General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Robert Remembers Robin Is Alive! Will Anna Finally Rescue Her Daughter?

Courtesy/ABC
If ever there was a moment in soap opera history that we, the viewers, were just agonizing along with the character to get out the words that hold the key to further a story, it was on Friday’s fantastic episode of General Hospital ... and talk about your “Cliffhanger Fridays”?
On Friday’s episode, Tristan Rogers finally returned on-screen as Robert Scorpio, who came out of his coma that he has been in for so, so long! When he wakes up, Robert is disoriented and struggling to remember what happened the night he got the syringe, thanks to Dr. Obrecht, that landed him comatose in this hospital room in Switzerland. With Anna (Finola Hughes) by his side, he starts to remember the key missing bit of information from that fateful day, in an unbelievable performance by Rogers! He tells Anna, “Obrecht was there alright. But she wasn’t alone.” Anna asks, “Alright, who was she with?” Robert in near tears and hysterics bursts out with, “She was with our daughter! She was with Robin, Anna!” And then we fade to black till Monday!
But what made this all the more delicious was that in scenes prior, Dr Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), who is basically tormenting her captor, Robin Scorpio Drake (Kimberly McCullough), all but said to her that Robert will never remember that he saw Robin, even if he wakes up! But he did, Dr O!
What has made this story so sensational to watch unfold is that instead of making the audience suffer along with the character of Robin of her finding out bit by bit what went on in Port Charles with Patrick, while she has been held against her will for over a year, Robin has been filled in by Jerry Jacks, Dr O, and the DVD of the Nurses Ball! So, Robin knows about Sabrina, and knows about Britt! Even, though Dr O has skewered the facts for her own malicious intent, such as kidnapping baby Ben bringing him to Robin and telling the long-suffering heroine that this is Patrick and her daughter, “Britta’s” baby!
And there was more drama filled moments on Friday’s episode! How about when Patrick (Jason Thompson), alone after his talk with Sam (Kelly Monaco), recalled scenes from his wedding to Robin? The footage itself was such a wonderful moment for long time fans of the series who have rooted and wanted Patrick and Robin back together! But that was actually slightly topped in emotional impact, when on Thursday’s episode, after Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) is out of her mind with worry about where her evil mother took her son, Anna remember saving a kidnapped Robin as a child in the historic and heartbreaking scenes of little Robin running into the arms of her mother ! And that was shown as Robin was lamenting in the present day that she wishes that Anna would rescue her as she has always done.
There is still one big fact that has not been revealed to key people in the storyline: “Britta” is the daughter of Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) and Dr. Obrecht! Robin does not know, and Anna does not know, but Britt knew and did not tell Anna, which could have been the key to where Dr. O was going to eventually take her baby.
In addition, Carlos (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) is turning up the pressure and the heat on Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) constantly undermining her relationship with Patrick and re-emphasizing that the good doc is not over his “dead” wife! Luke (Anthony Geary) is held up on Cassadine Island with Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche), where Jerry wants to give a dying Luke a sample of the anti-toxin that Robin made to test it, and to make sure Robin is not trying to kill Jerry! Meanwhile, a very clever Robin gets Dr. O to come look at her finding in her microscope pretending she has found the cure that could save Jerry’s life Robin next smashes a vase over Dr. O’s head and she knocks her out! Next Robin says, “Now who’s the ‘stupid girl’? Sweet dreams Frau Doctor! Now it’s time for my dreams to come true! I am going home to my husband and my daughter. I’m going home to my family!” We wanted to yell, “Run, Robin, run!”
Friday’s GH moved along as such a crisp pace, as it had all week long, that it reminded us of how very successful primetime shows make every scene count in telling story within an hour time block to move the story forward. Kudos to GH executive producer, Frank Valentini and head writer, Ron Carlivati for an amazing string of episodes with Friday’s at the top of the list for excitement! This is what masterful soap opera storytelling is all about.
So the questions remain: Will Anna finally be able to put all the pieces together of the puzzle and figure out where Robin is? Will Patrick move forward with his relationship with Sabrina even faster in trying to move on from Robin? Or, will he put on the brakes? Is Cesar Faison going to pop up anytime soon? Where you blown away by the performances of Tristan Rogers, Finola Hughes, Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson? What were your favorite parts of Friday’s episode? What do you think will happen next? Comment below!
I love Robert. That is all.
Tristan really was a sight for sore eyes! His smile just lights up the room, doesn’t it???? Welcome back, Scorpio!
doesn’t he though
just throws you off guard….
nonplussed at his sexuality… and his original aussie
captivated plus he needs i need
Not to mention his accent! Love him and hope they keep him this time but if we go by the writer’s pattern…doubtful.
Would like for him to find out Ethan isn’t really his son and for Nathan Parsons) to return now that Helena is “supposedly” dead. Which I doubt…that she’s dead!
Oh, I love Tristan Rogers. Yes, that wonderful smile! Love, love, love him. Great to have Robert back.
There is no one better. Tristan Rogers gave an awesome performance. Robert Scorpio needs to stay permanently.
Doesn’t he just? Ever the charmer he is….and aged like a fine wine!!!!! Port Charles is a far happier (and classier) place with Mr. Rogers in residence!!!!
Tristan back on our screen was pure heaven. Now I hope they are not making Anna the sole hero in this rescue. It has to be Robert and Anna as a team. I loved that My favorite hero is back. The only thing that I did not like was his wakeup was off camera and Holly was not there. I really hope there’s more to the story on why Holly was not there. With this rubbish still being there that Ethan is a result of an “affair” that Holly and Luke had and any fan knows that was written in Guza years. Holly should have been there. Hoping evil mutter has kidnaped Holly and Holly now knows Robin is alive and is cooperating to help save her. Anyway Welcome back Tristan, you and Finola were phenomenal in your scenes as usual and hope you both save Robin.
