Genie Francis Talks On Her Return To GH, Fans Outcry Of Support & Her All-Time Favorite Storylines
On Tuesday, Genie Francis participated in a Satellite Media Tour with television stations and press outlets around the U.S. chatting it up on her return to her iconic role of Laura on ABC’s General Hospital.
Francis, who quickly wrapped-up her run after she was taken off-contract with the show back in January of this year, saw her and Laura exit Port Charles swiftly in a story-move that felt stilted to the audience.

After a huge outpouring of support on social media, GH fans cried foul on the play and wanted one of the series mainstays of all-time back where she belonged.
Francis elaborate it on that in our interview on seeing the show of support: “I couldn’t believe how long it went on and how big it was. I think part of that was it looked like they were finally giving me a story with the major storyline, and then they yanked it so quickly, and I think people felt cheated.”
GH listened and brought Genie back to the canvas with a new storyline that puts her front and center on the series, as Laura is unaware that her husband Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) is locked up in Ferncliff, while his evil twin Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) has taken his place. Now Laura is reeling from the strange behaviors being exhibited by her “husband”. Will she figure it out in time? Will she run for mayor again?

During her conversation with Michael Fairman TV and the Michael Fairman Channel, Genie touched on what she knew was going to be happening for Laura when she came to the show: “I knew we were going to start with the Ryan beat, which I thought was great. Everyone loves a good sociopath (laughs) and Jon (Lindstrom) is a wonderful actor. It makes for an exciting story!”
Genie goes on to say that she is: “Just happy to have story, because it’s awfully boring to just be hanging around. I don’t want to be window-dressing. If it came to that, I think I might just leave.”
As to if Laura has a vendetta against Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) who for all intent and purposes murdered her son, Nikolas, Genie weighed-in: “She absolutely has a vendetta. I think right now, Laura who has the biggest heart and is kind of like the heroine of the show in many ways – but this is the one person on the planet who she truly hates, and it would be interesting if she had to go through the exercise of forgiving him, but I also like that there is that one place where we can see all of that negativity and evil come out. I like that Laura has a dark side. I really like that.”

What do you think about Genie’s return to GH thus far and the sentiments shared in this interview? Comment below.
I’m overjoyed at Genie’s return. While I don’t like “evil twin” tales, it gives her something to get started with, that and the Mayoral race. I LOVE the way she “handles” Valentin (with a slap or a hand smash) and I hope they find a way for her to interact with Drew and/or Chase. Genie Francis brings class to the proceedings. We need that.
Yes, yes, and yes!
I do not like Laurashe is hard to stomach..
3 friends stooped in and we watch GH together and when Ryan stabled her in the stomach and the knife was sticking in her all bloody, cheers when up!!
There was applause for Ryan..
but–
I said it’s just a dream/whatever they won’t kill Laura too many like her..
ahaa then Amber said ”well, when she is killed off we’ll have a Dead Laura cake and party!” LOL..
We really do not like Laura she is horrible; beyond horrible isshyuck..
So– it is different opinions not everyone loves the character..
And– it has nothing to do with the actress I know nothing of her to even have an opinion of her..
It’s the cringing character..
((I can’t even understand the liking of Laura))
But– for her fans, happy you got her back..
SuOOO
You are so darn funny! I’ve never been a big Laura fan, and could never figure out what all the hoopla was about. I can tolerate her in small doses, and might like her in real life, but Laura does not rock my boat.
hi Violet ..
there are more of us!
At work, today I mentioned Laura being the Mayor, and she will be, with great displeasure about it. And 2 others said that she really is yucky<-nicer word lol
If, her being the mayor makes her invisible as Ned has been, that would be good.
but- she is also loved by many and I would never have a Laura lover decorate my house ahaa
What? so000, that can’t be you. I’m disappointed at the unnecessarily catty comments. Genie is a person and an actor. She does not write the dialogue for the character of Laura. Sad face 🙁
Hi Nancy.. 🙂
I know nothing of Genie and my comment was about the character Laura, I do not like Laura.
That character irritates me, for just one thing lol
Oh Suoo, I just think you like to push people’s buttons. I am glad to see her again and she looks beautiful to me. I like that she’s fierce and fights the good fight but she was coming on a bit too strong with Valentin and in the mental ward for the criminally insane with Carly. Since when did those two become friends? Carly told Sonny about a year ago that she never liked Laura and suddenly Laura is calling her “sweetie” and they are skipping arm and arm with each other into the mental asylum. Bleh!!!
