GH Nurses Ball 2014 Finale: Lucy's Marriage Goes Bust, Dr. Obrecht Croons To Her Kids, Patrick & Sabrina's "You're Not Alone" Reprise!

The Nurses Ball 2014 has now officially come to a close , and in yesterday’s episode which marked the final days of performances, antics and drama, it was hostess with the mostess Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) at the epicenter.  Once again dressed only in her underwear and about ready to go back on stage, she is pulled into a kiss by Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner).  Problem is  … the curtain goes up as they are in a passionate embrace.  Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) is startled to see it play out in front of the entire Nurses Ball audience!  What followed was the disintegration of Lucy and Kevin’s marriage.  Kevin left Lucy, and in a touching moment during the final montage (which we will get to in a minute) Mac (John J. York) meets up with Kevin as he is exiting the disaster on the red carpet, and the two best friends go out of the ball together.

Now as for Adele Dezeem, err, Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), somehow she manages to hijack the stage once again this time complete with an accompanying mini-orchestra  After hearing some terse words from her kids, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey), Liesl shows once again she is capable of human feelings!  How does she do that?  By singing “Always On My Mind” directly to the children she has treated so poorly!   The fact that this woman is even allowed at the ball is mind-numbing giving her treatment and part in the Robin Scorpio Drake kidnapping, etc!  But, if you did not suspend belief, how on earth would we get to see all the talents of Kathleen Gati, who truly has become one of the biggest and most unique standouts on the canvas of the ABC soap opera!

Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) finally were included in a Nurses Ball episode, after literally being the focus along with little Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) at last year’s Nurses Ball which honored the “late” Robin.   To tie them in and to bring everything back around full circle, Patrick and Sabrina’s little boy in the NICU now has an infection that could be caused by something that someone brought into the NICU.  So the doctor orders the parents out of the room, and so they have to watch their little baby struggle from outside in the hospital hallway.   As Nurse Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) is announced as the final performer to close the Nurses Ball 2014, she begins to sing, “You’re Not Alone” which has become the anthem for the revived Nurses Ball.   The scene shifts to Patrick and Sabrina who themselves sing a refrain of the song.  After quick cuts that set-up the continuance of stories and romances unfolds, at the end, Patrick and Sabrina are joined at the hospital by little Emma, Anna (Finola Hughes), Duke (Ian Buchanan), Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel), Elizabeth (Rebecca Hearst) and more in a show, once again, of unity.

Watch the “You’re Not Alone” closing segment and Liesl’s rendition of “Always On My Mind” below. Then let us know, what did youthink of the Nurses Ball 2014 finale?  What was your favorite moment? Your least favorite moment?  How would you grade this year’s ball overall?  Share your thoughts below!

I really liked the final day of the Nurse’s Ball.Dr.Obrecht finally showed in public that she does care about her kids in her own way.As for Lucy i kind of knew her affair with Scott would be exposed at the ball somehow and nowthe question becomes does she want to fix her marriage or be with Scott.Overall i think the Nurse’s Ball was great this year. There was drama and romance and entertainment.

There are many facets to Dr. Obrecht. I love the actress. Ms. Gati should be put on contract!

minimally

Kathleen Gati goes contract

how dedicated to her craft

what an immense pleasure it is to read with… theatre

I loved Mac being there for Kevin. Soaps really dont show people being friends that much. I hope Kevin goes all Ryan on Port Charles now. Jon Linstrom is a good actor and this may be the tide his character was waiting for to show his abilities.

I love Mac and Kevin, too. Mac is a very funny character. I like him and Felicia being back together and seeing her respect and love him the way that he deserves!

your two post… were my favorite… and it’s for the vet repose

that there are couples who have always got it… and bring the dance LIVE

LOL… hoot hoot

Mac and Felicia
Kevin and Lucy
Tracy and Luke
Anna and Duke
Bobbi and Scotty

theres plenty on the show to go with

at the very least.. and bare minimum… let’s see this twosome…

be it…. Kevin and Mac… bond connect begin trigger
with their lovely partners… be it Lucy…. Feliicia… Tracy humm… I’m loving the potential

the show must go on…

and if I can see Big Mac and his oh so lovely Felicia more than once in a while

and Kevin lead

I’d tune in

I agree on all three comments. GH Has rich characters that should be utilized; not introducing more people like stunt casting Donna Mills to the show — we don’t have any investments in newbies with no history.

This is so dumb to end the nurses ball with them surrounding Patrick and Sabrina’s baby. What does that have to do with HIV/AIDS research. Also does Anna/Mac/Felicia know that Patrick told Robin — don’t bother coming home.

I am sorry — another year and another stupid Nurses Ball — ending with Princess Sabrina. I can’t watch Patrick and Sabrina without being nauseated. I used to love Patrick and now I can’t stand him and his selfishness.

I think the ending of the ball was more about people supporting each other.Just like some characters were supporting Patrick and Sabrina in their time of need Mac was there for Kevin. As for Patrick telling Robin not to come home i think he meant him alone and not Emma.If Robin appeared i don’t think Patrick would keep Emma from her but as far as he might be concerned their marriage might be over.

I agree this year was about being there for there friend and family I cry

Patrick and Sabrina aren’t my favorite couple; but, they are not my least favorite, either. My least favorite is boring Michael and Kiki. I thought it was in poor taste how Sabrina left her premature son to visit Car-rrr-los in prison. That was ridiculous.

. Also does Anna/Mac/Felicia know that Patrick told Robin — don’t bother coming home.

this is what triggers

when Patrick Drake realizes he lives

Thank you, tenblde….my sentiments exactly!

My favorite parts of the ball were the opening with Dr. Obrecht & Ned’s performance! They were both great! I’m so tired of hearing about Robin! Either recast her or stop talking about her since the actress doesn’t want to be on anymore! It was stupid to bring her back for such a short time!

AHHH, I loved it! Love it everytime. Emma’s solo/duet was great, but I liked the song and dance routine she did last year better. The ball ended on Lucy’s catfight with Bobby and a hug from Felicia. I didn’t feel it ended on Patrick and Sabrina, just that they sang that song again and that is what they were doing while the Ball was going on elsewhere.

