Great news no matter which soap we watch…the 4 remaining soaps are here to stay, and hopefully all three networks realize there is an audience for them!!!

Have you considered writing for DAYS? I was not joking before. You can be
a soap writer!

“Hello?”

Never stop the poetic comments. I always look forward to them!

Patrick is awesome. I love his enthusiasm for DAYS….and really soaps in general. And he always gives such positive, affirming feedback.

Y&R is just not that good to be #1 for decades, some years were terrible.
There has to be something rigged with its ratings for it be near 5 million.
Y&R can no way be #1 for decades, it is not probable; the soap is simply not that good.
CBS airs their soaps internationally in 32 countries and some how that must have an effect of their numbers.

GH airing in USA and Canada is an excellent soap and the best soap, by far..
((I am a fan of both Y&R and GH and watch both..

Have you sampled DAYS?

Its always good news – when soaps gain audience!

Awesome… Here are my ratings:

1. DAYS(tied)
1. GH (tied)
3. B&B
4. Y&R

I agree!!!

sounds right

gh is the best and so is days

I’m happy for GH and the fans! I love DOOL, but I’m not a fool.
I know GH is cool, but HOT also!!!

“General Hospital” has literally been on fire here lately. I have been watching this show since 1992 and I honestly think it is on par with the excellent stories “GH” was showcasing around 1994 and 1995. Yes, THAT good.

“Days of Our Lives” on the other hand. Quit that show way back in 1987 when it started becoming the soap opera version of “The Jerry Springer Show.” Never looked back.

DAYS has gone through many facelifts over the past 26 years. Give it a fair shot today before you knock it. You might be pleasantly surprised. Personally, I think the stories over the past year have been the strongest they’ve been in many, many years. Overall, this show has been so entertaining, so satisfying, so engaging and exciting over the year, with great umbrella stories that have interesting layers, reach fantastic climaxes, spawn other great stories, involve many characters and give the actors juicy material to play with.

If you love good soap, then what it was like when Reagan was president shouldn’t have any bearing on what it is like today. I’m only one person and it’s only my opinion, but I couldn’t be prouder of the soap it’s producing these days.

You listen to Jules!!!

Days is great, I love it lately.

Days of Our Lives is great and stronger than ever (largely in part) because of WILSON and the Producers know that – that’s why they want to make sure that the role of Will
continues to go on after the upcoming New Year.

I hope you’re a fan of DAYS as a whole.

Without Wilson there is no DAYS and I am certain a deliberate move in that direction is coming soon or DAYS is done in general.Check next ratings without Chandler.

You do NOT know what you are talking about! DAYS has never been all about one thing. Many people contribute to the successes and failures
of DOOL. Chandler/Will does not make or break DAYS. No one does!!!

Glad ratings are up. Just keep getting tired of only hearing about the key demo. Remember it’s all the rest of us that aren’t in the demo that have helped keeps soaps afloat over the years. Show us some respect!

So happy to see the ratings increased for ALL soaps..I have a great feeling that soaps will be continuing to make a surge and hopefully the younger generation will increase and make the genre relevant again and eventually further increase the ratings where MAYBE serial dramas can expand in daytime or maybe bring iconic soaps back in television/internet, like Prospect Park is doing or did with AMC/OLTL.

I wish the ratings reflected the high entertainment value. DOOL and GH
should be way higher in the ratings! I’m not saying YawneR should go
down. The other hourlong soaps should just be obove YackeR. Maybe
next YeaR.

GH and DAYS are doing awesome. Both shows are great, and I wish their numbers were higher. It’s hard to believe that a show can stay on nowadays with only 2 to 3 million viewers, but I guess TV is saturated, and I’m not sure the rating system is accurate anyway. Y&R was my favorite all the way up until the late 00’s, early 10’s, but it has been systematically destroyed by the axis of awful show runners: LML, MAB, JFP. Maybe Y&R should hire their next show runner with only one first name and one last name, like Jared ********. LOL. Y&R DESERVED to be number one from the 80’s until about 2006. It WAS the best soap. Now, DAYS and GH deserve the accolades, and more people should watch. I took in B&B today, just for background noise. I can see the appeal, but the show is beyond trash, and maybe that’s the purpose, “pedigreed” people behaving badly. I know Hope is not a very old character, as Deacon wasn’t on THAT long ago, but the adult version is quite the stunning beauty. Watching her walk that runway in all her beauty and glory had my chin on the floor. I guess that’s why it’s called “The Bold and the Beautiful.

