The amazing Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) is going for the gold at this year’s Daytime Emmys when they are presented on June 23rd from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on HLN! If Geary, who is considered the frontrunner to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, were to hit the stage it would mark his record 7th win in the category, and exactly 30 years after he received his first one!

TV Guide has an exceptional interview out today with Geary, where the soap icon talks about why he choose an episode with Luke in the Bordello as opposed to Luke’s intervention episode for Emmy contention, the good and bad of former GH head writer Bob Guza, (who wrote the emmy nominated episodes for Geary), and the four-way romance seemingly headed Luke’s way with Tracy, Anna, and Heather all vying for the man’s attention and heart!    Here are some interesting excerpts below!

Geary on if he agrees that Bob Guza gave him some best material he has had ever had to act with on GH:  “I agree. There were times Guza certainly infuriated me, so I’m not saying he wasn’t flawless but, when he did provide, it was pretty grand. I remember the day he called me to his office and said, “We’re going to have little Jake run down by a driver. There are several ways I can go but I want the killer to be Luke. What do you think?” I said, “Please let me kill the child!” I was so tired of having nothing to do that was challenging. It turned out to be a very difficult few months for all of us…in a good way.”

Geary on why he chose a different episode than the expected Luke’s intervention episode for his Lead Actor reel:  “GH  also submitted the intervention show for directing and writing. It was a great episode, and Bill Ludel has already won the Directors Guild award for it. But I decided to go with a simpler show, the one that aired a bit after the intervention where Lucky tracked down Luke at the brothel. I suppose the intervention was a more spectacular thing, but I thought maybe there was too much trickery — what with all the technology and the flashbacks — for an actor’s submission.”

Geary on how Jonathan Jackson (Ex-Lucky) was key in his decision to choose the Bordello episode:  Jonathan Jackson came to me and said, “I think you should relook at that episode at the brothel. It has a sort of mythic quality to it.” So I did. It was a rough one. It even had Luke telling Lucky, “I feel liberated for having killed your child,” which is just a horrendous thing to say and maybe too much for people. But I feel comfortable with it, basically because I feel so uncomfortable. That episode is difficult for me to watch and I’m way more exposed than I’m used to being. But if you’re exposing yourself to the point where you have to look away, that pretty much says you’re going the distance. Of course, with Jonathan that’s what you always do. For my money, he’s one of the five best actors on the planet. He just unzips his heart and bleeds for ya. We’ve known each other for so long now that our connection is almost on a spiritual level.”

Geary on playing the comedic side of Luke and his romantic life with Heather, Anna, and ex-wife Tracy all in the picture: “I never thought I’d see the day three women would be fighting over him! And me at age 60-blah-blah! Of course, one of them’s a lunatic, one’s a shrew and one’s a crazy bitch. [Laughs] I’ll leave it to you to figure out which is which.”

So soapers, what do you think of Geary’s Emmy reel choice? Are you betting on him to win?  And, what woman do you think Luke should end up with of the three in his Port Charles orbit now?  Do you think Bob Guza gave Tony some of the best material of his soap career?  Weigh-in!

Unfortunately, such dark material made me tune out of GH in the first place. While its great for Geary acting wise, how much can the audience put up with…again and again! I’m not asking for lollipops and pink lemonade as it is a soap but when you’ve had a show kill off so many beloved characters within several years it just makes your heart bleed. Then you throw in that Jake was a child AND the son of a popular coupling like Jason & Liz, it infuriated me. Who wants to rush home from work to see that? I find it ironic that to make Geary have his acting challenges met, their might be no audience left to watch it.

It’s highly irresponsible of him to call GH’s greatest heroine either a shrew, a lunatic or bitch. Way to sell the show to the fans Geary!

I agree…lame.

Bring LAURA back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m still trying to get over the fact that TG would use ANY of those adjectives to describe the character of Anna Devane. UGH. He must have taken GH history lessons from Guza. Jeez….

Jennifer – I suppose you’re talking about Laura? He was just being funny in describing Heather, Anna & Tracy. Heather is the crazy one of course!

Yeap, Heather, Anna, And Tracy are a shew, a lunatic, and a bitch, Anthony has a good sense of humor and it will be fun to watch him up against these 3 ladies. Jennifer, I, like Christy believe he was being funny. There is no way he really means what he called them. After all it’s a soap opera he is talking about.

I hope GH wins many awards even if it is about the death of a child. I hate those type of storylines but it gives the actors a chance to show us their best work.