Loved that Kristen was able to perform this time around, and clever that they included her in the Haunted Starlets too.

I grade the Ball a C. Nothing too memorable except for Player and they are a real band with an ex-CBS employee. I did like how the show wrapped and it reconnects us to a story line about Patrick’s son and how people rallied at the hospital to support him. Heres hoping Epiphany is arrested for the assault of Marbles. She is the worst!

Epiphany did the right thing, Mr Marbles had to die. LOL.

I bow to Epiphany!!
I would have taken an ax to Mr. Marbles or shoved in a wood chipper..

Thank you Epiphany !!

The Nurses Ball was great…except Dr. O should not have been allowed there and the Lucy/Scott thing was unreal!

Yup it was not real..
soaps are not real
the characters are not real
soap are telling drama stories, not real stories..
Nothing is the soap stories is real…
so that is why things don’t seem real .. 🙂
People coming back from the dead, is not real either lol ..

The baby is a brother of a child born HIV free of an HIV mother… that ties him to it for me. Family and friends of HIV people should always be included as much as possible. Just too bad Robin’s priorities are so messed up. And yes, I know they are characters in a soap opera.

Robin’s priorities are not messed up…Ron Carlivati’s are.

Well put, Johnny! And his priority is ALWAYS to place Sobby’s interests above Robin’s……even at the expense of the storyline!!!!!

As i and others have pointed out Kimberly McCullough wasn’t coming back long term and that was her choice. So the show has to move on without her for now at least and free Patrick up a little.Yeah Patrick told Robin not to come home but he hasn’t started divorce proceedings either. So whether the show sent Robin away to help Jason or for some other reason she was going to leave her husband and young daughter alone and they would have to come up with a reason why Robin wasn’t returning right away.

Thank you Andrew for adding a voice of reason!

The show was not as good as last years. although there were good musical segments like Magic Milo, and the girls singing. I did like the part where it showed Lisel Olbrecht doing always on my mind. but you should have showed Ned Ashton’s performance as Eddie Maine. I love the ending song you’re not alone. I think there should have been a couple more musicals numbers. The group “Spencer” did was great, but 1 or 2 more musical numbers would have been nicer. Sorry

Eddie Maine performed– he sang a Meatloaf song– I think it was on last Friday’s show– it you missed it you should check out YouTube maybe someone posted it.

I absolutely adore Kathleen Gati. She is very talented and should be put on contract! I loved a lot of the performances, in no particular order-Eddie Maine, the Haunted Starlets, Magic Milo, and of course, both of Kathleen Gati’s (Dr. Obrecht). The kid’s tango was adorable. Loved Player, too. I love the tradition of having Lucy end up in her underwear every year; but, I don’t like how it was done this year. Really dampened The Ball with her affair being exposed.

it was a good time to feature Vet performers

I only hope : that they feature Kevin evenmoreso… he’s so damned handsome… easy on the eyes… has a lot of character that needs to be shared…. give us some Kevin and Tracy reprieve… a comeuppance… a defining trail… a prelude

Tracy in LOVE’
Kevin deserving

love the end of the episode with all of patrick extended family and friends gathering although i agree, it has nothing to do with with hiv/aids research. and i doubt in real life that amfar or yogurt sponsor would’ve of been thrill with a televised event for hiv/aids research were the hostess is caught live on air having an affair on her husband, or the head nurse of the hospital is seen going off on someone who was at least trying to participate in the event only to be humiliated on tv, and no less the uncle of the person who the event at least last year was in honor of. Then a know criminal be allowed to sing, all those events would of overshadowed the purpose of being there to begin with. i’m not saying i wasn’t entertain, but lets get real, RC and FV have turned the nurses ball into cheap entertainment instead of a prestigious event.

I loved the whole thing.

No way would I give the Nurses’ Ball a passing grade this year. There was just too much story manipulation going on and little Spencer Cassadine’s interruption was uncalled for.

OK, the ball is over. Time to get back to work. Send Sonny off to his island or dump him in a well someplace no one will find him; let Michael actually do something as the new CEO of ELQ; unmask unLuke; bring back Spinelli with baby Georgie so Maxie can kick that Aussie out and play house with Det. West who will turn out to be a great babysitter. I am looking forward to the Nina Clay story. It is going to be interesting to see how things work out with Madeline’s crimes against her daughter and the pharmacist. The Nic-Liz-Ric triangle is about as interesting as watching paint dry.

I agree. And have you noticed that the adults are acting like children and the children are acting like adults?

OH god… excuse me…

but… watching Michaal and Kiki lord one over.. on Luke and even Tracy

BIG mistake

dull versus beacon… Michael and Kiki… best Luke and Tracy ? serious repercussions if they dare venture

Michael in the position of power… dull spotlight.. especially with Kiki… LOL

at the very least… they could show Luke.. with Britt, Jordan… or back to Sam…

whatever

I thought the whole ball was dreadful and I will be happy if I never have to lay eyes on Dr. O, Sabrina, Brad, etc. ever again. Why have they forced DR O on us? Because she can sing? I think her character is too campy and the actress chews up the scenery and spits it out–on short, she over does it.
And Lucy gives up Kevin for Scotty? Not remotely believable and it’s disappointing to see Lucy acting less mature than Emma. Immaturity in post fifty year old women seems to be a hallmark of GH right now. Just ask Alexis and Traci.
Oh, and I really could have done without the kiddie soap–I think that is only being written fro Ron’s entertainment. Clearly, he fancies Spencer as his young self. No one finds the kiddie soap opera remotely interesting and adding insult to injury, they have the tots trying to dance the tango rather than the very graceful and talented Duke and Anna.
Then the ball closes on Sabrina and Patrick….who is crying…again. Maybe some fairy dust got in his eye.

The nurses ball was great, what were you watching? LOL. Nothing makes you happy, you sound so negative and miserable. LMAO.

whoa.. a bit bitter..
Tune out.. do not watch such a horrible thing!

