This week as General Hospital kicks off its 51st year on network television, it’s Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) who are in the middle of some heavy drama!

Armed with the knowledge that Sonny shot AJ (Sean Kanan) and put him in a coma, (thanks to AJ waking up for a few minutes to spill the beans to Carly), Carly must make a choice.  Will she turn in her ex and father to Michael (Chad Duell)?  Or, will she keep quiet?

In this sneak peek video from ABC, Sonny is clearly on edge as to what Carly’s decision will be!  He says as long as he knows what she is going to do, he will deal with it.  And as we see, Carly doesn’t know yet what to do!   Her decision and the fallout will be key to the storyline moving forward.

Watch the clip after the jump! Then, let us know what you think Carly should do? Tell Michael who is responsible?  Keep quiet and protect Sonny? Comment below!

She’ll keep it a secret in fear of Micheals reaction…maybe! Ava will learn Carly knows and tries to kill her…maybe! Whens the next sweeps month…thats when Carly tells the truth(may, 2015…lol) Micheal will hate Carly if she keeps it a secret too long and then he finds out about it…maybe! I really dont see her telling anyone anytime soon…i could be wrong but you know how these stories like to drag out! Perhaps the two other Carlys will play her concious…the good one will advise her to do the right thing and tell, and the bad one will tell her to keep her mouth shut! Maybe Carly will think A.J. lied to her just to get back at Sonny and wont do a dang thing?…lol

A.J. died but that dont mean anything on this soap…S.K. could still return one day as Jason or even A.J…you never know…Micheal should change his last name to Quartimaine to honor his father in the meantime!!!

I am a Sonny fan forever, but he is seeming a little weak now. He no loner has self restraint, and is acting like a coward at times. AJ had time while he was pleading to say, AJ is Ava Jerome…but he was too busy whimpering (like always). Sonny used to be smart and strong but Jason was always the BOSS. He didnt talk, didnt ask questions, just did his job , cleaned up the mess and left the scene. Ava is going to try and blackmail Sonny. But i think Sonny’s going to kill himself. He ‘s not going to prison because his character cannot be locked up. So whats left. Unless Michael kills him. Who knows. either way, Sonny is permanently leaving the business.

Well, SsC, if you look at Sonny as a coward, then, yes, he should kill himself since that is an act of cowardice. However, I must disagree with you ….Sonny was never strong…he hid behind a gun and let others do his dirty work for him and then, as you say, had said work cleaned up. As far as Depicting AJ as a whimperer, as you put it…not true …as always, you say? I am going to paraphrase Shay when she describes AJ as a tormented soul. You must remember he had a rough time of it. I was too young but my Mom said AJ was always the outsider and he resented Jason for being the golden boy until he became a deviant, as Edward Quartermain was wont to say. So the tortured and lost AJ you saw was the product of that insecurity. It seemed that no matter what he did or how much he tried to please, the fates were always against him…this is how he felt….so, he continuously threw caution to the wind…and why not? No one cared or believed him. He was haunted by his demons, a constant in his life. As for Sonny? I have no use for him. Just my opinion.

Duh. This is Carly we are talking about. Of course she wont make the right decision. She will protect Sonny as always. These are truly disgusting characters. If I have to listen to either of them call AJ a son of a bitch one more time and wish death upon him as he lies helpless in a coma I am turning this show off. How do the writers think we are supposed to root for characters like that when the ONLY innocent one in the whole scenario was shot point blank and is hovering near death????? It is long past time for Sonny to be locked behind bars and to pay for his love of violence and false retribution. And can someone please muzzle Olivia??? She kept Dante away from Sonny all of his life and now she is just a brainless, moronic moll in a haze that Sonnycan do no wrong. She SAW him shoot his own son in the chest, and this is the man she now loves??????? As much as I dislike Franco, I hope he finds out and puts the screws to Sonny in a big way!! I have accepted that under his regime, evil always triumphs and that nothig resembling justice, or logic, or righteousness will ever be displayed or shown. However, if Sonny can pay by being blackmailed, ostracized, broken, alone, and lose Michael’s completely unearned love, then it will be well worth it.