Harrry…Laura, LuLu, Dante, Sonny, Carly…guess even soap characters can find common ground sometimes. Actually I’m liking the more aggressive Laura when she needs to be.
& demanding to be let into patient’s rooms. This is just poor, lazy, writing-as usual, to give Laura Wright a scene to stomp in and out of room, and flip her hair!
“thank you” ^^^ “since when did those two become friends?” which will be even more bile when Laura is beholden to Carly when the truth is finally revealed.. that her real husband whom she’s been lusting overtly so.. to the dismay of “Ryan” who’s cringing open face @ the very sight of .
@Shelly and Chris : who are ruining every attempt they try @storyline… they should never have had Laura smothering “Ryan” which is making me cringe @ the reconciliation of “KEVIN” . YIKES it’s just not one of these easy on the eyes when Laura gets laid
hopefully at least Lulu will be happy for her
Love Laura*Kevin, the actors chemistry is top notch. So Laura is branching out,Carly lost a son and so did Laura, she’s friends with Sonny so why can’t she become friends with Carly. They’ve both grown up from years gone by when they worked and fought with each other. I like their coming together! Laura in my opinion hasn’t been smothering Ryan, she & Kevin had a very loving friendship & marriage, she comes home and the guy is totally opposite then he was the last time she spoke to him. He’s lying to her, running out on her every chance he gets when the real Kevin would of been celebrating her homecoming & would be wanting to spend as much time with her as possible. Besides she really missed him being gone for so long. If my husband changed into someone totally opposite of himself & was running out on me every chance he got which would make no sense & doing so many weird things so unlike himself I’d be wanting to find out what the heck was going on. He’s caught eating breakfast by himself having something Kevin didn’t like without asking his returning loving wife to join him is totally something Kevin wouldn’t do. Most people would be very suspicious of his actions & would be trying to help him or trying to find out what he was doing. I’ve only seen great romantic scenes between Laura*Kevin and her thousands of fans can’t wait to see more and we love them. Totally unnecessary to state negative things about their love life as nothing is cringeworthy about it. No one told you that you had to watch them. Most fans love everything about the couple so to insult the character is ridiculous. Genie is also great when she’s fighting with Valentin, she believes he killed her son & shot & almost killed Kevin among a lot of other things & he’s still lying to Nina. Cassadines never change! He deserves what he gets!
Tori: Because not all of us are Carly fans and she doesn’t need to be stomping around in every scene with every character. The writers have thrown her and Sonny in our faces for far too long and many of us are sick of it. I am.
Love Genie, love that she’s back home on GH where she belongs. Hope it lasts for a long time this go around, and I hope they give her the quality stories that an iconic character such as Laura deserves. The ratings were up +185,000 for the week she returned, which should be further evidence of how valuable she is to the show.
I’m proud to be one of the many that took to social media to voice my displeasure with the powers that be after the disgraceful way Genie was treated by ABC earlier this year, and I’m glad to know that she read a lot of those comments, and knows how much she is loved by the GH fans.
respectfully : I laud her return… w/ Spencer.. and the loveable dashing “Kevin”
why did the writers have to show laura “smothering” “kevin / Ryan” UGH this gave no breathing room to flesh out RYAN.. WITH Jon Lindstrom has enlivened… sparked… and gave room for pause at all Ryan dark edgier self with stimulation HEAT UP the whole show… jeezus bejeezus.. you think that’s done with just Sonny / Jason / Franco / Michael / Finn ??? you are out of your mind dead on arrival
I WILL LOVE the familial bonding unite of Kevin / Laura / Spencer… TILL THEN.. dag… get Laura out of his life with her campaigning for Port Charles mayor’ .
