GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sam's Tumble Down The Stairs & Parker Arrives!

At the very end of last Friday’s cliffhanger for General Hospital, two major plot developments occurred.  First, as Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) is about to go back to school she is greeted at the door by Parker (Ashley Jones), who turns out as many fans suspected is a woman.

This sent GH fans on social media, and on messages board to ask, and some to hope, that GH is about to reveal that Kristina is a lesbian.  This would be an interesting twist, especially to see how Kristina’s parents: Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis  (Nancy Lee Grahn) would ultimately handle the news.  Will GH embark on some type of coming out story utliziing the talents of Lexi Ainsworth?  That remains to be seen.  Clearly, when Kristina had a chance to come clean to her mother that she failed her last semester, and then having some kind of apparent liaison with Professor Parker, Kristina dodged any confrontation or admission, and said she would be back for Alexis’ wedding to Julian (William deVry).  This happened prior to being stopped on her way out by Parker herself.

Elsewhere, Jason (Billy Miler), Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), and Franco (Roger Howarth) are now all on to the disturbing drawings of Jake (James Nigbor).  For Jason, the one that was most concerning was Jake’s drawing of Sam (Kelly Monaco).   While the three of them are meeting at GH to discuss Jake’s mental state, Sam has headed over to Elizabeth’s to talk to her about her conversation with Franco. But when she gets there, she finds the window shattered, Jake’s finger bleeding, and starts to put two and two together that he is the one that broke the window.  Jake runs away and downstairs, where Sam follows.  Next, Sam tumbles from the top of the staircase to the ground.  We fade to black.

So, will Sam’s fall bring Jason and her closer together?  Will Jake try to somehow kill Sam?  Did Helena (Constance Towers) do something to alter his mind while in captivativity, or is she pulling the strings from “beyond the grave”?

As for Kristina and Parker:  Do you hope it turns out that Kristina is a lesbian? Are you interested to see how the relationship plays out between the two women?  How do you think Sonny and Alexis would react to the news of Kristina being with another woman?  Does GH need to pick up the pace of their scenes and or storytelling, when often times it feels like the show is slowed way down, just before it picks back up?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Helen has mind control on Jake but thats not the real Jake- he is a clone and Helene is using him partly in her curse against Sam…maybe this is what FV plans to reveal…Jake is an evil clone of the deceased Jake and Helene is ALIVE!!!!…lol

I can see Helena coming back and dealing with Sam, if J&S have the talent to write for the great CT and give Helena her true Cassidine self back..

She has to be alive, Helena is the only person who can follow through with
that evil curse she placed on Sam’s head. Which means EVERYONE
closest to Sam will be blanketed by the same darkness… Kristina has
started to experience it, Alexis & Julian are next… Jake, Elizabeth, Jason
are all pawns on Helena’s chessboard of destruction & revenge.
Let’s not forget, Jason was there to prevent Sam from falling on two
other occasions… Third time UR out.

Yes, it takes to long to wrap up a story line. It shouldn’t take months or a year to play some ting out, that’s how you loose viewers, because it becomes boring.

J&S stories at Y&R went on forever and forever..
Their sleeper, the Music Box story went on a bit over a year and I do not believe it ever had closure..
There was a reason they were fired so everyone could wake up! LOL

Yes, but the whole Jason reveal storyline was dragged on well before J & S arrived.
I do admit feeling disappointed that they do not expedite the story and continued with the one step forward, two steps back pattern. Jason has a small memory flash and then nothing. They have put a capital A on anticlimatic and sorry, I do not find Jake acting like a psycho to be that interesting. It just seems to be another way of making Franco redeemable and relevant.
Jason has visited with Monica maybe once since realizing he is her son?
And where are Jake’s brothers? Suddenly it seems like he’s Lizzy’s only child.

I think in your first two sentences, you’ve encapsulated my disappointment with Passanante/Altman, Harry. They did inherit some problems, but I haven’t seen much real repair going on. (The Elizabeth-Jason story, as a very good example, was ill conceived, but so far they haven’t done anything to make it any better.) And they’ve introduced some problems of their own too. I’m willing to give it another six months or so, but their work so far has not been encouraging.

