Tristan Rogers, the beloved and iconic star of General Hospital who passed away on Friday, August 15th from lung cancer, taped his last scene as Robert Scorpio a few months back and it aired on the July 18th episode of the ABC daytime drama series.

In the story, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) accompanied Robert’s daughter, Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) and her newborn daughter Daisy, to safety by flying with her in a private jet half way around the world to the home Robert and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), who now reside in together in Europe.

When Jason and Sasha arrived at Robert’s front door, it was apparent that Rogers was very frail, making these scenes all the more impactful for viewers and indeed for longtime GH vet, Steve Burton.

Taking to his Instagram to pay tribute to Tristan, Steve wrote on how Tristan wanted to be there to film what would be his last scenes and the indelible mark the Australian-born star left on him and the legacy of General Hospital.

In his post, accompanied by a photo from their last time together Steve began, “If you know, you know Robert Scorpio. Tristan Rogers … The man. The legend. The OG.”

Steve continued to share how Tristan was on his last day of work, “I’m truly honored that I had the chance to work alongside Tristan on his very last day at work. Not only that, I got to spend real time with him…just making sure he was taken care of. You could see he was going through it, but the strength he showed to still be there… it spoke volumes. Most people in that situation might have said, ‘Stay home, take care of yourself.’ But for Tristan, General Hospital l was his home. And there was no place he would rather have been.”

“Even though he wasn’t feeling his best, he would joke around, still giving us a piece of who he was. That’s the mark of a true legend,” Burton added, and concluded with,”Tristan, thank you for everything you did. You paved the way for guys like me. Rest easy, my friend. Your light and laughter live on. ❤️”

Coincidently, Steve and Tristan crossed paths many times throughout their careers  – not only when they both have come and gone and returned to General Hospital, but when they both appeared on The Young and the Restless for a few years as Colin Atkinson and Dylan McAvoy.

Now below, take a look at the final two scenes from the July 18th episode of General Hospital, and the interaction between Jason and Robert, layered with so many emotions as this would be Tristan’s final acting performance.

So, what did you think about the sentiments shared by Steve Burton on the passing of Tristan Rogers, and your thoughts on the last time we will ever see Robert Scorpio on GH? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Michael–what a great interview! Thank you so much!

Beautifully said. Tristan you will be missed. You are and will always be my favorite. Praying for the family. GH won’t be the same without you. You are an icon and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace dear one

Everything Steve Burton says in this interview was self evident in Jason’s facial expression and eyes during that last scene with Robert Scorpio. It was one of those rare and precious moments where the humanity of real life makes an appearance on a soap. Scorpio was not just a soap icon, he was an 80’s cultural icon.

You will be missed by me my ; daughter who knew you and all of us who loved watching you.

Okay – rewatching the scenes with Sofia and Tristan as Daughter and Father with granddaughter Daisy was magical. What a fantastic send off to both of the actors. Sofia – please return when you are able. Tristan – what a beautiful beautiful way to have your last time on film RIP

He was a wonderful actor and as everyone that knew him a great person to have known. Rest in peace God has your soul forever. Thoughts and prayers to his entire family.

I thank God I got to know Mr.Tristan at the beginning of him appearing on General Hospital. The coldest spy ever;that accent was so sexy.REST IN HEAVEN.STRENGHT TO HIS FAMILY.

Has Maurice Benard made a statement and I missed it? It would be the classy thing to do

The Monday, May 18 episode of General Hospital brought with it a startling discovery, a new reality for one surgeon, a new cop on the scene, and a granddaughter determined to protect her grandmother.

First, Laura (Genie Francis) tells Mac (John J. York) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) that Anna (Finola Hughes) is in worse trouble than she was previously after she had Kevin to check on her while he was in Europe. They head out to update Emma (Braedyn Bruner) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner).

Meanwhile, Emma gets upset over Anna during a discussion with Felicia and breaks Anna’s favorite coffee cup. Emma is overcome with sadness and cries, trying to figure out how she is supposed to be so happy with Gio (Giovanni Mazza), while Anna is locked away somewhere against her own will.

BAD NEWS FOR EMMA

Laura and Mac arrive to talk with Emma and Felicia, and reveal how Anna escaped and made it to the border, but she was now in the custody of the French authorities and they are transferring her to a long term mental illness facility, which freaks out Emma just as Gio arrives. Emma runs into his arms. Laura says at this point, Anna needs a strong advocate and she will make a call on her behalf. (But to who?)

At the Metro Court pool, Curtis (Donnell Turner) is arrested by Detective Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) after throwing a punch at Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson). Joe takes Curtis to the station where Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) tells Fitzgerald to remove Curtis’ handcuffs. Now inside the interrogation room, Curtis explains that he believes Isaiah left he and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) dead at the side of the road the night of the accident and provoked him.