LOL I just love how she shared with Scotty.. how it was even two weeks before she arrived that she “sensed” that Kevin .. was disgusted with her… I roared !!!! of course
yike … whether it turns out Ryan has a fetish with Ava… SINCE it was mentioned that Felica is on a cruise with big mac… or are they in the park again. GOD … how I hate the writing.. as once again… Carly is shook up with a “dream” about the person In the next room @Ferncliff… WHO SHOULD FRIGGIN CARE !!!! ???? ONCE AGAIN .. the writers , so weak.. are leading back to Carly … as the scene is ruined by her… balking @Kevin… once again.. is mentioning Kevin/ Ryan SOS morse coding… expletive
seriously.. expletive… @SHelly and Chris.. ie: Kim is asking … near pleading w/Sam… of all people to commiserate with.. as Sam, as with her mom and sisters.. is the soul virtue of doling out advice.. just to “make” Sam relevant… Kim is pleading with her to talk to her mom.. Alexis about representing Oscar in his neverending… same script over and over.. I have a tumor ???? !!!! WE KNOW … live out your life.. show something seedy.. bucket list something… if this is all about just his lamenting fervor over “Josslyn” eff it. I was livid as once again.. Shelly and Chris are so weak.. as they keep on refocusing on irrelevant scenes as Carly is laying it on too quickly @ Liz… since Josslyn and Cameron are now coupling…. HOW EFFING PISSED is it to watch Carly over bearing over driving over her period.. someone on that show needs to mow her over.
back to Sam… as she’s steering her experience about how Jason had his brain tumor .. how she KNOWS what Kim may be going thru… eff this
Sam and CArly for the win… come one .. this show is dullard all over it…
GH new leading ladies.. : Kim / Liz / Terri / Britta / Bobbi / Felicia …
@Shelly and Chris : GET A LIFE
@ ABC / Disney / GH : FIRE Frank Valentini
Agreed. All roads lead back to Carly somehow-Ferncliff (Kevin/Ryan), Cameron, Joss, Oscar (Carly darkening Liz’s doorstep), etc. The writers find any reason to give Laura Wright material. Why? She stomps in and out of scenes, flips her hair, and giggles after every line. Did she go to Julliard, too, along with her boyfriend?
Jon Lindstrom is so damn good. Today he had a cold and sinister expression wash over his features as he confronted Mary-Pat at the bar. Give this man a contract!
Agreed!
Harry…and his transformation is so subtle.
Happy she is back. Felt cheated when she left the show. The powers that be had made the wrong move. Lesser people could have been axed. Like the silly story of Nellie.. That played out so long. Keep the favorites and get rid of the lesser players. Really miss Tony Geary and Jane Elliot. And killing off young people, why write them off some other way.
How I wish I was alive during the Luke and Laura explosion! I have watched a lot of clips on YouTube of Luke and Laura, and Laura and Scotty. It’s not the same as watching it as it unfolded in the late 70’s-early 80’s, however. Daytime Royalty! The Gloria Monty era was amazing. I wish we could have that acting, writing, and storytelling, today.
Loved the interview! Thank you. Here’s hoping that Laura is the one who figures out Ryan is posing as Kevin. Carly can discover it a beat behind Laura, but Laura is where the money-plot, the pay-off, is.
And I DO hope she runs for Mayor and wins.
Amen!
Well, good luck Genie without Tony by your side! ONE annoying scene already is when Laura goes to Alexis to ask her opinion on if Laura should run for Mayor? [Snore!] What I hated is Nancy Lee Grahn got HER opportunity to bash the President, hearing her commentary on what SHE thinks makes a good politician. I cannot stand her!
In addition to that, Timmm, is it just me or is Alexis not that great a lawyer? It feels like every client hears the same disclaimer: “I’m tough, but we’re probably going to lose. Diane/Scotty/whatever D.A. is in office will play dirty and I just wanna let you know our chances are slim”. Who wants to hear that Debbie Downer diatribe? Little wonder that Sam and Christina are depressants as well.
LOVE not only the character Alexis (Soaphound, Alexis has always been known to be a great lawyer)…
But, I LOVE Nancy Lee Grahn. She sees Trump for what he is and speaks her mind loud, clear and emphatically! She has a decency about her and, like so many of us, almost crumbled with despair when Trump stumbled his way into the presidency after losing the popular vote… but quickly picked herself up and has been an outspoken voice of reason in this sea of madness. I’m grateful for those like her in the public eye who can give voice to what so many of us are feeling (and reeling)… who speak of the atrocities that we’ve witnessed since this “president” took office who watch with horror and disbelief and sense of the surreal. If a reality show “celebrity”/Ms. America pageant owner, can become president I think soap actors can express their views (as should we all). Silence is not always golden.
Love you, Nancy!
