General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sonny Comes Home as Jason and Carly Begin Their Wedding Night
Monday’s episode of General Hospital continued to set the stage for major payoffs in the long and winding road tale of everyone in Port Charles believing Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is dead.
Only now, with his memory in tact, Sonny is very much alive, no longer living as “Mike” in Nixon Falls. and back in the town which he ruled as the mob kingpin. Problem is: his wife, Carly (Laura Wright) just got married to his best friend, Jason (Steve Burton) and they are about to have their first night together as newlyweds. And without all the subplot and subtext, Sonny has no idea that they were first brought together to be a united front to save Sonny’s territory from the ‘Five Families’. Only now, the two have admitted they truly are in-love with each other.
In story, after the bomb that went off was proven to kill mobsters Buscema and Novak, and not its intended target – the newlyweds – thanks to a double-cross from Ms. Wu – Jason, Carly, and Ms. Wu discuss Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) involvement and that Wu is happy for Jason and Carly.
At the wedding reception, Michael (Chad Duell) gives a touching speech about his mom and Jason and gives the official toast. Later, Jason and Carly head out after Carly throws the bouquet which Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) catches.
Meanwhile, back in Nixon Falls, Sonny gets out of dodge and away from Nina (Cynthia Watros), thanks to Jax’s (Ingo Rademacher) plane, while Nina gets a visit from Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Anna (Finola Hughes), where she admits that Peter (Wes Ramsey) was in Nixon Falls, and caused the fire, and is going to go after Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and the baby. She does not tell them what she did keeping Sonny away from his family for 9 months.
Anna and Peter split up to find Peter, and Peter’s exit ride hasn’t show up yet to get him out of Nixon Falls, so Anna catches him, gun drawn.
Later at the Corinthos home, Jason and Carly are alone together in the bedroom with wedding night jitters, but Jason says there is no rush as the two kiss, just as Sonny arrives home, smiles, looks around, sees photos of himself with Carly and the family, and heads upstairs!
Will Sonny find the two in each others arms and not tell then he is alive? Will something call him away? Will Jason and Carly have sex? When will Nina get payback for all that she has done to Carly and Sonny? Will Peter get away from Anna? Let us know your theories in the comment section below.
Again, please let Carly come to her senses and Jason back to Britt!
Well, now that Sonny is back, Jason is free to go back to Britt… or Sam. Hell, even Liz is arguably available at this point.
So right, Lew S. Jason actually seemed to have a pulse when he was with Britt. JaCarly are YUCK CENTRAL. And Peter? Anna should have shot him on sight but instead they’ll talk and talk until a distraction lets him get away. I can’t wait to see Nina’s face when she’s denied visitation of Wiley. I’m sure she won’t understand why… let’s just hope she doesn’t kidnap him like she did Avery. And why is Sonny yelling every sentence already?
Yes I hope Jason finds his way back to Britt.
I would love to see him reconnect with Elizabeth and then have Britt be jealous and have a bit of a triangle develop. Can’t see Britt and Jason just moving forward like nothing happened.
Elizabeth has advanced too much over the past few years to totally regress into a Jason worship relationship. Britt is too smart for his sorry butt. He’s really need to step up his game to get her back. Chemistry wise, they work together much better than Jason/Carly – who are nearly as dull as Michael/Willow.
Excellent idea. Don’t care about the triangle. Have no desire to even see Jason in the same room as Britt. Nor to see Elizabeth in the same camera frame with Finn.
I really really like the new Sonny (MIKE) and Nina. Hope Mike rubs off on Sonny personality. Carly need a totally new man in her life and not Jason. Jason was really good with objects daughter the Doctor.
Oh please come in and shoot both of them dead then kill yourself and end this reign of terror that has been for decades swallowing this show
And replace them with what, exactly??
OLTL castaways on their 666th failed character??
Oh, Kay, you are speaking my language!
Ha! If it were a Greek tragedy that’s what would happen. Love this idea. And Sonny FINALLY goes to prison for years of breaking the law because he killed them both.
I’m not fond at all with ME& RH different characters with the same face ! Trust me I am not happy at all with what could be a great soap they just keep stepping in it but they are not alone ! I don’t recognize any of them of course I won’t judge Days I have not seen that in years or even keep up with it
Now would be a great time to give Days a shot. I’m on the show!!
Satan,
Speaking of DAYS, Iam waiting for those devil eyes to show up on Esme. She has got to be one of your “people” I also wonder why she didn’t remark to Kevin about his relationship and obvious likeness to Ryan. Is he unaware that she was there with Spencer to visit Alexis and chatted up that monster.
In my best Bill Clinton voice….