Uh Helen, and Su00, I repeat, people have the right to voice their opinion which might be different from yours without being called negative, miserable and bitter. If you want to live in a Pollyanna world with rose colored sunglasses not recognizing reality, then fine, that’s your choice but you MAY not make that choice for others through idiotic and silly name calling which only reveals yourselves to be the fools that you are.

Excellent analysis, Harry, although we will continue to disagree on Dr. O. She has not been forced upon us (unlike a certain nurse for whom we both hold a mutual contempt….) Many viewers, including myself, enthusiastically championed a larger role for Kathleen Gati because we found her to be simply enchanting and entertaining due to her multi-talented performances. I can understand that she may not be everyone’s ideal, but she does bring a certain vim and verve to Port Charles that is truly unique. I love her musical interludes, comedic charms and dramatic turns…..over-the-top, yes, but very well done by a consummate professional! Other than that, spot on!!!!

I love kathleen Gati she is a diamond among a bunch of rhinestones

she shatters all repitition

she beams… she beckons … she leads

a desireable feat unlike … Monica in her hey day

heck throw in Leslie in her hey day

this lady pedestals GH… and she likes being a part of

she has an audience

It was all wonderful, but Dr. O’s Always on My Mind, was incredible…. one of my all time favorite songs… and she just killed it!

Nice going, GH

This was a good example of veterans getting meaty storylines. I would like to see more of it than these new filler characters who really don’t make much sense to the canvas. Raise your hand if you want to see Maxie with Nathan West and have Levi go back to Australia.

Yes Please!

I can’t stand Levi! Then again, the actor who plays Nathan is awful too, but as a character (that can always be recast) Nathan is interesting. His mother is the evil but absolutely hilarious Dr. Obrecht, he was raised by the conniving, manipulative Abby Ewing-esque Madeline, and his thought-to-be-dead sister is being played by Michelle Stafford. He is connected to three very interesting characters played by tremendous actresses. Levi is connected to no one and serves no purpose whatsoever.

Levi is only there to delay an obvious pairing of Nathan and Maxi…Levi is also a control freak over Maxi…hope he caused the Patrina accident and leaves soon…

Just another example of how off base this regime is. The actor playing Levi is charming and energetic and Australian. GH has struck gold several times in the past with Aussies… Robert, Mac, and Jax. Why would they not have this Levi be an unknown son of Robert or Mac, or a brother to Jax….and allow him to be a charming new leading man? And develop a REAL triangle with Maxie and Nothin’. Oops, I mean Nathan. It would give him a historical connection to veterans and not be so heavy handed and in your face. And this guy can act circles around Ryan Peavey. It is always cool when soaps test chemistry first rather than be pig headed and charge headlong into couples or stories that may not work.

When the show created the character of Levi they knew he would be on for a couple of months but maybe they’ll change their minds. It wouldn’t be the first time on a soap that a character was only supposed to be short term stayed longer.Plus who is to say Levi won’t eventually turn out to be Robert,Mac or Jax’s son. However i would make him Robert or Mac’s son and not Jax’s.Plus Levi been Mac’s son could explain why he’s with Maxie.

Big rumor surfacing is that Vanessa Marcil is coming back to gh as Brenda Barrett. I hope this happens, I miss Brenda.

I also hope Vanessa Marcil comes back as Brenda and with Sonny’s life spiraling out of control now would be a good time for Brenda to return.Plus she could come back with info about who bought Barrett Industries.Plus there are rumors that Maurice Benard might take some time off during the Summer. So if Sonny is exposed as AJ’s killer maybe he flees Port Charles and ends up encountering Brenda somewhere. Also maybe Brenda returns with a baby.I know she said she and Michael didn’t have sex last year but she may have lied rather than risking Sonny and Michael’s relationship been destroyed.

Sonny needs to die in a violent mob shoot out or go to jail for life. Seriously…if you were Brenda….would you choose a man who was emotionally and physically abusive to you for 20 years like Sonny…or a white knight who treated you lime royalty like Jax? I get that soaps are fiction….and they have to be to think that ANY self respecting woman would choose Sonny over Jax.

Brenda has been mentioned a lot lately and I always thought she and Sonny were a great pairing, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Sonny/Olivia, mostly because of what Sonny has become – a cold blooded murderer. And after sleeping with Ava in the Quartermaine cemetery, I absolutely lost all respect for him.

I would also really love if Jax returned, I miss Ingo Rademacher! He and Carly were a much better pairing that Carly and Franco.

Um….when in the past 20 years would you have had respect for Sonny that suddenly caused you to lose it???? He has always been a greasy misogynistic self-centered self-pitying hypocritical violent thug murderer. Shooting his own son point blank in the chest didn’t make you lose “respect”? These kinds of characters are okay in limited run prime time shows like Dexter, The Sopranos, etc…but 21 years of seeing a murderer go unpunished is overkill and disgusting and more than a reason why there are only 4 soaps left. We do not enjoy seeing evil continually triumph.

Oh I wish, but she just signed on for a show, so I doubt it would be a long term thing…maybe just another 5 minutes. If that’s the deal, pass.

We learned from the Robin nightmare.

Don’t like her at all…Used to…but have no desire to see her back again. That was part of the old gang…Sonny, Jason, Brenda, Robin…the dynamics have changed so much. I see Sonny with Olivia, Dante, Lulu, Alexis, Michael, etc. His “family” doesn’t include her anymore….