DO NOT use Soaphound or any other poster here to respond to my opinion indirectly because YOU disagree with ME and you dont have the guts to reply to ME! No matter how many times Michael wants to change this site, two things will never change, YOU love Hillary, hate TRUMP and you are a strong representative of womens liberation. Thats fine, thats your right but PLEASE DO NOT respond to me using other peoples posts. I am being kind here and want no battles here. I disagree with what you post all the time but I steer clear! I am here to talk soaps. Nancy Lee and her liberal Hollywood buddies had to insert what makes a “Perfect” political leader and it was BS!
I didn’t respond to your post “indirectly.” I responded to you and also responded to Soaphound.
I could care less about Hillary at this point. She’s not the issue. Old news. Not even a thought in my mind. My thoughts on Trump would be the same if he was born into the position and never ran against anyone. If you don’t see what’s happened in this country since he took office; if you don’t think neo nazis marching and Breitbart being invited into the White House is horrific..if you don’t think senators getting shot at softball practice, a president defending an accused pedophile or pushing through a judge accused of sexual assault is despicable, if you think it’s okay for the president to publicly mock the woman who was assaulted, if you think it’s okay for Trump to be more concerned with elections and the “adoration” of his base than the attempted assassinations of past presidents, a vice president, a news outlet, and numerous other people; that’s on you. But don’t freaking scream at me or tell me what I can or can’t respond to!
And, I’m not a “representative” of women’s lib. Do you just pull these things out of your a…, errrr, hat? What? Because I hate ageism and I detest this president that connotes to you a womens lib representative? Or, maybe anyone who agrees with “metoo” is a “representative” to you.
Get off it. You’re on a public forum. If you decide to throw a disgruntled comment like “she bashed the president” into your GH comment, then you shouldn’t be surprised if you opened a can of worms. You’re enraged because I bashed Trump; you should be enraged BECAUSE of Trump and his egotistical, narcissistic, as-usual unpresidential reaction in a time of crisis.
I don’t even know what you’re talking about with Nancy; are you talking about the character Alexis? Did she make a reference? Well, art imitates life. It’s no secret how many have either left his adminisration either due to firing, corruption or their self realization that they couldn’t work under this man.. Republicans who secretly cringe when he opens his mouth but keep silent? They’re hoping it’ll win them their own elections.
But Nancy didnt utter the lines you’re so angry about. That’d be Alexis speaking tbe writers words. Whadaya think; Nancy just threw in her own opinion in the middle of a scene? Worry more about the nazis marching, children being separated from their parents, the elderly and disabled losing their benefits, meals on wheels, etc than an actress saying a line that pisses you off or a fellow American citizen who is disgusted with the lunacy thats erupted in this country due to the rhetoric of a man who applauds Gianforte for body slamming a reporter. Save your outrage for that!
Madam, you and I havent replied to one another in a couple years. Mr. Fairman ask that we not attack each other or else. Ok, since I almost disagree with everything you have said in the past, I stand clear on any of your posts. They often contain underlying opinions outside of the GH characters.
What TRUMP did and continues to do is shake up the country. Its not always going to be good when you make changes that both parties have fought over for years with NOTHING being resolved!
I actually enjoyed Alexis and Julian. They have moved on and I think Julian and Kim have a good re pore. What I dont like is Nancy Lee Grahn is a miserable women who doesnt appreciate the gift she has been given and the lives she could touch. She has an agenda and thats her business BUT dont insert your OWN opinions into a story as Alexis’s character. Just the same, if Sonny admired TRUMP, I wouldnt want Maurice talking about it on a soap.
One thing we will agree on is this is a public forum and we are blessed to be able to share our opinions. It should be limited to SOAPS and NOT politics. Just like GH, stick with the imaginary town of Fort Charles and drop your political agenda.
Timmm, I am a Conservative, too; and, although, I do not always agree with Trump, his tweets, and his behavior, I like that he is “shaking things up” in Washington.
@Sir Timmmbo…Applause, applause! My previous reply to you failed to post, but just wanted to give you a hand for your sentiments. If we cannot have a fair representation of all political points-of-view (that inevitably invite remarks and rebuttals which obviously do not comport with management’s particular ideology…) then just don’t allow any, period! All you did was rightly state an objection to something that had no business being part of GH, and in return we were subjected to the usual diatribe of propaganda about our president. Quite frankly, either this website should proclaim itself as a public relations arm of the DNC or ban the political chat for good and stick to soaps…as if that subject matter alone doesn’t cause enough problems in and of itself!