“I did NOT have sexual relations with that woman, Esme’s mother!!”
Or at least I don’t think I did….. but we don’t know who her mother is yet. Given her interest in Ryan, I think it’s very likely that he’s her father. But Ryan did NOT look happy to see her. He was sending eye signals to Harmony (who somehow knows how to interpret such things) to tell Esme to “go away”.
Now that can be interpreted one of two ways…. either Ryan knows she’s his daughter and wanted her to go away before anybody else got suspicious of the connection. Or… Ryan, being both a lunatic serial killer himself and a trained psychologist like his brother, recognized the crazy in Esme’s eyes, and didn’t want her around, since he’s not exactly able to defend himself at the moment.
Esme already mentioned she was adopted, so that inevitably means her birth parents are going to be somebody in Port Charles. Can’t be any Cassadines, because then her hooking up with Spencer would be icky. Same goes for Cyrus the Virus & his brother Colonel Sanders… uh, I mean Martin, because they’re also Spencer’s blood relatives. As is Sonny, but he’s got enough kids as it is, so I doubt that was ever on the table.
She looks a little bit like Anna Devane. Obviously Anna would never hook up with Ryan Chamberlain, but her twin sister Alex might have…. and Kevin has already told us that in the years when we all thought Ryan was dead, he was working for the DVX (GH’s version of the KGB) and Alex also worked for them. And of course, if Alex is Esme’s mother, that means Whiny Heiny would be her half-brother. Just what we needed, another family tie to that idiot.
All just a little unholy speculation, of course. Other than her ties to Ryan, they haven’t even hinted at any of these other possibilities…. yet.
Satan,
Your thoughts and ideas on this demon girl are spot on. I can see any of these scenarios being possible except I don’t like the idea of her being related to Anna. Also considering the age of Anna and Alex, wouldn’t Esme more likely be a child of someone younger, like 40 or less? While this is just conjecture, I find it very interesting. Kevin sure has her pegged and hopefully he’ll put two and two together. Is Nicolas just stupid, naive, blind or what?
Nicolas will either figure it out himself, or Trina will tell him. He had correctly realized his son was the “stalker” until Spencer had an alibi when Ava’s car got torched, the alibi being Nicolas himself, since he was with Spencer when that happened. So he jumped to the conclusion that his son was innocent, a little too soon. I’m thinking as he spends more time with Esme (now that she’s living at Wyndemere) he’ll realize that girl just ain’t right in the head, and figure out the rest.
Ok last statement let’s just admit once the mob story started oh baby you are lost!! Now I watched the horse scream and shout and nobody slapped the literal crap out of her! Oh please Maura West come back and finally put Carly down ! If anyone doubts it Maura West is the best thing that ever happened to this pathetic show! Darling bring it on just clean the floor with them!!!
Well…. if Ava ends up taking Esme out, I wouldn’t have any objections. Ryan did kill her kid, after all, so why shouldn’t she pay him back in kind.
Since Esme is arguably a threat to Avery, I’m sure Sonny would even help Ava get away with it.
Will this show stop at nothing to prop Carly and Sonny? Monica and Carly hugging was beyond gross. I don’t care how much she values Jason’s happiness, hugging the woman who kept the truth about AJ’s death would never be under consideration.
It’s time for Willow to join Abby and Sabrina in the post Michael club in the sky.
How Sonny had few side effects from an extended time trapped in a fire is way off.
Damien Spinnelli is now no longer any better than Jason or Sonny. Willingly moving a car bomb is still murder.
And, once again I’ll close with…
Die Heinrik Die
Ghost Mike protected Sonny from the fire, obviously.
Don’t ask me how that works…. I’m known for being somewhat of an expert on fire, and I’ve never seen a mortal come out of flames like that without even so much as a single burn on him. Just the smoke inhalation over that amount of time should have kept him in the hospital a couple of days at least.
As far as moving bombs from one limo to another, that seems to me to be way too risky. Spinelli is a hacker, not an explosives expert. If any manual labor was required here – since the limos seemed to be identical – it would be far less hazardous just to swap license plates, wouldn’t it?
Steve , I must say that I agree with you on Sonny and Carly and Monica’s attitude towards Carly because I know that there isn’t anyway that I would hug Carly or forget that Sonny shot A.J. I can treat them right ; however , we’re not going to socialize. I’m speaking of this from a Christian attitude. Plus, I’m not a fan of Spinnelli or Jason . I don’t like the absolute support of Carly , Sonny , and Jason ; everyone who confronts them is made to look weak and afraid of them. The reality with dealing with the Mob is that there is toughness on all sides of the group ; it’s not one-sided as it’s portrayed on G.H. Let me say this ; this situation with Carly would be cleared in a day and I would be fired the same day.