I agree, Johnny. And as bad as the writing has been for AJ, it’s been just as bad for Sonny. Instead of evolving and growing as a man, Sonny is regressing and becoming one dimensional in his badness. He once was an anti hero of sorts, and now he’s just a villain.
Too many villains on GH right now. The few good guys that are left–Mac, Patrick and maybe Duke, are portrayed as being weak and in effective. Too bad the terrible writing drove away Tristan Rogers because Robert Scorpio managed to be a good guy while being strong and cooler than the other side of the pillow. I miss him.

Right on, Johnny. I cannot stomach Sonny much longer….the Michael Corleone “wanna” be. How do these low-life characters dare repudiate AJ when they only leave destruction in their wake? Sonny’s acting is deplorable….he should fess up and be the man he purports to be….he is a worm !!!
I also agree with your assessment of Olivia. She is a stupid puppet / marionette going through the motions of the worst acting I have ever seen. And, why is she suddenly a vamp? I cannot place her in this role. I chuckle because all I see is this little mousy woman dressed up for Halloween. For the love of Zeus!!!!! Writers, what are you doing? Gimme a break already! She has no clue….is she coming or going? And, what is this power that tiny-little Sonny has on these women? Yuck. I am so up-in-arms against Sonny, Carly, Ava, Luke, ….as far as I am concerned, flat-faced Ava and puny Sonny(not at all a mobster-look-alike) are not redeemable…so please, get rid of them!!!!????

I totally agree with you FAS about Sonny/Olivia/Ava – these 3 have got to go & never return – the writers need to put them some place else but not before everyone finds out that Sonny shot AJ because of lies Ava told him & this is when everyone needs to find out that Ava shot Connie & Olivia needs to just disappear totally… Sonny needs to either get killed off by either Luke or JulianJerome & Ava needs to end up in prison with Heather Webber as her cellmate w/Heather constantly terrorizing Ava until Ava loses her mind & goes crazy & ends up in nothing but straight jackets & Olivia with her mousey stupid ridiculous self–needs to just go away permanently & who cares where.

I totally agree w/Johnny—it is time for Sonny Corinthos to once & for all “bite the bullet” & lose everything including his life and/or his freedom – which ever one comes first—plus I am very sick & tired of AVA JEROME always getting away w/Murder… If Carly cannot tell Michael alone, then she definitely needs to tell her Uncle Luke Spencer that the Corinthos asshole is the one who shot AJ–especially since Uncle Luke is working w/Julian Jerome to take that Corinthos sob down…..So now I am ready for Corinthos & Ava Jerome both to get caught up in all their murders, lies & blackmail schemes so that even Morgan Corinthos will find out the real truth about his so-called Grandma Lover Girl Ava Jerome & his worthless sob of a Father Sonny Corinthos—but Sonny has overstayed his welcome on GH & it is time for him to roll on up out of Genoa City – never ever to return again & the same for Ava Jerome – I’d like to see her in prison w/Heather Weber as cellmates & Heather terrorizes Ava’s ass to run her crazy as only Heather can do..

carly will tell Michael sonny shot aj

carly should tell micheal the truth

Carly is definitely in a horrible place, either way Michael will be devastated and he will go thru a transformation. Michael blames himself for the coma because he gave the ok for the surgery; but if he finds out that Sonny went back on his word, and shot A.J. In his chest instead of,maybe just shooting him in the leg if he thought Ava was being attacked by A.J. I honestly do not think the writers could ever repair Michael and Sonny ‘ S relationship when it is finally revealed.

Carly will keep the secret..
she will protect her son Michael from the truth that would destroy him..
also- Sonny/Maurice Benard is not leaving GH so he will never go to prison..

unless the actor is leaving they will not go to prison, especially a star..
(well maybe if they are going on a 3 month vacation lol)
So- Sonny is safe ..

Sonny is like a cockroach that way.

Of course she will I mean when did Carly ever have morals or ethics? I mean she is sleeping with Franco she hated AJ like he did anything worse then Sonny or Franco.