I find the show utterly boring. One thing Ron did was bring back some of the action and the crazy stuff from the 80s. Actors should be able to play all kinds of stories.

The soaps need younger writers to pull the soaps out of deep sleep..

Didja you know; RC was 41, the youngest writer of them all, some by decades..
He was the master of twist and turns, surprises, and high drama, GH was the most modern soap under RC and- GH had humor!!
GH was fun to watch..

RC should have had a co-writer, someone brought in to write with him, but not let go.

Though I like Ron C.’s writing pretty well, su—certainly among any of the recent crop of soap writers, he’s the one whose work I find most engaging—I’m not sure it’s because he’s younger. Nor am I sure that simply hiring younger writers will shake soaps out of their doldrums. What really needs to change is the mindset among TPTB at the network and sponsor level, who seem to micromanage and stifle creativity because they can’t get out of the way of people who actually do have some creative talent.

I like the idea of Carlivati with a cowriter who can balance out some of his shortcomings, but from what I’ve observed, he’d have to acknowledge he has some and allow his cowriter gracefully to provi

The most successful writing partnerships on the soaps through the years played to the various team members’ strengths—but to make something like that work, each members has to acknowledge that he has both strengths and weaknesses, and some of RC’s behavior in public and on Twitter seems to indicate he’s unaware that his writing can ever go awry.

Fresh writing blood would be great, but age aside they should hire someone who maps out and plots the adventure storylines. The folks who used to write all that WSB and Cassadine stuff back in the day weren’t very young.

Sam falling down the stairs was not a cliffhanger lol
We all know she isn’t deads, she’s not leaving GH..
Jake is messed up in the, he will be falsely blamed, and eventually Jason will blame Jake which will cause Jason to be highly guilt ridden when he learns it was not Jake, it was Sam and her stilt boots of 7” heels at fault.
((I do hope she will spend the next year in hospital in a silent coma and be off my screen lol)

I think we will find out that Kristina is bisexual. Love all things Sam and Jason. I don’t think nor do I want Jake to be a clone or under mind control. I would rather they deal with a mental health issue that in some ways is passed down from Elizabeth and in other ways stems from his being held captive for many years. All that coupled with a typical desire for your parents to be together.

Kristina’s story with the female professor could be interesting – depending on whether they use her history. Her abuse by Kiefer and her crushes on both Johnny and Nathan need to be addressed. I found it surprising that Sam didn’t show more concern @ her sister, who was nearly beaten to death, was offering sex to anyone. So far, there’s been no mention of her relationships, the fact that she’s a widow or her abuser

Kristina- she offered to sleep with the husband of the professor for better grades and has been found out for doing that, and offering sex for a good grade is bad, very bad..

Thinking Kristina is not gay but her failing grades gave the professor the opportunity to bribe her into something uncomfortable to pass the semester. Otherwise history has been rewritten again. Don’t like that so much. Bring back Brad and Lucas/Felix/Rosalie. Leave Kristina be for now. I know there aren’t any available men right now but how about the doctor headed in?

Well personally, I am back to LOVING every single episode of “GH” again, and those atleast two cliffhangers, to get Us to tune in Monday were magnificent!!!
I am loving the new Writing Team, and they are doing a fantastic job, given all the danglers, dropped, and ridiculous storylines that Ron C. wanted to write ONLY…
NOW WE must have Laura in her OWN frontburner storyline… Anyday with Genie is a great day, but now that She is back on long term contract, She is in some way connected to most everyone in town, as well as those living out of the country! Her Kids still do need her around of course, but Use Laura more. They could be the equivalent of the old Vikki/Dorian, only with twists along the way!!! Kudos to Nathan V. Frank V. Cast, Crew, and the new Writers for repairing the damage done by ex-Head Writer!!!