I can’t see Anthony Geary with any of those woman on Gh (Anna, Tracy, or crazy Heather)………………..I liked him the best with Laura……They were soul mates….They were a great team….I want OLTL to win a lot of awards because it was my favorite soap of all three soaps…Erika Slezak & Robert Woods all the way………………………I am most loyal to OLTL………………………………………………………I feel sentimental towards OLTL……I am a LOYAL FAN OF OLTL ALWAY’S………………………………This was a very special soap to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Luke should have a NEW WOMAN in his life…………………Some new blood….Someone he never met before ………………I think he has won a lot of awards but I think it’s time to give someone else a chance………He’s a good actor and all .. Again give someone else a chance………………

Don’t you like Luke and Tracy? I think they are funny together. I always liked him with Laura but it doesn’t look like she is coming back any time soon.

I like Tracy..I remember her from years ago & she has mellowed a bit…With Luke I am not sure yet on that one…………..

I love him… and Luke! 🙂 They’re both funny and entertaining! I think it was a good idea that he picked a different reel than GH entered for the technical stuff… that episode wasn’t my favorite, but like many times when soaps decide to promote a real life disease, reality topics, ie: alcohol intervention, just isn’t as fun as soap stuff usually is…. and really like not like I think of Luke being like. There are many times with Luke and Tracy, and even Alice, that would be better to turn in.

I didn’t see the brothel scene – was it typical, funny Luke?

Can’t leave a comment for michael..Where the bottom of the screen says CONTACT……………………Can’t get past the code with the numbers & letters you are suppose to type in odre for you to receive my e-mail…This happen once before…

I think Tony chose the wrong episode to submit for the Emmys. He should have chosen the March 28, 2011 episode where Luke and Lucky have a confrontation at The Haunted Star over Luke killing Jake. That was such a powerful episode, and fantastic work from both Geary and Jonathan Jackson. I just watched it again on YouTube and literally got chills watching those scenes. That’s how good they are.

I hope he doesn’t miss out on winning because he chose to submit the wrong episode.

Heather is a lunatic, Tracey a shrew, and Anna’s the crazy bitch.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Josslyn Learns She’s Been Kidnapped by Cassius Faison

Now it’s sink or swim time for WSB agent Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy)! Can the skills she learned training under Agent Vaughn and being lured into the world of being a spy by Brennan, help her survive being locked up in the same room Anna Devane was? That is the latest wrinkle to her reality that kicked off on the Thursday, May 7 episode of General Hospital.

In story, after having a knockdown drag out fight with “Nathan,” eventually Josslyn is left unconscious and wakes up in the same room that Pascal and company had tormented Anna in for weeks. When she comes to, Josslyn is in a panic and does her best by breaking a hanger, (there are nice clothes left for her on clothing rack, and some snacks) and attempting to unlock the door to her freedom.

Enter, the ominous Cassius (Ryan Paevey). Believing he was still “Nathan” who has developed some sort of psychotic mental break, she pleads with him to let her help him. It’s at that moment, Agent Jacks gets an earful. Cassius reveals he is Nathan’s twin, Cassius Faison.

THE BIRTH OF CASSIUS

Josslyn tries to figure out how Liesl would not know she gave birth to twins. Cassius tells her Liesl believed he’d died at birth. It was his father, Cesar, who arranged the entire thing when he was born.

Next, Josslyn wondered how Nathan’s body could be gone from his grave, if he wasn’t still alive. Cassius shared he arranged to have Nathan’s body removed, and then hacked the PCPD database to replace Nathan’s fingerprints with his own. He gloats that no one would suspect him, since he is known as the good-guy cop at the PCPD.

Then, in a real kicker to Josslyn, she leans that Britt is the one who told Cassius she was a WSB agent, and then the lightbulb went off that Britt and Cassius are working alongside Sidwell and Cullum. Insisting he and his sister wanted out from under Sidwell and Cullum, and that he doesn’t want to have to kill Josslyn, Cassius warns her that her best shot at surviving is to do as he tells her and not cause trouble.

NO ONE WOULD SUSPECT

Josslyn says people will come looking her for, but in a smug manner, Cassius says nobody will ever suspect that “Nathan” would have anything to do with her disappearing. As she pleads, he walks out and locks her back in the room and regains his composure before he leaves.

Eden McCoy spoke with Soap Opera Digest about Josslyn’s shocking new predicament and shared, “I  think Josslyn’s whole journey here is walking the line between being really vulnerable and really, really scared in this situation, but not being able to show that because it’s her job not to react that way. She’s trapped, she’s been kidnapped by a stranger and now she has to work overtime not to give in to her instinct to be scared. Instead, she’s got to incorporate her new training (as an agent).”

So, who will find Josslyn? What will happen when she comes face to face with Pascal again? Are they leaving just enough room for Cassius to come out of this without being a total “bad guy,” so when this storyline ends, it keeps Ryan Paevey on the canvas? Weigh-in via the comment section. In case you missed it, watch the moments below where Josslyn learns her captor is Cassius Faison!