Once Mr. Spencer’s grave condition was revealed, I was sort of hoping for a “Luke’s Angels” type of rescue team comprised of all his lovely ladies of yesteryear : English/Holly, Blaze/Skye, his original “Angel”/Laura and maybe even “Slim”/Anna, although her plate is obviously full at the moment. But at least “Spanky”/Tracy has already made it to his side. Still looking for some additional reinforcements though….can’t believe they are too far behind!
P.S. And “Alice!” Cannot forget “Mr. Luke’s” greatest “enforcer!.”
The powers to be need to put Tristan Rogers on contract. Do they not notice the ratings spike whenever they bring him back? Viewers love Robert Scorpio and GH needs more legacy characters to appear on a regular basis not just during sweeps. Bring back Sean and Tiffany too!
Can’t bring back Tiffany, as she is sick
Not true. She had her finally surgery last month and is recovering nicely.
yaahhhh!!
This, is what is making GH the #1 drama series;
”Friday’s GH moved along as such a crisp pace, as it had all week long, that it reminded us of how very successful primetime shows make every scene count in telling story within an hour time block to move the story forward. Kudos to GH executive producer, Frank Valentini and head writer, Ron Carlivati for an amazing string of episodes with Friday’s at the top of the list for excitement! This is what masterful soap opera storytelling is all about.”
BRAVO for giving us prime time drama/action stories and at a faster pace!!!!
Agree… BRAVO GH for incredible TV!!! BRAVO and Thank you!!!
Was a great week and Friday was incredible! With Robin, Jerry, Dr. O, Ben, Luke and soon (from the previews) Tracy and the inevitable arrival of Robert, Mac, Anna, Britt, Nick and the fallout affecting Patrick, Sabrina, Carlos, Maxie, Lulu, Spinelli, Dante and probably Olivia…. this is top notch storytelling. A stupid move by the previous writing regime (killing off Robin) has turned into a really great set of stories for the show… and the best is I’m sure yet to come – including, hopefully an appearance by Faison and untangling how Julian Jerome is involved in all of this – which will rope in pretty much the remaining cast in one way or another. Great great job!!!
I meant to write “With Robin, Jerry, Dr. O, Ben, Luke and soon (from the previews) Tracy all on Cassidine Island and the inevitable arrival ..”
Who is Ben?
I think Ben is the baby named after the rat in the movie Ben!
Robert and Anna need to find Robin together. A Robert and Anna adventure and reconciliation would be a wonderful way to continue from Friday. I just wish TPTB keep Robert around for the long haul!
It is not ABC or any power that is not putting TR under GH contract, it is his choice not to be .. 🙂
I have heard Tristan hint to the opposite that he love to more GH and possibly be under contract. His exact words and i heard him say, that he doesn’t sit around waiting for them to call him but he is always open to it.
Agree Susan!!! It needs to be Robert and Anna that find Robin!
It was an amazing week on GH! Seeing Robert, Anna, and Mac in the same room was a long time coming. Robin is a feisty bad ass and I loved when she clocked Dr. O on the head! The only thing that would’ve made the week better was Julie playing Lulu. To me, those scenes weren’t as emotional as they should’ve been because JMB wasn’t in them.
Yes the pace is wonderful— but just a reminder, after November sweeps into the holiday season and January- expect a slowdown. As much as some want daytime to be like prime time, it can’t– a prime time drama is max 20 shows a season– not the over two hundred shows per year for a soap on daytime. Enjoy the ride while it lasts– but don’t expect it to last forever. I recall plenty of complaints about the slowdown after the Nurses Ball, and while they were setting up the Jerome family to come to town. Soaps are all about ebbs and flows– right now GH is flowing
Let’s be happy with what we are getting and I agree they can’t keep up the pace and the incrediblly jam packed stories but let’s embrace it and enjoy everything they give us. Mary is right about the ebbs and flows and the building of intricate story-lines and that takes time and layering and it can’t all flow like it is right now!!!
Its soooooooooooooo gooooooooooooood right now…
I really appreciate RC and FV and the love and care they’re putting into Robin’s return. Do I like every factor? No. But I truly get the feeling that they want this reunion between Robin and Patrick to be everything they’ve built it up to be. I see them believing Robin and Patrick are the winning duo in all of this, and as a big fan of theirs, I sincerely appreciate it and can therefore look forward to the story unfold. I know some parts of this will still be stomach churning, but if the end result is as bright as I truly see them setting it up as, I will stick through it….and I haven’t said that about GH in years. I’m trusting them, trepidatiously, but I think it’s safe enough for me to do so.
I still don’t understand the link between Obrecht-Ceasar-Jerry-Ewen though? So Ewen took Robin, because he was working with Jerry…..and Jerry brought her to Switzerland to be taken care of by Obrecht. And while she was there, Ceasar made a visit. But it’s really Jerry who’s masterminded this whole thing? Not Ceasar, holding onto Robin because he’s still obsessed with Anna? He just happened to make an appearance to Robin, even though Jerry’s the one who has her? Am I getting this? I’ve missed so much to this story it may have been explained and I just was not watching to catch it. Anyone can clarify??? Thanks in advance.
Wish I could clarify but I’ve kind of let it all wash over me and am trying not to think about all the ins and outs too much. I don’t think that all pieces are supposed to fit together.. I’ve been watching soaps for 40 years and I’ve yet to see a story on any show be completely coherent and without plot holes.