Sweet Shay, thank you, my pleasure. I just want to watch soaps and escape all the hate, negativity, and lies that I see in the news everyday!
You’re most welcome! And I could not agree with you more, Timmm! Even though I stay apprised on the latest news and remain immersed in my politics of choice, when it comes to my leisure time viewing, I want pure escapism…beautiful people in far off times and/or places who behave with a modicum of dignity and civility…I just wish GH still offered that like it once did….the last thing I care to encounter onscreen are soap actors lecturing the audience by interjecting their own personal spins in the guise of their characters on subjects that should be off-limits….Ditto for these threads….the all-too-familiar rants are both predictible and boring….time for some new storylines!!!!!
Rebecca1…Just to let you know I tried to respond to you on this thread, but I guess it wasn’t MF rated. And to be quite frank, I might not have sent it had I waited a few hours later (possibly too much angst in it), even though I meant everything I said. But I do agree with you on most issues.
Am liking Genie/Ryan story, Alexis, Aunt Stella, Oscar (tough situation…plus/minus on each side of the argument), Peter and Maxie, and even Carly/Thorncliffe right now. Just can’t warm up to Liz/Franco. Lukewarm to Anna/Finn, and Drew/Kim.
Try to keep hopeful.
In honor of Halloween, I am going to quote that drunk from Hitchcock’s “The Birds.” “It’s the end of the world!”
Seriously, I do think we realistically could be heading for a Civil War–these are frightening times. I have to turn off the news and turn on some good classic movies, or good music, or read a book. Sometimes, I watch the soaps for good old fashioned escapism. I think we need escapism more than ever right now, hence, I am not going to discuss politics in here as I did in the past. We cannot change each other’s minds and all we do is create more divisiveness.
Harry…Like you I am not following the news chapter verse anymore. I get the highlights, and then try to go about a saner life. Speaking of the good old classic movies, interesting to see how many of them dealing with social/cultural/money issues are being echoed in what’s happening today. Seems we don’t easily learn from history’s mistakes. They do seem to repeat themselves, but at a much more accelerated, destructive rate now a days. But I refuse to give up hope that this too shall pass to more enlightened things that stick, at least in between cycles. :))
I did the same thing, Harry–turned off the news and watched 3 movies in a row one day! Hitchcock had something there!
I just absolutely love the movie “The Birds!”
Harry…I do much of the same. Notice how some of the older good classic movies themes seem as if they could be made today. Or welcome surprises like actors when they were younger. I just saw Anna Lee /lila Quartemaine in “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.” And from past comments you’ve written, I think we can agree on some of our music favorites. Have a good day.
PERK! Rose, how did you know one of my favorite movies of all time is “The Ghost of Mrs Muir”? I just hear the strings of the theme song shoring up as if it were opening up on the “foam of magic casements of fairy lands forlorn,” (John Keats)and I instantly have tears welling up in my eyes. How can I resist a movie which features the ghost of a sea captain quoting Keats’s “Ode to a Nightingale”? The chemistry between Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney is through the roof. And who can resist little Natalie Wood playing Anna Muir. Lucy’s daughter? I think the saddest part is when the Captain has to say goodbye to Lucy, whom he calls Lucia. “What we could have had, Lucia……Goodbye my dear,” he says and he leaves her slumbering body and disappears into the sea scape. Lucy decides that the sea captain was a mere dream and she dreamed the novel she wrote,”Blood and Swath.” And of course, Lucy has to choose that dandy beautifully played by the iconic George Sands. And of course he turns out to be a scoundrel and an adulterer. Poor Lucy. Choosing reality over dreams will let you down every time.
Harry…Oh yes to what you have said, with another kleenex time with happy tears when Daniel takes Lucia’s hand at the end to go to all the adventures they would ever want. Only rivaled by Heathcliffe and Catherine going to the moors. Felt sad when Anna Muir’s post on the beach succumbed to the weathering over the years. Also loved Gene Tierney in Laura. And George Sanders in anything. And I chose dreams.
This posted too soon, don’t know how to delete, so just edited it all out.
rebecca 1, You have my vote. Wish I could speak as you do. I also like Nancy Grahn not only as Alexis, but also as a sane voice among the crazies. She isn’t the one stirring up trouble, causing friends and families alike into a frenzy that is effecting our whole country. When have we ever seen so much violence and unrest? It has already affected my own family, causing dissension and discord, and yes even tears. He will not be satisfied, until we are all at each others throats, with some families sadly torn apart. It’s very sad that in all my 86 years I can not remember when we, as Americans have not stood together to fight off the enemy, but are now being bullied by a president to fight each other, turning us into gladiators for the “king’s” amusement. God, save us all!