BROKEN HAND, BROKEN MAN

Curtis just wants to put it all behind him and says he will pay for Isaiah’s medical bills, but Dante informs him, he is trouble and he needs to call a lawyer. So, he calls Jordan. Meanwhile, Isaiah gets looked at while at General Hospital, and his hand is messed up. He comes to learn he will need multiple surgeries not only for broken bones but two tendons were severed in the process. Isaiah realizes his surgical days are numbered possibility forever, if not for a very long time.

JOSSLYN FINDS ANNA’S MESSAGE

While being held hostage, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) tries again to convince Cassius (Ryan Paevey) to set her free. That leads into the two playing cards and Cassius asking Josslyn how she got into the WSB. Josslyn admits her boyfriend was murdered and she killed the person who was the culprit for retribution. She says she put together all the pieces that he did the crime, and now this line of work gives her purpose.

In the shocking final moments, after Cassius leaves for the night, Josslyn heads to the cot in the other part of the holding room and sees a hand-carved message on the wall from Anna that she was there and help captive on October 31, 2025.  We fade to black.

So what did you think of the concern Emma showed for Anna, and the performance of Braedyn Bruner? What are your very initial impressions of Jonathan Bennett as Joe Fitzgerald? Which character is annoying you more in the story …  Curtis, Jordan, Portia or Isaiah? Weigh-in via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’s’ Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna Deliver the ‘Power Performances of the Week’

Published

on

By

The on-screen father/son combo of General Hospital’s Dante and Rocco Falconeri as portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were part of high emotional stakes scenes on episodes airing May 11-15.

First, Finn Carr’s Rocco is so guilt-ridden and burdened with the secret that he shot WSB director, Ross Cullum that it’s eating him alive. So much so, that he gets into a heated argument with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Rocco feels so badly that Danny’s father was taken from him for parts unknown by the WSB, all because Jason refused to implicate Rocco as the shooter.

In a heartbreaking scene, Rocco shows up at Britt’s door and lets her know he can’t take it anymore and that the secret he is keeping is tearing him apart. The fear is palpable in Rocco’s eyes. Britt calls Rocco a hero for saving her life and Jason’s and he has to remember that. Britt hugs him and promises that he can come talk to her anytime. In that moment, Rocco felt seen and felt safe.

ROCCO ON THE EDGE

All of the beats mentioned above were played with depth and acting maturity by Finn Carr; that it is so very clear why the writers and the producers are so comfortable giving him the ball in this umbrella story. He steps up to the plate every time and hits it out of the park.

Rocco also overheard his parents fighting over him after Dante figured out that Rocco was responsible for the shooting, and confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins) for withholding the truth from him. As their argument escalated and their relationship was further threatened by the lies, Rocco listened to the whole thing from the outside porch.

Eventually Dante, who had learned the truth by having Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) help him piece together what happened the night Cullum was shot, has a heart to heart with his son. He asks Rocco to tell him in his own words the events that transpired, and promises Rocco, that even though he is the police commissioner, he is going to help him. Rocco goes step by step over how Cullum was about to strike Jason with a weighted-baton and how the gun was loose on the ground and he shot him. Dante says his actions saved Jason and Britt’s life, and that he is going to help his son from here on out. He just wished everyone had come to him sooner, because as the father it’s his job to protect his son, not the other way around.

DANTE COMES TO TERMS

Still later in the week, Dante is visited by Elizabeth, and they discuss how they are going to cover-up any evidence that Rocco was at the hospital the night of the shooting with a hand injury, and that Dante is going to make sure the evidence against Rocco disappears. Something that is a huge disconnect for anyone that knows what a fine and upstanding cop Dante has been through the years, but he is determined to help his son stay safe and to keep him close.

However, Cullum is on the hunt for said evidence, and thinks Danny may have shot him in the back (or does he … and he knows Rocco shot him?). He visits Dante’s office and wants the evidence in the shooting. Meanwhile, bets are we are a few story beats away from Danny learning Rocco shot Cullum.

Throughout all the material given to Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna they rose to the occasion. Finn, getting the opportunity to play the often uptight Rocco on the edge, and Dominic, showing us how he can make us feel what Dante is feeling just by watching the emotion and hurt in his eyes. Therefore, Michael Fairman TV names Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna our picks for the Power Performances of the Week.

Now below, let us know if you agree with our picks of Finn and Dominic as the standout performances of the week, and if so, what moment really tugged on your heartstrings featuring Rocco and/or Dante via the comment section.
