GENERAL HOSPITAL: Should Anna Let Cates Take Valentin Away For His Crimes and Free Jason?
GH fans knew it was almost too good to be true! On Monday’s episode of the ABC daytime drama series, Anna got caught up in her feels after out of nowhere, Charlotte (Scarlett Fernanndez) apologizes for all the horrible things she did to her, and also accepts Anna’s (Finola Hughes) forgiveness for shooting her.
Charlotte tells Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Anna that she is so happy to see them together and it;s good for her father, so it’s OK by her. At this point, Anna has just gotten her hands on the file she needed to prove Valentin was in charge of Pikeman in order to also free Jason from under the thumb of Agent John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington).
As Anna leaves to go look at the encrypted files, she is in tears. She opens a computer and finds the ammo against Valentin. When confronted by Jason (Steve Burton), after she confirms all the very incriminating evidence is , she says she can’t give it to him, not yet.

Now on the preview for today’s Tuesday, July 16th episode, Anna tells Jason, “I can’t let Cates take Valentin away.” Jason is upset and wants his two and a half year nightmare to come to an end.
What should Anna do? Should she turn in the evidence on Valentin? Will she and Jason work together to pin this on someone else in order to free Jason and protect Valentin? Will thPikeman story ever end?
Check out the video preview below.
Now, weigh in, what should Anna do? Do you want Valentin free so “Vanna” can continue to rebuild their relationship? Comment below.
I’d rather see Nu-Jagger gone. Valentin has lots to offer. I would like to see Charlotte more. Not certain of their age difference but I could see her and Gio working together.
Pairing Gio with Trina doesn’t work for me… it could have if he would have been the recast for Spencer, but pairing him with Trina as a reminder of Spencer is boring.
I just love Gio, he’s so sweet to everyone, the “grownups” as well as the younger ones. I love his interaction with Dex, they are so easy with each other. Most of all, it was great seeing him with Tracy, she really outdid herself, knowing just how to draw everything out of him, her sitting there in her long nightgown, hair down and he sitting there enjoying his Sub- sandwich, after assuring her that he didn’t make a mess.
This is a no-brainer. YES, Anna should hand over what she has to John. But this is a soap opera set around mobsters so I guess if Anna doesn’t go by the law, we shouldn’t be surprised.
I think it’s not what it all appears to be. I’m enjoying it so far. The thing is of she obtained the evidence by stealing it with no search warrant how is it admissible at all? Don’t think Cates can use that as an informant because that would mean Jason has to lie and say he stole it? Way to write yourself into a corner GH. Just make Val an undercover WSB trying to wash out the real head of pikeman from the inside already.
I’m not quite sure I trust this Cates guy, he’s got too many irons in the fire, Ava being the worst, she’s like a rattle snake, hope they get each other!v
What is Anna up to? Jason sure looked pissed, color me intrigued and it was nice to see Charlotte apologize for acting all cray cray. Oh and by the way they better not be sending Jake off for good, now if they are sending him off to jump start Lucky’s return in Europe then I’m in but do not get rid of Jake. Question, why is Jason giving Jake money? Didn’t Jake get inheritance in a trust when Jason was playing dead for the 100th time? at this point with Jason being the inconsistent parent, he should of had a provision with his so called high price lawyer Diane that if any and I mean anything happens to him Jake should financially be taken care of with Liz being allowed to access his trust, I mean where’s grandma Monica too can she slip her grandson a few thousand dollar bills here and there?
Nope. Love JPS. Send Cates off
I love him too. No one can play our complex boy Val like JPS. So many layers. Also he and Finola have wicked chemistry. I’m team Vanna and rooting for them hoping he is flipping to take pikeman down or to protect Anna.
Enough of Pikeman !!!!
Called it. I knew once Charlotte came along Anna would stop trying to take down Valentin. It makes no sense, though, since Anna knew about her all along and that Valentin’s crimes would take him from her.
This is why Anna is no heroine on this show.
I want Anna and Valentin back together with Charlotte- they went through so much after defeating Victor there was no need to break them up. He was reddened and we thought they were going to be partners when she went to Greenland. Now this. I hope he becomes the hero now.
They may pin it on someone else to buy time. I think Cates and Ava make a good pairing. What if Cates is pikeman. I do know that Vanna are the best SL and pairing and that’s why I watch. They will need to team up and take down the bad guys again – oh and bring back Marty we miss him.
I think Valentin should pay for everything he’s done, especially everything he and his spoiled brat daughter have done to Anna, God, his lousy father almost killed Anna, didn’t he? It’s not Anna’s responsibility to worry what will become of Charlotte. She’s got her grandmother and I bet Lulu will come to ,soon. She’s got her cousin Aiden and Uncle Lucky, coming back soon. I think Jason is worth saving more than Valentin’s sorry ass.
Jason should let valentine go to jail with cates Anna has lost her mind he doesn’t care about her or Charlotte don’t either she should do her job
To keep characters on the canvas, none of law enforcement really ever wins on this show. Anna, Robert, Dante, Chase, Mac and so on find that they never really get their perp UNLESS its a character who is going off screen or they are killing off. I would prefer to have Valentin pay for his crimes and go to Jail. Be off camera for a couple months. Let Anna take in Charlotte for a bit. [Anna could not be the one getting credit for Val’s arrest] THEN, in a couple months, Valentin returns and the character is a recast by none other than Trevor St. John! Sorry, never a fan of James Patrick Stuart. As for Jagger, I like the guy. He has managed to have scenes with lots of different characters. I like when he gets under Sonny’s skin!
Sorry to disagree but I absolutely can’t stand Jagger, especially his hatred for Sonny and Jason and willing to believe that lying bitch, Ava. I couldn’t believe it when he defended her to Jason. Oh yea, she’s such a good mother, you never see her without a damn drink in her hand, and wants to take her away from the dad, she adores. I like Valentin and I think he’s a little like Sonny, he basically has a loving heart, but can’t resist doing the wrong thing. Isn’t it funny how the bad guys hate each other?
Valentin is not worth it Anna, Let Jason go and be free.
I feel like I’ve missed something. Why are Carly and Jason taking it for granted that they are free from Jagger’s threats and demands about everything he’s holding over Jason? This guy is relentless, and will never quit coming after him and Sonny.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