Also: I totally forgot all about Ewen altogether.. and since no one on screen has even mentioned him in well over a year, I doubt his involvement will even come up.
This is the way i understood it– Jerry is dying from radiation poison but Faison says he can provide a cure for Jerry if he coughs up millions of dollars. In order to get that money Jerry poisons PC’s water supply and ransoms off the antidote. He gets the money, then fakes his death. I believe Robin was at first being used as someone to experiment on in order to find the cure, which would explain why Ewen was there overseeing Dr. O work for Jerry, since it was Jerry’s money going toward the cure Faison said he could produce for him.
Eventually Faison is discovered and John, Anna and Robert stormed the clinic where they also find the real Duke– perhaps he too was being experimented on for the cure. Dr. O is about to kill Robin, when Robert discovers them, so she is forced to give him the needle, but since the dose is meant for Robin’s body, it doesn’t kill him, but puts him in a coma. So with Faison in jail, Dr. O returns Robin to Jerry– and later Jerry tells Luke Dr. O couldn’t finish her work on the cure but told him Robin was a brilliant doctor who could find a cure for him and since then Jerry has had Robin doing just that.
Anyway that was my take on it—
You don’t know how carefully I had to read that Mary! Every line I read 4 times before I was absorbing this convoluted exposition, and I’m still not sure I have. Thanks for taking the time and typing it out though. I think at least I have a *better* idea…maybe….(by “John”, did you mean “Luke”?) but if someone were to just tune in now, when the show is on such a supposed high, I don’t know how they could follow this tale. I’d be so lost if I didn’t know as little as I do. Deep and layered is good, but this is really very complicated.
And thanks for trying, too, Andrew. I think I’ll just have to join your camp on this one if I’m going to enjoy this Scrubs reunion story. I can’t let these details bother me.
From what I can remember, Ewen first appears (or his body does) rescuing Elizabeth after she is pushed off (the haunted star?) by Lisa Niles (the first wacko Dr. who had to have Patrick). We soon discover that Ewen is a Dr. who is actually is staying at Wyndemere where he treating a young woman he calls”Cassandra”( who turns out to be Irina Cassadine, Helena’ daughter). Elizabeth and we the audience actually “meet” Ewen at Shady Brook (where she is staying for a time) soon to find out that he is the newly hired psychiatrist at G H. Eventually Ewen works with and diagnoses Kate Howard with having D.I.D. We see two different sides of Ewen- an excellent and seemingly kind Dr, but one who’s in cahoots with Jerry Jacks, for whom he kidnaps Robin- We then learn that Jerry blackmail is blackmailing Ewen for the revenge killing of Jerry’s father . John Jacks stole the dead man’s hand cards from Ewen’s father which led him (Ewen’s dad) to kill himself. Patrick and Elizabeth find out about Ewen’s association with Jerry after Jerry makes known to residents of PC that he has poisoned the town’s water supply. Ewen konks Patrick out with a bb bat and kidnaps Elizabeth, where Jason comes to her rescue and shoots Ewen. who dies before he can tell Patrick that Robin is still alive.whew that was a mouthful. Hope it helps
Mary SF here– by John I meant that guy who is playing Silias now— he came from OLTL as John McBain and he worked with Anna and he was the one who exposed fake Duke (Faison in disguise) by pouring hot cheese on the mask and it melted.
Later on PP and ABC had their spat about copyright and the character John McBain was written off GH and the guy who played John McBain came back on the show as Silias.
But I do get how twisted this story is and I can’t even guarantee my understanding is correct— because I started watching after Robin was kidnap and pieced together what happened to her by using soap sites that offer character histories to catch up.
In the end like you said it is about enjoying the drama on screen regardless how they got there. Also sometimes soap writers change direction–and when they do, sometimes the thread of the original story line doesn’t match up exactly to story line they decide to go with– so it may never completely connect seamlessly.
Ah yes. I remember now there was a John character brought on the show recently. Thanks for clarifying.
(I’m not so much doubting you right now, but “hot cheese”?? SERIOUSLY? *sigh*. I couldn’t take it if I watched that with my own eyes. There’s only so much ridiculous I can take and that just sounds like it far exceeds my limits.)
It wasn’t as “cheesy” as it sounds. The confrontation was taking place in a hotel room. Fake Duke (Faison) had arranged for this dinner for Anna in the suite, so there was a fondue in room, which I assume was cheese since most fondues are.
When John saw Anna didn’t know who was who anymore, or who to believe, Fake Duke or Robert, he observed Fake Duke sweating, I guess he noticed the mask then, so he grabbed the fondue and threw into Fake Duke’s face and the scalding liquid cause Faison to rip off the mask that half melted and thus revealing his true identity– so it was plausible under the circumstances for a soap anyway. LOL. It was honestly a lot of fun to watch — sorry you missed it.
I actually watched most episodes of GH this week primarily bc it had the Scorpio and Jones- many of the vets on! I loved Robert in the 80s and hope the vets go find Robin- a Gh mini “Red” team. Though I really find the constant bringing up of Frisco lately and often in a negative manner ridiculous. Move on ! Robert and Frisco were friends and we saw more of that brotherhood than Mac and Robert so bs on him saying some of that stuff. Either bring JW back or leave it to rest.
So right you are!…The constant Frisco bashing of this past week was beyond distasteful….it was insulting not only to Jack Wagner, but to all of his fans who would like nothing better than to see him back in Port Charles….and without his insipid ex-wife, at that!!!! The petty vendetta the ptb’s seem to have with this actor and his character is really off-putting and immature, and it is spoiling the nostalgic euphoria that many of us from the glory days of the ’80’s are otherwise enjoying…..either put up or shut up where Frisco is concerned!!!!!