IN so many ways… Sonny has “reached” his prime : primed OUT

Brenda would not resuscitate

the only two women… who could

Connie
and the lovely ex AW actoress Dahila Salem

if he’s to lead with supporting… these ladies would carry with

Im mostly ok with nurses ball and found it entertaining…however, Scott shouldve hired Player to perform for him and Lucy…the children shouldnt be in a silly love triangle…it may work with Alfalfa, Darla and the rich kid in the Little Rascal comedies but not in a soap opera aimed mostly at adults! If you want something interesting for the three children than maybe put them in a Tom Sawyer type adventure: Maybe Fluke goes after Spenser, Emma and Cameron to silence them because one of them has learned his true identity and he chases them around Windmere and the island with all four trapped in a cave…maybe Britt saves them and Nik forgives her?…just an idea!!! Epiphany destroys Mr.Marbles was poorly acted and directed…Epiphany, afterwards, should have went to the ladys room and found a very angry Mr. Marbles waiting for her in one of the stalls and he menacingly chases after her down the hall like Chucky and she disappears for days only to appear later as the dummy in an act with Mr.Marbles…dont understand why Bobbi and Lucy are fighting over The Pillsbury Doughboy…lol…maybe the mens strip act shouldnt have been especially with children there and T.J. definately shouldnt be apart otherwise i was ok with it…nice to see a softer side of Dr.O…this was about aids…someone from amfar and families who lost loved ones from aids shouldve taken part and talked about it in discussion on stage…a band shouldve played soft romantic music with couples like Anna and Duke and Mac and Felicia out on the dance floor…this shouldve been a real live two hour televised event with some actors in character taking pledges over the telephone…all said imho!!!

funniest part:

LOL… Scotty Baldwin as the pillsbury dough BOY

LOL… he was hot to trot in his day…. does he deserve a lady love… sure… and it should end up with Lucy… or Dianne heck even Alexis… as she’s too staid and puritancial with Julian

I think Scott and Alexis would make a better pairing…

Me thinks Alexis belongs with Kevin….she’s so neurotic she needs her own full-time personal shrink!!!!

I love Alexis and I love her with Julian…hope they keep him on and give us more air time with this couple. So far we haven’t seen much of them interacting.

I also love Scott. He’s from back in the day…I find him endearing…and I think he deserves a break in the romance department. He was dumped by Laura…confused by Laura with her split loyalties…and I think he and Lucy truly are best friends. They have a certain rapport. I like Doc also…but he’s not seen as much so I don’t have as much of a tie to him. I do hope he stays regardless of how it plays out…if not Lucy, hopefully some other.

And I love the kids. I think they’re all adorable and add a touch of whimsy and innocence…and a sense of family as they’re seen more and more with their parents…

Im fine with the kids but not in a love triangle…as for Alexis and Julian they are ok but i dont feel them as a couple…that could change…i just dont see Lucy and Scott together…like her better with Doc!!!

I loved DR O singing, she has a sexy sexy voice. lol. The lady can sing. Is Donna Mills coming back as Madeline? I hope she is coming back, I Love Donna Mills as Madeline. I cannot wait until Michelle Stafford comes to general hospital as Nina CLAY, Michelle is a wonderful actress. 2 WEEKS AGO, I HEARD GOSSIP THAT LOUISE SOREL EX Vivian Days of our lives will come to gh as the new Helena Cassadine, that would be really really good, if that happens. I

I certainly HOPE Donna Mills returns

I thought… she didn’t start to shine… until she was in the jail cell… with Kathleen Gati

what an opportune time.. for her to reel… with Michelle Stafford… and beckon… the audience… with her sister….. dr. O… to startosphere… this part of the GH pie

Reportedly Donna Mills is back taping at GH.Plus with Nina waking up it makes sense that Madeline will return too. Also i’m sure Nina won’t be happy with her mom for drugging her and costing her 20 some years of her life.Plus i still think there’s still more to what Madeline did than we currently know.Maybe Silas and Nina’s baby lived but Madeline got rid of it somehow.

OH god

you make a good point : “… i’m sure Nina won’t be happy with her mom for drugging her and costing her 20 some years of her life”

you spoke like you knew DM’ Abby from Knots… this is right UP HER ally… with evil incarnate deelish

I have always loved the character Scotty but I don’t like the storyline of him breaking up Doc and Lucy. Scott belongs with Laura, I don’t know why we got a little glimpse of it and then the writers dropped it. Doc is the only one who understands and keeps Lucy grounded. I do hope they can make up again. The Nurse’s Ball was a hit I think. If Spinelli isn’t coming back to Maxi, I sure hope she gets with hunky detective. AND, please no more Sabrina and Patrick.

I thought the Scotty and Lucy take… was a tribute and commemorative salute to veteran

AND : they pulled it off

it was mind numbing… dumbfounding to see Kevin… stagger out and with Mac

Felicia caring

Tracy whetted

OK… veteran pull

works

I love the veterans. I would be happy if the writers would bring back more old characters who made GH what it is today. Working around the core characters has worked for all the other soaps and they are going strong. In my opinion it isn’t necessary to bring in new characters when you have such fabulous characters already there. I love them but I’m just saying I love Doc and Lucy together and there are many storylines that they can be involved in without her breaking up their marriage (even if that has been her trait in the past). I have loved Scotty since he first appeared on the show when he was a teenager but why must he always be portrayed as a scoundrel. Bring back his daughter and get him involved with Bobbie. She brings out the good in him.

I loved the Nurse’s Ball. Don’t like the Doctor O character (guess we aren’t supposed to, right?) but her acts were great. She’s a talented performer. The look on Mac’s face when Epiphany stomped on Mr. Marbles was priceless. All the performers were first class. I wish I had recorded it so I could go back and watch again.

And, I agree Patrick, the scenes where Doc’s pain was so obvious you could definitely feel his pain. The fight scenes at the bar with Mac and Doc were great. Yep Scotty and Lucy definitely stirred the pot for a lot of characters. I also cheered a little when Ned dumped faux Luke out of ELO. Luke wasn’t expecting that. It should cause some friction. I have to say the Nurse’s Ball rocked in more ways than one…

I just found the four days very uneven with some scenes dragging on too long and others being rushed, perhaps a poorly executed editing job on the show’s part. I enjoyed all the performances just thought there should have been less gaps in between them. Next year I would skip the red carpet altogether, organized the scenes so everything flows better and keep the performance part of the ball to three days–and that should tighten things up a bit and make the whole thing easier to watch.

It was very entertaining – Loved that the vets Lucy/Scott/Kevin/Tracy/Luke got to be in the spotlight !!!

Love Ms Gati but I think the character of Dr. Obrecht has become so cartoonish that it just doesn’t make any sense at all to have her there !!

