THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: Taylor and Brooke High-Five to Their Freedom from Ridge

By Michael Fairman

Will 2023 finally be the year that Taylor (Krista Allen) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) move on from their ping-pong lives with Ridge?

If The Bold and the Beautiful can stay true to the cliffhanger at the end of Thursday’s episode, and not have these two women cave-in to their feelings for the guy, yet again, we could actually see the show open up the possibilities for new paths and new love interests for these popular characters. Time will only tell.

But let’s review what happened on yesterday’s B&B … when Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) returned from his self-imposed exile in order to do some soul-searching, he finds Taylor and Brooke in the office at Forrester Creations. Attempting to play nice-nice and complimenting the women for getting along, he learns that Taylor and Brooke have been talking where the two share that they see eye-to-eye on things now.

Ridge apologizes to both women by saying that he’s sorry.  However, Brooke comes back with “Are you?” as Taylor adds, “Are you really, Ridge?”

Brooke goes on to tell Ridge, “I want you to know you were the love of my life. You still are.” Taylor says “My heart and My best friend.” Next, Brooke chimes in with “My destiny.” It’s then that Taylor tells Ridge he can’t have them both. Ridge knows he can only be with one woman.  Brooke adds, “You can’t.”

Next, an emotional Taylor relives the moments in Aspen, when Ridge chased after her on the mountains as she was determined to move on from him.  When Ridge promised to keep her heart safe, she says she bought into it.  When they decide to get married, and on her wedding day, in the end he left her shattered, following the revelation that Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) made the call to CPS, not Brooke.

It is then that Brooke shares that what bothered her the most is that Ridge didn’t open up to her about why he was leaving her. “Who does that? What kind of man runs to Taylor to propose to her, all the while he’s still married to me?”, she bristles.  Taylor firmly tells Ridge: “Everything you have done is wrong!” As she cries, Brooke comforts Taylor and punctuates that with “Taylor’s right.”

Taylor and Brooke inform a shocked Ridge that they don’t need him and they have been stuck in this same cycle for decades! Taylor adds that Ridge has had it really good – he’s got two families and two women who love him.

The women declare they are better than this and they’re done fighting.  Brooke reveals that she and Taylor have made a decision: “We choose ourselves. Our dignity. Our self-respect. We’re done.”  Taylor adds, “We’re done. We are.”

As Taylor and Brooke exit, leaving Ridge kind of smirking (which was a bit odd), outside the office, Taylor and Brooke high-five each other in unity.

So, are you glad Brooke and Taylor finally stood-up for the back and forth of their relationships over decades with Ridge? Will both women truly stay romantically distanced from Ridge and move on?  Share your thoughts in the comment section, but first watch the final moments of Taylor and Brooke’s emancipation from Ridge below.

Finally! After years of Ridge running back and forth between these two women Brooke and Taylor have had enough. Took them way too long to reach this point.

This will never last. Brooke can’t live without her “destiny.”

I believe that also

Great time for these 2 characters to move on. And you can add Katie to that change. Opens up the canvas for new characters and new twists. B&B continues to be the best daytime soap.

Only took 20 years. I hope this turn of story allows the characters to grow in new directions. A reboot would be welcome, maybe with a new family on the canvass. Revive the other Forresters like Felicia? Maybe a rival brother for Bill? We don’t need Ridge.

Yess..I’ve always wanted Stephanie’s other children to come back. And having a new family of characters would be great. It would take focus off of one story and have another storyline added to the mix. My words are being relived in your post.Thank you!

As I said yesterday, great to see Brooke and Tyler compare notes about the back and forth with Ridge all of these years. They stood together to give him his walking papers. Just hope they can stay true to them as time goes on. Ridge may have been surprised, but I also think down deep he was impressed. That still doesn’t get him off though. Must admit I was a little alarmed when I saw the celebration cake. Would it end up being a repeat of the last time they got into a tossing cat-fight? Yea, it didn’t and Hope and Steffy joined in to share the cake!

rose,
What we all wanted but unrealistic.I don’t believe if these two women loved Ridge all these years as much as they claimed they couldn’t just throw their hats in the air and be all happy to the point of celebrating.
Just have to wait and see.

