GH’s Avery Pohl on Esme’s Return: “She’s Using Her Time Wisely and Waiting For The Right Moment to Strike”
Next week, Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) is back lurking around Port Charles. When viewers last saw Esme, she went over the parapet at Wyndemere during a showdown with Ava (Maura West).
For months, GH fans have been eagerly awaiting to see just how and when Esme would return to get revenge, or find out what she is after. From the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, it looks like the wait is over.
In dishing with SOD on her on-screen return, Pohl shared that Esme is, “essentially on the run.” However, she adds, “Esme is aware of the circumstances she’s put herself in. She is aware that people are going to to be after her. She’s not dumb.”
Just what’s in store for Nikolas (Marcus Coloma), Ava, Trina (Tabyana Ali), Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) now that Esme is back?
As Esme’s plan begins to reveal itself, Pohl shares: “Before she goes right back into the thick of it, she scopes things out. She’s using her time wisely and waiting for the right moment to strike.”
So, are you glad that finally Avery Pohl is back on GH as Esme? What do you hope happens next? Who do you think is Esme’s biological mother? Do you want her to get her comeuppance from the Cassadine clan and Trina? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
Now that everyone is wise to her, I’m glad Esme is returning. Unfinished business should be fun. I like Nikolas squirming! Plus, she’s such a good actress, it’ll be a pleasure to see what comes next. Anything but this Elizabeth/Reiko tangle. Is poor Elizabeth going back to Shadybrook? They should give her a frequent flyer rate!
Soaphound…Yes, time for the reappearance of Esme. I still don’t think she’s the “hook.” The guy with the knives looks like a good suspect, and he’s for hire…but by whom? That doesn’t mean Esme can’t cause her own special kind of revenge in the meantime. As far as Elizabeth she’s never been one of my favorites. She’s always getting into storylines that I’m not into. I would like her to get back to her art. Not for her with Finn much.
The “guy with the knives” is way too tall to be the “hooker”. Also, he carries a bundle of sharp knives with him everywhere, so why would he need to steal a rusty old hook from the Q boathouse?
I still have the odds of Esme being the hooker at 66.6% and Rory at 33.3%. That still leaves a 1% it could be somebody else, though the entire thing revolves around Trina, so that doesn’t make any other suspects likely. It’s been rumored elsewhere that Trina herself is the next scheduled target, but (much like her “bestie” Joss) might not actually be the one who gets hooked. And because of who DOES get hooked in her place, the end results for Trina will be something she never saw coming… and I don’t mean the hooker’s identity…. though that would also be a shock, depending on which one of the two likely suspects it is.
It strikes me the intended victims (Ava, Joss, Diane) are all hated by Nelle, as well, but not necessarily the ones I’d assume she’d go after first. (Though I do agree the safe money is a Trina connection, with Esme and Rory in the lead.)
I don’t remember a whole lot of hatred between Nelle & Ava. To the contrary I remember them “bonding” over their mutual hatred of Carly for a while. Though I suppose Psycho Nelle might be upset that Ava DOESN’T seem to hate Carly anymore.
Satan…Who would suspect the knife man if he used a rusty old hook? But still his height is a good point. And motive. unless someone else hired him. Ms Wu? But why? Just playing guessing games with myself. However Esme is just too obvious for me. And Rory, I agree there’s more to his story than nice guy. Just don’t see him as the hook attacker either. So the mystery goes on.
We do think along the same lines, Satan. Esme first; Rory second—I’ve said so from the start. —-yet, that’s what TPTB want us to think. So, still up in the air somewhere.
I’ve never seen Esme wear bracelets—-and, she’s not that stupid. I’m getting so frustrated—going back and forth in my head—-
If it is Esme, her next target, as I said, is Trina (for whom I do not much care) and, of course, Joss.
Would it be conceivable for Esme to be the cause of Spencer’s “headaches”? Sure it is—it’s a soap!!
Oh, yeah—before I forget—Sonny is such a fool— is he supposed to be scary? I find him to be silly and on the brink of insanity. Guy needs help and so do the writers when it comes to this passe’ “cosa nostra “ quasi-uomo. So many personalities—- none of which is inspiring.
rose
I think we are in the minority about Liz. I never cared for her goody two shoes thing. For a sweet little thing she never had a problem having men like Jason, Drew, etc in her bed.
