GENERAL HOSPITAL: Rory Gets Hooked, Ava’s Stunned by Nikolas’ Latest ‘Bombshell’

Courtesy/ABC

Thursday’s episode of General Hospital featured great performances by Maura West and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. Meanwhile, we finally got some ‘hook’ action and things don’t look so good for Officer Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse) when all was said and done.

In story, Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is concerned that Rory’s shift at the PCPD had ended, but he was nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Rory, who is at the apartment in the ‘hook’ file, fires his gun when just then the hook strikes! Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) rushes on to the scene and finds one man down from a gunshot wound, and then Rory, who stumbles out of the other room and says, it was “the hook”.

Rory is severely injured and bleeding out, and Dante and the officers with him decide not to wait for the paramedics and take Rory to the hospital themselves.

Meanwhile, Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) shows up at Ava’s (Maura West) gallery and is about to enact his plan.  He hands Ava divorce papers. Ava thinks Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) is behind this.  A confused Ava thought they were moving past their troubles and doesn’t understand what is motivating Nikolas to do this to them. Nikolas tells Ava’s he’s been unfaithful to her, yet again, and this time with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst).  But there’s more he says, Liz is pregnant with his child.  Now we all know months from now, Liz and Nikolas’ plan will blow up in their faces  … or will it sooner than that?

Ava is shattered and begins questioning Nikolas, what he got from Elizabeth that he couldn’t get from her … a child? He says the sex was an accident, but he won’t be responsible for failing another child of his, so he wants her to sign the divorce papers.  An angry Ava throws a letter opener at the legal papers.  As he leaves, Nikolas swears he never meant to hurt Ava. Honestly, is Nikolas become the biggest doofus in Port Charles?

Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) who has just punched Dex (Evan Hofer), exits Kelly’s Diner and runs into Trina (Tabyana Ali).  The two sit and talk. Spencer explains he was just standing up for his friends with that punch, and then informs Trina he is leaving Port Charles. He goes to say there is nothing keeping him in town as he has made so many mistakes here.  Just as ‘Sprina’ seems to be beginning to work through some feelings, Curtis (Donnell Turner) shows up with the news that Rory is in critical condition at GH.

Finn (Michael Easton), Portia (Brooke Kerr) and Elizabeth work to save Rory’s life, injecting him with the anti-venom to help him from the ‘hook’ poison.  When Spencer, Josslyn (Eden McCoy), Cameron (William Lipton) and Trina all arrive at GH, Portia tells Trina that Rory has a lost a lot of blood.

An emotional Trina runs to the gurney to see Rory. He takes off his oxygen mask long enough to tell her, that he knows it was too soon to tell her how he felt about her, but he’s glad he did.  Next thing you know, he codes.

So, what did you think about Rory getting the hook? Will he be revived? What do you think of the story Nikolas and Elizabeth are spinning because of Esme supposedly pregnant with Nikolas’ child? What did you think of the performances of Maura West and Nicholas Alexander Chavez? Share your thoughts in the comment section. But first, watch a key part of the showdown between Ava and Nikolas below.

I was interrupted from listening to GH today, but could watch while on mute. After reading the summary I haven’t even bothered to see a YouTube repeat of today. What a disappointment most GH stories have turned into for me. And no amount of good acting can change that. Now for a good finale, Brooke and other wife on B&B giving Ridge his walking papers together was great. Hope the ladies can stay true to them.

I do agree with you, Rose—-the stupid, senseless intricacies of the Nikolas/Ava/Esme/ Elizabeth/Finn plot is not a mouth-watering delicacy—-Albeit, so glad to see Lizzie’s and Finn’s “interlude” end. He gets on my last nerve—
So, Rory wasn’t the hook—or was he? The hook itself was raised pretty high—a copy cat? I know it’s supposedly a woman—-could there be two “Hookers”? Ryan is still on my mind!!
Oh, one more thing—Trina’s emotional state was so forced—-and her crying was not a pretty or convincing sight. Just sayin’.