I agree with both of you. I especially thought Robert’s comments to Mac were a little strange. I know Robert and Mac grew close eventually but Robert & Frisco had an incredible friendship for way more years.
Very true! I’ll give the “Adorable Aussie” the benefit of the doubt….we can blame the propofol overdose for his memory lapse…..LOL. However, there is simply no acceptable excuse for the writers’ and producers’ obviously intentional and regrettable use of revisionism to perform character assassination on our beloved “Frisco.” Now THAT’S just plain “nasty!” ; )
It’s been great but I think part of the reason for faster resolutions is because of the cancelled shows. The OLTL team knows that too many loose threads and stories that drag on cannot be tied up quickly should the worst happen…it’s a win/win.
Totally agree. Friday’s episode was awesome! Now I want Britt’s baby given to Dante and LuLu because we all know she had to have used one of their remaining embryos to get pregnant. I don’t like that she is so attached to Ben when she knows he’s not her son, and it will help ease the pain Dante and LuLu are feeing over having to give Connie to her real parents. Please lets not drag this storyline on much longer. It’s been long enough and Britt does not deserve that baby. Kudos to GH for finally bringing the Robin storyline to a conclusion. I agree to that Tristan Rogers need to be back on GH regularly. It’s so much better with the old characters. BTW not good on the Morgan/Ava storyline. Sorry, but I really hate the actor playing Morgan. He’s just so fake and I really hate that storyline. They need to end it like NOW!!
Last Week, Frank Valentini, Exec VP & Ron Carlavati , Head Writer proved once again why they are the leaders of this exciting soap. The episodes moved along smoothly and the actors had outstanding performances, especially Robert, Robin, Anna, Luke, Mac, Dr. O, Britt, Jerry Jacks, Patrick……and Tracy should be on an episode soon, looking for her lover man, Luke. Also it looks as if Alexis is getting closer to discovering that Derek Wells is Julian Jerome and as such, Sam’s father. I can hardly wait for Monday as I know we should have another exciting episode then. Keep up the good work, Valentini and Carlivati …..and we will get GH back in the #1 spot where it belongs and will stay forever!!!!! And that will make all GH fans very happy!!!!!! Rock on!!!!!!!
I think it’s been an amazing 50 years! It’s been an incredible year within the 50!!! It’s been a stellar month and an exceptional week and yes… Friday was an AWESOME show!!! It’s great story at a great pace… but first and foremost it’s a great/stellar/exceptional CAST with exceptional and powerful performances!!! When we have episodes with Anna, Robert, Robin, Patrick, Luke, Dr. O., Mac, Jerry, Duke, Alexis, Derek/Jullian, Sam, Maxie, Spinelli, Carly, Sonny, Tracy, Eva and everyone in that fabulous cast… we are going to get must see TV!!! I would love to see Robert on contract… I want him there for awhile. There is so much I want and they are giving us a lot and I feel like we are going to keep getting more and more!!! I can’t wait for next week!!! I hope we get to see Faison again and more Helena and more of evreyone we all love and enjoy. I am happy to get however much of my faves as they can give us! GH is truly the best soap… bar none and I am loving it more than the few prime time shows I like!!!
Thank you so much to everyone at GH!!! You are giving us the best cast ever and great story… fast pacing and fun… humor… intrique… jam packed… emotion… and must see… can’t wait for the next show… TV!!! I love GH!!! 50 years looks very good on you… GH!!! Thank you!!!
This is exactly how I feel……..I’ve always loved GH, but it’s been so much much better since Frank and Ron took over….they are awesome….best cast in alll of TV…….Thanks to everyone at GH for such a wonderful production which far surpasses anything else on daytime or nighttime…..
GH has not had time to become lackluster/boring because of the faster pace of the stories..
I lose interest when the stories carry on and on and on and on..
Picking up the pace of the stories keeps them exciting and must see not to miss a day!
GH is the shining star among the soaps!!
“Oh, My God”
Robert in near tears and hysterics bursts out with, “She was with our daughter!
“Oh, My god”
how good is that….
especially… knowing… Anna was with him…
two parents… realing from the discovery
I can’t get over ‘the’ talent in this storyline
magna-cum laude performances… just stellar….
Patrick
Robin
Emma
Anna
Robert
Maxie
unique and revelatory
Big Mac deserves mention
this time around, Kirsten Storms, is deliver’ing.
I honestly thought… at one time… it was Jenn Lilly who gave us layers of Maxie… who gave us Maxie to squirt with… you know
I found out with her….
so… it’s a treat this time to know Kirsten is delivery on spot… highlight reel
She deserves it… i like her
and… it’s more than her DOOL and teen bit part notoriety
she’s got it
I never get tired of her
she encompasses her real
OK, I just lost it….
Maxie telling Mac and Felicia
Mac: I wish you didn’t have to go thru this alone
Felicia: whe’re grandparents
“who lovely is that”
it was Georgia…..
that said….
“The best Dad in the Universe”
who doesn’t cry with that
The baby battle is becoming banal….as is “ShrewLu’s” shrill shrieking. She’s NOT your baby!!! Give her back to “Mama Maxinista”…end of story….can we move on now? Also, please provide a plausible plot to preclude a path to parenthood for the Falconeris (via Britt’s “Benny Boy”)….the only twist that terrible twosome truly deserves is a timeout for throwing those trite temper tantrums. Enough already…..
