General Hospital's Jane Elliot Comments On Her Daytime Emmy Nomination!

When every you talk to any actor or actress in daytime they are always blown away by the talent of Jane Elliot of General Hospital.  Jane is as good as it gets!  And this past week, Elliot landed a nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for this year’s 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards!

But what is stunning about this, and hard to believe, is that the last time Jane won in this category was 1981, that was 33 years ago! And more intriguing was this is the first time in 20 years that she allowed herself to even be submitted in the competition!

So how come now Jane decided its time to enter the fray again?   Here’s what she told TV Guide Magazine’s Michael Logan on what went down:  “As usual, I said no and (GH executive producer) Frank Valentini put his foot down and would not take no for an answer. That is how much he believes in me, how much he cares. I have never had a producer go out of his or her way to support me the way Frank does. (Former GH executive producer) Gloria Monty refused to submit me for the Emmy the year I won, so I submitted myself just because I was so pissed that she refused to do it! Frank is the only one who ever said, ‘You’ll be submitted this year, whether you like it or not. It’s not up for discussion.’ And, so, here we are. Submitting myself for awards feels like a weird kind of horn-blowing that’s not comfortable for me. I’m really happy when someone likes my work but I don’t like marketing myself, putting myself on display. For an actor, I’m an odd duck. So I don’t know what to tell you. Ooh! (Laughs) Yes I do know what I can tell you! Deidre Hall broke her arm so I don’t know who’s going to do my roots for the Emmys.”

Jane Elliot is locked in for the win. She is one of the best actresses in the genre IMO. I am so happy that Frank Valentini made her submit herself this year.

She is one of my favorites i hope will win…my only problem with Tracy…a smart business woman…blinded by love…doesnt realize there is something not right about Luke!!!

Being a good business woman doesnt necessarily make you a good at relationships. Tracy is older, her choices are dwindling, but most of all, she loves Luke and when you love someone you tend to look beyond the obvious.

Some actors may not care about winning awards but just wants to do the best job he or she can do.So Jane Elliot might be that kind of actress but i’m happy Frank Valentini made her submit this year.Plus i think she has a good chance of winning this year.

if it means… every actor on the 4 remaining shows… should submit… to over ride… CBS’ block voting… with 2 shows… versus one each for ABC and NBC.

then it should be done : it’s laugh out loud… how many nominations Y&R railroads

Jane Elliott : congratulations .

Thank You for giving the audience… A Quartermaine… plugging along tour de force I might add… with Monica

Very happy for Jane. She deserves whatever recognition she gets. Anything she’s been given to work with over the years, good storyline, bad storyline, whatever the case might be, she’s always brought it 110% every time. She’s always flown under the radar when it came to awards, and I never realized it was her personal choice. I respect her even more for that. But I’m glad that changed this year. It was a long overdue nomination, and I really hope she wins.

I am so excited for JE and GH for this one! She is most deserving of recognition.

Many of us go to our jobs everyday and many of us work hard and never get an award. I think thats what Jane is saying. She doesnt need an Emmy to know she is content. Glad to see she was nudged to submit a scene. Good luck to all those nominated.

I agree.Plus i think Jane might be happier that Frank Valentini believes in her enough to want her to submit than her getting nominated.

If Frank really cared he would fire re-ron and get a real writer. When she was on GL she blew me away. ON GH they have her relish fighting ,not seeing what fluke is and I don’t know what they submitted but Jane is an actress.. She is talented that’s for sure.

No shade, but what storyline did she have this past year that warrants an emmy nomination? She is a very nuanced actor but i didnt see anything unusually brilliant this year.

That’s my question, too. Still, I hope she wins!!

