‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Favorite Chandra Wilson To Make Another Guest Star Turn On GH

There will be a new doctor in the house at General Hospital, sort of.  Word on Monday from TV Insider is that Grey’s Anatomy’s Chandra Wilson, who is also a noted soap opera fan, will be taping a guest appearance on the ABC daytime drama series.

This is not Wilson’s first time on GH.  The popular ‘Grey’s’ star taped a guest stint in 2014 when she played Tina Estrada, a patient of Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom).

Now, Chandra will be the person doing the listening and the counseling, when she plays noted marriage and family therapist, Dr. Linda  Massey, who is hired to counsel Aunt Stella (Vernee Watson), Jordan (Vinessa Antoine), and Curtis (Donnell Turner).  Wonder how that will work out since Stella has objected to Jordan being anywhere near her nephew!

No airdate yet as to when the episode featuring Chandra will air.  But for the woman who plays Dr, Miranda Bailey on ‘Grey’s’, her jaunt over to the set of GH is not far, since Grey’s also tapes on the same lot on the soundstages next to the ABC daytime drama series.

So, what do you think will happen in the therapy session between Stella, Jordan, Curtis and Dr. Linda? Share your theories in the comment section below

I have no idea who that woman is. That being said
I ask-
Why ohh lord why a therapy session between Stella, Jordan, Curtis and Dr. Linda.
That is so not good..
I do not care about their dumb problems but a therapy session to bore the bejesus outta me is uncalled for lol..

NEW writers need a year ago.. GH is riding the stupid rail ..

Why, su000, why do they keep torturing us? I thought Ms. Antoine’s upcoming exit meant LESS Jordan, not more! Can’t we marry off Aunt Stella to Mike and have them both ride off into the sunset?

Soaphound,
Gh is becoming critical.
Nothing is being done, nothing to revive it.
It needs to totally clean house and bring in writers that actually remember its glory days and the writing that made it so..

At the least they could go back 20-30 years and put new life into the old scripts- as they can not come up with good stories on their own so revising the glory days scripts and adding a modern touch to them just might be the ticket to save the day.

Perhaps a protest to clean house could help.dunno.

I really think GH is standing on its last leg

hi Jimh..
thing is– GH could be great !
GH has a cast of phantasmal actors, they need great stories and they are given junk.

Why ABC/DISNEY has not cleaned house to revive its 50 yr old prize show the loyalty for it is beyond me.
All they need to do is put effort into trying.
GH’s producers and writers is killing GH and that is more than obvious.

So do I, Jimh, and I have to say, it is well-deserved. Most days, GH is truly unwatchable….just utter, complete drivel dedicated to the most unnecessary characters and useless storylines….and when something doesn’t work, it will be utilized again and again, instead of moving on. As for this repeat stunt casting….why? There is absolutely no point to it….sort of like 90% of what is currently going on in Port Charles!

This is just so stupid! Is anyone really that invested in this relationship? I don’t remember who she played before when she made a guest appearance.

hi dmr ..
Aww c;mon.. just imagine the thrill of watching the therapy sessions between Stella, Jordan, Curtis – WOW huh !
(( gives me goosebumps, the excitement of watching therapy session!whoa!))

I actually do not mind Stella. I’m just not that invested in this couple.

Just catch a nap instead of watching. I suspect it’d be over your head anyway.

Love me some Chandra. I don’t think it will be a great bump in the ratings for GH; stunt casting rarely is, but Chandra is an enthusiastic supporter of daytime soaps and I welcome her.

WHY? Taking up more GH time that regular actors on the show should get! This women will not bring in ONE more fan to the show. Frank gets his rocks off stunt casting so I guess we have to deal with it! FF, for sure!

Stunt casting is exactly what this is, Timmm. I like Chandra on GREY’S, but I don’t know anyone who’ll suddenly start tuning in to GH because she’s on. I’m sure it’s a thrill for her, but my guess is fans would prefer more Genie Francis or another neglected “non-contract” favorite.

The show should be more focused on Brad, Lucas and the baby…

I agree Jim.