Ok first of all I loved every bit of GH Friday specially Robert remembering seeing Robin! And I love the use of Robin flashbacks=keep doing this with other characters who love her-show ones with Mac, Emma, Maxie and even her close friends like Sonny and Elizabeth. Hell I wouldn’t even mind a Jason one LOL!
Now I am going to offer my opinions on GH=obviously the story above is the best thing going for it and I love every bit. But here are a few bad things:
It time for the OLTLers to GO-or at least work out a deal to bring their original OLTL characters back. I hate KA as Kiki (the name even annoys me) and how Michael went from head over heels for Starr to a girl who except for hair color looks like her. Not even a slight double take? Come on. And while on hair color I cannot stand the bleach job, army cut look Roger Howarth is sporting as Franco. And quite frankly I hate Franco=have since the role was created for James Franco the actor. The character has wore out its welcome and this crappy “brain tumor made him evil” crap is dumb all to redeem him and build another romance with Carly. I liked Todd and Carly but falls flat with this Franco version. As for Silas, he is bland and unappealing at best. I was never a big John McBain fan on OLTL but I liked him on GH. So work out a deal to bring back McBain, Todd and Starr and get rid of Franco, Kiki and Silas please.
Oh and get rid of Ava Jerome please! I am NOT a fan of Maura West-never watched her on ATWT and loathed her as a bad recast Diane on Y&R. Now she is the show’s biggest skank, sleeping with not only her own son-in-law but he’s probably half her age. Talk about disgusting. Factor in that she is probably the one who killed Connie and is letting AJ take the fall only fuels my hatred of her.
And speaking of AJ stop making him the victim either of Tracy or Sonny. I want him and Michael to keep bonding as father and son and I want AJ to stop being the Quartermaine black sheep and Sonny’s kicking post. And I want his romance with Elizabeth to work out-let Nikolas keep chasing Britt they have chemistry and no more of Nik sniffing after his ex-sis-in law. It was gross the first go around so end it now and let AJ and Elizabeth’s romance keep progressing.
And while I am intrigued that Derek is Julian Jerome I hate that he is stuck in Sam and Alexis’ sphere, mainly cause I hate Alexis and because Sam needs to get a life. When was the last time Sam did her job? And she has gone from revolving her life around Jason to now heading down the same path with Silas. Can’t Sam be independent for once without her universe revolving around a man?
But on the whole GH is great thanks to this great story bringing back the Scorpio family in full fighting force. And also the battle to come between friends Dante/Lulu and Spinelli/Maxie over the baby Connie. I am rooting for Spixie to get their daughter back and Ben to be Dante and Lulu’s. That the outcome I predict. Only question in mind Is once Spixie get their daughter back will they keep the name Connie or change her name to Georgie?
Those are my thoghts and I been loving GH since I was in 9th grade and I now 47 and it gets better than ever since FV and RC took over. So glad Guza is no longer writing and let JFP trash Y&R. And lets once more praise whoever woke up and fired Brian Frons once more!!!!!
GH ROCKS-here’s to 50 more years of the best soap on tv!
I am in total sync with you re Maura West /Ava J. I vented about it in the article on Sept 26th ( or 25th ) that shows a pic of Ava /Morgan caught in bed using just about the same words as you, with the exception that even though I knew of her being in other soaps, I never saw her act. I somehow imagine that she plays every role the same way.
Totally agree with you about “Ava J.” West is becoming so over-the-top and one-note in her portrayal, it’s difficult to see how it can continue on for the long-term. However, I must admit that despite not being a fan of Ms. Jerome, there was an enjoyable moment of levity in yesterday’s episode when she made a literary reference to her youthful paramour, and it obviously went right over his pretty little head…did you catch the stunned, eyes glazed-over look of her “Aha moment” as she realized what an intellectual lightweight her lunk of a hunk was? “Read a book!” she commanded as her clueless toyboy trotted off to contemplate the joys of the multi-jet showerheads!!!! Too funny…..
It was a great week for GH! SO fun to watch with so many revelations. I am glad they were quick to come out and not dragged on anymore. I love the chemistry with Nicholas and Britt. I can’t wait for Robin to see Patrick but I think when Patrick sees Robin- it will be a tear jerker!!! Patrick is so in love with her and I was teary when he removed his wedding ring and then when Sam showed that hers was still on….If we could just bring JASON back!!!! I am so looking forward to the next few days and weeks! And… what will happen to Maxie and Spinelli’s baby?? That was good too this week. I do hope Robert and Anna save Robin or maybe Luke and Tracy…
GREAT!!
Just have to ask: Has anybody else ever felt that their opinions are accepted/rejected at this website not upon the basis of what is said, but about whom? It seems that Mr. (Ms.?) Moderator is particularly protective of a certain “Senorita” when it comes to the critical comments….for example, over these last few weeks, I have (at least) twice written in high praise of Sam and Patrick’s skillful and soulful scenes together, while sharply contrasting their palpable chemistry with Drake Jr.’s lack of the same with the insipid “Sapbrina.” I have also further expounded upon the “babysitter’s” obviously poor acting presentation and character development, as well as her disastrous rewritten history/screentime with another waste of space, the talentless and charmless “Car-LOS!” None of my earnestly submitted critiques featured either vulgarity or profanity (although I wish I could say the same for some of the revolting responses I have personally received…..) yet for some mysterious reason, my views were not posted, and this has also happened before in the more distant past….usually (but NOT always) regarding the same subject. All raised perfectly reasonable and valid points based upon simple observation, and were written with great care, so one would think it only a matter of common courtesy to feature such posts when the time and effort to compose them was undertaken. Merely a thought….anyone??????