General Hospital’s Cynthia Watros Delivers The ‘Power Performance of the Week’

Friday’s episode of General Hospital combined with Tuesday’s episode of the ABC daytime drama series, saw Daytime Emmy-winner, Cynthia Watros, run through the gamut of emotions in her portrayal of the duped Nina Reeves on her wedding day and the aftermath.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: After Learning The Truth About Sasha; Nina Leaves Her Wedding To Valentin ... With Jax

Watros, who made Annie Dutton of Springfield and Guiding Light one of the most memorable soap roles of all-time, showed GH viewers why she is just THAT good!  We have always said that Cynthia can play: drama, romance, torture, cray-cray, heartbreak all rolled-into-one; especially when given the material.

Courtesy/ABC

In story, after part of the secret is out that Sasha (Sofia Matteson) is not really Nina’s bio-daughter – Nina, who has had everything she believed in fall in on her, tries to regain her strength to go back to Wyndemere to face Valentin, and move out of his house.  Once there to get her things, Nina tells Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) that where she goes is no longer his business.

Valentin admits that he was looking for her daughter which caused this whole situation, but he also does not admit his part in the Sasha cover-up and that he was the one paying her to portray Nina’s daughter.  He even goes so far to insist that Sasha’s actions were all her own.  Nina still does not believe him.  After she packs her bag, and heads for the door. Valentin tells her that his life is meaningless without her. Nina basically says, “True, that” in so many words … and makes her exit.

Next, with sunglasses on, Nina returns to the workplace at Crimson where she finds Sasha with Michael (Chad Duell) and Lucy (Lynn Herring).  She calls security and tells them all to get out.  Sasha then spins a yarn, much to the chagrin of the audience, knowing that if she implicates Liesl (Kathleen Gati) and Valentin, Nina would be devastated.  So, Sasha says she acted alone and faked being Nina’s daughter, when she was contacted by her attorney, and she was in cahoots with the guy … until he suddenly died!  What!?  Nina looks very suspicious… and throws back that how would Sasha know how to change three DNA test results.  Sasha had an answer for that – she had a friend who works in a lab do it.   Nina still believes she could not have done this alone without Valentin.  Then, in a heartbreaking speech, Watros as Nina shares how she has lost everything: her daughter, her marriage, hope she even had a daughter in the first place, and the list goes on.

And … let’s not forget Tuesday’s nuptials, which we gave our review and recap previously here.  It is there that Nina is first blindsided, and the betrayal, rage, and hurt displayed by Watros was all top-notch.  Here is Nina finally marrying the man she loves, whom she had to allow herself to come to trust all over again so she could be with him, even with all of the warning signs around her.  Not only does she have Lulu (Emme Rylan) spoil her nuptials with exposing the secret of Sasha, but then has to process the deception  which means to her that maybe she never had the child she so desperately wanted and believed she had all along.

The Friday cliffhanger though posed an upcoming intriguing scene.  Ava (Maura West) showed up with a bottle of booze to commiserate with Nina at Crimson (The same woman who Nina literally ripped the baby right out her and kidnapped it in a heinous revenge plot).  Will these two wronged woman team up?  Will there be hell to pay?  That is yet to be seen, but without a doubt, Cynthia Watros is Michael Fairman TV’s ‘Power Performance of the Week’.

James Patrick Stuart Finally Gets His Photo In The Hallways at General Hospital: Watch What Happens!

Where has James Patrick Stuart’s (Valentin Cassadine) photo been all this time from the dressing room area at General Hospital?  Well, looks like we may have the answer to that question!

In a brand new video ditty posted by the folks at GH, Stuart is seen combing the hallways looking for his portrait along with the other major stars of the ABC daytime drama series .. problem is … it’s MIA! Something James takes notice off.

Then, in a time-jump (LOL), Stuart finally gets his big moment when he officially joins the ranks of the cast with his photo being unveiled right next to Maurice Benard’s (Sonny) picture.

The tweet accompanying the video relates: “Contrary to Valentin’s opinion… @japastu is having the best week ever.”   Of course, the tweet refers to Stuart’s character who has just had a disaster-filled wedding to Nina (Cynthia Watros)

Watch what happens below.

Then let us know what you thought of the clip and how much you enjoy the talents of JPS in Port Charles via the comment section below.
