Wes Ramsey Returns to ‘General Hospital’ as Peter August

In a surprise twist revealed on the July 2 episode of General Hospital, Wes Ramsey has made another return as the treacherous Peter August and this time it looks like he may be staying awhile to haunt the fragile mind of Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
Peter’s ghostly return happened again after Felicia (Kristina Wagner) realized Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) was impersonating Nathan West and Anna was right about her hunch. Anna asked Felicia to tell what happened to her therapist, Dr Laurent. It was then the therapist declared that Anna has made tremendous progress, now able to discern reality from her hallucinations, and she is now ready to return to Port Charles.
Now alone, Anna closed the door to her clinic room and a voice was heard saying, “Nicely done.” Anna turned and the camera revealed it was Peter August sitting across the room from her who added, “Do you think they bought it?”

AUGUST IN JULY
The character of Peter August was originally killed off in 2022. He came back earlier this year as a part of a hallucination when Anna was being help captive by Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) on the January 23 episode.
Later, Ramsey showed up on Days of Our Lives reprising one of his other soap roles of Owen Kent in episodes that streamed on Peacock in February and March.
ANNA DOUBLE-AGENT?
With Peter confirmed back on the canvas on General Hospital, most likely in the recurring capacity of the voice in Anna’s head, and with plan to kill someone in Port Charles, it ties back to what GH co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten shared in their summer preview to Soap Opera Digest.
The head scribes expressed that Anna would be suffering, “the long-term effects of her imprisonment and gaslighting at Cullum’s hands. Any happy reunions with friends and family are colored by counsel from a less-than-reliable source.” Now it seems clear the less-than-reliable source is Peter August who is seemingly existing in a part of Anna’s mind.
So, what do you think about the stunning reveal that Anna isn’t really “cured” at all and Peter August has infiltrated her mind? Remember, when Anna came on to GH originally, she was a double agent! Who do you think will be Anna’s target when she gets back to Port Charles? Let us know via the comment section.
Yawn.
I would have much preferred a voiceover from Anders Hove. Now that would have been a return!
They already did that recently when Anna was being held captive at Wyndemere, and hallucinated that Faison was talking to her over the intercom. Anders voiced the lines from Denmark.
Cesar Faison is right up there with the great villains in GH and soap history, I wish they hadn’t killed him off when they did.
Worst! News! Ever!!
This had better be a VERY short-term return. Couldn’t stand Peter back then…still can‘t stand him!
Why are they doing this to Anna?!? I want her back to her old self, not some ongoing nutcase!
Is this what turns GH from “must see“ to the horrible “fast-forward” mess that is Y&R?!?!?
Thank you. Your rant is my rant and now I don’t have to do it.
Same agree
Oh no we dont need the awful Wes Ramsey agaIn! When will this show finally get that we can’t stand him!!
No one asked for this.
They can bring a lot of people from the dead…. Why can’t they bring back Sam…
Peter is not alive. Sam won’t be returning from the netherworld any time soon either.
You left out Dex. Does this mean he’s coming back?
There’s a better chance that Dex returns than Sam or Morgan, but don’t hold your breath – it’s highly unlikely.
Or Dex
Today’s episode was ALMOST perfect. Until he showed up.
(Fear not folks, he hasn’t actually escaped from Hell!)
Love Wes. So glad to see him back.
So you’re the one!
Not happy about Anna staying out of port Charles longer. It has been almost a yr. Dragging it out way too long, it would make more sense for her to return and him to be alive and haunt someone else and she brings him down! Saves James from his clutches than her being nuts!
Completely agree! I knew it was too good to be true before Peter showed his face! Rumors have it that Anna will have to be rescued by Robert and he will die in the process to make for a tribute for him and Tristan Rogers who died more than a year ago. Kimberly McCullough will also be back for Robin’s good-bye to her father. I really hope Peter is only a ghost because he is probably the worst character, IMO.
That brought an A+ episode down to a C. I’m all caught in the momentum of the show and then of all of sudden – I’m like why, why, why?
The most divisive, less liked character in this decade back for a meaningless appearance. Almost wish Peter was alive and Felicia walked in with an even bigger tire iron.
Adding to that, Peter manifesting himself to Anna as a psychological phantom keeps her tethered to a depressing, mentally stagnate state. We just had young Joss kicking ass as a WSB agent the way Anna nice did .We need to see Anna back keeping pace as the lean mean fighting machine that she is. Free Anna from Peter.
Gosh darn it! When I click the edit app, I receive a message that reads that my message is no longer available for editing. In any case, I meant to write,” once,” not “nice.” Not that anyone cares, but still.
I’m not happy about this news. No offense to the actor. I don’t know the character. I didn’t watch GH during his reign of terror. I strongly believe it is time for Anna to heal from the horrible trauma she’s lived through. Having some ghost pop up from time to time is not the way to achieve healing.
Do the Y&R & GH writers only know how to write stories about people being tortured?
I see alot of fast forward going on
Same old same old
Can’t stand the character of Peter, August!! I hope his return is short-lived. I’m still in morning over the death of Andrew Hawks’s character,, Ross Cullum. I hope they bring him back on a long-term contract as someone to spar with Tracy Quartermaine. Thank you, Mr. Hawkes, for your phenomenal performances, and for the richness and depth that you brought to GH during your run on the show. Please come back soon; I miss you already!!