Violet…Not always goody two shoes. She keeps secrets. Remember when Jason came back, didn’t remember who he was and she didn’t tell Sam or Monica. Yet Nina is continually getting roasted for something similar. Or how Peter August supposedly got killed and frozen.
Liz probably gets a pass on the “Jake Doe” thing because by the time that story arc was over, Nikolas, Lucky, and even briefly Laura all knew that he was (supposedly) Jason before Spinelli’s “facial deconstruction app” revealed what he looked like before Ava ran over his face.
Irony here is that Ava was both partially responsible for creating the “Drew is Jason” myth by injuring him with her car, and ending it by being involved in Real Jason’s escape from Heiny’s Russian gulag.
Hi Violet… I’m raising my hand, I do not care for Liz, not a fan don’t like her..
She is indeed a good actress, Soaphound. My main conflict with the drawing of this character is that they made her one dimensionally bad. Instead of making her Ryan’s daughter, they should have kept her a realistic mean girl-the quintessential spoiled little rich girl. She could have been an Erica Kane or a Brenda Barrett. Instead, she’s an irredeemable sociopath. Interestingly enough, I thought she has more chemistry with Spencer than Trina does.
Jill
Gosh I hate that little viper, I’ll be so glad to get rid of her by any means, whether she turns out to be the hooker or not, just want her gone and I tend to agree, she really did have more chemestry with Spencer. I have not been able to take to the new Trina, so don’t care for any of the fellows with her, and especially now that she’s treating Curtis like he’s just insinuating himself into her life, it’s easy to see they are setting the stage for the big reveal that he’s her bio dad.
I am over the “Trina” show. Over it. Enough already.
I agree with you, Gloria–this theme has become tedious. If nuTrina had some oomph, I think the storyline could be bearable—but, this girl, lacks spunk and that dynamic personality which is usually so second nature to any performer. She’s not very good, nor is she credible.
Theres a chance she may turn out to be Kevin’s daughter. It would be a big twist and maybe Dr. Collins could redeem his wretched child. Either way, I love the actress!
“Esme” is not completely irredeemable. She’s basically an orphan who has been left practically alone emotionally. Avery Pohl is fairly good at playing sympathetic as well. I hope they dont completely redeem the character. But I also dont want her written out. I’m hoping that later down the line “Esme” will be discovered to be Ava’s biological daughter. That would be quite the hoot and it would force the two of them finally at least get along lol. Their path to mother/daughter bonding would be hilarious to watch. And Avery Pohl Maura West are definitely up for the challenge to act out such a story.
I agree with everything you said, Jill.
NuTrina doesn’t have any chemistry with anyone—- This girl does not stand out. Even her friendship with Joss doesn’t seem authentic.
Similarly, I don’t feel that mother/daughter connection between her and Portia.
Regardless, Esme can be redeemed if, by a miracle, she is not “The Hook”—-
Everything does point to her—-who else would want the bartender dead? Well—-what if the real “Hook” purposely killed this guy to frame Esme since she is the most logical suspect?
I have so many thoughts running through my brain…..
On the other hand, Rory, Ryan and Esme are working together. Rory was planted to make a move on Trina to keep her away from Spencer, so that Esme would have free rein to carry out her father’s “wish”.
Yes, please bring Esme back!!! She’s an awesome actress!!!!!!!
I really agree! Avery Pohl ( Esme) is one of the best younger actresses this show has seen in a long time. What she lacks perhaps in experience she really makes up for in tenacity. She really bites into all of her scenes and she has just the right about of intensity. And I love the way she always smiles and sneers at the camera . She really makes being bad so much to watch!
Oh, Soaphound—as I’ve always maintained; regardless of Esme’s perfidy, Avery is an amazing young actress and beyond. It’s quite regrettable she’s a baddie; and as such, her reckoning needs to be the worst.
She is now a murderess.
And, you’re right again—-I can’t stand Finn and it seems that he makes poor Elizabeth even more neurotic.
Another mismatched couple? Austin and Maxie. No matter the role, Howarth is always stuck in freakish-limbo.
Call me crazy, Soaphound, but I love Esme—LOL—I mean, I love Avery’s acting. Esme is b-b-bad to the bone., But, man…I love watching her—she fascinates me!!
I’m dying to know who her mother is? Is she in PC? Does Esme even know who she is?
I wonder if Ryan is her bio father—I don’t know his history.
She is the spawn of Satan—So, my mind, as usual, is all over the place. Imagine if Esme’s mother is Ava, Nina or Heather???? All three were she-devils, no?
