So many fans have been commented that they have been very upset by the lack of story given to fan favorite Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber).   After Becky was fired and then brought back by the last regime, and then nominated for a Daytime Emmy, she has been back-burnered for some time now. Meanwhile Elizabeth has had one failed attempt after another with relationships with Lucky and Jason, both characters are now off the canvas.

General Hospital’s executive producer, Frank Valentini spoke to Deep Soap’s Sara Bibel about what fans can expect for Liz in the coming months. and especially in the romance department!

Valentini revealed,  “I love Liz. I love Becky.  She’s fantastic. But something needs to be built. I think that character’s been bounced around. She’s got three different children from three different men. If she’s going to say, “I love you” to somebody, it’s got to be real and it’s got to mean something. She’s not going to jump right into it. That’s not who she is. I think everyone’s forgotten a little bit what makes Liz the character you most identify with and most want to be. Becky’s got the acting chops to pull it off if you go through every step of the relationship.”

The showrunner went on to say that Liz will not be involved with Patrick or A.J. citing:  “Liz and Patrick are like brother and sister.  It would be creepy if they were together.  Liz has a new love interest on the horizon.”  When prompted if the new love interests initials were A. J., Valentini said a resounding, “No.”

So soapers, who should be the new love interest for Elizabeth Webber?   Let us know your thoughts!

So Hoping for a Liz and AJ Pairing. ;(

Hope she doesn’t hook up with Johnny.

Need stop writing for Fake Kate, who can’t act

I actually like Kate, and I disagree… She can act, if anyone cannot its the girl playing Kristina. That being said if they wanted to recast Kate, they could bring on Beth Chamberlin….I do agree with you though, I’d rather have more Elizabeth on air.

The only other option besides AJ and Patrick would be Johnny. So my guess is Johnny or wait maybe John McBain.

Good,I agree about Liz and Patrick, that would be weird, and AJ and Liz should be friends, without benefits.

I can’t think of anyone on the show now that I would put with Elizabeth. I’m glad it will not be A.J. or Patrick. If Nicholas came back, maybe with him. I’m thinking of the single men on the show and no one is the right age and personality for her. They also keep getting rid of the men leaving less men to go around. The actor who played Steve was let go for some reason. Steve Burton (lied) and left. There are few men to go around. You need more men on the show.

agree!

ditto! not enough men folk to go around… for all these fiesty Women! I’ve posted this before… perhaps if they plan on bringing Duke and Robert back…. reason i liked Joe Scully, Jr…. for Tracy…. they can’t all be fighting over Luke.

i’ve always thought… that Sam and Patrick should gravitate toward one another… both very similar circumstances…. both of their “true” loves are “gone” ?!?!

That actor who played Joe Scully, Jr. was very good and kind of sexy in his way. they should not have wasted him on such a short term role. They should have used some one else and had him come later as an interest for… whoever. I don’t agree about Sam and Patrick though. I don’t see them meshing and.. if Robin comes back (who knows if they will let K.M. do bits here and there forever, and she wants to be a director. They may eventually recast or who knows) I don’t want Sam hurt again. I can see her with McBain. If one life comes back on, I’d like to see him there, or at least go back adn forth to see Liam. I don’t know if you were a One Lifer but if it comes back on, I’d like to see some of them go back and forth. WE need more Quartermaines again and more men for sure. They either leave or are fired. I can see your reasoning for P. and S. And Brittney? She needs to leave. She’s that Lisa redoux. Why would you have such a similar character?

I’m hoping Valentini is playing with words here, because AJ’s true initials would actually be AQ or AJQ. AJ & Elizabeth have already generated a lot of chemistry in the only 2 instances they’ve shared scenes so far. I’d be a shame to waste that chemistry and not build on it.

Well. Personally shes a strong woman capable of being a single mom and a great friend to many. But if she was to get involved. I like frisco jones. Granted he sticks around when he comes back.

Yes, the people over at GH seem very interested in having Jack Wagner back on GH. Nonetheless, Valentini confirmed that Frisco is coming back. His exact words were “Yes. I think it’s going to happen. We’re very excited. He’s got a lot of things going on, so it will be a limited thing for now. We’re working with his schedule”.

Limited thing for…now? This opens the door for Frisco to pop up again!

Yuck. Frisco is too old for Elizabeth. She needs a hot man her age.

Someone needs to tell him to quite repeating the Jasam fan mantra about Liz having 3 kids with 3 dads. So does Carly and Alexis. It seems to be in the water around Port Charles but no one ever mentions them, only Liz. Other than that, I like what he said about Liz especially about her being the character you can relate to and want to be. For so many years Laura filled that role and then Liz started to take her place but Guza never embrace that type of female character. He liked the B’s and Ho’s more. So I am glad Frank can appreciate the need for a female character women can relate to.

Amen Kelly i am soooo sick of the name calling of her character. Carly sent her son Morgan off you know the one she had with the wanna-be-mobster. She gets away with everything but has the nerve as everyone else in town to call Liz the whore. Like I said before if you don’t want to write for her then send her to Y&R.

I have never thought of Liz as a loose woman. Ok she has 3 kids by 3 men. So what. Liz has never been portrayed as loose. Its jst the haters that use that word to describe her w no reason other than hating her.

And I understand the dislike of a character because I “hate” on Aj and Duke. But I don t call them names. I jst want them to die LOL.

I agree so much with you, Kay, and Ellen. She’s not a whore who jumps in bed with anyone.

Felix!! Lol

Elizabeth is one of the only female characters on GH with any class. Despite the multiple baby daddies, the actress keeps Liz a cut above. She is more like Laura than anyone else, as poster Kelly pointed out. I’m glad to hear Frank V. recognizes she is a character many relate to.

