GH Nurses’ Ball 2020: Valentin Pours His Heart Out In A Song, The Elizabeth Webber Scholarship & Nelle’s Plot Takes Center Stage

This week GH fans have been watching a very different look Nurses’ Ball on the ABC daytime drama series as they scaled down the annual event due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its safety protocols.

Instead of the glammed up red carpet, the attendees wore t-shirts as this was to be a telethon and not an in-person gala. Gone were the tables of attendees watching the action on-stage, but what has remained are: the host with the most, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), the performances from the stage, and a storyline with some danger to it (there always seems to be one or two that collide at the ball every year) with Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) plot to nab her son Wiley and get out of town.

Perhaps, GH star James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) said it best when he tweeted at the beginning of the week  “GH fans – 2020 Nurses Ball kicks off today! In the midst of a pandemic… resilience, ingenuity & compassion are on full display at ABC Prospect Studios in Hollywood.”  And it was Stuart’s performance on Thursday’s GH that was by far, and as it has been every year, one of the highlights of the ball (whether you like this year’s look, feel and storylines, or not).

In story, Valentin is laying his heart out on the line for the woman that got away from him, Nina (Cynthia Watros).  As she watches him perform, she knows he is singing to her.  That is not lost on Jax (Ingo Rademacher), either.  As Valentin sings, all the other couples seem to heed the message of the song and are affected.  Later, following his performance, Nina and Valentin chat for a few where she says somethings are just not forgivable, and she means – making her believe that Sasha was her bio-daughter.

Other performances included a sparring Ned (Wally Kurth) and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), who recently are not seeing eye-to-eye when they performed “Lead Me Back to You”, which was an apropos choice given their bickering over ELQ, Dante, and Ned’s focus in life.

Things are all kind of messed up between Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Franco (Roger Howarth), Ava (Maura West) and Nikolas (Marcus Coloma).  And in a shocking moment on stage, Nikolas with a surprised Ava by his side, announces he is making a donation of  million dollars to HIV/AIDS research and a million to the telethon … and he’s endowing a scholarship for future nursing students in the name of his good friend, Elizabeth Webber!  Later, Elizabeth thanks Nikolas and is so touched by his gesture which makes Franco jealous.  Fast forward and Elizabeth overhears Ava and Nina chatting in the ladies room where Ava admits if Nikolas cheats on her it will make her quite the wealthy woman!

Nelle has blackmailed Julian (William deVry) to go kidnap Wiley out of his crib at the Quartermaines and bring her son to her so she can leave town.  He goes to the Q’a and chloroform’s Monica (Leslie Charleson) to get to Wiley’s room.  Brook Lynn (Brian Lane)has overheard Nelle’s plan backstage at the ball and plans to stop her, but at the end of the episode, Nelle lunges and swings a pair of scissors Brook Lynn’s way.

So, what did you think of James Patrick Stuart’s performance?  What do you think of the ball this year so far?  Do you want Nikolas with Elizabeth? Will Nelle get out of town with her bio-son? Comment below.

James Patrick Stuart’s father is one of the men from the 60s musical group Chad And Jeremy!!!

The Only thing I’ve liked;
Is– James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) preformance= awesome!
And-
Lulu and Maxie Valley Girl junk is barf bag!
waiting for them to jump up&down screaming AWESOME SAUCE!!
And-
Overkill with the heat necklace, it’s really annoying and weakly stupid, but hey huh..
00OOH and–
I hope Franko goes dark!!! luvin his evil eyes!
And that Nikolas turns Trueblood Cassidine like Grandma!!

So let me put my “predictable plot point” hat on over my horns and put forth the following theory….

Somehow we have to get to the “shocking revelation” that Psycho Nelle is Nina’s daughter. Nelle is now completely unhinged, and as such, she’s sure to get herself injured, whether her “husband” Julian shoots her (who could blame him) or she falls off the docks and cuts herself on some sharp object trying to get away from him, or manages to escape in her car but then wrecks it or …. well you get the idea.

So Nelle will lose a lot of blood in the process and will need a transfusion to save her life. Joss might be a suitable donor, with the kidney transplant & all, but in typical soap fashion they will discover some “rare blood factor” that requires a close bio relative to save Nelle’s worthless life. Somewhere in all this confusion Jax will find the half-hearted necklace in Nelle’s possession and the lightbulb will pop in his head that “Unholy shit! She’s Nina’s daughter!!” and Nina will get to the hospital to have her blood drained just in the nick of time.

Who wants to bet their soul that this ain’t the way the story’s going??