Very well said Michael…I appreciate all of the soap news you bring us!! I am sure that most people who visit Michael Fairman Soaps would agree with you on this subject. There is no reason or place for nasty, insulting comments when discussing soaps!! We come here to enjoy hearing about the latest soap buz and I for one love this site!! Thanks and keep up the great work!! 🙂
Well stated, Mr. Fairman. The mean-spirited, cruel, narrow-mined and oftentimes racist comments of some users has put me off many other soap blogs.
Mr. Fairman…Thank you for taking the time to address my comments….your “hands-on” treatment of this website bespeaks well of your commitment to the soap world and your many fans/posters here online, and it is most appreciated! That being said, for the record, I have never intentionally set out to be “nasty” (not my word…) when I submitted my views for your perusal…brutally honest, deeply passionate, highly observant and extremely descriptive, yes, but not purposely mean-spirited. I only began posting due to my utter and absolute frustration when GH “crossed the Rubicon” into what I considered an extremely lame and juvenile storyline that took on a life of its own, and for many of us, served to ruin what’s become a treasured daily tradition. Had I been the only one to feel that way, I probably would have just ignored this major annoyance, as most of us usually do when we don’t enjoy various aspects of a show. However, as time passed and my irritation grew, it became quite apparent that I was with the majority of viewers, based upon my readings here and at other soap forums. Hence, I decided to become vocal myself at your website in the hopes that my detailed declarations would in some small way help to call attention to the displeasing direction of certain Port Charles plotlines…..and overall, it has been a generally delightful experience debating and discussing these specifics with your cast of regulars! Most definitely, I have suffered my own share of slings and arrows as a result of my avid and enthusiastic participation, but I’m a big girl, I can deal….I happen to think (valid) criticism makes one grow and expand for the better!!!! So in that vein, I persisted with my own particular pet peeves….to any individuals who were offended by my pointed perceptions, please extend my sincere regrets. They were not meant to cause undue distress. On the other hand, I am glad to know that there are people within the industry who do read our opinions, because at least all the venting is for not for naught…nor is the immense admiration and lavish praise I also offer when warranted, as I believe in dishing out the good and bad in equal proportions! Lastly, I have always kept in mind that what we are reviewing here is simply fantasy…it’s not real life, and so I really have not taken it all that seriously! For me, it was just a bit of fun, a creative outlet. Apparently the same cannot be said for all the parties involved, so again, if umbrage was taken to any comments thought derisive, then I do apologize. That being said, I look forward to continuing with my thought-provoking postings, although I will TRY to be on my best behavior when editorializing in the future. Thanks again!!!! P.S. These thoughts were really meant solely for you (and yours!) so if you choose not to publish them, I’m very cool with THAT decision!!!!! LOL…. ; )
I’d just like to stick my nose is and say two things, if I may:
1) Shay, I have not seen you post much on this site (though to be fair I don’t read every comment in every article posted :)), but just going off these two posts above, I just have to say that I have such admiration for the way you write. When I read your beautiful words, I was hearing them in my best British accent (I don’t know why…I am Canadian). You clearly must have a deep love and appreciation for the English language because your word choices and sentence structures are just so elegant. I’ll be sure to stop and pay attention next time I see your name in other places.
2) Michael, I too appreciate your clarification and I understand what you are saying. To add to the point though, is it possible however to moderate in such a way that does not just protect the actors, but posters as well? As Shay mentioned, sometimes replies I’ve received (and seen to others) have been hurtful, shameful and in my opinion, entirely unacceptable in any forum. Without infringing on a poster’s right to voice their thoughts and share their perspectives, is there a way to just keep the “hate” at bay, so that posters don’t suffer as well? Maybe this isn’t the place to ask this, or maybe this is given the conversation. But it’s just my suggestion after reading the above, and relating to my own experiences here. Thanks.
Jules…Thank you for your very kind words….although I am definitely a “Yank” by birth, I do believe my obvious reverence for the English language can be attributed to the fact I am an ardent Anglophile fueled by a steady stream of PBS Britcoms and dramas, not to mention a daily diet of online UK publications! These fonts of proper language definitely serve to keep the skills sharp despite everyday exposure to texts, tweets, emails, MMS and all other sources of “slang that is slung” at us on a regular basis!!! So there’s my secret to staying on the straight and narrow when it comes to writing, which you have recognized that I do so love! That being said, I tend to post only for GH and a few other programs, such as “Revenge” and “Downton Abbey,” (of course!) hence, that may explain why you have not previously seen more of my comments. (Believe it or not, I do try to limit myself when it comes to opining!) However, you are absolutely “spot-on” when you refer to the shameless nature of some of the replies that it would seem most of us have endured at one time or another….personally, I have no quarrel with disagreement if it is stated in a salient and suitable manner so as to spark spirited debate….on the contrary, I find it to be quite stimulating! But when it contains the pathetic use of profanity and/or immature, idiotic insults then I simply choose to ignore it and “consider the source.” I seem to have thus far survived the worst, but I have noticed that others like yourself have recently referred to similarly appalling abuse (the latest being the lovely lady @Fabia…..) and so I always try to lend my support when I see mention of it. What else can one say? It takes all kinds! Anyway, thank you again for your gracious compliments, and by the way, I enjoy reading your contributions, as well!!!! (Oh, and I love Canada….beautiful country!) ; )
I absolutely love all of the 80’s icons, Anna, Duke, Felicia, Holly, Robert, etc.! I love their chemistry and the history they have with one another! Fiona is amazing! Love her scenes, love how she can show pure, raw emotion in a nano-second, always so classy! Happy to see Robert!