I just rewatched the scene with Nickolas and Liz at his engagement party. Im so glad he threw her out of the house. I just don’t see what she brings to the table on this show. To me, she is an Amy Vinning and should never be a lead, for many obvious reasons,…..
I wouldn’t want to be Carly, right now. S

I wouldn’t want to be Carly right now. She couldn’t stand A.J, she is fonder of Sonny, but Michael is hurting and IS…… her son.
Love the 3 Carly’s, especially the current one, with the Farrah Fawcett hair texture and eyes. Better body than Farrah, but at that time, Farrah was considered a 10, because “white girls ” during Farrah’s time were not curvacious, like Laura White (Carly).

How many times and with how many different actors do we have to watch A.J. Q die? Billy Warlock is out of work-are we going to have to go through this AGAIN again? Again? Ron, et al: please, no. No.
Also: I adore Laura Wright; she’s a national treasure, as far as I’m concerned…but, is it just me or is she sorta phoning this in? I don’t blame her-between Leslie “The Joker” Carlson and the bloated corpse of Deacon Sharpe, I’d be checked out as well. Love her, though-I ain’t hatin’.

Of course she won’t tell on him. Michael will probably figure it out on his own, if he ever knows what really happened. Sonny C. is written on GH just like Victor N. is written on Y&R and any viewer who thinks that either one will EVER actually pay for their crimes is seriously delusional.

the obvious choice would be for carly to choose not to spill the beans, but for michael to find out anyway and find himself betrayed by sonny and his mother, cue a big reveal episode and couple of weeks of angst, only for it to be forgotten again. as i said, that would be the obvious choice, i sincerely hope i’m proven wrong.

My give a damns busted. They can take this show and stuff it. Sonny ruins everything. What do you expect from carley? She is sleeping with the man who brought on Michaels rape. I think RC and RV are the ones with brain tumors. If they have a brain that is.

Sing it, sister!

She will forever keep his secrets no matter what they may be.

This would be hard for anyone including Carly whose never been know to do the right thing plus she’s always protected sonny or jason for their ” crimes “. However with mike in the mix this will eat at her yet with Ava also in the mix Carly will do something for sure..

Carly better tell the world that Sonny shot AJ or she is unredeemable to me.

This is the woman who is sleeping with the man who orchestrated her virgin son’s prison rape, I don’t think she’s going to step up for her son here either.
Remember the Carly who said she’s kill to protect her children? Instead of three Carly’s coming to haunt Sonny, why not have SJB and TB come back and bytch slap LW’s Carly ?

She won’t, at least not yet. She needs to find out why Sonny is protecting Ava. Once she figures out she shot Connie instead of AJ, sh** is gonna hit the fan. I sense a catfight coming between Ava and Carly, and Sonny will have egg on his face big time.

How many years is this going to take?

I see Carly keeping Sonny’s secret. I also don’t see her finding out about Ava being there when Sonny shot AJ — unless Sonny tells her. And how is she going to figure out that Ava shot Connie? That is asking a little too much from Carly who is blind as a proverbial bat about Sonny and every other man she ever slept with.

Can we hope that Sonny finally figures out that Ava shot Connie and then he takes out Ava? I doubt it. Sonny is incapable of deep thinking and planning. He always flies off half-cocked without all of the information he needs to make a rational judgement. He has been like this for years. He jumps, leaps, to conclusions without adequate information.

Didn’t Ava shoot AJ?

Sonny did it…

No, Sonny shot him. But Ava did kill Connie and framed him for it so you could say her actions led to Dummy killing AJ. Too many bad guys on GH right now.

She was about to, but AJ wrangeled the gun out of her hands and started chocking her. Sonny walked in while AJ was choking Ava and thought of how AJ choked Connie. He picked up the gun and yelled at AJ mentioning things like “how could you hurt a defensless woman.” AJ tried to explain himself but Sonny would have none of it. He shot AJ before the truth came out.

GH’s preview mentioned Steve Hardy, Jessie Brewer and a few other former characters…will we be seeing them at the hospital again in old clips or will lookalike stand in be used? I mean their names was mentioned so will they be used for the 51st anniversary somehow…just wondering?

I didn’t think AJ wasn’t going to make it.. Surprised his character was killed off..

Unless there’s proof I’m going out on a limb and say Monica faked his death yet again! It seemed too easy yesterday- she staged that whole death scene to whisk him away to some clinic, and in the future there will be a recast.