Soaphound, Esme is pregnant!! Are you surprised? Not so much, right? It is the best excuse for her to feel safe as long as Nik believes it.
But, the baby is Rory’s. That’s the surprise!!♀️
Oh Celia, so predictable. Apparently Nikolas has never met a condom he can’t ignore. Such a wimp! And now he’s locked her in the attic? He’s reading JANE EYRE again, eh? Maybe that’s one of those dusty books up there. But, I do LOVE the decor of that room…perfect for Halloween season. Actually it’s more appealing than Noah’s new “hot spot” on YR. On the plus side, Avery P. is tearing it up again with one terrific performance after another. God help that baby if it makes it to term — I keep picturing Mia Farrow’s face in ROSEMARY’S BABY when she first sees the devil’s spawn.
LOL—Nikolas can also walk in Heathcliff’s boots!! He did imprison, Cathy.
Picture Nikolas in a jabot and cravat —oh, and red tights with black knee-high boots.—and, of course, the Cavalier hair style adorned with lovelocks. HOT!! LOL.
I’m sure he must have read “Jane Eyre” and “Wuthering Heights” ( EB) ’til his eyes bled. Nikolas has been looking crazed, as of late….
As far as a “Rosemary’s Baby” event, we need to ask Satan—what say you, Satan??
Oh, gosh, Soaphound—another farce is upon us with the Noah-love-triangle and his new “hot spot”, as you so aptly put it.
And, oh—when did Sally become so honest and saintly? Dio mio—incredibile!!
Ah Celia, as Batman would say regarding Noah’s new club, “HOLY TRAINWRECK!” I’m sorry but the only thing hot about that chrome-plated dive is the owner. And he is verrrryy cute. And I do love the way Allie told Audra off at Crimson Lights…more of a backbone than I imagined. BTW, I must go to the wrong coffee places because nothing fun like that ever happens at MY Starbucks! Sharon should start selling tickets, in between doling out advice and homilies with that Sister Scholastica look on her face. And don’t get me wrong about Nikolas/Marcus. The character may be vexing but I’d still like to have a weekend at Windermere with him and, uh, visit every one of his rooms…if you catch my drift.
You crack me up,Soaphound—I had not heard Sister Scholastica’s name invoked since grammar school Catechism.
Sharon earned her doctorate degree in less than a year–she must be a genius—No College!! The same can be said about Willow’s (GH) nurse’s “medical” degree.
….time for Sharon to open up her own “come in, I can change your life” Psycho(LOL) office. (I do like Sharon—always have–best with Nick ,whose ego is exploding— Sally? Really? )
Aside—I may have misled you about my opinion of Nikolas—Except for his falling into the depths of a fiery hell with Esme, he is the most sensual character on daytime!! Not necessarily in looks because “Chase” ( GH) takes the crown, but the mysterious dark side of him….yum–what can I say. When he and Ava first “explored”….oh, boy–the anticipation reeled me right in—And then, and then, and then?!?!?!…..Sexiness is a gift–you either got or ya don’t—And, it is ageless—I always had a thing for Sean Connery, regardless of his age!!
Please give me more of you hilarious spin of all things soapy and beyond–❤️
Aye Celia, for me Nikolas’ main turn-on is the pretty hair (I may have a mild version of trichophilia) and those full lips with the crooked smile. I saw Marcus years back on an episode of MAJOR CRIMES and found him so striking, I looked up the cast list on IMDB to get his name. I’m glad he’s got a steady gig even though I think the writers are really diminishing his character. But Chase/Josh, oh boy…I even watched his NETFLIX movie with his wife just to ogle him. I’m not usually so “mainstream” with good looks. For me, Jeremy Renner, Luke Kirby, and Mark Wahlberg are sexier than 100 Tom Cruises or Bradley Coopers. Trevor St. John is sexy in that bad boy way, too. And Nurse Willow? I wouldn’t trust her with a Q-tip, much less a syringe!
HaHa—I knew you wouldn’t disappoint, Soaphound—you have a mild case of trichophelia? Hmmm—I’m a full-fledged trichopheliac—-I’m sure you’ve seen the movie version of HAIR, yes? I know the Italians, especially, have a hair fetish —-there are more songs written about a lover’s hair than any other foreign artist. Check out a really “oldie” by someone whose stage name was Little Tony, “Capelli Biondi “ ( capellini literally means “thin hair”) ——derives from the word, capelli which means hair.