Im all for keeping Robert around…a love triangle with Robert, Anna, and Duke…Robert wins Annas heart…Duke and Alexis can be a couple but she also has feelings for Derek/Julian!
I like the way you think, “jimh!”….Yes, Duke and Alexis are much more “age” appropriate and “demeanor” attuned than she is with D/J. I still think he and Carly would be better paired, quite explosive….especially after the Ava/Morgan thing….can you just imagine if “Mama Jax” became involved with the man and then later found out in reality he was not only her ex hubby’s avowed enemy but the brother of the cradle-robbing woman she cannot stand? Priceless!!! As for Franco, how about putting him with Liz? They both have artistic souls, and her relationship with AJ has been rocky at best! And of course, we know how much Nurse Webber loves those Quartermaine boys, not to mention “brothers” in general!!!!
Friday’s episode in particular was just amazing for long-time GH fans. So much going on, skillfully tied together and well-acted. Kudos to exec producer Frank Valentini and to head writer Ron Carlivati and his team.
Although he wasn’t on this week, Maurice Bernard seems to be a shoe-in for the Emmy!
Robin n Patrick need to reunite fast
Robert, Luke, and Anna will rescue for Robin, after Jerry Jacks will be shot and killed by Luke.
I really think this plot has gone on way too long. And after Patrick received a call fromRobin on her birthday and on their wedding anniversary seemed more unwilling to let go of her memory than eve. He even seemed to be sure it was her that called him. Now this week he has had nothing but unhindered love for Sabrina. Every time the viewers thought somebody would find Robin or Patrick would get hr call way back when Emma answered the phone we have been waiting for Robin and Patrick to reunite. And I’m surprised that Lisa is so easily undermined by Phason when she has outsmarted Robert, Anna and Duke. and Anna and Robert are supposed to be the unstoppable spies with their past and Duke has had quite the past with organized crime so surprising how easily Lisa handled them all. I’m getting tired of this plot, though the acting has been great. When is Robin going to show up, as Patrick and Sabrina are performing their wedding vows or even after that? Wy did Anna and Robert show up at Luke’s door with Jerry Jacks. I thought hey would force him to take them to the Cassadine mansion where their s]daughter is being held as he promised to do. anything to waste more time!!! I love the show and as I mentioned the acting has been phenomenal but I just want to see Robin, Patrick and emma back together as a family. BTW: did they have to pull Sean Donnelly back from the past, stroke and all. He never solved one crime when he was commissioner in Port Charles way back in the day. If the person has a pulse they’ll bring them back. Jerry, Duke, Phason etc….Actually for Gh’s 50th they brought back everyone (Scotty Baldwin, Heather) which has both its merits and drawbacks. I love Gh, I just hope Patrick and Robing connect by the next scene with either of them now that Robert found her And she knows her parents are safe; robin can finally race to be with Patrick and Emma. who knows how it will work out though as Robin said herself Patrick does love another woman now regardless of his love for her.

General Hospital’s John J. York On His Health Battle & Living Life While Waiting for Bone Marrow Transplant: “Let’s Just Go One Day At a Time”

John J. York’s positive outlook on his current medical diagnosis is quite remarkable, as his approach might be one many facing the same circumstances might consider. The beloved General Hospital vet, where he has played Mac Scorpio for 22 years, revealed last week that he is battling cancer.
The popular soap star shared that he has been fighting myelodysplastic syndromes, or MDS, and multiple smoldering myeloma: two blood and bone marrow disorders.
York spoke with PEOPLE about how he found out about his diagnosis, the support his wife Vicki has shown throughout, and how he lives life day to day, while he waits for an all-important bone marrow transplant.

The actor shared what happened the moment he learned of his diagnosis: “(The doctor) was explaining all these different things and cells and all different levels and words that had, you know, 25 letters in them. And I didn’t understand. And Vicki finally came out and said, ‘Does John have cancer?’ And he said, ‘Yes.’ And I’m sitting there, I’m really just like a fly on the wall, listening to him talk to Vicki because she was the one asking all the questions. At the end of his doctor’s conversation with Vicki, York’s one question was simple: ‘Why do I feel so good?’”
Vicki and John were in the process of moving to Tennessee to be closer to their daughter, Skyler, but considering UCLA in Los Angeles as John’s treatment center. In the end, Skyler’s husband suggested Vanderbilt University for John’s cancer center so he did not have to travel back and forth to the west coast.
Since March of this year, John has had IV chemo treatments every month, with another one coming up in September. On that, John expressed: “It is what it’s, you know what I mean? And then everybody’s gotta get their treatment. And then you go home, go about your life and you play with the kids. And here we are.”
Currently, York is waiting for a bone marrow transplant. He has been moved up the donor priority list. If anyone is interested, and you are between 18-40, you can join the registry here bethematch.org/matchformac.

York shared how Vicki is coping with what’s ahead: “Yeah, she’s scared, but believe it or not, I really kinda wasn’t because I feel great. Personally, I feel like it’s in God’s hands. God’s will be done. It’s gonna work out okay, one way or another. I’m either gonna survive or I’m not. And life goes on and things are gonna be okay for everybody… Let’s just go one day at a time.”
Share your well-wishes, and support and love to John, as he goes through the next phase of his health battle and let’s hope a bone marrow transplant donor is found for him soon. After all, we all want to see Mac Scorpio return to Port Charles, but more importantly, we all want John to feel better and beat this.Comment below.