Love Maxi and Nathan !!

One Complaint – wish they hired some extras to fill the ballroom and make it lok like there was a full house !

The Ball was great!
everyone one worked very hard to give us their best..
A lot of rehearsals, working with all the extrans, the sets, the bands, the talent was awesome..
It was done very well ..
I thank all for bring us their best for us to have a good fun time!!

The cast was happy while bring us something very unusual for a soap, showing us their other talents..
they worked hard, just for us to enjoy a good time..

I have no complaints,..
Having complaints is being bitter, petty, rude, nasty, and not called for when people give their best for you..

Then why is it okay for to visit Fairman’s other blogs on other shows such as Nashville and The Young and the Restless and blast those shows because you don’t like care for them? You do this frequently.
No one calls you bitter, petty, rude and nasty nor should they because you are entitled to your opinion. Me thinks you have a bit of a double standard here.

Not to mention all of the myriad reprehensible comments regarding Kimberly McCulloch and Robin Scorpio-Drake. Those “Su the Vampire Slayer” fantasies about impaling the character, not to mention the repeated wishes for her to be run over by a bus were really over-the-top!!!!

Just getting more frustrated with the writing…. who would ever give the reigns of ELQ to a KID, with no education and no business experience! How is this even in the relm of possibility and who with a sliver of common sense would think that dysfunction would be tolerated?

Perhaps lets just make it more real….

I can now see how tough soap writers have it. Just from the small amount of people who post here it’s interesting to see how many different opinions there are on the show, characters, etc.

For everyone who loved the Ball…others hated it.

For everyone who loves a couple or a particular character, others hate them/him/her.

I personally LOVED every single minute of the Ball. I thought it was enjoyable, moving, fun, zany, just a great display of talent, and, as i said on another post…interlaced with many stories that they managed to tie in.

As to the poster above who thinks it was ridiculous to end with people gathering around Patrick and Sabrina…WHAT!!!??? I thought it was a perfect, fitting ending!

One of the things I love and miss on soaps is a sense of community, friendship, family…which was more depicted in soaps of ghosts past.

To have two central characters who are related and loved by so much of Port Charles standing vigil over their newborn…and then to have family and friends gather around them in suppport whilst the song “You’re Not Alone Anymore” is playing was poignant.

The Ball was over. Would you have liked people to go out for drinks and coffee instead?

Shakin’ my head…

I myself had no problems with the ending…i had a few harmless gripes here and there but i still enjoyed the show…especially Dr.O!!!

Thanks ‘Becca : “If I may”

this years gala premiere… was exactly that… RC/FV sophomoric challenge… should be acknowledged… with 4 out of 5 stars

they rectified my disbelief… after last years amateur feature : I would have walked that red carpet and scented my marks, with yoplait… bigger than mine

I didnt mind this 4 day gig… I paid attention to detail… found drama, comedy, intrigue… and I’ll tune in

I am with you about the ending, I thought it was perfect. Life goes on. While there is the NB going on, a life is hanging on to life. I thought it was really good on the family and friends of Patrina came and gave them support. I will say I was not crazy about the ball for me it was very choppy>

A “perfect” ending???? Puke-inducing is a far better description. And yes, rebecca1, coffee and drinks would have been more preferable than being subjected (once again….) to your beloved nurse and her non-stop weeping and whining! I mean, that is what people normally do after a big night out…not get together for a sing-along, group hug, and major melodrama in a hospital ICU where the risk of infection is so high these days for EVERYONE!!!!!!

Tsk, tsk, tsk…SHAY!!!! Paleeez tell me you’re joking! (I fear not.)

Patrick is Emma’s dad. Emma’s lil baby brother is hanging by a thread (and she knows there’s something wrong). Anna is Duke’s mother-in-law…and Duke family by association. Felix is Sabrina’s best friend….and so on.

We’ve now established you don’t like Sabrina. For the time being…or for however long, she is here (there) to stay and it’s very realistic and nurturing for loved ones to gather in support. It was particularly poignant on a night that was about support and love for those with health issues. It would be rather hypocritical to attend a fundraiser to support a disease (and people with it) and then callously not care or attend to family and friends in real-time crisis.

Yes, it was a PERFECT close to a fun-filled Ball.

Now go put on a pair of health care gloves and mask and protect thyself from the perils of GH!

I had no problem with everyone letting Patrick and Sabrina know that they care and are there for them.Plus since her son could die i have no issue with Sabrina weeping and being distraught.Did you expect her to be laughing and dancing?

In the sense that I have a visceral loathing to the character in question, no, I was not joking. But because it is always soo easy to get your goat with the “Sobby” slams, there was definitely some good-natured mirth attached to it!!! ; ) Still, I was making a serious point. After forcing last year’s NB to be all about the nauseating nurse, it was hardly necessary to wrap up the 2014 program with her AGAIN! As is usually the case, the emphasis on this character was way out-of-proportion, particularly in comparison with that of Robin. Why was there no salute to her and her contributions associated with this event, a more historical perspective on her involvement with this cause and a fond update/salute on her far-too-brief return to PC? As far as most people know, she left town to do noble humanitarian work, so to act as if she has once again been all but forgotten and cast aside is strange and unnecessary…and no, this has nothing to do with being a great fan of KMc….she has left the building, I get that, and I am fine with it, however, what I simply cannot understand is the need to constantly project that because Robin is absent then she MUST be replaced with this other person…why can’t Patrick just be set free and start afresh? Everything from this forced pregnancy storyline to the overdone melodrama of the “roadkill” birth (not my term….it’s being used on other sites, and it works for me….) is just TOO much! It is completely contrived and patently ridiculous….hence, for those of us who could not stand this storyline since its silly inception, yes, “coffee and drinks” would have definitely been preferable….as for my remark about the risk of hospital infections, I was being very genuine….this is an immense problem due to the overuse of antibiotics and masks and gloves aside, it is getting worse with each passing day. Ergo, an ICU is the last place that should be the scene for a sizable social gathering no matter how “supportive and heartwarming” you consider it to be.