Hi Celia…You’ve always been suspicious of Rory. There is something about him that seemed too perfect. I’m not sure he was the “ hooker,” but why did he stumble out of the back room when Dante broke down the door? Did the police ever check the back room for anyone else? Was the guy Rory shot the “hooker? I don’t remember anyone finding the hook on the floor. ”I just can’t see it being a woman. It would take a lot of strength. On the other had there was always the poison on the hook to finish the job. Holly knew how to get drugs, but she’s not the “hooker.” The only one I can think of would be Esme’s former nanny. But she hasn’t appeared as a character.
Trina’s not always very convincing. And she shouldn’t have rushed to talk to him when she was told not to. Who knows, she may have hastened his dying by doing so. One other thing that bothers me is why GH characters chose to walk down the pier when the “hooker” hasn’t been caught. And at night sometimes.

To be honest, Rose—I’m not even sure the writers have a “hook” in mind—they’re probably gathering ideas from our comments, LOL.
I wonder what possessed Rory to look into the file Jordan handed him. Whatever was in it compelled him to go to “that” apartment. I’m somewhat confused by that—
Would it be too out-of-reach to think that because Rory was the hook, he wanted to see who the copy cat was? One way or another, at the risk of upsetting those who liked him, Rory did not strike me as sincere. As you said, he was just too sweetly perfect—his quiet demeanor and indulgence actually gave me pause—and the creeps.
I like the idea of the nanny, whom you mention. We haven’t met her, yet—but, that’s OK—it adds to the mystery. It could also be Heather, but she’s tall—the hook is supposedly petit(e), like Rory. And, the earring is a clue of sorts. Did he pull it off the “hook” or was it his when he went “hooking”(LOL), and forgot it in his pocket? I am most likely so wrong about Rory—we shall see…
Why was he killed off, I wonder? I hope it’s not to open the door for Spenser!! Please, no, no no!! He and Trina do not a spicy couple make. She is so bland—I wish original Trina were still around. She just had it all !!—Also, Rose– Dex and Joss? Ewwww—did you take a look at his hands? My thirteen-year-old has bigger hands. It’ll be a really mismatched union made in Purgatory–hands reaching, waiting to get out.
Now, Carly—all this hate towards Nina—Carly tops any and all evil. She’s “gonna” get hers from all sides!!

Elizabeth saying she.is pregnant is a true head-scratcher! She is trying to protect Esme? For what????!!! She and Doofus ruin the lives of the two people they supposedly love!

I’ve never been sweet, nice Liz fan. She is sure being featured now from revelations about her parents, Finn, and now getting involved with Nikolas and Esme that can effect even her boyzs. She is always getting herself into trouble since day one. And get over herself re her dad and mom.

rose,
No fan here either and right now she’s acting dumber than I’ve ever seen her and all for what? Seriously, someone explain it to me!

Lew S,
My question exactly. Why is she protecting both of these people. It’s just prolonging the agony, especially telling and letting the dummy tell Ava such a stupid lie.

Yeah I don’t get that either. I missed something, when did Liz tell nick her pregnancy story? For the record I liked Finn and Liz in the beginning, but they have really messed them up. I did love the 2 or so episodes with Liz and her dad.
As far as the hook goes I want it to be esme, and Celia’s questions about rory were on my mind too.

Been waiting all week for a new GH thread to discuss what’s been all over soap Twitter – the yet-to-be confirmed rumor that Marcus Coloma is out as Nikolas. While I don’t wish anyone to be out of a job, this is a move that is overdue. The character of Nikolas has been unrecognizable, and only a small part of that blame goes to the writers.

Just today, Maura West (who always brings it without chewing the scenery) made us feel Ava’s pain. Nikolas was there but didn’t make viewers feel anything one way or another. As a legacy character, Nik is someone I want to care about again. Bring in a leading man (it won’t be Tyler) and let the sparks fly!

Elsewhere, over the past month, Elizabeth has gone from the back burner to being on every day. Herbst makes the manure they throw her way much more palatable. Not sure this story is what viewers had in mind when we were clamoring for her to be featured more. At least they’ve broken up the lackluster pairing of Liz & Finn.

Rory – we hardly knew you – but hey, that’s okay. The character started out with a lot of potential but the actor got a more lucrative role and went to recurring. The writing was on the wall. He’ll be forgotten just like Dev and Dustin in a few weeks.

And Free Cam – he deserves better.