I’m so glad they both stood up for them self and now they can be friends instead of enemies.. can’t wait to see what is next for them.. hopefully they fine a better man for themselves instead of Ridge…

IT IS SICKENING AND SEEMS SO FAKE THE WAY BROOKE AND TAYLOR ARE ACTING

Agreed

NANNA WASHINGTON
I wouldn’t call it sickening, just kind of stupid and unrealistic.

Brooke and Taylor finally declaring they are strong women in their 60’s. LMAO. Nice shock value writing. But it won’t last. In a month they will be back with Ridge.

This peace treaty between both Brooke and Taylor was that of a treat to see. However,I have a slight problem with believing that the both of them are done and now we’re girl pals. You notice when Brooke said “We’re done” and Taylor followed up with “really we’re done”. That “really” came across to me as if Taylor needed to reassure herself that she’s “Really” done.Anyway only time will tell. The writers may want to write something creative, but is only given what the head man in charge wants.”Baby Bell”

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Marlena Looks Back at 50 Years in Salem

Published

The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.

To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).

With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE

From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run. Paul thinks he is looking at 70s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall),. Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.

Belle has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.

Next, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)

Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing the baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.

JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL

Then in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!

The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunion of love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE

When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills him Paul in on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena overhears and says promise her if things get dangerous you will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.

As the episode comes to a conclusion its just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives and that is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.

End card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena and we fade to black.

So, what did you think of Marlena’s walk down memory lane? Were you happy to see the flashback clips utilized throughout? Were you touched by the scenes and the performance of Deidre Hall? Let us know what you thought of Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary episode via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sidwell Surfaces; A Twist in Britt’s Condition

Published

By

On the Thursday, June 18 episode of General Hospital, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) makes his shocking return right in Port Charles, after fleeing (thanks to Cassius) to supposedly parts unknown to escape capture for trying to kill Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis).

How does he show up in town? First, Ezra (Daniel Cosgrove) gets a text from Jacinda (Paige Herschell) to meet in his hotel room. Ezra thinks the two are going to have a sexcapade so he puts champagne on ice for his favorite escort.

Suddenly, there is a knock at the door. Ezra’s excitement turns towards fear as instead of Jacinda, Sidwell is standing in front of him. Next, Sidwell blackmails Boyle telling him he has plenty of leverage he can use against him. Sidwell wants to use Ezra to help him takedown, Sonny (Maurice Benard), Lucas, Laura (Genie Francis) and Cullum.

ARE SIDWELL’S DAYS NUMBERED?

Meanwhile, Sonny confides in his brother, Ric (Rick Hearst). He says he knows who killed Marco an he is going to use that intel to lure Sidwell out of hiding.  Sonny also shares he is going to kill Sidwell, and handle this by himself. He gave the PCPD a chance, but they failed to nab Sidwell for good and lock him up.

Sonny also has been tracking the whereabouts of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Rocco (Finn Carr) through Brick, and learned they took a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and then boarded a fairy to take them somewhere off the island.

BRITT’S ‘SYMPTOMS’ RETURN

Turns out, Britt and Rocco are hiding out in the British Virgin Islands. Britt set up Rocco with a burner phone and a VPN on her tablet, that is not traceable. Rocco reads on the tablet about Lucas’ shooting. Britt starts to have the shakes and passes out. When she comes to, Britt won’t let Rocco call a doctor, but he uses his phone to step on the balcony and call Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and ask for help. Charlotte looks shocked to hear from her brother as Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) looks on!

However, Joe (Jonathan Bennett) could be the one to put two and two together! While at General Hospital and after questioning Lucas about a syringe he found that was in someone’s possession. the toxicology report showed traces of saline solution, not actual medication. He asks Dr. Jones, why someone would inject themselves with saline? Lucas responds saline is harmless and would have no effect on someone.

So, does this mean that this entire time, Britt has been led to believe that the medication she was taking to treat her Huntington’s disease was placebo? Has Britt been lied to into believing she is dying? Is something else wrong with her instead?

Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below, and if you are ready for Sidwell to finally get his comeuppance from Sonny! But first, watch the scenes where Sidwell comes out of hiding and blackmails Ezra Boyle.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Dante and ‘Nathan’ Have It Out, Valentin and Carly Share Passionate Moments Which May Be Their Last

Published

on

By

On the June 16 episode of General Hospital, the PCPD under acting police commissioner Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) is in a bit of mess and does not go unnoticed by ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor).

First, there is the whole Chase (Josh Swickard) defending Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) over Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), who he arrested for allegedly tossing Willow in the waters next to the Quartermaine boathouse. Turner has had it with Chase’s good guy act and how he tampered with evidence in her case against Willow for shooting Drew.

Later, Dante and Justine question “Nathan” (Ryan Paevey) about Sidwell’s escape while in his custody. Turner is not buying his cover story that he was ambushed by Sidwell and his men. Once “Nathan” left the interrogation room, Turner went in on Dante about having “Nathan” on the force after seven years away, and Chase she views as a “dirty cop.”

However, Dante defends both of his officers, but Justine warned that “Nathan” and Chase’s behavior would reflect poorly on Dante as commissioner and she should really think about that. Later, Dante has a terse confrontation with “Nathan” on how he botched a prison transport and that he better watch his back as Justine is one step away from turning this over to Internal Affairs.

COP MADNESS

Next, “Nathan” apologizes for the way he handled the situation with Rocco and says he feels badly. But then in the twist, Dante said that he was grateful that “Nathan” had been there for his son in his time of need (referencing after Rocco shot Cullum and covered it up).

Then, there’s the newest police officer in the precinct, Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett). He may actually be on to “Nathan’s” double life when he questions him about a syringe found in Britt’s room at Bobbie’s. “Nathan” made up a story to counter Joe’s, that he was not aware that his sister was taking anything for her Huntington’s disease diagnosis. Joe called the forensic department lab wanting to know what drug was exactly in the syringe.

BEFORE YOU GO

At Carly’s (Laura Wright), Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) tells her that he must travel to Geneva to speak to the head of the WSB, named Z. Valentin feels it’s the only way to save Josslyn if he informs Z about Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) being a double agent. Valentin shares with Carly that he has to stop Cullum from bringing his dangerous cold fusion device online. Carly is beside herself. She doesn’t want Valentin to sacrifice himself by turning himself into the organization who has made him a fugitive in the first place. Valentin stands firm that he must meet Z in person.

Knowing that revealing himself to the WSB meant he was likely going back to prison, Valentin asked Carly if she’d get in touch with his daughter, Charlotte so he could say good-bye to her. Next, Carly and Valentin make their way to the bedroom to make love, which may be for the very last time, if Valentin is caught and put back in Steinmauer Maximum Security Prison.

CAUGHT BY CULLUM

At the same time while at Wydemere, Cullum is talking with one of his WSB operatives. Now, he is pondering if Valentin and Sidwell were working together all along.  Next, Cullum entertains the idea of involving the FBI to locate Britt and Rocco. He says he plans to kill them both once he knows of their whereabouts. Cullum sees the only other threat to the completion of the cold fusion project to be Anna Devane.

Cullum wants to track the location of the unidentified person who called the private clinic in France trying to get in touch with Anna, while pretending to be Kevin Collins. When the agent came back with a report, he says it emanated from a cell tower near Shoreline Road. It’s in the that moment that a light bulb goes on for Cullum! Valentin is in Port Charles and hiding at Carly’s!

So, what do you think of the PCPD cops, Chase, Joe and “Nathan?” Who should Dante fire? Do you think Valentin will go the run?Are you digging Carly and Valentin’s relationship and want it to continue, especially with Finola Hughes on her way back as Anna next month on-screen? Weigh-in via the comment section, and in case you missed it, you can check out our latest interview with Dominic Zamprogna below from his appearance on the Michael Fairman Channel, where he talks the PCPD cops, Rocco on the run, and more.