Couldn’t agree more, Buddy! It’s nice to see some positivity about GH on this comment forum. I just binge watched this past week’s GH as I usually do every weekend, and I usually judge what kind of week it was by how many times I hit the fast forward button, lol. There were times in the past where I would sometimes literally fast forward through almost an entire episode. I think I did it twice for the whole week this time. That tells me it was a good week.

No major earth shattering happenings, just some good old fashioned believable storytelling and character development, that maintained my interest from show to show, and made me look forward to seeing what happens on Monday. Some people might complain that the writing is too basic and simple, but after what Ron Carlivati did to this show, basic and simple is exactly what they needed to right the ship.

You are so right about Genie Francis. Time to give her a storyline and purpose for being in town, other than showing up to scold her kids, or someone for Elizabeth to dump her kids with when she wants to go gallivanting around town. Really enjoyed the scenes she had with Jane Elliot a few weeks ago, would love to see them come up with a story that has Laura and Tracy interacting a lot more.

GH is on fire right now.

I haven’t been so excited for GH Monday in a long time. The final two episodes of last week were just great and left us with some solid cliffhangers. I am most excited about Kristen/Parker and Sam/Jake but the interaction with Jason/Liz/Franco was also so very good. The fact that Nina is back in play with Crimson will make me care about Olivia’s situation. I can’t wait for the followup with Robert/Anna searching for Carlos/Sabrina and also taking down Paul. The little cat and mouse game with Hayden/Nikolas and Hayden/Tracy is also good soapy stuff.

Jean/Shelly are doing a good job as headwriters and the proof is in the ratings. Four weeks in a row of over three million viewers for the first time in this decade. No more weeks of seeing 2.4 to 2.6 mil in viewership (Ron’s numbers in his final 3 1/2 months) but we’ve are seeing weeks 2.8 to 3.2 mil in viewership (Jean/Shelly’s numbers in their first 3 1/2 months) so the people complaining about the show must be in the minority.

GH fans have come back since Ron was removed as headwriter and like seeing an actual drama series again instead of a cartoonish outlandish circus which it became in Ron’s last two years. Some of us like some dose of reality in the storylines which were are getting with Jean/Shelly and weren’t getting with Ron. The camp has been toned down for the better, people are finally getting jobs, and the writing has improved so much.

I don’t think Jake hurt the sitter. She was in the shower–right before Sam showed up the sitter called down to Jake saying it was taking longer to get the stuff out of her hair. Then Sam showed up–and all hell broke loose–courtesy of Sam.

I could be wrong but I think Jake is innocent in this case. He’s likely the culprit who broke the family photo.

She went upstairs to wash her hands in a “Bigger” sink! I would think most kitchen sinks are bigger than bathroom sinks but whatever! Maybe the water was running and she didnt hear? I hope Jake isnt a killer! Children kill in movies and its wrong but on or beloved soap GH, horrible!

I agree Mari…love Sam. People point out the most ridiculous things…yeah, she’s on a soap today because she was a hot model years ago. Ummmm. No. She’s on a soap because yes, she initially had a look they wanted, like every other actor on TV, film or theatre, and then got the role.

Some of us, like Mari and I and others, love this down-to-earth street smart chick. Her personality is one of the most grounded on the show. Until her character says or does something for me to feel otherwise…she’s one of my favorites.

Story lines have still been dragged out and boring. This breast feeding story is gonna be a real sleeper. Story lines still taken forever to end. A lot of wasted episodes reason why they are losing fans by the thousands.

Other than her bedroom trysts, what else does the woman have going for her? TPTB are not giving this supposed high-powered attorney her due, I say. Ha!

is kristina a lesbian? who cares? she’s young and in college nothing is written in stone. she could be experimenting, curious, or bi or bored, regardless, it doesn’t really matter, i can’t picture anyone really making a big deal about it. As for Sam, goodness grief what can i say, she continues to prove she’s not the brightest girl on the block, wearing those high heel boots she was basically a walking accident ready to happen. I mean didn’t she already twist her foot by trying to cross nickels balcony the last time?