Anyway, I digress—I love longer hair on guys—-so much so, I forbade my husband cutting it too short. LOL—Elvis had the best hair of them all!!
I remember Marcus from MAJOR CRIMES—and yes, he does stand out—he is partly Italian, afterall!!
I agree, none of today’s Hollywood’s supposedly sexy men “sextize” me—LOL.
Yeah—at first glance, looks is the main attraction—-but, many a good-looking guy or woman turns out not-so-up to par upstairs!!
I think TPTB have put Nikolas in a different light—he’s perceived as mindless and not at all his own man!! His masculinity id in question. at this point—to have a slip of a girl play with his mind. Not fair. That passionless interlude should not have happened. I guess we needed the drama? Whose baby is it? Who’s the baby daddy?
As far as Sharon, I had hoped, since forever, she and Nick would reunite. They’ve both been acting so weirdly, lately. What have they done to Nick?! He’s always been the one with a steady head on his shoulders, per se.
Funny you should mention Bugs Bunny—“Eh, what’s up doc?”—-I must be the only Mommy who still watches cartoons —LOL.
And, I never liked Sally and I doubt I ever will—-albeit, I absolutely love her wardrobe—-not only do I ‘dig’ her clothes, but also, she wear everything so well!! Great body!!
One more item, Celia..your idea about Sharon hanging out a shingle to advertise her PSYCHOLOGIST FOR HIRE skills reminded me of where I’d seen that very thing done before …. when Bugs Bunny hung out an ESQUIRE sign over his rabbit hole. No insult to Sharon…I always have suscribed to the philosophy of Mr. Bunny. By the way, when Sally inevitably chooses Nick over Adam, I’ll be writing her off as well. Nick should be ashamed of himself.
Avery is amazing in this role and should win an Emmy next year!
I wish she would stay away. It’s ridiculous that she’s gotten away with so much and how stupid everyone is to see what she’s guilty of and don’t do anything to get her arrested. The writers are stupid themselves to write this storyline.
I am glad that Esme is coming back because she needs to pay for what she did. Hopefully, she will. There are a lot of loose ends with her storyline that have to be tied up. Also, I don’t think you are in the minority about Liz. I don’t like the character, I think she’s boring and I am not interested in any storyline with her in it. Also, Liz with Finn is even more boring!!
Yep, I am also not an Elizabeth fan. Nothing against the actress but the character just doesn’t interest me.
OH GEEZ! I was beginning to believe Esme was really gone! The actress is good, but the character wrecks my nerves!
agreed. I could see her as a granddaughter of Dorian Lord’s on a OLTO reboot!
I think the hook killer will be someone totally unexpected and surprising. It’s not Esme.
Retire Monica in a big way as the killer: the dangling sound of jewelry, Jason’s official death being the final straw to her mental health.
Lol. That would be the ultimate death knell for the show. Equivalent to the unabortion and poison pancakes that brought down AMC.
The thought of Leslie Charleson attacking Johnny Wactor would be hilarious.
Kevin
OMG, the poor woman can hardly walk,
let alone have strength to swing that big hook.
Please tell us you are only fooling.
I want Esme to be the hook murderer – it makes the most sense, particularly if she is doing it for daddy dearest. I will be FURIOUS if it is Rory ): Just NO! ):
I thought maybe Esme would be pregnant and they would do a “who’s the daddy?” storyline.
I love Avery but I don’t love Esme and really do not see her as having long-term potential. She needs her comeuppance and for it to be real and not one of those fake comeuppances that daytime does for it’s favorite performers to keep them on the show – often past their expiration dates.
Mostly I am really hoping they have the good sense to make Esme the hook murderer.
Rory is the hook killer and the killings are about Trina not Sonny
MIKE
If that was the case Spencer would have been No.1 and then maybe Ava for being so close to Trina but Brando and Diane, where do they come in?
Yes— the hook killer has to be a person that is disposable
and leaving GH = Rory.. All others are solid GH characters.
I’m looking forward to Esme being back on my screen..
Hello, su—long time no see—yes—Rory is right up there with Esme. As I said a while ago, the actor is leaving the show—so, he will be the scapegoat.
Celia! Hi :)Yes, it’s Rory–
I never see you 🙁
Perhaps you’re posting other soaps- I just watch GH and Y&R
and reply to only the two.
Hope you’re doing well and living happily!! 🙂
You don’t see me, SusieQ? Really? I’m always posting here.