Hello Rebecca:
So after a break from visiting this site, I return to read a feature on the glorious Genie Francis, and, lo and behold, I am witness to some insightful commentary from you on the current occupant of the U.S. presidency. Thank you for fighting the good fight, Rebecca! I am not indirectly replying to anyone else. I am directly replying to you, and I am saluting you for your strength, convictions, and morality. I proudly stand with you.
Awhile back, I announced here that I would have a self-imposed moratorium on political commentary, in part because I had already made my opinions known and I further didn’t want to create any friction with those with opposing views. I truly like and admire so many people who post here, even those with differing political views. I still love family members who have differing political views, but it’s hard to spend time with them; and walking on eggshells is a difficult path to trek…
Yet my zipped lips here on the subject are once again unrestrained… I cannot stand idly by and silent on this issue of the horrid words and deeds of the despicable current president. Rebecca, in your excellent posts above in this thread, you have eloquently and intelligently outlined some of the abhorrent rhetoric and actions the current president has inflicted on the American people. Your commentary is so articulate and well documented that I can’t even attempt to match your efforts, but I wholeheartedly support what you’ve said: You have my vote, too! The unprecedented, yet predictable, constant lying by this president is also well documented, and it is an assault on our country. He doesn’t want to be presidential or reasoned; he is incapable of doing so. More than anything, he relishes holding these endless political rallies, so that he can dish out his tiresome, hate-spewing stand-up routine, wherein his voice mimics a Joe Pesci movie character and his constant verbal attacks and mocking are making a mockery of the office he holds. Already in 2 years, he has done tremendous harm to our nation and much of its cherished institutions. I hope and pray the harm is not irreparable and that we can recover.
The legitimate press must continue to document and report the facts of what is going on. So much of it is in front of our eyes and ears on a daily basis, and thus on video, much to the disdain of the president and his supporters. As we are reminded in the wake of any horrific shooting or terrorist event, if we see something, we should say something. Rebecca, my friend, thank you for saying something…
James, belatedly, well done! I have great admiration for how you conduct yourself. Graceful, through and through, no matter the personal angst in putting yourself out there. Class personified…and for that matter, class dismissed! I can’t disagree!
Hey Reed! You have no idea the extent to which you have made my day! I appreciate your kindness and support, and I thank you for taking the time to read my long-winded comments and give me your reply.
The funny thing is that my above comments didn’t appear originally, and I had assumed they weren’t posted at all. I’m not sure what happened… As increasingly more light is shed on the misdeeds (to put it lightly) of the current administration, all we can do is hope and pray for better days ahead… And as we go day to day, the best we can hope for is to make a difference in others’ lives. Reed, you have done that for me today and previously… Best to you and your loved ones, Friend!
James, it’s a shame the bar has been set so low these days, but a win is a win, so I’m only too happy to have improved your day. I just got through Kiki’s funeral, so I’m still hopelessly behind. My old school viewing habits have me wading through each episode sans fast forwarding—and without spoilers, hence my absence. Having not posted since the 10/5 Chloe Lanier thread, I thought I’d check-in on some of the older threads to see what the gang’s been up to. And based upon that thread, I see my fan club is still intact. Ouch! And while some people get it and some people clearly don’t, I didn’t want your brilliant post to go without acknowledgement. Looking forward to being current someday and to rejoining the conversations.
Just a quick reply, Reed. I was curious about the “fan club” you mentioned, so I checked out the other thread. As we know, reasonable minds can disagree on soaps, characters, politics, etc. We can personally agree with one person’s point of view on one issue but differ on other issues. Any such disagreement shouldn’t necessitate disdain. I know I’ve been a nonstop critic of GH’s Sonny, so for those who love the character, they must think I’m a jerk (or worse). I think, however, when there is supportive, positive feedback, as you and I have given each other today, that makes it all worthwhile! Thanks again! 🙂
Hello Dear Rebecca! I hope all is well with you and your loved ones. So glad that we share fandom of Nancy Lee Grahn/Alexis! I’m also pleased that Genie Francis is back, although frankly they don’t deserve her. This is actually my 3rd attempt to reply to you in this thread. The first 2 posts didn’t make the cut… I was attempting to give you backup/compliments on your posts. Suffice it to say that I share your views and you have my utmost respect. 🙂
(Now, come on, Censors, that was pretty harmless, wasn’t it?)