Hey, Shay…thing is, these strips of beach are private, with fences. No stopping them. It’s mainly kids in summer. Only a small percentage is homeless. The worst invasion to the Hamptons, came from the Kardashians. What a spectacle. Many residences are rental; but never have we, the locals, seen anything like the Kardashians behave as….as…..as. Ah, well.
What I’d like to know is: where are the parents. Some of these kids are as young as twelve….out at night, into the wee hours of the morning.

I don’t know about that, Timmm. I don’t think it has much to do with the bright of her co-stars. I do think it is vanity…something of which I am guilty. My husband is a foot taller than I. I wear stilettos for myself….as most women do! We dress for ourselves or for each other. It’s a woman thing. High heels make me feel grrrreat!! Powerful and sexy!!! However, I would not go down rickety, basement stairs with them, or anywhere else that’s inappropriate. What gets me is that Sam wears them in the house; probably to the beach, too. Ha ha ha!! You would be surprised what people wear on the beach….even high heeled shoes…but I guess you know that. Anyone who has beachfront property, knows this. All kinds of weirdos show up. That’s why this beach is constantly policed in summer.
Now, I love Roger, too, Timmm. But, Todd is gone. I wish he were not, but it is what it is. I always thought that Franco was re-introduced in name only. It was always my belief that this Franco was going to be a completely different Franco, ergo, the invention of the tumor.
I do believe that Roger’s Franco, as we have come to know him, is a-changing for the better. We see a hint of maturity in his reasoning; his behavior; and, his interaction with others. I think Sam has only herself to blame for trying to go down a dark set of stairs in 8 inch stilletos.

Christina will not be a lesbian — Jean and Shelly don’t give any screen time to the gay couple already on the show. The only way I see Christine dipping her toe in the lady pond is if it is with a lesbian mobster (and unfortunately for Christina, another woman is just about the only she is going to see any romantic action since she is related to every single straight guy in town except for TJ, Dillon, Nathan, Paul, and Franco.)

The writing on the show has been abysmally one note since Ron Carlivati left. With the exception of Tracy’s once a week bid to regain control of ELQ from Nicholas and the directionless Jason/Sam/Liz mess, the only “plots” we have are Sonny the mobster related: Sonny the mobster’s paralysis; Paul’s attempts to take over Sonny the mobster’s business; Ava keeping Sonny the mobster’s baby away from him; Sonny the mobster’s son battling bi-polar disorder; Michael forgiving Sonny the mobster for murdering his real dad in cold blood but rejecting Sabrrrrina for lying about her baby’s paternity; police officer Dante being totes kewl with his father Sonny the mobster murdering a man in cold blood but divorcing his wife for conspiring with her ex to get her cousin out of the way to save her marriage; Sonny the mobster’s daughter flunking out of school; Sonny the mobster’s ex preparing to marry his enemy; Sonny the mobster’s other ex causing a kerfuffle for exposing her breast while feeding her baby son in public; and Anna’s search for the man who murdered her boyfriend (who more importantly was employed by Sonny the mobster).

They might as well change the name of the show to As The Mob Turns and be done with any notion that the hospital even exists…

The Kristina story is a snore. I don’t care if she is a lesbian or not. It matters not. They will not do anything with that story. Look at Lucas and Brad. Nothing is happening there. It is just shoved in a corner and not spoken. Frankly I wish Kristina would go back to college and get married and move to Zurich. Now as for Sam and Jake and the fall down the stairs, I am on board. I like that Sam is one of the few who can keep Elizabeth acting all bitchy and scared. Jason is whipped and needs to make a decision. He knows he belongs with Sam. It’s coming back to him. I love all the actors on the show. Even when the stories are snoozers. The Olivia story about breastfeeding in public was hilarious. I keep hoping that Mayor Lomax will get her comeuppance. It’s time for her to get slapped out of office. I think Franco is funny dealing with both Elizabeth and Jason. He uses his character flaws wisely. I love Morgan coming to terms with his issues. I am enjoying watching Ava squirm again especially with Paul. The Hayden/Nikolas story gives me a charge every time. I love her character even when she is a witch with a mission. Bring Spencer back and quickly! He is so worth screen time. I don’t know what the big announcement will be from Frank Valentini but whatever it is I am hoping that it involves a decision about General Hospital being renewed for another year or two. Fingers crossed. I love GH and am really enjoying the shows lately.