I think she faking his death. He is alive.

Frankly her telling Michael will be the better story. Having someone keep another secret has no entertainment value– the secret has to come out. I don’t understand how Michael stayed so sweet and wide innocent after being in prison and raped— but my hope is finding out Sonny shot AJ will make Michael a more interesting character, give him an edge.
We have seen glimpses of his darker side, but now it is time for this character to embrace his inner Q and get as ruthless as his grandfather Edward could be, as well as Tracy and all the Q’s. I don’t want him to become a mindless thug or bloodthirsty mobster– just lose the idealism and stop being so naive and trusting– and rejecting Sonny and becoming a true Q will make this bland character more watchable for this soap gal. So tell him Carly — lets make this transformation happen.

I dont’ know that this matters too much….

as Michael, the actor : couldn’t act his way outa a paper bag

michael and sonny never had any chemistry

how can Carly align herself with Michael… if she loves Franco

it would seem all Ava has to do is lie low.. and let Carly and Sonny have at each other

———–

yikes… I don’t know about this… badly written… with poor performers…

yikes…. Anthony Geary is who???

this story doesn’t ring true either…. Luke looks like death warmed over

I’m really not liking where the Luke story is going…if this is really Luke. Really didn’t like the sampling of the product yesterday. Hoped they’d at least keep the drug thing out of GH storyline. In a perverse way that soaps have, it could provide a way for Sonny to be a hero when he finds out and is so anti-drug in his territory.

Yeah, and he expects people to believe that Kiki, the image of youth, made a pass at HIM?. I’m that age…and, oh yuck and double yuck. Luke’s rheumy, lashless eyes make me want to puke. For all her witticism, smarty-pants Traci is acting like a gullible moron. Do the writers really want us to buy this stupidity? Why is there not a plot that makes sense or that is palatable? This soap seems to be written by amateurs….where’s the beef?….. That’s what my Mom said.

I know that Sonny will never be punished for his disgusting deeds but I hope they have Carly tell Michael and he cuts Sonny off for good. That would be punishment for Sonny. I would love to see Michael turn to the Q’s (what’s left of them) and become like his grandfather and rebuild the Q empire. I am sure that Monica, Tracy and Ned would join forces with him to take Sonny down.

I totally agree with you Mary F–make Michael become a “real Quartermaine” & make his character finally become a MAN….cutting Corinthos totally out of his life & teaming up with his Uncle Luke to help take Sonny Corinthos down as Uncle Luke is already working with Julian Jerome to do & also for Julian to find out that his dear sister Ava is the one who shot Connie so that he will be able to take her butt down too….It’s time out now for Ava Jerome & Sonny Corinthos…Also something needs to be done about Dr. Orbrecht once & for all….& someone needs to find out why Elizabeth is acting strange & put 2/2 together & figure out that Orbrecht is holding her hostage w/ the baby Ben…

You would have thought… that… all things considered… AJ, would have told Carly, FIRST, that it was Ava who shot Connie… and then… told, Carly… that sonny shot him

this is all – obvious drama… that, NOW… this triangle – oh what a web we weave… that Ava is in the clear… or so we think

ava and sonny have this alliance… will any one believe Carly…

all ava and sonny have to do is say AJ is lying… ???

and now… sonny has to align himself with Carly ???

it’s convoluted… in any means…

LOL I just confused myself… thought I had it figured out…

AJ could have cleared himself with Carly…

so now this story continues… with the “heavy hitters” keeping mum and lying

all at a standstill… if you ask me

where does GH go from here?

oh what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive!

Monica faked A.J.’s death AGAIN!!!!!