Sigh…I don’t know what round we’re in in this “fight” but honestly? I don’t think your arguments hold any merit in this case.

Not only is KM gone from GH (for now or the time being or forever…) but so is Robin. Her name doesn’t have to be brought up in every episode on every occasion. I said this to another poster and I’ll say it again. She’s not dead; she’s not dying. The Ball doesn’t have to be about her…nor do they have to mention her each time they hold it. If/when the character dies…and IF it’s from the disease, I would see it appropriate and emotionally moving.

As for Sabrina…you and other viewers on every site should really just move on. There are always characters on shows that people don’t like. Just as in real life. To harp on it constantly and have it come up in every discussion about ever scene the character appears makes the disgruntled viewer much more annoying than the character in question.

I don’t get/never got why there is such a hatred toward this character (Sabrina.) Thought she was too young? Fine. Too lil-girl-with-a-crush? Fine. Too unsophisticated? Fine. On and on and on,

She grew up. She has good values, standards…a good heart. She cries? So what. So do I. A lot. It’s just my makeup. She was good to Emma? Loves Emma? It’s genuine. She loved a man she thought was a widow? What’s wrong with that…

All in all if you don’t think the character is right for Patrick your and any othe dissatisfied fan’s perogative. But to go on and on and on with one venom-spewed comment on every post…it’s kinda tedious. And redundant. I only talk about Sabrina in response…and yes…I like her. Not my fav…but then again neither is Robin. Man! Don’t you remember how sugar and spice Robin always was? As for acting…I find Teresa quite plausible…no less nor better than Kimberly’s.

I don’t get what you or anyone would find offensive about friends and family supporting their loved ones in a time of crisis. Ball or no Ball. And, for that matter, the Ball had ended!

As for germs…LOL..I think any intelligent person is well aware there are hideous germs and dangers lurking in every corridor of every hospital. On the other hand…errrrr…the name of the show is General HOSPITAL where many of the characters find themselves every day!!!! The family was in the hall…with Patrick and Sabrina…the same place they’re in every day on this soap.

So, in closing dear Shay…I repeat…for me, The Ball was a lot of fun…and had a PERFECT ending!

The main problem is not Robin or a lack of Robin….yes, there should have been a more satisfying method of handling her comings and goings, but that is neither here nor there for me….what is at the heart of this, and many previous “discussions” is the fact that a character who has been extremely polarizing from Day One has been forced onto the GH canvas. As you yourself have admitted, rebecca1, you know how very derisive this issue has been for a lot of us due to your visiting other websites….I have witnessed the same, and was actually amazed at how many concurred with my own visceral dislike of this insipid creature. Generally speaking, when the feedback is so overwhelmingly negative, someone somewhere in the chain of command takes note and tries to make an adjustment to the source of discord. As a long time soap viewer, I can definitely think of numerous instances where this has taken place because audience approval has traditionally mattered to showrunners….however, this situation has been different. However, it seemed to me that the more vociferously we complained about this particular person usurping the time and space of the Port Charles landscape, the more obstinate the current management became about doubling-down on her presence. Quite frankly, I have never seen anything quite like it, especially for such a lame and unnecessary character. In many ways, she reminded me of the so-not-missed GH Nurse Jolene Crowell from years back…she was also one of those cornball, saccharin types (but at least she didn’t monopolize episode after episode or an entire NB….) After first being paired with Spinelli she set her cap for the out-of-her-league Prince Nicky….(sound familiar?) and they did a little dance for a brief time until the ptb’s (and the starry-eyed girl herself…) realized it wasn’t working and Claire Coffee left the show….don’t know if it was her decision or not, but the actress has gone on to greener, primetime pastures. At any rate, this “romance” was no more plausible than the “Putrina” one we have had crammed down our throats ad nauseum….difference was, it was nipped in the bud due to an unenthusiastic response. And that is what has been missing in this situation….all we have ever asked is that our complaints be heard and addressed….as this has not occurred, yes, we have continued voicing our displeasure…so what? Others have repeatedly done likewise in reference to Franco, Kiki, Luke, Ava, Sonny, and so on and so forth….I myself have criticized a variety of characters, however, literally the only posts that ever elicit the reactions as being “venomous” or nasty are those about the nurse. And this is not only true for me….I have read similar slams on fellow posters who were merely stating their opinions on this matter….there is definitely a double standard when it comes to this specific character and what comments are acceptable, as opposed to any other one which comes to mind. There is no sense of proportion when it comes to those defending her. As for your assertions that my views on this character are tedious, well, that’s what I think of her! Plus, you act as if I never write about anyone or anything else, which is the furthest thing from the truth, as I often post (at length) on a variety of subjects, and not all of them are critical in nature, some are quite effusive in their praise. Lastly, doesn’t this site, not to mention others like it, exist for that very reason??? So that we can share, discuss and debate our various views??? At any rate, I get that you like this character, and I can wholly accept that….but you also have to recognize that there are many, many people who do not, and as such, need to tolerate our immense, expressed distaste for her, as well!!!!! As for the NB, I’m glad YOU enjoyed it, rebecca…some did, but as evidenced here, a goodly amount did not, for various reasons enumerated. Such is life!

Shay…if you read Michael’s part two with Ron C…he says, which I think makes sense, that there are a LOT of opinions…and not just from 20-30 people per various sites.

As you yourself just said, for every viewer who rips apart “Sabrina”…there are just as many fans who adamantly defend her.

I don’t know what will happen with the character moving forward. I personally tend to doubt they will pair the two again since Patrick literally dumped her on their wedding day for Robin…I don’t think there’s a coming back from that. But I do hope they keep her on the show…with Carlos would be great as I like him. However, unless he gets some kind of get-out-of-jail-free pass I don’t see how he’d be comin’ round again…until, and if, Connie and Sonny are proven to be the murderers.

My point is whether you like Sabrina or not, the story is already in place. She DID have a love affair with Patrick, they WERE engaged to be married, Sabrina and Emma DO have a warm, affectionate bond…and Patrick and Sabrina ARE having a baby. You can’t just pretend that all those things didn’t happen. They did…and as said, we don’t know how that’ll carry moving forward if at all.