Carley has become a chore to watch..
She’s off the rails and an irritant, she needs to be dragged off and tranquilised.
Carley has become too much of a screaming banshee and singing the same crazy note.
((I used to really like Carly..no longer))

Jason is a Total fail.
That character has outlived its time.
He does nothing absolutely nothing worth watching= robot man

Jordan, Curtis are a fail. snooze.
I have zero interest in the hollow moulded couple.
(( Curtis should be the Top Cop))

Valentin it horribly wasted, shameful.
He could bring the action, intrigue, action after all he is the most feared Cassidine he put the fear in Helena for cripesake!
He is being written as a meek & mild lovesick begging puppy and that in itself is a sin put on a feared Caddidine.
The writers should be absolutely ashamed of their empty writing= Lazy, uncaring.

Thing is- GH lost everything that once made it great that being the Excitement and its uniqueness.
GH was Never as the other soaps it stood alone now it’s downgraded to a run-of-the-mill soap, nothing special.
And that is 100% the writer’s fault for appeasing the fans that wanted GH to be meek and mild and a love-in.

I agree with everything you said…i would had rather seen Curtis as a cop too…Valetin was suppose to be the worse of the Cassidines,,,but instead he is too good and should be living on Sesame Street…

YES! I love it-a screaming banshee! Carly should have been left in the mental ward!
Of course the writers portray the new District Attorney (who I am not a fan of) as already being defeated by the Corinthos Clan, and oh, wait for it, a baby blanket! How ridiculous is this storyline? #blanketgate #penguingate

To mention;
The online AMC and OLTO brought the soaps into the Modern media, brought the soaps into the now..
IF- the swearing was taken out, those scripts could/would save GH.they would kickazz for sure.
Those scripts are desperately needed to bring GH into the now, 2018/19
GH needs to bring in those writers !!!

Hi Su000, I HAVE to disagree with you there! The online OLTL show was beyond a miserable fail for me. I couldn’t have hated it more. The characters weren’t familiar; the few actors from the ABC version that went over didn’t even seem like the same characters to me. Thought it was artificial, boring…nothing like the show I loved. Whenever I reminisce about OLTL it has nothing to do with the reboot; it’s blocked from my mind.

Lucifer has been saved by Netflix which I think you know. THAT I’m so excited about. I’ll be subscribing to the channel once we find out when Lucifer airs. But I’m hoping they don’t stray from the network version. I loved it; too many times when another channel takes over shows they change it so much it just loses what I loved about it to begin with.

Same with Nashville. I know you never liked it so I’m just using it as an example for me. LOVED IT! And was so excited when CMT saved it. But; very disappointed in their version. Granted, I have the entire last season/series finale to catch up on but the little I saw of their revamping it left me missing the original more.

Don’t know if you watched Timeless. Great show that was also canceled. That, and The Originals. Too many good shows fail and too many shite shows flourish.

Hi rebecca 🙂
What I was mentioning was the ”writing” of the online soaps nothing to do with the actors/cast ect.
The writing was modern, for instance,
The Sex trafficking story was intense, intriguing and realistic. And, emotional, and never done before.

The Y&R sex trafficking story was pathetic and absolutely void of anything sex trafficking.
The writing of the online sex trafficking story was straight on and realistic.
The writing online was very good, different and not the same old reruns as we get with every story..

So, if those writers were to take over the GH writing staff GH would come into the 21st century.
Of course, the swearing would be out but outside of that, the soaps need a good shot of the online writing to pull them out of the 80’s ..

Hey, su000. You are one of the most agreeable people on this site and have been for years. No matter how much venom was swung about you managed to stay out of it and not take sides, etc. So, 🙂 Paleeeez take this with a hug and a smile…I so disagree with you!!!! LOL!

Dunno. I like the soaps as they are. I don’t expect them to be anything different than they are…”soapy.” That’s why they’ve last 40-50 years while most show last 6 months-a few years. Continuity. They’re always about family, friends, enemies, relationships, crime, passion, love, betrayal, etc…and a few, like GH, adds in the fantastical elements like the Cassadines, Casey the alien, freezing the world, memory swapping, etc. I don’t need to see modern sets (although I really like Ava’s apartment and the two new spots they’ve recently added: that littel table where Alexis and Sam met the other day and that little cafe (looks kinda funky/hip)…As far as the stories/writing: I think they’ve been mixing the classic soap fare with contemporary issues like the “me too” movement.

