This week on ABC’s General Hospital look for the news of Jason (Steve Burton) being buried under the rubble in the cave explosion on Cassadine Island to have a ripple effect for his family and loved ones.

In the latest promo, Drew (Cameron Mathison) looks to deliver that news to Sam (Kelly Monaco) and her new beau, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna).  Then, Anna (Finola Hughes) delivers Jason’s fate to Sonny (Maurice Benard) as food goes a-flying! Finally, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) has the task to report to Carly (Laura Wright) what happened to Carly’s bestie and almost husband!

How will Carly get through losing Jason and as she gets closer to the truth that Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny had a romantic past and lingering feelings for each other, while the two were in Nixon Falls?  Will it all be too much for her to bear?

What will happen with Sam, now that Jason is gone, Drew is back ,and she is a new relationship with Dante?

Then, who will become Sonny’s hitman with no Jason around?  These are major questions left to be answered with the departure of the character of Jason from the GH canvas.

So, let us know what you think the fallout will be when Jason’s loved ones learn what happened to him? Do you think GH plans to recast the role, given that the pandemic is not going away anytime soon? Let us now via the comment section, but first check out ‘said’ ABC promo below.

they should definitely recast, this he’s dead again won’t fly, talk about bad timing, so yeah, I vote for a recast, its just gonna look redundant if he’s dead again. it will turn into a completion of who will mourn him the most. then there’s the kids being told hey daddy Jason is dead again but uncle/daddy drew is back.

Sam to her children:

Scout: Good news, your father who we thought was dead is now alive!

Danny: the father you barely saw is dead again.

Merry Christmas kids

What will happen? The exact same thing that happened when Sonny disappeared. They can probably reuse the same dialogue and just change “Sonny” to “Jason”. Either way, it’s the Corinthos Show all over again, especially Carly. I’m dreading it.

The acting on this show is on fire!! It makes up for some of the plot holes and rewrites. Can’t wait to see the fallout from Jason’s death. I respect Steve Burton’s personal views on vaccination, but at end of the day the employer has to look out for all employees.

Carly is so incredibly selfish! She thinks everything is always about her. Britt is grieving too. Carly is possessive of the people she loves. I simply can’t stand her, just such a horrible character!

They did a nice job with the news – Anna and Sonny was interesting because they hardly ever have scenes together.

My guess is that Jason will return some time in the future. For me personally I wish he would regain his memories of being Jason Quartermaine and leave “Jason Morgan” gone forever…

It would be ridiculous for Jason to suddenly appear with full access to the sectors of his mental “hard drive” that have been disabled since 1995.

On the other horn, his alleged twin brother seems to have recovered his own lost memories (like his Navy Seal training & his high school football jersey number) by doing nothing but sitting in a prison cell for the last two years, so it wouldn’t be any more out of character than that, I guess.

Jason’s had 666 different head injuries since the first time AJ drunkenly scrambled his brains into a tree, so it seems unlikely this cave-in would accomplish something that all the other injuries could not.

Satan – yes Jason showing up as Jason Quartermaine not Jason Morgan would be ridiculous. But selfish Carly’s reaction would be priceless. Carly’s little mind would be thrown for a serious loop.

I like Laura Wright, but I agree with you about the character Carly in today’s episode. If Britt had “told off” Carly in today’s episode, I don’t think many viewers would have been upset. The Carly character is so high strung, selfish and childish. It must take a lot of energy to play that character. I bet Laura Wright is mentally exhausted after many scenes.

“…mentally exhausted” christ… her numbers are up… she’s scrambling

so over her histrionic self entitlement…

if only… @GH writers w/Frank Valentini approval… should they write… anything to the detriment of their stars… would they be lambasted.. as the truth is out their…. they have run their course.

I totally respect Steve for leaving and standing his ground!!!! I hope many more follow suit.

With that said…how many times do we have to watch the “Jason is Dead” show?? Monica has lost every one of her children, some more than once. Enough already!!

what about jake and liz why are they not in your preveiw

Jake seems to have disappeared lately. I suspect he’s become a casualty of SORASing, because they have aged Danny so rapidly, and obviously Jake should be older than his half brother. But if they aged him proportionally, he’d be as old as Cameron, and that wouldn’t work either!

Exactly! We are watching Britt, who has known Jason for all of 10 minutes, hanging out on THE BRIDGE with Carly grieving like she and Jason had some decades long relationship. Has it occurred to no one to tell Elizabeth and Jason’s first born son that Jason is gone. Elizabeth and Jason not only loved each other but have been friends for over 20 years. I for one feel that out of respect for Jason and Elizabeth’s history together and the legions of fans who yearned to finally see them together again, the writers need to include some scenes of Elizabeth and Jake hearing of Jason’s death. And that they should be told by someone close to Jason and not in some unintentional way like how Sonny broke the news to Spinelli. “Oh, I thought you knew.” Next to Sonny and Carly, Spinelli was Jason’s closest friend. Sasha mentioned Elizabeth when Carly visited her at the hospital and I kept waiting for the light bulb in Carly’s head to come on, “Oh no, I wonder if someone told Liz about Jason. Better tell her before she hears it on the news.” General Hospital writers miss so many opportunities for compelling dramatic moments. The show would be so much better if they would just remember the history of the characters and stop trying to shove characters together and create chemistry where it does not exist.