If Tyler Christopher wants to return as Nikolas, then bring him in. If not, the character can go back to Cassadine Island for a while. No more recasts, for Hell’s sake!. It’s completely realistic that Nikolas might want to disappear right about now, given all this mess with Esme, which now has Liz & Ava dragged into it, and all the fake stories about who knocked up who. So maybe he leaves town for a little bit, and when he comes back to Port Charles in a few months, he will look & act a little more like his old self. And hopefully he will find his former stepfather Luke & former brother in law Jason in the dungeon & bring them back with him.

As for Rory…. it certainly looks like he was done for at the end of today’s show…. I have to say I’m a little disappointed that he was never revealed to be an Alcazar family plant in the PCPD.

Like your suggestion about having an Alcazar connection.

Tyler returning is not up to Frank. He’d have to seriously lobby Disney corporate about the insurance risk and its related budget implications.

I could see Nikolas go away for a bit. That might ensure Lulu coming out of her 2-year coma in time for the end of February sweeps. Laura has to have one child on the canvas.

Super unhappy if Rory is off the show. I am one of the few who adores his character and prefers Trina with Rory. I had a thought that maybe Rory injured himself because he is the hook killer and it has gone awry but I don’t want Rory to be the hook killer. I have always wanted Esme to be the hook killer but now think it’s Eileen.

Maura and Nicholas both really deserve Emmy nominations and definitely a win for Chavez – it will be interesting to see if he submits in lead or supporting as he isn’t eligible for Younger Performer this year. There are other actresses who I also love for Best Actress, particularly Cynthia Watros, but Maura would be a great choice and it would make up for her being robbed twice by CBS actresses in the category in her recent nominations bids.

General Hospital is my favorite show. Not everything on the show works, they really need to move stories along and stop making every single storyline a mystery to the audience but I love the show the most of the remaining four daytime soaps.

There is still the possibility Rory is the “Hooker”, afterall, Richard. I’ve always suspected him—but, the thought faded, then it came back, then faded—it’s a vicious circle. LOL.

I’m with you, Richard. I really liked Rory, an uncommonly NICE person.. a rarity on soaps. I read somewhere that Michael has been cast on CHICAGO PD, so at least he won’t be unemployed. But I’ll miss his sweet face and kind manner.

I too like Rory, and it was nice seeing an asian character but what does GH do? they kill him off, dissappointing, for sure, and on another note I can’t stand Joslyn drooling all over big head Dex they are making her into Carly 2.0. how predictable for her to go for the “bad boy”. Cameron deserves better, they should bring Emma back to the show, isn’t she in college now? come on GH. Bring back Emma.

aria,
Joslin is certainly growing up just like her mother. She’s outgrown Cameron for quite a while now. He’s more boy than man right now and Joss sees that, I know he’ll be very hurt when he sees the light. Joss is leading him on the same way her girlfriend did with Rory.

I’m sure it didn’t help Rory the way they stood him up and dragged him out on his feet like that, they could have carried him, there was enough men.

Really disappointed that they killed off Rory ): They didn’t develop his character enough but I loved him anyway. GH has a problem with having such a large cast and yet they obsess over their worst characters (Sonny and Carly, and now Drew) instead of giving interesting storylines to so many talented performers on their canvas. Rory was interesting and had real potential. The only good news is that it looks like he wasn’t the hook killer, unless we are being led down a garden path (they didn’t actually show what happened).

I hope Michael Blake Kruse gets better roles elsewhere. He deserved so much better than what GH gave him for opportunities to shine.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties

On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.

The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.

When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Photo: ABC

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.

When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

Photo: ABC

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

Photo: ABC

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Photo: ABC

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Photo: ABC

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.

Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.

As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.

Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew.  In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.

Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

Meanwhile, on GH, Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) recently had hate-sex. Do you think its a one-time deal? Where will Drew’s story take him next under new head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte? Stay tuned.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers

Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.

In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.

Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Courtesy/ABC

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work.  Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her.  Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.

From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy.  Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Courtesy/ABC

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

The episode and these scenes featured great performances by Cynthia Watros and Maura West. You can check some of the scenes below.

Now, let us know, what is Ava’s next move? Is she going to become Mrs. Sonny Corinthos? Do you like Ava and Nina as enemies? Comment below.