—glad we hooked up (pardon the pu)–thank you, my friend—I am doing very well—wish the same for you.
Rory is the best guess besides Esme. Maybe he wears a wig and make-up?
I think Esme may be telling the truth to Ryan–she’s not the Hook. I’m thinking TPTB could “reform” her —give her a brain tumor, LOL—-and she may stay on.
Imagine if Ava turns out to be her mother–can’t have her own daughter “hook” into her. LOL- hope to talk later and later……
Ciao❤️
Hi Celia—The reason I don’t believe it can be Esme is;
__ Avery Kristen Pohl has signed a 3-year contract with ABC’s General Hospital,..
They wouldn’t destroy her, not now–
I imagine she will be the horribly bad turn into a shiny angel..lol…. All cast members are solid so has to be Rory..
A 3 year contract the soap must have big plans for the character..
She is indeed a great addition to GH..
And—dump Cameron Mathison as Drew IIISSSHHHH..
he simply does not belong/fit-in GH, nope..
Take care, be happy–
Really, su? I wasn’t aware Avery was on contract—happy to hear that. So, my thinking of keeping her wasn’t far-fetched.
Yes, Rory is the outsider, thus, he needs to go.
Mathison? I’m with you.I guess I’m not the only one who just tolerates the guy.
So, let’s see…Carly has had her rounds with the Quartermaine brothers—but she’s not done—it’s Drew’s turn. Stay well, my friend!!
Celia— my way of seeing the left-handed killer is–
Rory or Ryan, the one-armed lefty-
It’s the jingling that’s the puzzler..
hhhmm I still go with Rorey..
Yes, SusieQ—I thought of Ryan, too—but, quickly dismissed the idea. …He’s too tall with a very masculine built–Rory is actually petit–more fitting. The jingling could be bracelets or a chain….
…or, some loose change ( coins) in his pockets.
Hey Celia, this is more about Spencer than Esme. How hot does he look in prison overalls?! The mussed waterfall of hair, the cynical/rebel without a cause attitude, those great grimaces. Wow, he single-handedly makes up for the zero sex appeal of Drew, Austin Garter Belt (?), Cody, Finn, Sonny, and Michael. Heck, Spinelli is cuter than that lineup of dead weight. At least he’s funny. But Spencer/Nicholas Chavez is keeping my, um, living room nice and warm.
Yeah, Soaphound—how is Nicholas ( which is my son’s name–Nico) so beautiful? Let me count the hows and oh-mys!! He’s so young, but so virile and “manly”–imagine him at 30, 40 or 50 —Are we too superficial? Sometimes I wonder if I married my husband for his looks—SSHH!! Just KIDDING!!!!!!!!-LOL…
All the other male cast you mentioned cannot hold a candle to either “Spencer” or “Chase”.
I hope i never have to see Cody with his shirt off again….or watch Carly and Drew make googly eyes at each other like two adolescents. No spark–no passion–no “nothin”—-
The same goes for Sonny and Nina—no sexual “harmony”….
Aside—is Gladys leaving? Bridgeport, of all the beautiful areas/towns in Connecticut!! Bridgeport ( and New Haven) is possibly the ugliest city in the state—and, crime there ( before all the craziness erupted everywhere, was even worse.
Shiloh & Whiny Heiny also had “3 year contracts”. Apparently those contracts always have some fine print where they can be terminated for “story purposes”.
As good as the actress is, the character doesn’t really have any redemption possible if she’s the Hooker, and that seems to be about 99.9% certain after Thursday’s episode. They can’t try the idiotic “brain tumor” or “magic DVD” excuses again to attempt to undo what was clearly seen on screen.
Characters can be “redeemed” early on if they’re popular enough and they haven’t done too much damage. Luke & Sonny being two prime examples of this. But you don’t come back from being a serial killer.
Yeah I know… Frodd and Ben from Days…. but those were both failed experiments in this Devil’s opinion. It just took them years to admit it… and now in both cases, you have the actors pretending to be somebody else like it never happened. Maybe that means Esme will become Cerberus’s new chew toy, and then a few weeks later, there will be a new girl in Port Charles who looks so familiar, but nobody seems to recognize her.
Newer performers have 13-week options written into their contracts, at which point the show can cancel the contract for any reason (most vets have 26-week windows). They haven’t written Esme into a corner yet – but they’re getting close.
