General Hospital's Billy Miller and Laura Wright Talk Jake and Carly, CarSon Wedding & New Head Writers!

On ABC’s General Hospital, Jake (Billy Miller) and Carly (Laura Wright) have become fast friends, only both of them don’t know the little fact and bombshell that Jake is really Jason Morgan (or Quartermaine).

Daytime Emmy winner’s Billy Miller and Laura Wright have developed the close on-screen relationship, in which Laura was previously teamed with Steve Burton’s Jason (Dylan, Y&R) in the role.  However, during a sit-down chit-chat with On-Air On-Soaps Michael Fairman at the just completed ABC TCA Summer Press Tour, the duo discuss creating the friendship and more.

Later, Laura reveals that she is getting ready to tape the wedding of Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly.  Will CarSon actually say their, “I do’s?”  Will Jake be Carly’s “Best Person” during the nuptials?  Laura gives us some teasers.

Of course, one of the big questions on everyone’s mind is when will Jake truly, and finally, learn he is really Jason?  Laura and Michael bet on November Sweeps, but does Billy feel the same?  Finally, Laura and Billy weigh-in on what they think the new head writing regime (which started this week) of Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante means for the 52-year-old soap opera, and what they will bring to the table.

After the jump, watch Billy and Laura’s video interview.   Then let us know:  Do you enjoy Jake and Carly’s growing friendship?  Do you think CarSon will get hitched?  How long do you think it will take for Jake to find out he is Jason … this November Sweeps, or perhaps February 2016 Sweeps?  And what did you think of Laura and Billy’s comments on the writing regime change in Port Charles? Comment below!

Laura Wright and Billy Miller should give classes on how promote GH in a way that’s decidedly positive without seeming like they’re just mouthpieces for the network. And please may the Jake reveal be soon.

lol
they were not ”promoting GH” they were simply talking with Michael about GH stuff..
It was fun seeing them together off stage 🙂

su0000, they may love their jobs and all but they are absolutely promoting GH. Anytime they speak about their show, they are promoting it. It’s part of what’s expected of them professionally. As Debra says, they do it with grace and ease.

They were at the ABC TCA summer press tour su0000! what part of promoting don’t you get? you sure take the cake for most annoying know it all.

This guy is so outta here and I wouldn’t blame him.

What an absolute joke this role has been and he knows it.

Love Laura.

Your right, he is saying what he should say and being a company soldier but he has to hate this character. It must be like walking in quicksand EVERY day!

Frank V….who can top his writing? Let’s see?? Or not.

(Tapping foot while waiting for the avalanche of responses which will correct Cathy for referring to Frank as the writer)

Wheres su0000 at?

frank v is the exec producer not a writer…………………

Thanks Billy for taking the high road and saying what a hard job it is to be a writer. Most of the things RC wrote I was not a big fan of but I am very tired of actors at fan events or in interviews trash talking. Simply say keep watching we are expecting good things to happen. Sorry though I still miss your take on Billy Abbott oh well time marches on.

Love the interview. Love Jarly, the fab 3 and I cant wait for both Sonny and Carly to know Jake is Jason. I also hope Jason will be at S&C wedding

People are going nuts with the length of time the Jason story is taking. If they push this out you can plan on losing more viewers so I don’t buy the Feb 2016 timetable.

well, actually-
it is the Jake story. lol
Jason has not yet emerged.. but will be very soon, the time is near.
but- I’m luvin Jake..

It was obvious that RC was writing Jason to go back to being a Quartermain..
That was obvious with Jake and Mona’s heartfelt bonding / their scene was touching awesome!

Carly and Sonny remind me of J.R. and Sue Ellen. They work better apart than together. “I love you, but I can’t live with you.” Carly and Sonny will inevitably break up. I’d rather see it before the wedding than after.

One thing I notice about Billy Miller is that he is always in control of his image. He is a kind, sweet guy but also very in control of what he wants to get out into the public eye. I love this man. I mean not only good looking but a pure bundle of talent. Laura Wright is always so bubbly and sweet which I always love. I am so glad both of them work together. I love the characters and I love their exchanges with each other….

Great people!

Nice interview, they were very playful! Lord I hope that the truth about Jason is revealed WAY BEFORE November! I want Liz to be publicly humiliated!

Aww thanks for this. Love the Jake/Jason and Carly friendship. Hope we get to see more of it. Right from the get go these two had great on screen chemistry (just as friends though).
As for the reveal, I’m guessing November too, or at least hoping. This has gone on long enough. Even though I do love Jake/Jason and Elizabeth together. The truth needs to come out.
Billy Miller, ever the diplomat. Excited to see what the new writers have to offer too. But I think RC did a lot of good for GH too.