I think so, she didn’t seem too upset when the “death” happened– most mothers would have insisted they keep trying– and although it is soap time they didn’t really work on him that long before giving up– there was just enough there that should some future writer wishes to bring him back from the dead, yet again, they could– explain how AJ came out his “coma” if he ever was in one, told Monica all about Sonny and Ava trying to kill him, with Ava trying again in hospital room. She could have devise the scheme to fake his death, so Sonny and Ava would think he was dead– and some day in the future, whenever it suited a writer bring back a recast AJ- they have a plausible story. I have watched too many deaths on soaps where the person didn’t really die, I rarely ever believe anyone really died anymore.

there it is again: LOVE fans mindset : Mother rests her brood…

and/or Monica gets the lay of the land… and havocs for “HER” child

Monica : it’s more than she can bear…. imbibes – lets go

this is Monica’s only way to protect AJ

———–

at the minimum… lest RC/FV actually listen to FANS

this IS better than any thing of late

A Quartermaine setting lying in wait

I thought that too until i read A.J. is going to make a few more appearances as a ghost…unless…whoever he appears to…its their mind playing tricks on them!

I agree Mary and Patrick but doesn’t it seem a little redundant? And will AJ come back as Michael Muhney?

Disagree AJ is dead RC just does not want to write for him. I am however concerned for LC/Monica is it me or does she look ill. I know she has had some plastic surgery but she really looks like she is not feeling well? I like LC she really in her day was a powerhouse I still say she deserved that emmy for her breast cancer storyline.

@k/kay @jimh — I do believe AJ is dead for now, my point is they left enough leeway that should they wish to ever bring him back there were enough loose ends to weave a plausible way to get him out of his death; not that any currant writer like RC has any such plans at the moment to do so.
But isn’t it standard practice on most soaps nowadays that all deaths are written in such a way that there is always a loophole. For me the loophole was the way AJ always managed to awake from his “coma” at just at the right time–like when Ava was trying to cut off his air—or just before surgery so he could clear Julian, and then just before he died so he could tell Carly who shot him, which suggests to me, his condition may not have been what we were lead to believe it was. But yes, for now he is dead, but whether he will stay dead is another matter onethat might not be answered for years.

As for the ghost– my take is soap ghosts aren’t literal ghosts, because none of the characters seem a bit startle to see them– for me soap ghosts are more the character imagining their loved one being there, and we the viewers see on screen what is actually happening inside the character’s mind. jmo— so it is possible to see AJ ghost, but in 2 yrs have AJ walk among the living again– not saying it will happen, just saying they left the door open.

I’m with you Mary, I think Monica faked his death again. What is burning my behind is when is that beyotch Ava gonna get hers?? Also, I am completely hating the Luke storyline, it “blows” (pun intended).

I think the real Luke is hid somewhere, and being replaced with Jerry Jacks, after plastic surgery. Is that too farout?

Not really. Luke could be anyone at this point, so you may be right. However, Luke could be Luke with a fried brain. All these machinations for what? To destroy Sonny? Just when I thought Julian was up there at the top, Luke shows up seemingly holding the reins. I had finals so I am just catching up……I don’t like where any of the storylines is going. I would love to write for GH….I would make the writer’s job so much easier….I would just throw Sonny in the river….sweet irony…lol.
I also have reservations about AJ’s death. I can’t make up my mind whether what we saw (AJ following Emily and Alan up the “stairway to heaven”…..guffaw), was real or all in Monica’s head. So, there is a chance that he may be “resurrected”? I wish I had more of a grasp on GH but it’s getting weirder and weirder.

I think Carly should tell Michael. The story needs to move forward so Connie’s real killer is reveal. Also Sonny and Carly need to realize A.J. was not that bad and that Sonny was wrong to be judge and jury not knowing the whole truth.

Since neither Sonny nor Ava are leaving Port Charles or the show, there doesn’t seem to be a way for Carly to expose the secret…unless she does and they keep it amongst themselves. Could be interesting to see a conflicted Michael turn against Sonny which would probably be worse for Sonny than jail…and like some said above maybe they could start rebuilding the Q’s. I would like to see Michaels alliance completely switch to AJ…that his love for Aj…his recognition at how he was stolen from AJ…that the father he’s known and loved all his life, Sonny…actually took him and brutally threatened his real father from ever having contact with him.

The entire saga of AJ Quatermaine has always been tragic; the fact that they killed him off AND provoked Sean Kanan to leave (unless he was actually fired…) is beyond galling to me. So, in the wake of all this damage I hope AJ is redeemed dead or alive. Paleeeez!