So, in relation to The Ball, it made perfect sense that this family of Port Charles citizens, on this very special night of charity…wind up with two central characters, tied to so many people, in a time of crisis. Regarding…a tiny baby whose life hangs in the balance…sung to a very beautiful song which encompassed so many sentiments/people.

Ah, redundant sentiment? Yes..but I must repeat. PERFECT!

And correction…not Connie…AVA.

Not a fan of this years Nurses Ball can understand the last scene but would- have wanted a core character to make the final. Speech like Anna or Duke who understand what the ball studded for

Once again, Dr. O steals the show. What an awesome character and the actress who plays her! Why can’t GH focus more on her, her children, Nicholas and family, Luke, the gay trio, the Quartermaines, Liz, Julian, and Sabrina and Patrick;

and get rid of Sonny, Luly, Dante, Kiki, Franco, Carly

She was the best one at the nurses ball. Although I didn’t like the opener, I did like Always on My Mind. The song fits her situation with her children so well. The best song of the entire nurses ball goes to her.

What? The Winterbornes are taking over GH and putting the Quatermaines on the endangered species list. The writers get more revenue for the new characters, and that is why you are seeing core characters being swiftly replaced by new characters–most of them stunt casted. Wally Kurth as Ned has not been signed on and will leave soon. Why? He was a sight for sore eyes amongst all these vile horrible cartoon characters. And say goodbye to the veteran characters whom Ron only trots out for sweeps month with the protestation that, “I brought out your old characters, what more do you want?” Lucy would NEVER have given up her debonair and intelligent Doc for tha hapless and goofy Scotty, and I LOVE Scotty, but even he would agree with me on this score.

Wally Kurth does both GH and DOOL.So it might be hard for GH to use him because they don’t know if they’ll have him when they need him.Yeah i think Wally wants to stay on GH but the show might need a commitment of sorts from.It doesn’t have to be a contract but just his word that if he’ll ever have to choose he’ll choose GH.I do agree that RC should use the Quartermaines more but some of that might be out of his control.Plus Michael and Tracy are still on the show and playing prominent roles and Jason will probably return down the line.Plus maybe the veteran actors cost more than newbies do and that affects the show’s budget.

Am I missing a play on words or did you mean the Westbournes…

Oooo hope that Louise Sorel rumor is true. Can you guys just imagine her trying to win Nichols’s acceptance or a friendship with dr 0!! Wow!! Also more Lucy and Bobbie!! What if faux Luke is Damian Smith?????????

Louise Sorel…

brought Magic to Salem and Santa Barbara

PLEASE

I’m one of those long time fans who has always thought the Nurses Ball was a great idea but never really lived up to its potential as a galvanizing event in daytime to harness actual donations.

But I really liked it this year from start to finish. Lots of kooky stuff, some drama, some humor and enough beefcake to keep me happy. I liked the non Port Charles singer, but wish they’d done a throwaway line connecting him to the hospital somehow. But I guess that’s pretty minor.

The two things that were missing were Robin (duh) and a more direct reference to AMFAR – where is the banner with the non profit’s logo on it? Where is the crawl along the bottom with the website or phone number? Seems like such an easy thing to do to help viewers reach out.

ditto!

agree Andrew… sublimation be damned…. HIV – AIDS is mindset and aware

I certainly think.. the production… didn’t totally abysmally forget… they chose to drive story… and nook and crannied … nuanced… featured the finer points.. of all actors involved

I liked this marquee from start to finish as well….

HIV – AIDS should be acknowledged… a pervasive treatment that’s unheralded and is not forgotten by the affected… effected… and with care… is supported

The only direct reference that the showrunners seemed to be concerned with this year was the one that SCREAMED Yoplait GREEK! Yogurt!!!!!!!!

With budgets being the reason many of our soaps died big sponsors are big money. They had to shamelessly plug Yoplait…though I prefer Stonyfield Organic myself… 🙂

GH has a budget from ABC that they have to follow to the last penny probably but if the show can find other ways like sponsors to get money they might do it.ABC may not care if GH tries get sponsors to back the show because it’s not their money been spent. However then the show will have to advertise the sponsor’s products on air for at least for a few episodes. However if that’s the only way we can have the Nurse’s Ball and other similar events then i’m fine with it as long as they don’t do it all the time.

@rebecca1….Well at least we can agree that it was shameless, and also that “organic” is better….LOL!

@andrew hass….I have no quibble with “product placement” and promotion per se….it was just very suspiciously convenient that it was for the particular one in question. I will never believe that both the emphasis on the “GREEK” version of Yoplait yogurt and the “Blackie” no-show was not the brainchild of someone who had a particular beef with John Stamos.

Todays episode, the one after the ball, was great. All legacy characters except Franco… And the ‘mile high club’ distraction was ? Just idiotic?
Why didn’t they feature today on the site? Granted it wouldn’t have happened w/o the ball…but…it was the BEST GH in a long time. Just sayin!

Great???? It was totally sophomoric, as were nearly all of the characters featured! I love the notion of bringing back names from the past, but most of the ones currently on the Port Charles canvas are just a waste of space!!!! With the exception of the divine Anna Devane, the rest of them come off as ancient and tired, too much of the same old, same old….particularly Lucy, Bobbie and Scotty!!!! (But for the record, I do like Doc and I hope he sticks to his guns and dumps his trampy wife….they need to find a better woman for him!) As for Alexis, she is soooo needy that I’m actually embarrassed for her….there was nothing sophisticated or sexy about that love scene of hers.

Once again, we agree Shay. As far as Dr. O is concerned, I agree with you and the others, and I think the actress is talented and interesting, however, I think a little DR O goes a long way. I think she would be a more effective villain if they had her lurking in the shadows of Port Charles. I felt that making her Chief of Staff was a huge mistake. The greatest soap villains were always on the outskirts of the soap society–their mystery made them seem even more menacing.

