen entering the club.
When the camera panned up it revealed a well-dressed Heather Webber (Alley Mills) applauding and yelling “bravo!” at the two young performers, but with Trina absolutely shocked to see her!
While General Hospital fans knew two-time Daytime Emmy winner was rejoining the show as the supposed reformed “Hook” killer (after cobalt poisoning due to her hip surgery played with her mind), what is Heather’s ‘state of mind’ now?

For months, GH has been teeing up the mystery of who is stalking Trina, with someone adding clippings of Trina to their “obsession” board.
Many viewers have felt that it will wind up being Heather who is seeking revenge on Trina, since Heather’s daughter Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) went overboard a boat and into the Siene in France, and is believed to be dead, after Spencer (last played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez) saved Trina from her.
Speaking with TV Insider about her GH return this fall, Alley Mills shared on her first scenes back: “That was so fun because I love working with Tab, but I’ve never worked with the other kids before. I’ve seen them on TV, but I have never met them before, and they’re really talented, and they definitely got in Heather’s face. And the blessed Shawn Reeves, the wonderful costumer, put me in this fabulous outfit.”

With Heather soon to mix-up with the residents of Port Charles, Mills added that Heather now has some wealth to boot! “It’s been an uphill battle, and she just hopes that people will understand and forgive her,” explains Mills. “But with the wonderful voice of Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte (co-head writers, GH and this year’s Daytime Emmy winners for Outstanding Writing in a Daytime Drama), she just has so much spunk.”
Mills added, “I love the way they write her (Heather). She doesn’t really have a ton of boundaries and social awareness and softness. But she just won’t let people get her down. She’s like one of those dolls outside the gas station. You throw them down, and they pop back up. I feel like Heather is kind of like that now, but in Gucci.”

The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards have just concluded on Friday night, October 30, and it was ABC’s General Hospital who took home the top prize for Outstanding Drama Series for the sixth time in row. Executive Producer, Frank Valentini accepted the award on behalf of the show.
Beyond the Gates scored its first two acting honors in the young history of the show. Veteran actress, Tamara Tunie won her first ever Emmy for Lead Actress a Daytime Drama Series for her performances as Anita Dupree, while Ambyr Michelle took home the gold in the Emerging Talent category.
Scott Clifton won his fourth Daytime Emmy overall, and second Lead Actor Emmy for his heart-tugging performance as Liam Spencer, who believed he was battling an inoperable brain tumor, only for it to turn out to be medical ruse to bilk Liam’s father out of $1 million dollars.

DECADES BETWEEN BETH MAITLAND AND ROGER HOWARTH LAST EMMY WIN
In the Supporting Actor and Actress categories, Daytime Emmy history was made with Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott, The Young and the Restless) winning her second Emmy 41 years since she won her first won, and Roger Howarth (Matt Clark, The Young and the Restless) following suit for the men with his coming 32 years after he won in 1994 for One Life to Live.

Jeff Kober picked up his second Daytime Emmy win for his role as Cyrus Renault on General Hospital in the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Daytime Drama Series category. He previously won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the role in 2022, following a nomination in the same category in 2021.
The Kelly Clarkson Show, meanwhile, won Outstanding Daytime Talk Series it its final year, while Sherri Shepherd won for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host after finding out her talker had been canceled after four seasons.

THINK OF LAURA
General Hospital star Genie Francis (Laura) received the Lifetime Achievement Award and shared from the stage, “I know 50 years sounds like an awfully long time, but it doesn’t feel like that to me,” she said. “As they say, if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.”
Overall, General Hospital, Beyond the Gates and The Kelly Clarkson Show received the most gold statuettes for the night with four wins apiece.