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ethan Burns Delilah’s Photo with a Promise in Touching Turn from Nathan Dean

Published

General Hospital fans were reminded on the Wednesday, May 6 episode of the ABC daytime drama, just why Nathan Dean’s Ethan Lovett always had a special place in our hearts. After all, not only was he the son of the iconic Luke Spencer and Holly Sutton, but Ethan was always the guy who was great at running a con, but with a heart of gold. It was on full display in key scenes that locked Ethan back into a major storyline since Dean’s return.

Here’s what went down in the pick-up: Ethan is chatting with Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) after having met baby Phoebe. The couple explain what happened to the woman they found needing medical attention, Delilah. Brook Lynn goes to explain how they tried to track down Phoebe’s family, but it proved fruitless, and now after becoming Phoebe’s foster parents, they have hopes to adopt her.

When Brook Lynn revealed how they found the unconscious Delilah, a devastated Ethan, who is trying not to let on he has any tie to the woman, asks if she had been attacked. Chase said she had no identification in her purse, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that she was hiding something.

WHAT HAPPENED TO DELILAH?

As Ethan subtlety tried to nudge Chase for more intel, he reveals that the PCPD found Delilah’s luggage, and it was full of high-end clothes and a list of art galleries, but her fingerprints did not show up on any database. Chase is convinced that Delilah was covering her tracks.

Poor Ethan is gut-wrenched as he looks at baby Phoebe, after hearing how Delilah’s life ended, and when Brook Lynn and Chase talk about how thrilled that baby Phoebe just dropped into their lives, considering they were considering adoption anyways. Ethan says, while struggling to hold back tears, that it’s very clear how much Brook Lynn and Chase love Phoebe. Later, after Ethan left, Brook Lynn tells Chase she is scared that the state will take Phoebe away from them. Chase assures her that won’t happen.

TEARS AND A VOW

Then, in the heartbreaking conclusion of the episode, an emotional Ethan heads back to the pier. In tears, he pulls a photo of Delilah out of his pocket. He cries that she should have been there for her and he apologizes, crying that his hope was for her to be safe in Port Charles.

Ethan tells Delilah that he’d seen the baby, and she is beautiful. Next, Ethan takes out his lighter, and sets fire to Delilah’s photograph promising her that he’d keep their secret to himself and no one would ever have to know.

So, what do you think the connection is between Ethan and Delilah? Was she working with him on a con? Were they at one time lovers and she had his child? Are they related? What did you think of the performance of Nathan Dean in the emotional scenes? Let us know in the comment section, but first, you can watch it again below and then weigh-in.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ethan is Rocked at News of Delilah; Is Baby Phoebe His Child?

Published

on

By

The return story of Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean began to unpeel itself on all new episodes of General Hospital, when on Tuesday May 5, he is seen on the pier talking on his phone and clearly calling a woman named “Delilah,” and in what seems like concern for her, tells her on voicemail, “you need to show up.”

As viewers know, Delilah (played by Lily Cardone) was the pregnant woman that Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) found on the side of a road and managed to get her to the hospital. Once at GH, Delilah died, but her baby was born. Brook Lynn and Chase then went to efforts to become the little one’s foster parents, since no other family ties for the baby girl have been found.

Their happiness at finally having a child, may be very short-lived. First, Brook Lynn is a key suspect as the other driver that may have caused the accident that burned and put disfiguring lacerations on Jordan’s (Tanisha Harper) face. At that time, Brook Lynn had a bit of wine with Lucy (Lynn Herring), and had rushed out of the Quartermaine mansion to try to get to Gio’s (Giovanni Mazza) performance with Trina (Tabyana Ali) at the reopening of Charlie’s.

Courtesy/ABC

Fast forward to now. Ethan turns up at the Quartermaines and runs into Brook Lynn and Chase along with baby Phoebe. Brook Lynn introduces Ethan to her husband and then they explain they are foster parents to Phoebe.

Brook Lynn then tells Ethan, that sadly, Phoebe’s mother had died, and all they knew about her was her name: Delilah Wilson. As soon as Brook Lynn mentions Delilah’s name, it’s clear Ethan is stunned, although he tries not to let on anything to Brook Lynn and Chase. Previously, Brook Lynn told Chase that it was recommended to her that they try to search on their own for Phoebe’s family. Well, is this her dad starring her in the face?

All this begging the questions: What is Ethan’s relationship to the deceased Delilah? Were they working on some kind of con together? Were they in love? Is Ethan the biological baby-daddy to Phoebe, which would really throw a wrench into Brook Lynn and Chase’s dreams of starting their own family? And, will all of this dovetail into Michael’s plan to get Chase and Willow to hit the sheets? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