Michael, I’m a big fan, but why would your write: Will Jake try to finish off what he started and kill Sam?
He didn’t start anything. He ran into the basement because the supposed grownup in the room was accusing him of lying and essentially harassing him. He didn’t grab her, touch the stairs or anything else. He is 100% blameless, though he will feel guilty cause he’s a kid.

This is all Sam’s fault, but she won’t take responsibility. She never does.

And since we know Jake’s the Shriner’s story for Feb, I think Jason is going to be worried about his kid. I hope so anyway.

Jake is not evil, he’s traumatized. Essentially he’s got PTSD. And maybe Helena is alive. Maybe Lucky went back to the Island to investigate and Greg Vaughn will show up with some answers.

Once again I agree with you Mari. Sam was trying to help Jake. Her first inclination was to speak to Liz and Jason after thinking about what Franco told her. She then checked the window to make sure there wasn’t anyone still lurking about. When she realized Jake’s hand was cut and there was no evidence of outside danger, she reached to comfort him and told him she needed to call his parents. He ran…she went to find him…obviously out of concern…

LOL…the anti Sam group really see things through suspicious minds…

Sam knows she cannot go behind Liz’s back and ask Jake questions. However, when she is found, I trust her enough to tell the truth. I doubt she would blame Jake trying to hurt her, unless she really believes it. I do not think Sam would lie about something so big. So far, I have not seen any deception from Sam. She seems honest to me, albeit a bit full of herself.

I agree with you, Lucy. Sam has no business talking to Jake, questioning Jake, accusing Jake or even looking at Jake. As dispicable as Liz’s past actions were ( and I do not condone that), the ‘saintly’ Sam is doing exactly the same thing as Liz, in a more up-front way…..grab Jason for herself.
She should just have stuck to let things develop as they will. She kept running to Jason for every little thing, trying to turn him against Liz. Jason is now aware of all the transgressions Liz has committed…..
But, she’s Sam; the princess. I hope she remembers the sequence of events and doesn’t allow anyone to come to the wrong conclusions about Jake.

When you’re right, you’re right. Sam is using every available ploy to get Jason to distance himself from both Liz and Jake. I can understand how a child would feel threatened by another woman/man in his parents’s life. He’s a child, as disturbed as he may be. But, she’s an adult and should have known better than trying to get ingormation from him. Oh, yeah, great sleuth. Even coppers can’t question minors without the presence of a parent or guardian. She has no jurisdiction over Jake, especially after Liz made that clear. She did, didn’t she? I would be spitting fire and blowing steam out of my ears if anyone did that to my child. So, I agree. Patrick…Sam is technically Jake’s step mom AND she was warned by Franco…who was rigjt in his assessment that Jake is troubled. Dhe was also asked by Jadon to imvestigate the breakins. She wasnt harsh or threatening to.Jake, was concsrned he was bleeding and was about to call jSon and Liz when Jake ran. Given the severity of the moment zi think she wad in her petfect right.

I think Liz keeping Sam’s son Danny from knowing his dad, Jason, is alive was a lot more selfish, cruel and manipulative.

Parker is Kristina’s former teacher. Any relationship would in real life get Parker into trouble, as it should. For that reason I hope they do not follow that plot line. I expect parker reported her because otherwise if it came out that anything happened between them Parker would lose her job and if she has one at the college level or K-12, her teaching certificate/ license. I don’t know how old Parker is. Kristina is either a bisexual or she is willing to have sex with anyone to get out of trouble. I would not like her to get in any relatioship with anyone now. She needs to learn to be responsible and admit when she messed up. If K. is a lesbian or bisexual that would not be as big a deal for Sonny and Alexis as it was originally on AMC with Erika. But she is such a dishonest person, unless Parker is there to talk to her parents, they probably won’t find out til about 2 years after Jason gets back his memories- his original memories of Jason Q. I agree with Timmm that the baby sitter stinks. I am worried that no one will know Sam is in the basement until it’s a matter of life and death and that Jake may harm her even more.