Since you mentioned Shiloh, I saw Coby McLaughlin on a plane this past week – quite handsome in person. Didn’t get a chance to talk to him.
Can’t be Rory it’s a girl I’m trying to think it would be after Trina she hasn’t been on the chair that long and I don’t think it’s Esmay
I’ll quit watching if she is on more than a few weeks. Gag, one of the worst storylines in 50 years. So sad!

‘General Hospital’s’ Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna Deliver the ‘Power Performances of the Week’
The on-screen father/son combo of General Hospital’s Dante and Rocco Falconeri as portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were part of high emotional stakes scenes on episodes airing May 11-15.
First, Finn Carr’s Rocco is so guilt-ridden and burdened with the secret that he shot WSB director, Ross Cullum that it’s eating him alive. So much so, that he gets into a heated argument with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Rocco feels so badly that Danny’s father was taken from him for parts unknown by the WSB, all because Jason refused to implicate Rocco as the shooter.
In a heartbreaking scene, Rocco shows up at Britt’s door and lets her know he can’t take it anymore and that the secret he is keeping is tearing him apart. The fear is palpable in Rocco’s eyes. Britt calls Rocco a hero for saving her life and Jason’s and he has to remember that. Britt hugs him and promises that he can come talk to her anytime. In that moment, Rocco felt seen and felt safe.

Courtesy/ABC
ROCCO ON THE EDGE
All of the beats mentioned above were played with depth and acting maturity by Finn Carr; that it is so very clear why the writers and the producers are so comfortable giving him the ball in this umbrella story. He steps up to the plate every time and hits it out of the park.
Rocco also overheard his parents fighting over him after Dante figured out that Rocco was responsible for the shooting, and confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins) for withholding the truth from him. As their argument escalated and their relationship was further threatened by the lies, Rocco listened to the whole thing from the outside porch.
Eventually Dante, who had learned the truth by having Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) help him piece together what happened the night Cullum was shot, has a heart to heart with his son. He asks Rocco to tell him in his own words the events that transpired, and promises Rocco, that even though he is the police commissioner, he is going to help him. Rocco goes step by step over how Cullum was about to strike Jason with a weighted-baton and how the gun was loose on the ground and he shot him. Dante says his actions saved Jason and Britt’s life, and that he is going to help his son from here on out. He just wished everyone had come to him sooner, because as the father it’s his job to protect his son, not the other way around.
DANTE COMES TO TERMS
Still later in the week, Dante is visited by Elizabeth, and they discuss how they are going to cover-up any evidence that Rocco was at the hospital the night of the shooting with a hand injury, and that Dante is going to make sure the evidence against Rocco disappears. Something that is a huge disconnect for anyone that knows what a fine and upstanding cop Dante has been through the years, but he is determined to help his son stay safe and to keep him close.
However, Cullum is on the hunt for said evidence, and thinks Danny may have shot him in the back (or does he … and he knows Rocco shot him?). He visits Dante’s office and wants the evidence in the shooting. Meanwhile, bets are we are a few story beats away from Danny learning Rocco shot Cullum.
Throughout all the material given to Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna they rose to the occasion. Finn, getting the opportunity to play the often uptight Rocco on the edge, and Dominic, showing us how he can make us feel what Dante is feeling just by watching the emotion and hurt in his eyes. Therefore, Michael Fairman TV names Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna our picks for the Power Performances of the Week.
Now below, let us know if you agree with our picks of Finn and Dominic as the standout performances of the week, and if so, what moment really tugged on your heartstrings featuring Rocco and/or Dante via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Reflects on His Time with TV Parents Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson
Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) took some moments to share stories and remembrances of two of the all-time greats of General Hospital, who also happen to have played his television parents, the late Stuart Damon (ex-Alan Quartermaine) and Leslie Charleson (ex-Monica Quartermaine).
The moment came during the release of Sunday’s all-new episode of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve and Bradford Anderson. The episode featured questions from fans of the actors; one of which was for Steve that asked, “What it was like working with Stuart and Leslie as your parents?”
The two-time Daytime Emmy winner, who is currently in the last part of his extended hiatus from the ABC soap, always talks fondly of Stuart and Leslie and often gets choked up doing so. Stuart Damon passed away back in June of 2021, while Leslie Charleson passed away more recently in January of 2025. Burton debut as a young teenaged Jason Quartermaine back in 1991, and as he tells it, without the influence and help of Stuart Damon, his GH career may not be where it is today.