‘General Hospital’ Writes Maxie Jones and Her Family Off The Show

The answer to what General Hospital fans have been speculating about for months has come to a conclusion, for now.
On the Thursday, July 23 episode of the ABC daytime drama series it was revealed in story that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), along with her man, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and her three children, Georgie (Lily Fisher), Bailey (Miley and Riley Plonski) and James (Gary James Fuller) are headed to Australia to live after Spinelli received a job offer he couldn’t refuse.
However, the message of the status of Maxie and her clan, came from none other than Cody (Josh Kelly) during a conversation where he explained that they were all packing up to head to the land down under the following night and they were just “itching to get out of Port Charles.” In addition, Maxie has divested her shares of Deception Cosmetics and sold them to Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson).

IS THERE A FUTURE FOR MAXIE TO RETURN?
All of this paves the way for the series to deal with the longer absence of Kirsten Storms who is back in Tennessee and not having her figure into any immediate storyline.
While the family uprooting themselves to Australia certainly doesn’t look like any return in the near future would be likely, the series can always decide down the line and take their time of what to do with Maxie, if Kirsten Storms, should never return to the role or they would decide to recast, if needed.
This does complete Maxie’s story for now. It was back in February of 2026, that Maxie came out of her coma and was reunited with her family and saw her believed-to-be husband, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) back from the dead, who later proved to be Cassius Faison. Storms comeback lasted about a month and by March she was no longer on the series.
It was back last month in June that Storms took to Instagram to share that “As for what is in my future, where GH is concerned…. Given what’s been going on, I can’t say I will feel comfortable heading back to Los Angeles and returning to work.”
All of this stems from her reported break-ins to her apartment, the hacking of her devices all occurring in Tennessee, coupled by the restraining order served to her by her ex-husband Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny, GH and ex-Stefan/Jake, Days).
So, how do you feel about General Hospital writing out Maxie Jones with a sudden move to Australia, taking Spinelli and the kids all seemingly off the canvas? Do you like the way this leaves a door open for Maxie to visit or return to Port Charles one day?
Do you think the series should honor the work Kirsten Storms did in the role and not recast, or should they recast down the line? Let us know via the comment section.

RATINGS: ‘General Hospital’ Scores 15-Week High in Total Viewers and Crosses the 2 Million Mark for First Time in 9 Weeks

General Hospital had more people tuning in than over the past three and half months for the week of July 6-10. According to the latest ratings report from Soap Opera Network, GH’s storyline and the fallout from Cullum’s (Andrew Hawkes) death and the arrival of Z (John Oliver) had piqued fans interest enough for the ABC soap to bring in its best total viewer overall average in the last 9 weeks.
In addition, GH attracted its largest audience in 15 weeks since the week of March 23-27, 2026. The last time the ABC soap opera clocked in at over 2 million total viewers for a particular week was the week of May 4-8, 2026.
For the July 6-1o ratings period General Hospital average 2.052 million total viewers which was up p +72,000 week-to-week and +132,000 year-over-year. Let’s take a look at what was driving the numbers below for the ratings week:

Z REVEALS CASSIUS IS ALIVE
Carly (Laura Wright) confronted Z and demanded he pull Josslyn (Eden McCoy) from the WSB. Z refused, leading Carly to slap him across the face. Meanwhile, director Ross Cullum was exposed as a rogue double agent who had abducted individuals to finish Cesar’s final project.
At the end of the July 6 episode, John Oliver finished his 3 day guest-stint, but not before revealing to viewers that he had imprisoned Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) and he was actually alive. Z had then propositioned Cassius with work for the WSB or be sent away for Cullum’s crimes that they are pinning on him. The episode also marked the end of Ryan Paevey’s General Hospital run.
Elsewhere, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) discovered the truth that this entire time she had been duped and never actually suffered from Huntington’s disease, having been manipulated by Cullum’s operation to finish the cold fusion project.
ANNA COMES HOME
Anna (Finola Hughes) finally returned home to Port Charles with her loved ones in tow. She was greeted later by her ex-flame, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) who was at her front door who was concerned for her mental well-being. Once along, Anna is haunted by the ghost of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) telling her to take care of things.
Later in the week, Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) clashed. He wants her to get his money for him from some off shore accounts in exchange for hooking her up a the same German clinic Michael went to to recover from his burns. He tells her she can jump on the line and help restore her scarred face, if she follows his demands, which Jordan turns down.
It should also be noted that General Hospital remained as the #1 most-watched show on Hulu on July 7, 8 and 10 and remained in the top five for the rest of the week. Source for the above ratings numbers are derived from Nielsen (Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel).
So, was the July 6-10 week of episodes having you glued to your set and tuning-in every day to watch General Hospital and not miss an episode? Would you agree that the preceding week which featured the shootout where Josslyn saves the day and ends up killing Cullum, one of the more exciting in a long time? Do you think based on the strength of its storylines and day-to-day episodes that you’d hope General Hospital would score even higher than it did against the other soaps? GENERAL HOSPITAL: Trina Has a Stalker: Is it Simon, Quinn, or Someone From Her Past?

Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) looks to be the next soap opera character to fall under the “woman being stalked or the center of someone’s obsession,” soap trope, when in the closing moments of the Wednesday, July 22 episode of General Hospital, a bulletin board was revealed covered with various photos of the budding young singer who just landed her first record label deal.
Now that GH has launched this summer mystery, the soap opera gave us two potential culprits right off the bat, although they could be major red herrings, and someone else currently on the canvas, who would be the least likely person, could be the obsessed stalker. Or, could it be a blast from the past (think the ‘late’ Esme Prince) and someone who has an ax to grind with Trina?
Here’s what went down: Simon (Grady Eldridge) revealed to Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Trina, that the record label wants Gio and Trina to sign separate artist deals, which surprised all three. Brook Lynn talks it over with her clients, and Gio is firm. He only wants to do the deal if he and Trina come as a package. After Simon learned of their decision, we later see him on a call. On the call he says although they had signed Trina and Gio, Trina was “the one to watch.”

QUINN SHOWS UP OUT OF NOWHERE WITH APOLOGIES FOR KAI AND TRINA
Meanwhile, Trina’s boyfriend Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) ran into former friend and football teammate Quinn (Jequan Jackson in his return to GH). The last time viewers saw Quinn was back in February of 2025, when after Kai’s injury that ended his football career, Quinn blamed this all on Trina for splitting Kai’s focus between football and her, when he needed to be concentrating on his career aspirations.
As Kai is waiting for Trina (following her meeting with music executive, Simon), Quinn shows up and apologizes to Kai for speaking to Trina so badly in the wake of his accident. Quinn hopes their friendship can be repaired. Suddenly, Trina arrives and is shocked to see Quinn. He promptly apologizes to her for his past mistake and hopes they could all hang out sometime.
When Quinn makes his exit, Trina informs Kai about what happened during the record label meeting and the two kiss as the camera pana to Quinn sitting in the corner table glowering at Trina and Kai. From there, we get the full on bulletin board with cut-out pics in a Trina collage, and the camera comes in close, and then we fade to black.
So, what do you think is going on here? Who is the obsessed stalker, or who is wanting payback on Trina? Do you think Simon or Quinn are true suspects? Could it be a very much alive Esme Prince, or someone else entirely? Weigh-in with your picks via the comment section below.