I am getting more confused by the minute.
When GB first mentioned that Parker was female, I ran with my imagination. I proposed that Kristina was either a lesbian or bi. Failing school, she resorted to propositioning her professor for a passing grade, after she found out the teacher was gay. Now, this was all in my head; an assumption/supposition. I also commented, on the same post, that Kristina was expelled because of cheating on an exam or for plagiarism. It is very common in both High a School and University.
Since then, after I calmed down ( as Shay suggested I do, lol) I have amended some of my thoughts. I have proposed that the professor is male with whom Kristina had an affair. Both Parkers teach at the same College and both are Kristina’s teachers. Mrs Parker found out, but Kristina knows something about her that is very damaging and Kristina is holding over this woman’s head. Could it be that Mrs. Parker is gay but she and Kristina never had a relationship? Is it possible that Kristina is blackmailing Mrs Parker? That is, to give her a passing grade or else. Or, the same idea could be about Mr. Parker and Kristina is blackmailing him.
As I said, if a lesbian storyline is to be borne out of this, I hope TPTB with treat it with dignity and respect and not make a debacle out of it as they did with that of alum ad and Brad. I wish ‘they’ would continue with that particular storyline….
Regardless of all this what, how, when, where and why…..it is losing its mystery and my interest. As my Granda would say, ” the more you stir the caca pot, the more it stinks”. I apologize for his ‘potty’ mouth…LOL.

As much as I like nu-Jason, Sam makes him boring, too. And Lulu, seriously…the day that I would re-enter the loft that my husband cheated on me, not once, but twice, with my cousin, IN MY BED, with candles, music, etc., and beg HIM to take ME back is the day that will never happen. Pathetic. No matter how many times that bed has bee stripped clean, it will always carry the scent of another woman. Lulu, how low can you go? I would never take ‘something’ in that has been somewhere else.
Also, I would never drink beer, especially from the bottle. I know it’s the thing now, for men and women alike to drink beer; be chummy….I just can’t get used to that! A woman holding a beer is soooo…..well, not so for me. Does that make me a priss? Ah, well! Lol.
Nonetheless, I am glad and somewhat proud, that Lulu put a rein on her runaway idea that this is what it would take to put her marriage back together again. I would never want to see my husband again if he cheated. However, I tip my hat to Lulu, or any woman who tries, and has the confidence that he will never do it again. It takes a lot more than a romp in bed to aright a wrong.

Basically, I told you the part I found funny was the “melting away” imagery…..then explained my thoughts on the characters. Oh well, another one bites the dust! LOL. As for Lulu, I thought her entire approach to a reunion with Dante was pathetic….his infidelity led to the disintegration of their marriage, and whilst I can see why he was upset about Lulu enlisting Johnny for revenge, the point is it would never have been necessary if he had kept his zipper up. Why Lulu would even want this cheating creep back, I’ll never know! She humiliated herself to get that disheveled (ooh, good call….) dolt back? Oh, please! I’ve never cared for Dante, useless keystone cop, IMO. I can’t stand Lulu now, since Emme has taken over. She’s no longer strong, fearless, or fierce, IMO. As per usual, I am alone I my opinion. I was surprised and a little tingly inside to see that Parker turned out to be a woman. Also, I think the two actresses have a ton of chemistry between them! It has kind of a “Carol” feel to it. Others may not like the pairing, and that’s fine, but I am sooooooo very over Brad and Lucas. They are not an attractive couple and I throw up just a little bit in my mouth anytime they kiss or have sex. I think Lucas should’ve wound up with Felix and I think that way because….well, he should have.

Don’t know if anyone posted this idea — but does anyone else think that Kristina being a lesbian/bi may be the source which brings a truce between Sonny and Julian? With both having gay/lesbian children, maybe the two will find some common ground — with Alexis in the middle. Maybe the writers can bring some peace to all this silly mob feuding, and little by little write the mob bs out of GH altogether!