Hi sweet James! Soooo sorry I took this long to get back to you! I kept meaning to, replied to someone else but then didn’t return here for a while. And, I THINK I DID see another post from you; a little different than this one but now I don’t see it. Nell’s disappearing ink?
Anyway, I ALWAYS appreciate your support and it’s comforting to know that on this anonymous site there are those of us who share a common sensibility and therefore probably very similar morals, values, way of looking at the world.
It’s posters like you that make me wish we had pics/profiles (like FB) so that we’d have the option of actually friending someone. I guess we’ll have to be content with forming pictures in our minds and enjoying a more cerebral, virtual reality connection!
Much respect and a virtual hug! 😉
Hey Rebecca! Thank you for your warm, friendly reply. I certainly didn’t mean to be a pest. I just wanted to alert you to my attempts at leaving replies to you and the one that got through. I agree with you on the whole profile/friending thing. But it’s still refreshing and satisfying to have a friend in you, in which we share important commonalities. Best to you and your loved ones.
Hugs to you as well!
Jamesj75…you’re NEVER a pest! And if I might take this chance to rhyme…never, ever! LOL! (hey! so it wasn’t one of my more creative endeavors..whud aboud it!!!?) 😉
LOL! Just a quick note to say: Thank you, Rebecca! It is always a pleasure… 🙂
Genie is NOT the writer of the dialogue. IF it’s SNNNNNNNNORE-worthy, it’s not the actor’s fault. Duh!
Genie doesn’t need Tony to stand & sparkle on her own. She’s great with the whole cast & I adore her with Jon Lindstrom. TPTB brought the actor back as a love interest for Laura & fans are so glad they did seeing their chemistry is off the charts! If you don’t like the characters don’t watch them because thousands of fans love them. Laura would be a great mayor & I love her hate relationship with the lying Valentin who she believes killed her son, almost killed Kevin, tried to kidnap Spencer & did horrible things to Lulu but paid never paid for it. He’s scared of Laura & they both work so well together. The best thing #GH ever did was bring Laura/Genie back to the show!
I’m really glad Genie is back. I can’t help but think though, that Laura (as well as others) will be angry and upset with Kevin when this whole thing is over. He kept Ryan’s existence a secret thereby allowing the devastation that Ryan will most likely cause to happen. Will their marriage survive? What I would love to see happen is that Stephen Nichols is brought back as Stefan. Whether or not he is placed in Laura’s orbit I do not know. I just know that I would love him back!
I feel Laura would forgive Kevin because she’ll realize the connection he’s had to curing his brother for so long because of his love for him & she’ll eventually come around to understand why he did what he did. He didn’t intentionally want to hurt anyone & if Laura could forgive Luke for all the below board things he did she’d definitely forgive Kevin. I also would love Stephen Nichols to return to #GH. I love his & Laura’s love story & they were my favorite couple when they were both on the show. He was a breath of fresh air & he alone destroyed L&L for the most part which I enjoyed immensely!
Thank you for doing the interview w/ Genie. I’ve loved her version on Laura since she started the show in 1977. She’s one of the reasons I stuck around over the decades and I always watch when she is on. They’ve given her a home, let her interact w/ the other characters. Laura has more connections to Port Charles and General Hospital (and a longer one) than any other character. They need to play up those connections.
Amen, RoseKelly!
Agreed!
Mr. Fairman, thank you for your excellent interview with the iconic, gracious, classy, talented Genie Francis!
Goes double for me. And I am sad and disappointed to see some of the negative comments about Genie posted above.
Thank you, Nancy. I am in complete agreement with you.
I’m very disappointed to regarding the negative comments made about Laura/Genie. I totally disagree with them because to me Genie is #GH & she plays a wonderful character. She’s grown older & stronger & people can’t handle it. She doesn’t need Luke to fight her battles or save her anymore he even said it to her that she’s a woman now no longer a young girl. I love her with Kevin, they make a dynamic couple who are so adorable together, romantic, funny, great friends, caring, loyal that they’ll make each other better people in the long run.