Billy Miller’s Mother Issues Statement On His Passing

Patricia Miller, the mother of the late Billy Miller, has come forward and issued a touching statement on the tragic death of her beloved son at age 43. The statement was shared by Billy’s longtime manager, Marnie Sparer, via social media.
Billy was best-known for his performances as Richie Nowack on All My Children, Billy Abbott of The Young and the Restless and Jason Morgan/Drew Cain on General Hospital, as well as countless primetime roles. Throughout his career, Miller took home three Daytime Emmys for his work.
“I would like to share the following thoughts,” Patricia began. “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ – Billy Miller.”

Photo: JPI
Patricia continued with these sentiments, as she wanted to clear up any misinterpretations on this death: “He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”
The soap world as well as Billy’s family, friends, loved ones, and colleagues are in deep mourning for this talented man, who was gone too soon.

Billy Miller Remembered by His GH and Y&R Co-Stars As They Share Grief on His Passing

UPDATED: On Sunday, longtime friends and co-stars of actor Billy Miller took to social media to share their remembrances and sorrow on the passing of the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning star.
Miller passed away on Friday, September 15th as first reported and confirmed by Michael Fairman TV. While the official cause of death has not been revealed, it has been related to the press by his management that Billy was suffering from manic depression.
Billy played Jason Morgan/Drew Cain on General Hospital from 2014-2019, and prior to that won 3 Daytime Emmys for his role as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless from 2008-2014. He started his soap career on All My Children in the role of Richie Novack back in 2007-2008.
Below are just some of the tributes pouring in for Billy:
Eric Braeden: “We lost BILLY MILLER! It saddens me deeply! He was a very gifted actor! Amelia(Victoria) and I took him to dinner one evening while he was in tough negotiations, and I remember telling him to reconsider, because rarely is an actor given a part that describes him almost perfectly, and to not make the mistake I had seen some actors make over my 60’years in the business, that they are indispensable! Once an actor thinks that or is told that by some sycophants, they step onto a slippery road…usually to oblivion! “BILLY BOY” was not only a damn good actor but a nice man! May he rest in peace and meet up with KRISTOFF in the BEYOND, ‘the undiscovered country from whose bourn no Traveller returns “ and tell each other jokes! They were both loved by their colleagues!”

Melissa Claire Egan: “My beautiful friend. I love you. I’m so sad. And I’m so sorry.”

Daniel Goddard: “The world is going to be just that little bit more dull without you in it… you had that “it” factor that lit up every room you were in. Rest In Peace Mate ”

He didn’t blink when I asked him to put on this shirt to help raise up the marginalized artists in our industry. He always seemed to have his heart in the right place and I always laughed when I was around him. #FlightOfAngels. #RIP #BillyMiller #bereft”
Frank Valentini: “I am devastated to hear news of the incredibly talented Billy Miller’s passing. On behalf of the entire (General Hospital) family, our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Elizabeth Hendrickson: “Today I should have been sending you a Happy Birthday text BJ. Truth be told i hated calling you BJ but that’s what your closest friends /family called you. I eventually caved. The last couple years we kept in touch through birthdays and monumental moments or when we wanted to vent about “ work”. You gave me a lot of advise. When i understood it always mumbling your words. We always joked about that.
We didn’t text or talk often. But I’m glad the last couple times we did, we had a great banter like we used to. I knew that we always held a special place in each others hearts, no matter what. You were such an amazing friend to your inner circle. They were your family. You would do ANYTHING for them. That’s who really were. As loyal as they came. I’m sad and yes, mad at myself that I wasn’t being a better friend, checking in more often because I was thinking of you recently. I was. I hope you know that we are all here now texting each other, sending pictures and sharing memories of how fucking AWESOME you were. This hole in my heart will never be filled. Goodnight, sweet Billy.”
Scott Clifton: “This is not fair. We deserved so much more of him. Rest in peace, Billy. You’re immortal now.”

Photo: JPI
Coby Ryan McLaughlin (ex-Shiloh, GH): “Man… this sucks. Billy and I played on GH together for nearly a year. He was intense, focused, cool and kind. He knew the hamster wheel that I was about to start spinning on all too well, and always made himself available to help the new guy….. Rest easy, man…
Michael Muhney (ex-Adam, Y&R): “Billy, My fellow Texas brother. You lit up every room with your smile. Your quiet intensity onscreen was second only to your gentle kindness and genuine care in private. We recently shared work on an Apple series, and your encouragements during and after that process, and your kindness over the years are now but a few of the things I’ll hold on to as warm memories of you. What a big heart you had. You were bigger and braver and bolder than this life. You were legend. There is no landing to this final cliffhanger, the wings you’ve spent your lifetime earning have carried you up to that wonderful place in the sky. Happy Birthday Billy Miller.”
The Young and the Restless: “The daytime community mourns the loss of Billy Miller who graced Y&R with his talent for many years as Billy Abbott. Our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.”
Kathleen Gati: “I am beyond sad to hear this tragic news.#BillyMiller was always so kind, professional and a wonderfully talented colleague @GeneralHospital Deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.”
TK Weaver: “Devastated. Hard to find words. You always gave me such good advice. You were always there for me. You were an amazing person. #BillyMiller I’ll never forget you. Please join me in praying for his family and loved ones.”
Greg Rikaart: Generous, passionate, fun, soulful and brilliant Billy. Can you just imagine the reunion between him and Jeanne? I can. Rest well, dear Billy
Sean Kanan: “Shocked and saddened to hear that Billy Miller is no longer with us. He was a terrific actor and always kind when we would see each other. I pray that his family and friends find comfort and peace during this unimaginably difficult time. #BillyMiller #YR”
