GH Preview – Week of August 6, 2018

Courtesy/ABC

Coming up on General Hospital, Ava (Maura West) makes a request to her brother Julian (William deVry), in regards to the baby blanket she has; which is evidence to clear Carly (Laura Wright) of all charges of pushing Nelle (Chloe Lanier) down the stairs, but implicates her in the process.

Speaking of Nell, she is in hot water and under arrest at the PCPD.  Will she still make a great escape, or be sent to prison for long time?

Elsewhere, Dr. Bensch’s (James DePaiva) trial gets underway, with Kiki’s (Hayley Erin) liaison with Griffin (Matt Cohen) on the verge of being exposed.  If it is, what will Ava do when she finds out their indiscretion?

Check out these teasers below, and then let us know, which story you are looking forward to seeing the most in the comment section below.

Love Ava, but this storyline extension is lazy writing. Ava can just burn the damn blanket, throw it in the river, or the trash. It’s stupid. Also, I’m SO tired of the parking lot hire getting more and more material. I cringe every time I have to FF a scene he is in.

Is it just me, dmr, or is that a different blanket from the one at the shower? They’re not recasting the props now, are they?

Hahaha, Soaphound. The blanket looks the same to me from the #penguingate episodes. I may be mistaken, though (I don’t tune-in everyday).

Drew steps up again, making a donation in Michael’s baby’s name. Hard to believe these are the same people who continually ignore him and steamrollered over him to get to the almighty Jason. Poor Jason, skulking around dock corners thanks to Carly. This is the life he fought to come back to? Also, can’t WAIT for the day when Ava and hypocritical ex-Father Happy Pants break up. I don’t even care why! Maybe Matt Cohen will get to do something besides furrow his brow and look worried/afraid. I guess I’m just so happy Billy/Drew are doing so well, and looking… Read more »

Agreed. This lazy writing was Steve Burton’s “BIG” return?

I’m agreement with dmr below… sheesh, cut the thing up into tiny pieces and burn, toss in the river, throw down a garbage shoot, throw into a random trash can, bury in compost, etc…. why is this so complicated for her to deal with? it’s a blanket. it’s not gold bricks.

GH EP Frank Valentini On Taping the Sonya Eddy Tribute Episode: “It Was an Extraordinary Script, and It Was a Labor of Love That Day”

This week on General Hospital, the ABC daytime dramas series kicks off its 60th anniversary set of episodes, with what is sure to be the most emotional – the tribute episode for the late Sonya Eddy in honor of her beloved GH character, Epiphany Johnson.

GH’s executive producer spoke with Soap Opera Digest (in their latest issue on newsstands now), about how the show decided to handle the delicate subject of a real-life cast member’s passing and connect it to the story on the canvas of the soap opera.

In conjunction with GH co-head writers, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, the trio decided that if they weren’t ever going to be able to see Sonya as Epiphany again, that there was no way they were going to ever recast the role.  Valentini shared: “We decided it was important to honor not only Sonya, but Epiphany and we wanted to dedicate a full entire episode all about that.”

The EP went on to give praise to his writers, and the cast for their performances when taping the episode: “I think everyone was touched by what the writer’s wrote. It was an extraordinary script and it was a labor of love that day in honor of Sonya, who was so incredibly loved by everybody in the cast and  crew.

The way the death of Epiphany is structured on the airshows is key also to the upcoming Nurses’ Ball episodes set to air the following week. Frank expressed: “Epiphany is a very pivotal person in the Nurses’ Ball, so it’s almost like a part two (of her tribute).

The Sonya Eddy tribute episode airs Wednesday March 29th.
