Looks like one of the greatest vocalists of our time, Kelly Clarkson is throwing her hat into the daytime talk show arena, with news today from Broadcasting & Cable.

Clarkson, the Grammy Award-winning singer, who got her start as the first American Idol, and has been recently appearing on NBC’s smash hit, The Voice, and is back for its 15th season is currently shooting a pilot for a talker with a proposed fall launch in 2019.

Recently, Kelly hosted the 2018 Billboard Music Awards back in May of this year.  Clarkson has a talent deal with NBC Entertainment, which now oversees NBCUniversal Television Distribution, including all first-run development for TV stations.

The show is said to potentially be offered to TV stations in syndication, or it could air on another platform or in a combination.  Nothing concrete has been noted at this time,

No executive producers were named at this time either, or others involved in the project.

So, how do you think Kelly would do as the next daytime talk show host? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

I know these rumors start every time a new daytime talk show is discussed, so let’s just put it on the table…..

Is ReRon’s disastrous writing signaling the planned demise of Days??

Well that and Jack returning the only way I ever saw that happening was to give Jennifer a happy ending.

There is rumor that her show replaces Days…daytime has gone to Hell!!!

Rest assured Days is safe.

…and not in a good way.

That is the ONLY talk show I would ever watch!! Kelly is SO funny and so genuine in interviews!!! I laugh out loud. She is self.deprecating and not at all affected by the trappings of fame!! Go ahead and google…Kelly Clarkson interviews, or Kelly Clarkson funny. Just watch the clips! Guaranteed her show would be a huge hit, it would not be political absurdity like The View. It would have a younger dempgraphic and people have grown up loving Kelly! You never see her in the tabloids, she is upfront and honest about her life and her struggles. I say YES!!!!!

She is horrible on the voice and I can’t stand her voice.

I love Kelly Clarkson she is the real deal, the lady can sing. Days is safe from cancellation, ratings are up. I will watch her talk show, because Iam a big fan of hers.

You have a good point. I forgot about that movie she made with Justin which was not a hit. She is real down to earth and funny. She has been in the business 20 years or more I think. So why not try something different. Time flys it seems just like yesterday when Kelly Clarkson became a star.

Sorry, folks, we all have our favorites. But frankly, I don’t understand Kelly Clarkson’s multi-media appeal. I mean, Dolly Parton or Barbra Streisand she ain’t. And do we NEED another celebrity-driven talkfest? Guess they should have thought twice before canceling all the beloved daytime dramas. All the more reason to keep reading alive!

I guess the fact that you cant relate to Kelly’s appeal would exactly be the way that a younger generation cannot fathom the appeal of two wanna be drag queens pushing 80 years old who are filled with plastic and silicone. Kelly’s vocal prowess matches and even surpasses either of the two you mention. That would explain her 15 year reign on top of the charts. Her very engaging and approachable personality makes her NOT a diva which is SO refreshing. She loves life, and loves to laugh, and is grateful for everything she has. She never forgets her roots, and she is very humble despite all her acclaim and success. Her weight goes up, her weight goes down like real people’s weight does. She doesnt hide or away or shy away. She will say “I starved myself in my 20’s. Im in my mid thirties. This is me after having a couple kids and wanting to have some pizza and a glass of wine.” She is quirky and charming and disarming and hilarious!!

People who only know OF her might think like you….she won American Idol, took the easy way to the top and blah blah yaboo. She was a trailblazer, but she has never rested on her Idol title, nor has she shied away from it. Sbe embraced it, but also worked damn hard. She had rough times in her career with labels who wanted to control her…some of her album sales were sluggish. But she kept reinventing herself with determination and strength and creativity. I would watch a TWO hour block of her show rather than ANY more of those insipid, ridiculous morning hybrid “news”/ infotainment shows like GMA. The hosts on those shows are so affected and phony I cant even watch them.

I had not heard that this KC vehicle may be a replacement for DAYS. I dont belive there is any truth to that. If there is, it would be sad to lose Days. I am a lifelong viewer. I dont think any soap fan can be REALLY surprised if any of our soaps are cancelled. These are shows that have had 50 year runs and longer. Those are amazing almost unheard of milestones in any other genre of entertainment. I am NOT a fan of talk shows…probably because I dont like any of the hosts, hat includes Ellen! But really…some of the hosts that these networks have tried talk shows with…are they REALLY that out of touch with normal people? Like…Katie Couric? Kris Jenner? Joy Behar? The list goes on.

Kelly would be a refreshing delight in the daytime landscape. I hope they let her do it HER way and ot will be funny and fresh and invigorating and entertaining! And don’t hate on her for unfounded reasons. She is not seeking out to destroy anyone.