I thought B&B was some kind of soap parody. ONE BIG JOKE. People
should run their hands through the sands!

Great news. As soapfans lets celebrate that we still have four sucessful soaps left on daytime. Congratulations.

Lifetime’s ‘Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas’ Brings Epic Food Fight and “Slapfest Coup de Grâce”

Get ready for the feuding soap opera divas, when five actresses known for their signature primetime and daytime roles are brought together in Lifetime’s new holiday film, Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas.

Saturday night, December 2nd on Lifetime (8pm ET/7PM CT) marks the highly-anticipated holiday movie premiere featuring: Donna Mills (ex-Knots Landing), Nicolette Sheridan (ex-Knots Landing), Morgan Fairchild (ex-Falcon Crest et al), Linda Gray (ex-Dallas) and Loni Anderson (ex-WKRP in Cincinnati).

Here’s what we do know! In story, five alums from the long-running soap, The Great Lakes reunite for a live Christmas finale. Uh-oh!  Now take a look at the backstory of the colorful cast of characters (pay special attention to the clever twists on the actresses names!)

LAUREN EWING (Linda Gray) “Everyone thinks I’m so damn good all the time,” confesses the junk food-loving Lauren of her second act as a lifestyle guru. “I don’t know how Gwenyth Paltrow does it!”

DANA CUNNINGHAM (Donna Mills) Now a sitcom mom, she’s yet to make amends to ex-bestie Juliette after abruptly leaving the soap back in the day. Not that she hasn’t tried: “When I thought the world was going to end in Y2K,” Dana says, “I reached out to her, and she never called me back.”

LILY MARLOWE (Loni Anderson) After replacing Dana on ‘Great Lakes’, Lily never again found a role to win her acclaim. “What do I have to show for (my career)? An arc on  For the People – Shonda Rhimes’ only flop!”

JULIETTE MATHESON (Nicollette Sheridan) “She left me for L.A.,” the party girl turned fashion mogul recalls of Dana’s betrayal. Will their feud derail the entire event?

MARGEAUX ROBERTS (Morgan Fairchild) “Fasten your face-lifts, ladies, it’s gonna be a bumpy weekend!” The sassy grande dame of ‘Great Lakes’ sees the Juliette-Dana beef as the perfect escape from her own domestic drama.

Now, making this all the more hysterical is the director of The Great Lakes reunion special, which makes the five women live under the same roof, is its former child star Alex, who has gotten his ex-girlfriend, Nell to direct the finale. Meanwhile, in the subplot. the ‘Ladies of the ’80s’ come up with a plan to get Alex and Nell back together.

As with any good soap opera, there is a major food fight. Linda Gray shared with USA Today ,”The food fight was one take. And it was fabulous.” And of course, their is a bitch-fest slap-fest. Morgan Fairchild revealed, “Oh honey, we all got ours in. Mine was a simple, ‘How dare you?’ with a slap. But I was hoping for a punch.”

Photo: Lauren Dukoff/Lifetime

The movie’s EP, Larry Thompson, who is a Hollywood manager and has Donna Mills as a client, said that the entire scene peaks with the”slapfest coup de grâce.” What is that exactly? That is when Donna Mills pushes Nicollette Sheridan into a pool in a nod to Dynasty’s Lily bond battle between Dynasty’s Alexis (Joan Collins) and Krystle (Linda Evans).

In case you missed it previously, check out the trailer for Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas below, also starring Patrika Darbo, Alec Mapa, Mills real-life daughter, Chloe Mills, and Christopher Atkins with theme song by Tiffany.

Now let us know, will you be tuning in to the movie for a premise that should delight many a longtime soap fan? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