Heeey Satan :)——-

The purely good turn dark bad
The dark bad turn purely good——–

It’s a great way to create new characters from the old
so not to have to hire new actors; just turn them.——

So- eventually Nele will turn good (unless she dies)—-

I’m excited for Roger/Franco to turn dark,
he will own the darkness!!!
Roger is born to rock the dark!
I miss Franco/rogers ”humour” his drama acting.——–

Whoever gets tagged up with Liz she kills the guy by sucking the exciting vivid life out of him and turns them into Stale moldy nothing.
FREE FRANCO!!!

As for the necklace junk, just that junk..
I could care less who is Ninas, daughter- so what lol

liz is an emotional vampire .. she now belongs in that ugly stupid castle with Nicholas! You’d think with all that Cassadine money that could have afforded a decorator after all these years… so over that heap catalog heart necklace it’s mass produced!

Satin
I have to agree with you. Although I’d prefer your other scenarios, getting shot, drowning, etc, it will most certainly go your way or all the hype of Nina finding her child would not come to fruition. I hope they aren’t planning on rehabilitating Nelle when the truth comes out. They have done enough of that with other characters. Enough is enough already!

This offer seems like the epitome of why you never make deals with the devil.

James Patrick Stuart’s “can you feel me” was beautiful. If he hasn’t recorded it he should.

I love the song and I want to play it at my wedding some day but he has not recorded it. So please James Patrick Stuart record this song for me please.

Although Valentine is my least favorite character on GH I enjoyed his performance of “Can You Feel Me.” I actually listened to it 3 times and looking for a way to save it on my playlist. I guess I will also listen to the original song writers version because I’ve never heard of this song before. Very good job Valentine! ❤️

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Walks Away From The Mob After 30 Years; Steve Burton and Maurice Benard Deliver Emotional Moments

Published

By

Steve Burton

Is this the end of an era? It certainly looks like it after Jason (Steve Burton) explained to Sonny (Maurice Benard), why he can no longer work for him, and be his right hand enforcer for his organization on the Monday, August 3 episode of General Hospital.

In story, Jason filled Sonny in on everything that went down before he was taken into custody by the WSB including: his opportunity to kill Cullum, Rocco shooting Cullum on the pier, being carted off to Jakarta, and watching his son, Danny, who now only has one parent (since his mother, Sam McCall died in 2024) suffer the consequences of his actions. Jason made clear to Sonny he must be there for his son now and needs to set a better example for him.

As emotional Jason is trying to get the words out and becomes overwhelmed with sadness, because he is truly caught between his son and the man that changed his life after Jason sustained longstanding brain damage from being injured in the car crash nearly 30 years ago in 1996.

Jason and Sonny

Jason recounts to Sonny what led him to this decision, “The WSB’s taking me in. They throw me shackles and then they force me in the back of a transport. Danny was there. He’s pounding on the door. Tears in his eyes screaming that what they’re doing to me is wrong. They just can’t take me off. I’m sitting there wondering, ‘What the hell have I done to my kid?’ His mom’s dead. I’m going to prison if I’m lucky. Something just breaks inside of me.”

“So, I promised myself, I got to do better,” continued Jason. “I failed my son too many times and I can’t do it again. If I keep working for you, then I’m going to make sure that your security’s my priority and not Danny. It’s not fair to you to keep me on when I can’t do the things I used to. I can’t kill for you again. I got to stop doing what I’m doing so Danny doesn’t follow in my footsteps.”

Next, Sonny lets Jason know Danny had already tried to join the mob in his absence, and that he knew Jason wouldn’t want Danny in this life, just like he would not want his own children. Jason thanks Sonny for handling the situation. He adds, “I just have a few years before Danny’s going to be out on his own. This my last chance to be a true father to him before he doesn’t even need me anymore. I’m out.”

Sonny gives Jason his blessing with tears streaming down his face, and tells Jason they will always be brothers, and they share a hug, before Jason exits.

Applause to Steve Burton who played the scenes beautifully, and Maurice Benard, who reminded us why the longstanding relationship between Jason and Sonny has been one of the all-time best and one of the cornerstones of three decades of GH. Burton should remember these scenes for potential inclusion for his Emmy reel for 2027.

So, what did you think of the scenes where Jason tells Sonny why he is leaving the mob and can’t work for him anymore? Do you think it will stick? In the past, these two have found themselves, often having to face a common enemy back working together and Jason goes right as Sonny’s enforcer? Were you moved by Steve and Maurice’s performances in the scenes? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob

Published

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.