Sick of the weeping, the blaming and the same old same old—
Jason isn’t dead—-soooo…….
Carly should just suck on a pacifier and relax—Lover Boy will soon come home to her.

Recast Jason GH is not worth watching with a Jason and Sonny

FLY W/this : Our Britta tangoed , dance card filled to the gills: Julian, Jax, AND Jason. LOL wild applause as dried up haggie Laura Wright’ Carly “flatlines”

So what are you saying… that having sex with Britch is hazardous to your health? I mean… none of those guys are around anymore.

Now on the other horn, I’m immortal, so I’d probably take my chances.

well… you can throw in Mr. Tyler Christopher, as well. Kelly Thiebaud… has CONNECT with every single person… AND wherever you place her in Port charles. ie: this is actually a prop for Roger Howarth… and I hate his hair… Ms. Britta has been on the show long enough… yet her presence , is always on par, if even more engaging. Yeah, I love this girl. she deserves to be @GH LEADING LADY. and you can bet… laura wright, knowsthis. anyway… it was rather touching to see Britta and Austin in her office… as he’s inviting her for turkey and a football game. the eye contact the comfort level… room for more.

I LOVE VALENTIN so much !!! AT THE Q. valentin to Brooklyn.

“you are nothing but the runt of the Quartermaine Litter” as he shares he once again has his shares back… and thereby at the helm. OH GOD , this show would be nothing without James patrick Stuart. W / ANNA heating UP.

oh, AND… EVERY ONE on FB @GH fan page’ is in a tither .. AND want Britta to be pregnant w/Jason baby. let’s watch Carly spiral. even tho the timeline says it may not be possible… so what?

As Carly would say, “Oh, HELL NO!”

Hey, Patrick—flatlined is only a “shade” of Carly. Her dolorious tears are hard to take in. Her love of Jason is not your typical love for a friend—-she makes a mockery of her everlasting love for Sonny.—-a farce!,…..which makes me believe that her all consuming love has always been for Jason.
In what universe does a husband ( or other half) stands around, tolerating his wife’s moaning and pining over another man, knowing fully well that her love goes beyond friendship?
I have said this before. Carly wants both Jason and Sonny—so, there’s no shock and awe here—at least not for moi!
What does this make Sonny? Less than a man? A puppet? An idiot? Sonny? Il capo mafioso? Ahh, Sonny—-losing your stamina?
Where is your pride?
I do hope Jason reappears ….recast or nay……let us just hope and pray, he will reunite with Britt. He comes alive with her. No robotic moves. Plus, when he and Carly made out? My stomach heaved. No stirring of the senses or other “stuff”.
The PTB and their proclivity to revisit the same plots with the same characters is beyond boring. It is annoying! Thus, enough, per favore.
Sonny has feelings for Nina, whom I love, even with all her flaws. And, as much as the idea pains me? I want this to happen—leave Carly behind—“….another one bites the dust…” Oh, well…..c’est la vie, mon ami.

jeez louise didn’t Cameron Matthison scenes w/Sam w/Dante their… look so off, and uncomfortable !!!! HELLO PEEPS… Sam goes nowhere ! not to say Cameron was any good, either. his acting chops may improve… i doubt it. he was STUD , and served his purpose.. had a drive way back then to “make it”. i don’t know… I want Cameron mattison w/Carly… just to keep her away from Trevor St. John. RIGHT? Jeez.. this is something to look forward to… BUT NOT W/ the Corinthos’ just wow on dead on arrival Sonny and Carly. it’s too bad , most of Dante time is “being sensitive” oh he’s oh so fine… Writers NEED TO STEER DANTE.. he’s worth the effort

it was so pathetic… ALL Carly could say as she stomped off… “i wish jason had never met you”. expletive… when @GH always give Carly the first knock off… she does come across with her usual loudmouth… it’s so tiring and same ole. Christ ! watching her big ole mug shed HER tears… LOL as no one gives a shit about her. sigh the big reveal that Sonny may be in love with Nina… PS… since Carly wasn’t caught NAKED w/Jason… GOD that sequence w/Jason almost sexual tryst… was too peculiar. I don’t know if Sonny nutted up w/Nina. oh well… what a lively two bit .. save your quarter. show’ over

Patrick
I also love Britt ,guess I’ll have to accept whomever they choose to pair her up with, the lucky guy, huh? Hopefully not new Drew, would prefer Austin.
I think Sonny has a problem or two.Just my two cents worth. He is in denial over Nina, knows he’s supposed to hate her but can’t and he gets that look in his eyes when Jason and Carly’s wedding is mentioned. I think he wonders what would have really happened if he’d arrived just a few minutes later.
Can not accept Cameron M. as Drew, so I just think of him as a new cast member.I don’t know how I feel about Dante, did not find him sexy with Lulu, but he and Sam are a different story.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