The usual will happen. Anna will end up in a headlock by Peter and Valentin will
have to drop his gun same old, same old…
How thoroughly dissappointing! We watched and waited all this time for THIS!?
I bet if Carly and Jason had been in bed, they would have just welcomed Sonny to join them. I have a lot more to say, but why bother, it’s done. Maybe when Nina returns, she can join their loving family.
Ok so we are in the mob right???? No security Sonny waltzes in opens back door then strolls up to the bedroom where Carly and Jason are. You know those two that have decided they are madly in love. I will put a all out bulletin on new writers for the soaps otherwise they will indeed be a thing of the past
It’s Sonny’s house, and he has his memories back, so assuming Jason didn’t change the security codes on the alarm system, he shouldn’t have any problem walking in the door. If I remember correctly, they don’t have guards posted at the door, only at the locked gate at the end of the driveway.
I’m over the scenery chewing on the show by this trio. It’s sad when Jason and Carly had to be propped by every couple on the show down to Monica, which is disheartening considering AJ. Writers should have never went there. Jason and Britt had a potential to be a really great new exciting couple, now that’s gone. As written, this story has disrespected fans of Carson, JaSam, Liason, etc. should have just left them friends. Writers two years back to back is too much concentrate on other great actors on show.
Jason and Britt were so hot and so much chemistry. I thought I’d barf when Jason and Carly kissed. Having Sonny walk in on them in bed would have been the cruelest thing writers could have done and I’d have finally given up on the show. So thank you for not putting me through that!!
Been waiting 25+ years just want a good endgame story, slowly they find themselves together {Jason and Carly} as they should have been all along.
Cannot stand this storyline. Jason hasn’t always loved Carly like that–bad rewrite. Jason character ruined for good now. If you watch old episodes, I think Jason loved Robin more than anyone else.
I loved the Jason/Robin story when it was happening and hated that it was the Carly/Michael connection that tore them apart. But that all changed when he and Elizabeth became friends. And they were just friends in the beginning. He listened to her grieve over Lucky and she took solace in their motorcycle rides and long talks. He enjoyed her enthusiasm and her dreams of being an artist. It took him away from the work he did for Sonny and the thoughts of how Carly and Sonny betrayed them. And then their feelings changed. I believe Jason fell hard for Elizabeth way before she realized that what she felt for him was more than friends. I have cursed the writers for decades for how they played push me, pull me with their relationship and the viewers desire to see them together and happy.
I’m so happy Sonny is back! Also, ready for the drama that the Carly/Jason decision will bring, I’m sure they will be fighting feelings behind his back, hopefully to only realize they talked themselves into being in love. Please writers don’t mess up this great trio and let this fan have a hope of Jason with Britt down the road. Also, don’t circle back around to Nina with Sonny, no one should forgive her. The acting has been top notch especially from Maurice and Cynthia, though I don’t wont them together.
Thank goodness Sonny didn’t walk in on Jason and Carly in bed together! I hope this all comes to an end now that he’s back, but I sense we’re headed towards a “Carly stuck between two men” story yet again. It’s a real shame for Jason because his friendships with Sonny and Carly will never be the same now. And I want to see a Jason/Britt pairing after the writers teased it for so long!
Jimmy,
I personally wanted to see fireworks with Sonny walking in, finding his wife in bed with his best friend. As much as I also want to see Jason getting back with Britt, I think we will see some longing glances and looks of what might have been between he and Carly. Forbidden fruit is always the tastiest. You could certainly see the love Jason has for Sonny as he embraced his friend.
Hi Jimmy–
I felt bad for Jason-
He was burned–and I also want Jason and Britt..
Now- it begins the Nina & Carly revenge/fight has just begun..
That can go in a couple of directions as Valentin enters.
And Michel will never allow Nina near her grandson, again.
And Phillis and Nina, not sure,,
Sonny will take of Phyllis (greatly)
There is much to come 🙂
I hope Sonny and Carly get back together. Jason and Britt can go back together. Isn’t Carly still married to Sonny?
i’m enjoying this week a lot , great acting from everyone specially Laura Wright & the writers are trying to shake things up!! it’s not always working but Hey!!!!!……
can’t blame them for that !
Jason and Carly are not believable together no spark like Jason with britt and sonny and carly. Please don’t ruin them.
Speaking of sparks. Is anyone believing or liking Sam and Dante together? I have to FF through their scenes. I was not a fan of Lulu but I think she will start showing improvement now that those two are getting closer. I also want to see Jason and Britt get back to where they were, if Carly allows it. ha, ha.