If I remember correctly you like Sonny but want him more gangsta. So, imagine if he was off the show. When many of us bitch and moan about missing characters it’s because for us, we loved many (like you do Sonny or whomever might be or was a favorite) and they’ve just been let go and replaced. That’s frustrating.

Yay! Lucy! (ifer)

Just had to add this; didn’t want to wait for approval/editing. I know you were talking about the writing of the online shows. That’s what I meant; the writing for the characters like Vicki, Clint, David, etc didn’t feel the same to me. I just didn’t feel the same connection to them that I felt when they were on the ABC version. Didn’t like the writing at all; wouldn’t matter if it was set in the Victorian era or some futuristic planet. Just didn’t like it.

hi rebecca ..
I gotcha yah!! Know what you’re meaning 🙂
I do want to say– every good conversation needs some controversy to keep it interesting and I really don’t mind ha arsh feedback it keeps me from falling asleep; reading love-in threads ahaa!..
I really like replying with Everyone herein- luvs em all.

Ok– I see why we differed about online. Thing is, those characters you love I’m not all that familiar with them so the online soaps really were good the way I saw them, the writing was quite modern.I liked that.

And aside- I liked Pratt’s writing wish he’d come back.. (I know many would not agree with that, but I like him.
sheezzs! how many years has FV been with GH, a decade?.. time for a change.

George Cheeks, CBS President & CEO, on Timeline to Launch New Daytime Drama, ‘The Gates’: “We’re So Focused on Getting it Right”

March 2024 will be remembered in the TV and soap world when the news broke that CBS is prepping a brand new daytime drama. Many had thought a major network would never bring a new daytime soap into the world, given that the last time it was attempted was 25 years ago when the now defunct Passions bowed on NBC.

However, The Gates is definitely in development and moving forward with some major players associated with it including: Michele Val Jean as The Gates writer, showrunner and one of its executive producers, and Sheila Ducksworth from NAACP Venture

Now, for the first time since its announcement, George Cheeks, the president and CEO of CBS and chief content officer for news and sports at Paramount+, spoke on the project that will feature a Black family as its central focus who live in a wealthy gated community.

Speaking with Vulture, and when asked if The Gates is really something that truly has a chance of getting on the air, Cheeks clarified, “It’s super real. And just to give you a little bit of the backstory,  when we hired Sheila Ducksworth to run the NAACP Venture, she and I had multiple meetings talking about what different genres she was going to lean into, and we talked a lot about daytime.”

Cheeks added, “One of the things that the data made very clear to both of us is that daytime soap operas over index with Black women, and yet when you look at soap operas, it’s usually sort of a white-led family with supporting characters that reflect more of our society. So we just thought, wouldn’t it be interesting to flip that and make the core anchor family a Black family, and then make the other characters reflect more the broader scope of society?”

The CEO gave props to Michele Val Jean,  and how Ducksworth came to the table with the former B&B and GH writer. “She found this great writer, Michele Val Jean, who’s been in the soap opera space for 30 years. She came up with a pitch, and we loved it,” shares Cheeks. “We brought Procter & Gamble into it as well, because if there were going to be (product) integrations, we could do it more holistically and organically. All of that is to say, we did a lot of work on the front end to put this together. So while yes, it’s development, it’s accelerated development.”

When prodded on the timeline of when The Gates could come to full fruition, Gates related, “The actual timeline and when we’re going to do it is still uncertain, because we want to get this right. I mean, there hasn’t been a new soap opera launch since I can’t even begin to tell you when. But we have great success with Bold and the Beautiful and Young and the Restless, and so we think we’re the right folks to be launching a new soap. I wish I could tell you more about exact timing, but we’re so focused on getting it right, and that will dictate when we’re ready to launch it.”

The CBS exec also shared that whether The Gates will wind up an hour soap or half-hour is not yet determined, but that it is being developed as an hour show.

So, after reading what George Cheeks, the CBS President & CEO had to say about ‘The Gates’, are you even more excited for what looks to the first new network soap in 25 years? Comment below.