Sorry but I was disappointed, basically they said nothing. Usually Michael’s interviews are so good.

That’s exactly what I thought–didnt say much. I like them both, but both could not have been more PC. Either they really didn’t have more to say or just didnt want to go there, wherever there was.
I wish someone could give me a date of the reveal so I could stop watching until that date. Will we have a year or two until we find out who killed Silas? Wait, we have to have the reveal first of Ava being Ava. Sheesh, I dont mind slow moving–it is a soap after all–but slow as molasses in january.

Well you know that old song you say it better when you say nothing at all! I can’t wait to see him bust out with Disney tunes when he finds out he is Jason Quaretermine not Morgan and what makes you guys think he will turn on Liz he is in love with her not Sam . Sam the mumbling Annie Oakley despise the character

Not really a Sam hater, I can take her or leave her, but you are right about Jake, he loves Elizabeth. That has never wavered, in all the time we’ve seen him, he has never shown even the slightest romantic interest in anyone else but her. When he gets his memories back, I do not expect him to just turn off his love for Liz. That would make no sense from what we have seen. It’s a mess no matter which way you slice it, because he’s married to Sam. But he is in love with Elizabeth and that had better not change.

Kay–that is brilliant! Brilliant, I tell ya!
Sam, the mumbling Annie Oakley indeed! She also has to be the worst dressed woman in daytime history. Leggings, Jeggings and tank tops oh my! And of course, the aforementioned attire is worn with 6 inch stiletto heels.
I am afraid that Miss Lizzy is heading for a great fall. I do hate what they’ve done to this character.

But Harry, the other day, Sam looked absolutely smashing in that chic black ensemble….a lovely, modest (for her…) cap sleeved, scoop-neck summer-weight sweater and trendy wide-legged black trousers. (And yes, she probably did have the platform shooties on with it, but why quibble? As someone who has her own affection for four-inch stilettos, I shall not cast stones….) I still have to give the wardrobe department kudos on that one….now, if they could just do something about the blowsy Alexis and her obsessive cleavage-heaving garb! Now THAT woman is an absolute fashion disaster!

Love Sam why are you throwing shade on Sam?

Love Jason and Sam
.bring it on

I love Laura Wright and Billy Miller, they are wonderful actors.

They both have the gold statutes……..

Robert – I love both of them too! Great actors and they seem like really nice people.

Very cute interview! Love their teasing relationship on- and off-screen and Billy’s diplomatic answers! I hope Carly can live up to her word at the Nurses Ball and have Jake’s back even if it means supporting him and Elizabeth! and I hope for more scenes of the Jarly friendship!

OMG I’M SO SICK OF ELIZABETH AND JASON STORY ENOUGH , IM READY TO STOP WATCHING GH UNTIL THIS STORY IS OVER IM TIRED OF HER DOUBLE STANDARD… SHES SICKIING .. ENOUGH .. WE FANS KNOW JASON And SAM WOULD BE TOGETHER IF THEY KNEW THE TRUTH,, HERE HOPING SAM SMACKS THE SHIT OUT OF LIZ THE PHONY, BIGGEST HOE ON SOAPS .. DRAGGIN ON TO LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG….

So over Sonny, the mob, and family. And they better reveal Jason soon cause it’s growing very tiresome….kinda like the Fluke storyline drawn-out for an eternity till no one cared or remembered what the storyline was even about.

The Fluke story was the same length as most all soap tories..
It seemed much longer because Tony was gone for 6 months/half a year..
It went into motion once again when Tony returned and got his 8th emmy for it 🙂
Also-
Jason’s revele was put back because to reveal Jason during Tony’s exit, would not work, it would less effective..

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…..oh hell, screw Dickens and screw Fluke! It really was just the worst of times.

Congrats to Rebecca Herbst for 18 years of Liz Webber this year it is you and a few others that have made GH what it is you go you gorgeous lady inside and out!!!!

WTF does this have to do wBilly miller and Laura Wright?

Absolutely nothing just found a thread to give a shout out to an actress who has been on this show for a long time and given some great performances. Maybe when you shower on it you might want to wash your mouth out with soap also.

Dear WTF:

I think your handle and response is way out of proportion to what Kay wrote. I also think it was rather rude.
The subject of Miss Lizzy has come up because of the impending prospect of the great Jason reveal. Moreover, it is in keeping with GH.
So yes, Miss Lizzy is connected to Carly and Jason/Jake and therefore has something to do with Billy Miller and Laura Wright.
Now what kind of soap do you want to use for your mouth?

