General Hospital will take part in ABC’s Home for Holidays campaign kicking off today.  On GH, look for the soap to incorporate a storyline featuring a U.S. Veteran in its upcoming episodes!

But this initiative from ABC is far reaching throughout all of its programming as the holidays near.  ABC Primetime Series will feature veterans in cameo roles and/or as part of storylines in upcoming episodes of Modern Family, and Last Man Standing ,and The Neighbors is offering a veteran the opportunity to shadow one of their directors while Daytime’s The View and The Chew will lend their support through various themed episodes throughout the holiday season.  ABC News is joining the initiative across all of their programming throughout November and December.

As part of ABC’s annual Home for the Holidays campaign and in support of Disney’s company – wide “Heroes Work Here” initiative, which served as the foundation for a recent Veteran’s hiring event at Walt Disney World featuring a keynote address by First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama, ABC will honor our military veterans with several new elements this year by premiering five short films written, directed, and produced by U.S. Veterans highlighting the creative work from our military servicemen and women.

Five talented U.S. Veterans with aspirations to work in the entertainment industry were selected to create digital short films which will be thematically centered around U.S. Veterans coming home this holiday season.  As part of the initiative, these five U.S. Veteran storytellers and their short films will be mentored throughout the creative process by experienced creative teams from some of ABC’s most   successful series. The five short films will begin to debut on ABC.com today!

In addition, Grammy award winning group, Lady Antebellum will record a cover of Kenny Loggins “Celebrate Me Home” which will be the official anthem of ABC’s Home for the Holidays.

So, how will GH work a U.S Veteran into their storylines?  What do you think of ABC’s Home for the Holidays campaign?

Perhaps TJ’s dad isn’t actually dead after all??? And Shawn and TJ are finally getting their own story.

Shawn is a war veteran on the show, so maybe he’s getting in own storyline pretty soon!

This is great…we should always honor our vets and not just around the holidays but everyday…

Well said!!!

All that will help our honored Vets, I give two thumbs up!!!
I am delighted to see this happening..

All veterans are Hero’s and should be supported in reaching their chosen carers !

I think t.j mom’s should come and takl to TJ about his dad …..Now who should play his mom?? VICTORIA ROWELL!!! Take that Y&Dull!!!

I wouldve prefered Debbie Morgan as his mom…but a Victoria Rowel casting would make great publicity too…

A very positive move in the right direction. Thank you.

This is bs. Who cares? Innocent people are getting killed everyday. Send the troops home now. we want our soaps back. not this bs crap.

Wish OLTL was coming home for the holidays.

I feel that any attempt by this show to do any type of public service is in poor taste at best and completely ludicrous at worst. This is a show that features a war veteran who now is a murderer for hire. Not because he has to…he wants to. He enjoys it…he needs it. He threatens to shove a man’s hand into a deep fryer and does it with a look of glee on his face. This is a show that glorifies violence of all kinds. The “heroes” on this show are thugs, mobsters and murderers. This is similar to when ABC marketed a Todd the Rapist Doll. Does anyone in charge watch these shows??

So true… and the Todd the Rapist Doll is quite a collectors item now.

Hey Brian I thought they banned that Todd doll?

This us where people in good mental separate the fiction from reality, the Vet being honored, given a day to act to dream, is reality 🙂

What is being done is for vets who want to be in the entertainment industry to work have a chance others can only dream of having…
A great opportunity for them.

these are real vets doing real things in their real lives, I’m very happy for them! I hope the 5 go on to great things through this opportunity

Sabrina has a heart of gold, have her come upon a Vet, down on HER luck and help her find work at GH.

Huh….didn’t YR just have two episodes revolving around our vets. GH seems like they are playing catch up?

Didn’t Y&R just do that. It sound like they are copying CBS daytime.

These things take time to plan so it is doubtful they copied them. It might have been CBS who caught wind of what ABC/D was planning months ago and they made sure they got a mini version out before ABC’s could air— who knows. Also, I am not American, but hasn’t this been a pet cause of the first lady for a while, perhaps she or her people contacted studios asking them to do something during November holiday season and both CBS and ABC took up the call. Whatever happened I think in this case even someone copied another no should mind.

The vet suffering on GH from the war, Is now a vicious killer ? Some celebration. GMAB.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