Maybe they will bring in a new love interest for her? I still think she might be good with Patrick.

So happy Laura is returning. And yeah, Fake Kate can’t act. She needs to go.

i love Konnie. i also love Liz. More of both please.
Kelly Sullivan is awesome as DID character. i would love to see Becky act in a story line as deep as that.

If Johnny stays out of the mob I wouldn’t mind a Elizabeth/Johnny pairing. I adore BB and feel Johnny has been wasted on the likes of Carly. But I also saw some chemistry between AJ and Elizabeth, so I could get on board with that as long as Elizabeth isn’t getting involved with AJ because he bears a resemblance to Jason.

I can’t see a good person like Elizabeth with A.J. If Johnny will turn his life around- and not be sent up the river, I could see him possibly with Elizabeth.

Both AJ and Johnny have done things that would be considered bad so I’m not adverse to either of them. If AJ really has changed then in my opinion he is also a candidate for Elizabeth. That said, I prefer Johnny because I’m a big fan of BB.

JoLiz has been a fantasy of mine for years. Johnny has been on the show for 6 years without getting that full on invested love story. I think he and Liz would be magical. BB is the best actor on the show IMHO so RH would have a great acting partner. WIN WIN

Agree. Agree. Ive wanted JoLiz for some time. Johnny has been used to prop other characters too long. I want Johnny to return to the piano and be that guy who never wanted to be in the mob. Johnny with Carly was a waste of time.

Someone new for Elizabeth….please !!

agreed!

I third that call!

I don’t see her with anyone on the show right now. Either have Matt Hunter get out of prison or bring on a new character for her. Just let him have ties to the show somehow.

Oh Matt and Elizabeth would make sense and I’d be happy to see that.

Liz has been zeroed out and they need to rebuild her..
Perhaps a new doctor or rich patient will brought in for Liz..

As of now, there is no-one for Liz.. She needs someone who is awesome and will do her justice..

Oh God please, or in this case Frank, just give her a storyline already and put her in the forefront where she belongs and stop using the old Regime excuse not to have her on screen, enough with the excuses and make her front and center Now.

Amen!

So it is someone on the canvas already? Hmm, it would be great if it were Johnny because Elizabeth could really bring out the best of him. He would be a lot like Xander and that could be fun.

I can’t imagine how Johnny is going to get out of this current mess, but I am sure Diane can get him off. If that frees him then he could work with Liz. I just don’t see the greatness between Carly and Johnny for some reason. I really liked Johnny when he was with Lulu so I think Liz would be great.

Then if it happens to be John McBain, I could see that pairing work too, but I would rather it be Johnny.

Brittany?

Yes, Brit. That skanky Brit doctor throwing herself at Patrick at every corner. And now he’s falling for it! Gross!

Miss Herbst will have her moment again. I think it is wise her character has been quiet for a time. When a storyline comes along then we will be very excited. I do hope Elizabeth will be able to enjoy some genuine slow-moving rich romance and maybe give us a little comedy at trying to raise children alone. How about a romantic story for a working mom with a lighter touch, huh?

I like this

I really like the idea of Liz & AJ & think a relationship between them could be imperfect and yet work really well. The problem as I see it with Lucky and Jason was that Liz thought of them as ideal loves and the relationships just never measured up. Perhaps she can have a more grounded relationship? That could turn epic if done right.

I have one thing to say about AJ. He must die.

You have Ratings for shows, what happened to the 60 plus years? I am 66 years old and I have been watching Gh from day one. My sister is 71 and I know there is a lot of older people who watches the Soaps. I guess the Seniors are not important!! Some Seniors that is all they have is the Soaps, now they put on all of the junk shows. I have nothing more to say but I hope you can have the ratings for older people………………

Agree Carol. And they market to the younger demographic like they have money to spend.
( Shhhhhhh….. dont tell them our secrets. i ff thru ads anyway. ) However as for the show GH gives us some respect by keeping older actors with story lines….. unlike most reality and prime time.

What a load of garbage as if Liz is the only character with baggage. RMFE Other female characters have been passed around like blunts and moved on from one relationship to the other and yet when it comes to FINALLY writing for the character of Liz it’s the same spiel GMAFB

Liz baggage ? What character doesnt have even more than Liz? Certainly Carly Tracy Sam. and list continues. Show wouldnt be a soap if characters didnt have baggage. Saying a character has baggage is a mute point isnt it?.

LOL, How about Liz and Coleman? yuck!

Elizabeth should be with Nicholas !!!!!!!!!!! Or bring the old Lucky back.

Something needs to get really interesting with Elizabeth, Sam and Sonny.

Please let Elizabeth team up with Nicholas and get him away from that horrible Britt. They have no chemistry at all!! Also, how many lives does Jerry Jacks have anyway? LOL! I love Sebastian Roche, so he can keep coming back in my opinion. Been watching GH for decades, also OLTL. Sad that OLTL might not be coming back to Hulu. Keep up the good work at GH.

RH fans consist of Ryan Noble and his pen. I think she should be happy to have a job. GH have given RH many s/l and she has done well with none. Everyone wants to know about all these fans, that’s claimed she has, but if you look into it,they the fans a re pen fans. ^ fans that has 500 email addresses and Ryan Noble(who work with TVSource,SID,SOD)who have done nothing but pimp RH.Everyone time she is on front burner, fans cut the soap off, simply because she is boring!RH popularity is created and others have figured it out also,by Ryan Noble and her 6 fans with the 500 email addresses.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