LMAO….

Becky/Liz fans are so transparent. You guys are so desperate to have her name anywhere, anytime when it has nothing to do with her. Pathetic in every sense of the word.

LOVE BILLY MILLER ….BUT THIS STORY LINE IS GETTING TO BE A JOKE…ENOUGH IS ENOUGH…ITS JASON!!!!!!!

This IS the pairing that always should have happened…. For me Jason will always love Carly more than anybody else. All i hope is that Jason remembers that.

Billy Miller & Laura Wright took the high road about the new writers. Too bad Maurice didn’t do the same this past Weekend. BTW, any thoughts of Billy Miller returning to Y&R are dead. He’s not going anywhere where Jill Ferret Phelps is the producer. He’s well-aware of her backstabbing conduct.

Don’t tease, June W. What did Maurice say about the new writers?

@June you know what the funny part of his comments were in 2015 out of 150 episodes MB was in 91 second to the most after Billy Miller who was in 99. But hey RC didn’t like him yep we are right back again to the Sonny & Jason show. Trust me I am not the huge fan of RC’s writing but I believe Maura West, Chad Duell and Tony Geary won their Emmys off of his writing. Owning a company for a long time like I have and having employees and also being on the other side you always leave with a smile because you never know when that person may show up again and be running the show.

I love everyone on General Hospital, but please tell Jake he is Jason

Thank you Billy Miller for having the class to say what you did about Ron and a writer’s job. All the more reason I hope and hope and hope Jason Morgan is dead FOREVER and Jason Q lives on. This man should not have to endure the mind-numbing actions of a borg/

Nicely done Michael! Enjoy your interview for you ask what we want to know!

after reading all these comments I hope the writers will finally reveal the Jake/Jason identity. Elizabeth
Is physco so she definitely needs physicalogical help. Her children should be taken away and she
Should be institutionalize … The story line by continuing makes her look crazier every day! This is
Fatal attraction for sure. She needs help!!! This needs to be over. I’m agree I would love to stop
Watching til the reveal is done!!

But fans love Elizabeth. I only enjoyed her with Lucky. I myself think she whines way too much. BUT it wasn’t that long ago, RH was let go and fans threw such a fit, they brought her back. I hope, when Jake finds out who knew, she is held accountable for her actions, FINALLY.

Not everyone likes Liz…she needs help is an understatement.. I prefer her to just be gone! Storyline is taking way too long..It really doesn’t matter to me if he is Jason Q or Jason M…just get it on out there…geesh..don’t ya think we’ve waited long enough!!
I love LW and BM !! I’ve watched BM when he was Richie Novak on AMC and that man can totally bring it!! He can play nice and sweet..but he can also do crazy and then some!!
LW is such a wonderful actress ..and seems to be honestly a real sweetie!

rc hw for 8 straight yrs ran both soaps into the ground. what a joke he was.
LW is not aging very well.

I luv billy n laura but i agree that the jake thing has gone on too long !!! GH writers come on put a little lift on it get it out already !!!! Luv u billy miller !!! I watch GH becuz of him n laura !!!

Laura is a sweetheart and to Billy’s credit, he just doesnt get caught up in all the gossip BS! I see Jason Q being revealed in November. I also got to ask, how long is Billy Miller’s contract? I can see him coming forward as Jason and then leaving the show! He has a hell of a negotiating tool if thats the case. Can you imagine waiting this long for him to find out his identity and then leaving!

Omg. Didn’t think of that AT all

What’s so different about soap opera actors sitting in a room junket style promoting whatever it is they are doing? I mean just because you are promoting doesn’t mean your are just acting solely on the behalf of the studio. Very pleasant and tactful. I get the impression people want to hear Ron talked about negatively. Maurice and Tony the big ego centric alpha male pre madonna’s already expressed enough of that. Good Goin Laura and Billy

@lwjw is my girl ❤ writers,,Please don’t let us down. #GHlastmanstanding

love the new Jason, he has grew on me, and I love the friendship between him and Carly, now just get him back with Sam and let Elizabeth get what she deserve

They best not drag this Jake Jason thing to November I will be very upset

I liked the interview and hought both actors were pleasant, however neither one revealed any spoilers, per say. I can’t wait for the reveal, and then to see BM seize control of the Jason character and really make it his own. I’ve seen him in roles where there was good writing, and the guy is multidimensional. He’ll bring his A game and turn this thing around, if only they’ll give him some good material to work with.

They said a whole lot of nothing. Billy is so out of here next year! Don’t blame him. He didn’t join the show to be saddled to a B actress like “Liz”.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

on

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