Both will learn from this Ryan/Kevin storyline. He couldn’t let his brother go under any circumstances not realizing what could happen if Ryan ever got loose & Laura will come around to understand his plight & the fact he probably wanted to tell her but was so deeply in he didn’t know how without everyone finding out which will have many consequences in the long run. If anyone can forgive Kevin it’s Laura, she forgave Luke when she found out about him sleeping with Holly and having a child with her & totally accepted him & Luke lied to her so many times but time and time again & took off or disappeared without telling her where he was going or how long he’d be gone etc. She always forgave him. Kevin should be forgiven if you knew what it was like walking in his shoes having to see your sibling going totally mad for all the abuse he received & feeling your love & help could cure him. I wish Kevin could of cured Ryan.
I like Laura, too. I just wish they dressed her better. She’s a beautiful woman. They dress her like an old lady!
@AVP…..I thought the day Laura returned to Port Charles she looked fabulous! Very chic, albeit quite modest. But then, that’s just our Laura….she’s always been attired tastefully and respectably, which sadly sometimes does read a bit boring and too matronly. However, it certainly doesn’t have to be that way….”she” should take a page out of Anna’s book and wear clean lines and classic styles…they never go out of fashion and are both ageless and timeless! Having said that, Laura was never one of those va-va-voom types, even in her youth! She is certainly not going to parade around town ala Alexis in some hoochie-coochie-cleavage-baring get-up! Laura’s a lady!!! Whoa, whoa, whoa, she’s a LADY!!!!
I’m enjoying the Laura/Kevin/Ryan story, even though it can get a little spooky. Especially seeing the Thorncliffe head nurse again, even though she was only collecting her belongings. Plus they are letting her have another run at being Mayor on issues important to her. Yea!
Tori and Rose I think Genie Frances is vastly under rated as an actress. Yesterday when talking to Lulu she had tears in her eyes as she tried to restrain her emotions. I felt so bad for her! If only she knew that Ryan actually saved her by dumping her. Now he has his sights on Ava, and left her a love note in her gallery the way a cat leaves a dead mouse for his person at the door step.
Now speaking of Ryan….who would have thunk he could be so crafty? Martha Stewart has nothing on him! That was the most creative apple bobbing approach I ever did see. And that little crafty over-achiever wasn’t done yet! He hand made his own Scarecrow and placed it in Ava’s gallery. I thnk we should call it a ScareAva!!!
Harry…Yes, Genie has shown great range in her scenes since she ha been back. I really liked it when she confronted Valantin Cassadine. Just think it’s taking Laura a long time to think Kevin/Ryan was avoiding her. And love the scenes with her and Spencer. Still think Spencer might play a role in outing Ryan impersonating Kevin.
And as much as I don’t like blood and gore, have to admit Ryan might have outdone Martha in how he displayed Mary Pat. Not sure if he wants Ava to be Bonny to his Clyde, or whether he is setting her up for his masterpiece. Thanks for the distraction. :))
Rose, just re-reading some of the comments from Oct, and Nov. Recently with the Ryan SL, I’ve been thinking why hasn’t Ava noticed and asked what happened to the scar Kevin recieved after being shot by Valentin, when they were all in Greece, a while back. Also, Ryan is going to be very frustrated, not being able to kill anyone, as long as Franco is in jail, but with Valentine’s Day coming up, how can he resist?
Violet…Good call…what will Ryan do with Franco in jail? I’m sure he still has a few others he would like to off, including Lulu. What I’m hoping is that Ava and Laura find out about Ryan at the same time. This could be wild. And we still have Kevin possibly being discovered at Thorncliffe. Lots of action to look forward to, and the bad guy finally getting his due.
We are so happy to have Genie back on our screens!!
Thrilled Genie is back ! She is the reason I continue to watch. Unfortunate they are making the character prop Carly
Yes, I wanted Genie’s Laura to discover on her own about Ryan’s deception. Only fitting and proper that she do so. She savvy and smart with lots of moxie.
I’m extremely thrilled to have Genie the Actress and Laura the character back! Im the most intrigued about Laura’s role in “The Cassadine Watch” Story. I’ve always preferred to see Laura in stories that involve intrigue , danger and The Cassadines.
Love anything Laura/Cassadine especially Stefan/Laura or Nikolas/Laura! Hope both are returning with Stephen Nichols/Tyler Christopher as the characters!

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
General Hospital
‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.
Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera?