I enjoyed the Nurses Ball for the harmless fun it was intended to be. Most of the people complaining are the ones that are usually on here complaining about everything, so that’s nothing new. Can’t please everyone, unfortunately.

Personally, I liked most of the performances. I think Wally Kurth’s Meat Loaf cover was probably my personal favorite. I thought the Ronn Moss cameo with Player was a pretty clever way to use him. Dr. O was a hoot, Tony Geary got to show off his stage skills, which was fun to see. Little Emma singing was beautiful. Loved the ending. Did I love every single performance? No, but I enjoyed the vast majority of them.

The 2014 GH Nurses Ball gets a thumbs up from me.

Wally Kurth was one of the best things about the Nurse’s Ball.

agree with you Dan! Also liked Molly and TJ…they’re very likeable together. I think I loved everything about it sans the killing of Mac’s Marbles!

My gut reaction

this years : Nurses Ball : far and away, much much better than last years

#1 : Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) at the epicenter, more like… Kevin is at the epicenter… how could Lucy and any hot blooded person… not LOVE, Kevin… he is the cats meow… I’d do any thing and every thing… to make this marriage work

way nice touch in that Mac and Kevin, shared there lives… upstanding… HOT… sexy

Friends

will Lucy stop nutting up and feel LOVE : Scotty is one thing… but the sure thing… Kevin… I hope… as readers will agree : it’s time for the writing team… to delve in to how talented and HE’s MUST watch… and dream

could Kevin and Tracy Hummm? say YES ? make a go of it : together
thats my story… and I’d love it

Jason Thompson : Dr. Patrick Drake

as soon as he enters our tele… you are immediately taken with how goodlooking… and what festers…. (scrubs fans) and his’ fans… is that he’s mega watt … meteoric… husband material…

so be it that he’s with Sabrina…. the baby drama is to ensnare and further story… whether we like it or not…

I wonder what happened to Carlos… did he take the fall for Ava ? he should be free’d to develop his own part – he’s worth the time

I can’t even go their… Patrick and Sabrina : it’s all written for ethos pathos and logos… so it’s go with till the writers bring back the real Patrick… even before he met Robin… to give him back HIS person – personality – what made him tick – lets’ steer back to HIM

on the horizon : Britt and Nathan have a family : a mother : a connection : support
the sisters… were at their best… Kathleen Gati and who’d have thunk… I’m bowled over… she’s related to Donna Mills… woah!

here comes Michelle Stafford… and she’s connected to a good group of actors… I hope she pals with Brad… FLIRTS IT UP big time.. with Franco… and brings, as only she can, admiration… from the audience… smart, gutsy, well rested, i’m here… let’s spar… and present

I hope for Olivia… will she dalliance with Duke… passion’ista

what’s over the bend …… Tracy and Luke abound : squire : whim : enchilada too much

couples were triggered:

Tracy and Luke
Olivia and Sonny
Britt and Nicholas
Liz and Ric
Maxie and Nathan
Brad and Lucas
Mac and Felicia
Lucy and Scotty

I hope the writers… because she’s all that… pave the way for Bobbi to come home

Kevin is my dream boat… OK through in Ned

isn’t it INTERESTING : that the Carly and Franco show… didn’t show.. or is going no

this sophomoric’ dance… was given a reprieve of sorts… the Nurses Ball… which is an announcement and proclamation… that hiv – aids is prevalent : racing for a cure… for humankind… is worthwhile

Thank you GH production

Loved all of the nurses ball 🙂

The nurses ball was just average this year with Kathleen Gati’s singing as the best performance. the kids were cute on stage but the rest just fair. I don’t care for the actress who plays Lucy as she is just too dramatic and overplays the part. Also Lucy is a bitchy character who deserves to lose Kevin.

In the past the nurses ball was a way to highlight AIDS/HIV Awareness. Last year, throughout the event they spoke of Robin quite often to emphasize how she lived her life. This year, Lucy made ONE blanket statement on the first day about a possible cure. That was it.

And we ended it with a tribute to Sabrina and her ailing baby.

Felix brings Emma to the stage to talk about Sabrina. Emma’s MOTHER is alive and has been for twenty years living with HIV. It would have been so simple to bring that point home to tie everything up. To emphasize the HIV is not the death sentence it once was.

I think it’s time to slowly phase Robin out. Until and if KM decides to return full time or they get another actress to play the role…it’s only logical that they mention her less and less and bring forth characters that are on the show. People move on…in real life too….

There’s nothing wrong with mentioning Sabrina. She did revive the NB…and unfortunately her own child’s life hangs in the balance. Robin is not dead…she is not dying. The Ball is not a tribute to her…it is a fundraiser for a disease which she happens to have. I don’t feel it necessary to mention her at every Ball…and it didn’t bother me in the least that they didn’t.

I agree. If KMC doesn’t want to be on GH full time anymore because she wants to do other stuff in her life that is her right. However that puts GH in a tight spot in how to use Robin in stories. As for the Nurse’s Ball it’s about HIV/AIDS and to help everyone who has that disease and not just Robin.

Amen….it was also unseemly in the respect that this is the second instance in a year’s time that this child has been treated to the prospect of an illegitimate sibling as a result of her father’s escapades. Not exactly a wholesome thing to be celebrated!

Robin had unprotected sex with Stone and that’s how she got HIV.So that may not be something she would want her daughter to do also when she gets older.

I totally agree, andrew… Robin’s mistake cost her dearly and created a twenty-plus year odyssey of morality tales on GH. Unlike today’s show which never seems to produce any negative consequences for bad life choices or poor behavior by its characters…..

loved all the actors/actresses singing on the GH Nurse’s Ball beautiful Grand Daughter and I have sat and listen to little Emma Drake singing let’s just say few times and have not deleted it yet off the DVR

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Photo: ABC

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

For information on Nancy’s event, including the stars who are s scheduled to participate click here. To purchase tickets to the event click here.

Check out the video featuring Nancy’s friends and co-stars below.  Now let us know, your thought son the line-up for the benefit and helping raise awareness and funds for ALS research via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Photo: SPeaceIG

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
