GENERAL HOSPITAL: The Letter

By Michael Fairman

Monday’s cliffhanger for General Hospital, may finally move the needle in the relationship of Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) … or will it?

Fans of #Sprina are hoping that Tuesday’s episode will bring with it, at least, Trina learning Spencer’s true feelings for her, before he goes back to prison.

The tense final moments of Monday’s GH came about when Trina was being a thrown a party at the Savoy – after all the charges were dropped against for the viral video of Cam (William Lipton) and Joss (Eden McCoy) having sex, when it was really Esme (Avery Pohl) who did the dirty deed.

At the celebration, Trina’s not thrilled to see a dressed-up Spencer show up at the party.  With the letter he penned for Trina in his sport coat pocket, he tells Trina he wanted to see her before he serves his time in Pentonville.

Trina is taking a tough stance with Spencer. While he tells her they are friends, Trina says she needs time, even though he came forward in the trial and risked his freedom for her.  She tells Spencer she wants what’s best for him, and after they hug, she goes back to enjoy her evening with Rory (Michael Blake Kruse).

Wanting to move their relationship along, and after Rory invites Trina to a police officer banquet, she says she does’t want to be so cautious anymore in her life, and the two seem to be getting much closer.

Cameron sees Spencer sitting alone at a corner table at the party and sees him with the letter.  Spencer admits he wrote it as an apology to Trina and to let her know how he really feels about her.  However, after talking with her and seeing Trina and Rory, he decides he’s not going to give her the letter.

Cameron expresses that Trina deserves the truth and to let her decide what she wants in her life.  After all, Spencer admits he loves Trina in the letter.

Later, as Spencer exits the party, he drops the letter in front of Trina, and she gets to it first! With it in hand, she asks Spencer, what is this?  He looks on shocked and worried of what to do next.

So, will Spencer get the letter back in his possession before Trina reads it?  Will Trina open it after Spencer runs out? Will Trina read it with Spencer present, or … could the letter somehow end up in Rory’s hands and he hides the letter from Trina and she will never know the truth, and Spencer will think she knows, and doesn’t love him back? Share your theories in the comment section below.

But first, in case you missed it, check out our recent video interview with Tabyana Ali and Brooke Kerr (Portia) where they talk all things Sprina and more.

I really dislike these “tell him/her you love him/her before it’s too late” scenarios, followed by a series of misunderstandings…so manipulative. I adore Spencer but nuTrina is a better match with Rory, chemistry-wise. So I really am not invested in “the letter” except it reminds to rewatch the classic Bette Davis movie of the same name. Now THAT’S a story!

HaHa—That’s exactly what my grandmother said, Soaphound—“The lettah; where’s the lettah Petah? —give me the lettah, Petah!!”,
I am not feeling it. That letter scene was so idiotic. What I got out of it? Appreciating yummy Spencer’s face and Trina’s dress.

Since Rory’s probably going to be transferring from the PCPD to Chicago in the near future, they might as well pull the plug on that whole thing now.

Maybe Spence can be the one who helps Trina pick up the pieces when she inevitably finds out that Taggert ain’t her daddy.

She’s going to be even more upset when she finds out that Curtis her real dad may have passed on his dad’s mental problem, which I’ve never believed the man has. I always felt he was misdiagnosed, though I don’t know how taking the meds for something like that would effect you if you didn’t need them. I also think Auntie needs to come clean and tell them what really happened to the divorce papers. I thought she had more integrity.

I don’t think it’s “lack of integrity” on Stella’s part. Remember that she had a stroke right in the middle of Kelly’s Diner when she was supposed to be dropping off the signed divorce papers at the court house.

Neurological injuries often have some impact on a mortal memory, so Stella had forgotten all about the papers, until yesterday when the announcement of the impending Curtis & Portia wedding. It’s possible that she’s not completely sure of her memories…. or she’s hesitant about how exactly to break the news to her nephew that he can’t get married just yet. Stella, being a devoutly religious woman, will no doubt do the right thing soon, and not run the risk of meeting me in the afterlife, by being responsible for her nephew committing bigamy.

Satan
Everything you say is right but she DID have another recollection of taking the papers when she first visited Curtis and Portia’s new house. I was just assuming she had now fully remembered the whole incident. Now, Iam really g9ing to say something crazy, but have you or anyone noticed Portia’s giggle/squeal she does? It’s driving me nuts!

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