I’m with you, rebecca1! Now that AJ has been so cruelly and unnecessarily dispatched from the Port Charles canvas, I hope to at least see his reputation restored. The shabby treatment that both the actor and his character received at the hands of “Cartini” truly was beyond the pale and completely off-putting…..maybe the real story behind Sean’s departure will eventually emerge. Having said that, today’s episode was just devastating….saying goodbye to our beautiful, wronged man AJ was heartbreaking, but it really was Sean’s finest hour. He did a most admirable and dignified job under what must have been very difficult circumstances, yet ever the professional, he succeeded magnificently. GH certainly won’t ever be the same without him…..it’s their loss, and ours!!!!! :`(

Amazing how one can feel the loss of and indignation for fictitious characters…but AJ is a perfect example. The only thing I’d change in your reply Shay is the word “restored.” AJ unfortunately always got a bad rap…there’s nothing to restore. I think vindicated (for not just Connie but for so many grievances against him) would be the operative word here!

I agree with you also. I truly had a soft spot for AJ……so misunderstood…..so endearingly pathetic !!!! I believe that TPTB treated Sean shabbily, to say the least……such a great , refined actor, is he. Instead of banishing him, his talent should have been cultivated….I would have loved to have seen AJ grow as a father, a son, and as the head of the company. However, too much credence and credit is placed in Maurice’s/Sonny’s lap. Rebecca said it….this storyline could have and should have gone another way….having AJ at the helm . It would be great if Michael were to be given that opportunity now, in his father’s stead. I hope Sonny gets what he deserves, that is, Michael’s hate….that will hurt more than anything else…..if his love for him is as true as he says it is.

I could not have said it better myself, Rebecca1. I ditto everything you posted. Neither Ava nor Sonny is leaving? I really thought Maura West was leaving….I must have heard a false rumor. Very disappointing! This is childish of me, but, between her and Sonny, I don’t know whom I detest more.

Thank you FAS. Not childish…viewer-esque! 🙂

Seeing Ava leave Port Charles appears to be only a pipedream at this point, FAS! She now seems comfortably poised to become the “Queen Bee of Port Charles,” yet her vaunted leading lady status (courtesy of “Cartini”) only serves to make her even more grating. In small doses, she was somewhat tolerable….certainly not my cup of tea as the faux retroglam poseur, but to keep her front and center in all of her graceless, gloating and glorified malevolence is just TOO much! (Her nearly constant presence is putting her dangerously close to the reviled Sabrina territory we were subjected to for far too long.) Ensconcing her in an alliance with Sonny is proving to make her even more unbearable… too great an emphasis has already been placed on this Jerome mob storyline. I truly hope that it is not dragged out for much longer despite the showrunners’ obvious fascination and enchantment with it and their nefarious creatures.

Thank you very much, FAS! I have had a lifelong love of writing…and I am glad that it sometimes shows!!!!! ; )

I agree “vindicated” is an excellent choice of word, rebecca1….also redeemed to some extent. I suppose I chose restored because for all of his foibles and character faults, AJ wasn’t truly bad….especially during these last few years….his personage was hideously misjudged and impugned (most of all by Carly and Sonny, followed closely by Tracy….) yet his only “crime” was falling victim to his weakness for alcohol. Since he didn’t do the misdeeds for which he was actually accused, I meant that his reputation, name and place in society as a Quartermaine would eventually be restored as a respectable one when the truth is finally revealed that he was, in fact, Ava’s fall guy. Then again, as long as the current regime is in charge, I fully expect the Alan Jr. moniker to be regularly trashed and bashed in perpetuity….lack of actual guilt notwithstanding!!!! It will be the gift from Ron that keeps on giving (ala Frisco Jones!)

You should win an award for your vividly descriptive writing, Shay !!