Lulu was mentioned today, both by Dante & Sam and by Maxie & Frodd… er.. Austin. When you get multiple mentions of an absent character on the same day in soap land, that means that character’s return is near. They started talking about Drew a HELL of a lot, a few weeks before the recast appeared in his dirty prison cell on Cassadine Island.
So bet your soul that Lulu will be back soon. Only question is whether it would be the original Lulu, or the one we saw last, or some other out of work cast member from OLTL or AMC in a new recast??
My vote is for the original, of course. The one who actually looked & acted like the daughter of Luke & Laura.
Poor Sonny is back and there is nobody around to bow down and kiss his ring. I would have told Sonny, beat it looser this is my wedding night.
Carly love Jason, she isn’t in love with him. How heartbroken is Carly, she took off her rings without a second thought. She hasn’t check on him. I don’t know they need some boundaries within their love live. I don’t want him with Britt, but I don’t think Sam will ever be an option again
I’m disappointed with the manner that the show seeks vengeance for Carly and Sonny ; however , depicts Nina and other characters’ situations as nothing. What happened to the fact that Carly and Jax withheld that Nell was Nina’s daughter because they felt that they were entitled to since( to them) Nell wasn’t a good person. Furthermore, they still justify it. Hypocrites are alive and thriving on all of these Soaps ; especially General Hospital!
I want General Hospital to make Nina’s character as strong as Michelle Stafford played her. I thought that when Cynthia Watros received the role as Nina that she would continue to be a powerful adversary since I know her work from years ago. However , G.H. chose to weaken her character to make Carly’s dominant. Put the bite in Nina that Stafford would have had if she was still on the show or is that the reason that she left? Stop making this show lopsided! Everybody isn’t afraid of Sonny , Carly , or Jason. Get a reality check!
I believe you’re remembering the story wrong. Nobody had any idea that Psycho Nell was Psycho Nina’s daughter until long after Nell was supposedly “dead”.
As far as Nell being absent from Nina’s life, neither Jax or Carly had anything to do with that. Nina’s crazy mother did (the genetics in that family tree are really off the charts, aren’t they) and by extension, you could even blame Nina’s good friend Phyllis for being an apparently willing participant in selling a baby to a scumbag like Carly’s stepdad Frank (or whatever his name was)
Nina claims to love her grandson Wiley, yet she kept his grandfather away from him for the better part of a year, not to mention not telling Michael, who certainly had nothing to do with whatever imaginary “wrongs” Nina thought Carly or Jax committed against her.
There’s simply no way to justify what Nina did. It’s every bit as psychotic and wrong as what the original Nina did when Avery was born. And this sick little game of hers not only impacted Sonny & his entire family, but also her supposed friend Phyllis, who has now lost her home & place of business, literally days after losing her husband. She put Maxie & her children at risk by hiding the fact that Whiny Heiny was running loose. Nina needs a long vacation in a padded cell. Who knows… maybe she’ll run into Nell in the nuthouse and they can have some psycho mother-daughter bonding.
Nina needs a long stay where Ryan is and they can commiserate about their lot in life and with Esme’s help figure out how to go forth ruining more lives.
Boop,
Enjoyed your comment. You are right, what’s good for the goose, etc.I feel weakening Nina actually makes Carly look like more of a bitch than usual. Although Sonny wants to, I don’t think he’s that upset and mad at Nina. In fact, I see things changing as he remembers the way they felt about each other. I am not a big fan of Michelle Stafford, but no one can do what she does. She can chew you up and spit you out without a second thought. Look what she’s done recently on Y&R, and her male co-stars find that so attractive, i.e Jack and Nick. I’d like to see some stranger come to town and give them a little competition.
Michelle Stafford was great as Nina. Hated to see her go. It would be hard to imagine her Nina bowing down and being that afraid of Carly. Of course, in Carly’s mind it’s “Carly’s World” and the rest of them are just minions living in it.
I need this to be Jarly angst in the making. My girls and I came back to the live show after so long when they finally tried Jarly. 22 years later! I’ll be heart broken if they don’t finally get their chance. I was watching Carly only clips on youtube for over a decade now.
The story is set up for Jarly. So many fans are coming back. I would die if they used more flashbacks and callbacks. They’ve done so well since Steve’s 2017 return. They even mentioned Hannah banana and Carly still having Jason’s rings from 1999. Steve has been playing up Jarly since his return. He just sparkles with Laura. The Ferncliff story. Every save. Every hand hold and hug. Just amped up beyond the already unbreakable bond. They’re just the best. The chem is off the charts.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.