STUART DAMON’S WORK ETHIC
“Stuart was super consistent in how he worked. Super structured. I learned a lot from Stuart about his work ethic, his discipline, showing up, treating people kindly, being grateful,” recalled Burton. “If that’s what you can learn from somebody … that’s amazing. It was just something special about being in the Quartermaines. We had something. It was a special family put together.”
As viewers know, just by watching the death of Monica Quartermaine episodes earlier this year, just how close in real-life Steve was to the late Leslie Charleson. “Leslie was a firecracker. You didn’t know what was going to happen or when it was going to happen,” shared Burton. “I always tell the story about how I would come in chewing gum. I was this little cocky teenager and she’d be like, ‘spit it out now!’ Leslie was such a nurturing person. She loved to help, and had amazing sense of humor. I couldn’t have had two better onscreen parents ever.”
GH did a complete about face with the character of Jason Quartermaine after his motorcycle crash on New Year’s Eve in 1995, and he became Jason Morgan, who is now one of the all-time most beloved characters in the history of the show. But as Burton explains it, it may not have happened if it wasn’t for Stuart Damon.
YOU GOT TO GIVE THIS KID A SHOT
“Stuart was the biggest cheerleader of mine. Not often does this happen where somebody would go up to the fifth floor to whoever’s the executive producer and he says, ‘You gotta give this kid a shot. Give him more, see what he can do.’ That was really nice of him,” acknowledged Steve. “So, if it wasn’t for Stewart … I always speak very highly of him because he was amazing, In real-life, Stuart was just a beautiful soul would give anything to anybody. I always give him credit and Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), because without the two of them there, I wouldn’t be where I am for sure.”
You can check out the entire episode of the latest edition of Steve and Bradford’s podcast below.
Now, let us know, do you think that Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson as Alan and Monica were two of the greatest TV parents in the history of soap operas? What did you think of Steve’s remembrances? Drop your thoughts in the comment section.

RATINGS: ‘The Young and the Restless,’ ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Remain No #1 and # 2, ‘General Hospital’ Only Soap to Lose Viewers
The latest Nielsen ratings data is out for the week of April 27-May 1, and three out of the four network daytime dramas posted gains in total viewers, while one showed a loss in audience numbers, which may come as a surprise.
Let’s take a look at the ratings period with data from Soap Opera Network and then provide some context. The Young and the Restless remained as per usual in the top spot coming in at 3,14,000 on average total viewers slightly up +20,000 more eyeballs for the week.
In story, Y&R served up Matt’s plot to blow up the Newmans inside the abandoned gas station on the outskirts of Vegas, Sienna believing she killed Matt, only for him to be revealed alive with a severe contusion on his head by week’s end, Nick going on a bad drug trip thanks to the fentanyl laced with something else via Matt, and Cane and the Winters family learning that he is a donor match to save Malcolm’s life, while Sally got engaged to Billy.

FASHION HOUSE PROBLEMS
Y&R’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful clocked in with 2,795,000 viewers for the week up +38,000 from the previous ratings period. In story, The Bold and the Beautiful gave viewers; the fallout from Katie’s successful fashion show for her new fashion house, Logan. Dylan continuing to be freaked out. This time when doing her work at Forrester Creations, out from the clothing rack comes somebody that scares her enough to have her let out a blood-curdling scream. In addition, Liam suggested to Hope that she consider coming to work for Logan where she will be appreciated, after Steffy tells her that ‘Hope for the Future’ is back-burnered for now.
General Hospital, which many have considered being the most entertaining on a consistent basis with their storylines, most likely lost some viewers for the week because on Monday April 27, the show was preempted for a special report on the attempted shooting at the White House Correspondence dinner. If viewers did not catch it on Hulu, it aired on the network after Nightline on Tuesday at 1am. In total, GH was the only soap to lose viewers for the ratings week. GH tallied -1,809,000 which is down from the previous week by -168,000.

In story, the soap opera spotlighted: Ashley stealing antibiotics to keep Grayson alive, Smitty zeroing in on a possible suspect in the plasma ring, Vernon taking over Martin’s debt to Joey Armstrong, while Kate recognized a name tied to Lynette’s finances.
It should also be noted for the ratings week; The Bold and the Beautiful once again topped Y&R for the top spot in the key Womens 18-49 demo and in the Womens 25-54 demo, Beyond the Gates once again bested General Hospital for the 3rd spot.