51st Annual Daytime Emmy Award Nominations: CBS Soaps Score Most, Eric Braeden, Dick Van Dyke, Guy Pearce Receive Nods

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) have officially announced on Friday, the full list of nominees for the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

While Thursday brought with it four reveals of the nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama, Talk Show Host, Lead Actor and Actress categories (as presented by various entertainment news programs), today’s nominations include all the other categories not previously announced.

The Daytime Emmy Awards telecast is set to be presented live on Friday night, June 7, at 8 PM EDT /delayed PT, on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. This will mark the 18th time that CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys.

In addition, The Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 8 at t9 PM ET/6 PM PT and streamed on The Emmys apps and at watch.TheEmmys.tv. The ceremonies will take place at the Westin Bonaventure Los Angeles.

Television icon, Dick Van Dyke has received his first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Guest Performer category for his touching portrayal of Timothy Robicheaux on Peacock’s Days of our Lives. The nomination makes Van Dyke the oldest Daytime Emmy nominee in history at 98-years-old.  In addition, motion picture and TV star, Guy Pearce, is also nominated as Guest Performer for his longtime role as Mike Young in the reboot of Neighbours.

Speaking of Neighbours, the Australian soap opera also received its first ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Daytime Drama Series now that its a revival can be streamed on Amazon Freevee. In addition, The Young and the Restless iconic, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) received his first Daytime Emmy nomination in more than 20 years in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.

In the Daytime Drama series categories, CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless each scored 12 nominations more than any other show. Leading the acting nominations was B&B, who landed 7 performers in the various categories, a first in its 37-year history.

In a statement, Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS expressed, “We are happy to once again honor the creative talent both in front of and behind the camera of America’s favorite Daytime programs. We look forward to celebrating the icons who enliven the days of audiences across the country.”

Brent Stanton, Head of Daytime, NATAS added, “Producing the Daytime Emmys is a labor of love for all of us at NATAS. The huge popularity of these shows continues to be must-see viewing for their fans.” NATAS also revealed that Lifetime Achievement Honorees, Hosts, Presenters, and Silver and Gold Circle honorees will be revealed at a later date.

The Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in television programming honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary, and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, NATAS and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime.

The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be produced once again by NATAS and Associated Television International (ATI). Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong are executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie executive produces from ATI.

51st Daytime Emmys: Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Nominations

April 18, 2024

On Thursday, the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards revealed nominations in several key categories via four entertainment news programs: Access Hollywood, E! News, Extra and Access Hollywood.

Three of the four announcements were major categories in the field of Daytime Dramas.

The nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series category are: The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Neighbours and The Young and the Restless.

General Hospital won this category last year, and has the most all-time wins for a series in this category. For the first time, the beloved Australian-based soap opera, Neighbours is now eligible for competition due to its reboot which streams on Amazon Freevee.

The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out in ceremonies in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th.

Previous categories announced tonight via the entertainment news outlet included: Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

51st Daytime Emmys: Tamara Braun, Finola Hughes, Katherine Kelly Lang, Annika Noelle, Michelle Stafford, Cynthia Watros Score Lead Actress Nominations

April 18, 2024

The nominations were revealed for the 51st annual Daytime Emmys. in the prestigious Lead Actress in a Drama Series category by Entertainment Tonight.

This comes ahead of tomorrow’s full list that is set to be unveiled at 12noon/9am PST on Friday.

In the running for this year’s Outstanding Lead Actress are Tamara Braun (Ava, Days of our Lives), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, The Bold and the Beautiful), Annika Noelle (Hope, The Bold and the Beautiful), Finola Hughes (Anna, General Hospital), Cynthia Watros (Nina, General Hospital) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young and the Restless).

Previous winners in this category include GH’s Finola Hughes, Cynthia Watros and Y&R’s Michelle Stafford.  Days of our Lives nominee had won in the Supporting Actress category twice in her career.