Jovin, your presumptions match your hostility. All I said was I don’t understand her appeal. You felt the need to attack on a personal level. By the way, Parton and Streisand have achieved a level of longevity and influence on younger performers (including Kelly Clarkson) that are enviable. Let’s see where Miss Clarkson is in 40 years, both in popularity and on the “plastic” front. Also, you presume someone is of the older generation as if that were a drawback. You don’t know my age, so your comment is specious at best. This “oldster” also likes Lady Gaga, Charlie Puth, Ed Sheeran, Dierks Bentley, Green Day, etc. Good music doesn’t need an age group; it can speak to everyone. Peace.

It might interest you that Barbra Streisand has had #1 albums in EVERY decade since 1963, most recently in 2015. That’s 55 years. Kind of puts Kelly’s 15 year “reign” in perspective.

Jovin, age has nothing to do with music. Good music can be listened to by any age. And your personal attacks on two of music’s pioneers scares me. It reeks of “my way or no way”. That’s no way to live. By the way, Barbra Streisand has had #1 albums in EVERY DECADE since her 1963 debut, most recently in 2015. That’s a 55-year run of success. Kind of puts Clarkson’s “15 year reign” in perspective, doesn’t it? Regarding the “plastic”, let’s revisit Kelly in 40 years before making that comparison. Peace.

I guess we are both trying different things to get the other to do something neither of us wants to do. You are wanting me to imagine Kelly 40 years from now, and I dont want to. Lol. And I am wanting you to take a fresh look at her now in a way you might not have before, and you dont want to. Thats fine…to each his own. Im not a Streisand fan…youre not a Clarkson fan. I can certainly appreciate that Streisand is talented, and a fantastic singer, and I would never deny that. Im just not a fan. She is not my style and neither is her music. There is obviously an age gap here too which always plays a part. But with that said I like precious little of today’s pop music. I cant stand Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Ariana Grande etc etc who are popular today. I guess this all started with me just wanting people to know how funny Kelly is. I never knew until last year. I have always enjoyed her music, then one day youtube suggested an interview of hers for me…I watched it and she was hilarious! Who knew?? I didnt!!! There are whole youtube sections devoted to her being funny. Lol. Dont do it because I told you to….just do it if you ever have some time to kill and you want a glimpse of what a talk show with her on it might be like. Cheers.

Well said, Jovin. It might surprise you that I do think Kelly is a great singer and seems like a hoot in person. It’s refreshing when stars remember they’re real people and can laugh at themselves. Some of these new stars are SO self-important you feel like reminding them that no one is forcing them to be in show business! Do u know if Kelly has a greatest hits or “best of” album? There are a couple of her songs I’d like to add to my playlist. And I don’t get Ariana or Nikki Minaj either.

Thanks. I found one called Greatest Hits Chapter One. It was from 2012 and she has put out a lot since then! Just youtube her and her songs and interviews. I hope I got my point across and that I was not meaning to sound rude, although I should habe known better than to mess with a Streisand fan!! Lol.

I respect your passion, jovin. We all have to stick up for the folks we admire. Remember the battles over Jason’s return on GH? What a mess of differing opinions that was. But we got through it. And in retrospect, I hope Kelly makes a successful talk show. Lord knows she has more personality than Megyn Kelly. Oops, hope I don’t open another can of worms with that remark! Cheers, and thanks for the CD info! .

Talk! Talk! Talk! bullshit Talk and Talk and more Talk shows… Another Talk show is about nothing that really matters. I wouldn’t care if it’s the best actress, singer of all times. I do not want a talk show. I like soaps drama! PERIOD! DOESN’T NBC, ABC, CBS Understand the fans?

Look out Megyn Kelly, a likeable Kelly might be taking your spot

I wish she’d just stick to music.

Oh…you’d prefer to give her the Dixie Chick abuse of Shut Up and Sing? I dont think that a talented person in many formats should have to limit themselves. She is a singer, a songwriter, a childrens book author, a television show personality, a judge, a mentor. Better than the ones who TRY to do things and fail on all accounts because they have NO talent at anything!! (Kough Kough Kardashian). Yet our media is saturated with them!!

Wow…Are you just looking to argue? Everybody is entitled to their opinion. No need to go over the top.

She is a nice kid and can yap it up. DAYS days are numbered! Kelly wont get my eyes but I imagine she will get some viewers. Thing is, Meghan tried talk and she is hanging on for dear life. I thought Harry Connick was a good choice but he faltered. Daytime’s future looks like news, cooking and Bonanza by 2020!

RuPaul the drag queen, is getting a talk show in the fall of 2019. Lol too many stupid talk shows out there. Days better not get cancelled,I know the ratings are up, so that’s a good sign.

Another talk show is the last thing I need. I’ll pass.

Really like Kelly, but there’s no need for another gabfest. Just no.

I think Kelly should try acting or stay with singing. She has one of the greatest voices of all time. It be a waste for her not to use it. Maybe 10 years from now a talk show host. While she still can sing like she does she should bless us all with her voice until she can no longer hit those hi notes