@rebecca1…In reference to your notion regarding our shared sense of “loss and indignation” over Sean Kanan’s (and AJ’s) farewell from the GH landscape, I have a few final thoughts: for me, the emotion is three-fold. Primarily, we have been unnecessarily robbed of an excellent actor in the person of SK from our daily viewing pleasure. I had a strong admiration for him (and his considerable talent) due to his classic, throwback style….and I mean that in the best possible way! He seemed to be one of the last remaining of that dying breed of polished, professional gentlemen that used to be de rigueur for all successful daytime dramas. Secondly, the spiteful, reprehensible death of the Quartermaine crown prince (and rightful heir to the family dynasty) signaled the near extinction of a clan that has enjoyed great prominence in Port Charles society for decades….so many of the most memorable storylines of yesteryear led directly to the steps of their mansion. It is beyond sad to see their presence diminished to a few veterans and a smattering of youthful players, but no longer any proud and active representatives on a regular basis. Lastly, and perhaps most tragically, the jarring absence of the character of AJ has been so deeply felt because he was immensely real and relatable (not one of those over-the-top, fantastical, campy creatures that are becoming the norm on the program)….how many of us have personally known our own “Alan Jr.,” (or two or three????) You know, that heartbreakingly beautiful, privileged, yet impossible type of guy that just cannot seem to get it quite right no matter how hard he tries???? Sean totally captured the essence of that endearing sort, and so AJ’s journey for meaning and redemption in a sense also became ours….hence, to see it culminate so brutally and incompletely was a real slap in the face…maybe a bit too realistic, as this is also how life sometimes goes???? At any rate, this particular “ending” has had a far greater resonance than any other in recent GH history. While we may have enjoyed vigorously debating the pros/cons and comings/goings of other Port Charles denizens in the past, this departure/conclusion has somehow produced a more somber yet incredulous reaction because the result was simply too cavalier, sorrowful and unjust.

carly keep sonny secret please your want to hurt sonny michael needs a father not both gone sonny should stay in let ava take the blame ava killed sonny wife connie she needs be in jail

michael needs too have father on the show michael just lost aj michael needs too sonny has a father

you can kill ava ava is the one that did it ava killed connie thats sonny wife

carly you just lost jasper jacks are married too sonny also you really want to hurt your husband and your kids don’t do this

I can’t believe Carly is not going to spill the truth to Michael. I just have reservations about her reasoning…is it legit? …. This would have been the perfect opportunity to get rid of Sonny…let him rot in jail. His acting is really deplorable…he does not belong in front of the camera. I realize Maurice is suffering from depression and is taking meds in real life (I am sorry for his suffering), but he stumbles and trips over his words. He catches himself but not before making a fool of himself. It is time to close this book, writers !! Release him from this misery and us from ours, please !!! He is getting worse and can’t seem to hold it together. Does anyone else feel this way?

Does anyone think AJ might still be alive? Maybe this is all a setup to trap AJ’s killer?

I don’t know about it being a trap. But, one never knows. I think AJ could still be alive. The only thing is, Monica was truly mourning, or it seemed that way. She had no audience to convince, her pain seemed genuine, so what would have been the point? Plus, what was the celestial stairway about….I don’t know. I’ll be married with children by the time that happens…which is 100 years down the pike.lol.
The shocker/reveal for me was the fact that Ava did not kill the pharmacist….which probably means she did not kill Nina. So, what to think, what to think….hmmmm. Donna Mills (can’t remember her character’s name) hated The marriage between Silas and Nina so much that she concocted this coma business( with assistance, of course)…. She probably has Nina hidden away somewhere, and true to GH, one of our beloved villains has his/her hand in it. Donna Mills has always been convinced that Silas only married Nina for her money, so she had a plan….and so here we are. Am I making any sense?

I think Carly should tell Michael the truth about Sonny shooting A.J.

I think A.J. could still be alive to set up his killer and I think the writers for GH should have a story line where A.J. seeks revenge on Sonny for the way he was treated by him for years. A scene where A.J. kicks the crap out of Sonny, like Jager did to Sonny years ago.

MMMMM…..that sounds delicious, Shiva !!! ( what a besutifully exotic name, Shiva is)

Please bear with me, Shiva. I meant that Sonny getting his would be delicious…..a good old fashioned beating, not your name. You must think I’m some kind of freak…I’m not…really!

Hopefully, Carly will chase down everything she can find on Ava. She will uncover the Ava connection and the only way Ava will let her keep her mouth shut is blackmail her. Meanwhile, who is Kikis real mom. I am betting Nina is. I am betting that Ava took the baby and a big handsome reward for doing so. Saving the fortune that Madeline had control over. ‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
