Mishael Morgan Reveals Why She’s Taken ‘A Bit of a Step Back’ From Y&R and Gone on Recurring Status
This past June, we all celebrated the groundbreaking victory of The Young and the Restless‘ Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) as the first Black actress to ever win in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category during the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
In the months that followed, Mishael has not been seen as much on the top-rated CBS daytime drama, plus when fans noticed she was no longer in the opening main credits, it got them wondering just what is Morgan’s status with the show.
Finally today, via video on her Instagram story, Mishael shared some news after finishing her day of taping in Genoa City.
The Emmy-winner revealed she has indeed gone on recurring status with the show: “I just wrapped my last scenes back at Y&R, and I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag a little bit. A lot of people have noticed that my name is not on the main credits anymore, and I wanted everybody to know that it was my decision. I decided, actually, back in December, that I wanted to take a bit of a step back from the show. I just felt like at this point in my life and this point in my career, I wanted to mix things up a little bit. But Y&R will always be home. I have so appreciated this safe place to land that they have given me, so I know that I can be back. They are like family to me, and coming back just reminds me of that.”
Morgan also thanked the loyal viewers and her followers expressing, “I’m so appreciative of you guys, and all the fans who have supported me along this Y&R journey. But I’m still on it, I’m still going to be recurring, so you’ll still catch me in Genoa City.”
The talented star ended with a tease of projects and roles to come, telling her fans to, “Keep looking out for new things.”
So will you miss not seeing Mishael as much on Y&R? Are you exciting to see what roles and projects she gets involved with next? Are you glad she is still recurring with the show and will continue to make appearances in stories? Comment below.
Not good news. I think I know where they are going with this. Devon and Elena. Recurring is Jill and Lauren and how often do you see them?
Lee S…Devin and Elena a possibility. Nate and any woman who bats their eyes at him and agrees with his vision. One in particular…Amanda’s lawyer sister who has left the responsibility of their mother with Amanda. I don’t like how writers have changed Nate from a caring person to an ego driven “businessman.”
In total agreement! I can’t wait until he gets screwed over by Victor and Victoria! Will be well deserved!
They’ve sent Imani away to be with their mother, so looks like that whole sorry storyline is caput. Good riddance. The only worthwhile character was Amanda. She was splended and will be missed. Audra appears to be the new flirt in Nate’s life. Possibly she is there because Jill had suspicions about Nate OR, she’s going to backstab Jill and try to take over the company.
While I wish Ms. Morgan the best and respect her decisions, the writers have a challenge. Amanda was forefront with a major story that added characters and connections. Now what? The family she longed for is gone save for a half sister. Amanda did not get a compelling story but Ms. Morgan made the most of it. Maybe after a break, the writers can give Amanda a bit of the verve her twin had. Y&R could use that spark.
Yes, this is true. I feel the same way too
Josh Griffith really wasted her the second time around
She was soooooo good as Hilary
How the ptb signed off on Amanda is almost as head scratching as how Griffith is still allowed to head write this show!
She deserved sooo much more screentime than say the previous Abby hour or Sally Spectra who’s been on every damn day!
Devon and Elena will make more sense. But I really hope Leigh Ann Rose as Imani quickly comes back and they ptb learn their lesson from Mishael and write for Imani. I want to see a proper old fashioned juicy soap triangle before Elena goes back to Devon after Nate cheats!
Josh Griffith does not like talent he ran off Gina T and now Morgan. Not sure why CBS does NOT can him, he is horrible!
Gina was not one of his pets he is like a lot of head writers they write only for their pets that’s obviously what happened here and it doesn’t matter if you are popular have a fan base as they call it get a Emmy whatever that’s how they work. Frustrating I know.
First of all we don’t ALL love her Emmy win. She absolutely did not deserve to win or to even be nominated – it was the worst Emmy win ever and it robbed Cynthia Watros of HER Emmy. Agree or disagree, I find Amanda Sinclair to be a total snoozefest of a character. I didn’t like her storyline at all in 2021 but she was able to put together a few scenes and win the Emmy with them. Most regrettable! I am glad Amanda isn’t on very much, she is an incredibly dull character. Snark away, I don’t care, she was much better in her previous Y&R role.
She deserved to win the 1st time but not nomiated, she’s a great actress
not sure what’s wrong with you, don’t watch Y&R stay with GH I do agree that Cynthia Watros could have won as well, she’s a great actress.
The lack of character development is due to the writers. She worked with what they gave her, which wasn’t much.
She did a great job with the crappy script.
You need to MOVE ON from the Emmys. She won GET OVER IT
In other words, she won an Emmy and wants to parlay that momentum into getting “bigger and better” roles. Heard it a thousand times and there’s no shame in it. But I truly respect the veteran actors who are playing the same role for years and not always looking for greener grass. As someone who has survived several layoffs over the decades, I think I’d be grateful for a steady gig and a regular paycheck. But that’s just me.
So you think she should just accept the terrible script and waste her clearly superior acting skills? Kudos to her for taking a risk
Amanda was Good I liked her I don’t care for her sister!! She’s the one who pushed Nate to do what he’s doing now!I pray Amanda comes back soon she keeps Her sister in line . Just because Nate and Elena are on a break doesn’t give them the opportunity too CHEAT in my EYES That would say they were never truly committed! Good luck Amanda hurry back so you and Devon can have a Baby if your own

I know Devon and Elena are together in real life but the two are such sad sacks, it won’t be hard consoling each other.Hope they are happier than they appear.
You said it, Violet. But I think Devon is generally a downer. Too Zen and relaxed for me, which translates to sleep inducing. Ms. Sarpy is such a good actress that I actually feel bad for Elena…all these self-centered guys trying to constantly prove something. She needs a totally new guy. Okay Violet, bear with me here: how about Elena and…ADAM. How’s that for thinking out of the box? The more I think about it, the more I like it. But maybe I shouldn’t say it aloud or Nick will suddenly be pointing his, um, attentions toward Elena. He really has no morality when it comes to his lust life. I’ve given up on Sharon and Adam reuniting, though they have great chemistry.
Yes I will miss her.Im glad that she come back some times. Good luck on your next job.Be looking out for it
I miss Mischael Morgan on the Young and Restless. She just won an Daytime Emmy. Her role should have been created for more scenes. I been watching this show every since it debuted 50 years ago

Chris McKenna Speaks Out On His Final Day as ‘General Hospital’s’ Jack Brennan with Words of Wisdom to ‘Finish Strong’

When Jack Brennan was found dead and floating in the Metro Court pool on the September 1 episode of General Hospital, it unfortunately meant the end of the road for Chris L. McKenna, who had returned to the soaps to play the WSB Port Charles Bureau Chief.
As with any death on the soaps, and a litany of subjects in this whodunit, Brennan’s death opened the door to more story, as fans are still grappling with the decision to kill off the character.
The bittersweet exit was not the first time Chris had been written out of a soap. On The Young and the Restless, Chris played detective Mark Harding from 2014-2015, who ended up dead, and guess who was in that scene? None other than GH’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) when he was over at the CBS soap opera taking on the role of Dylan McAvoy.
Now. on an all-new episode of the That’s Awesome podcast with Burton and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GH) released on Friday, September 18, the duo welcomed Chris McKenna direct from Clearwater, Florida.

MAKING SURE PAIGE HERSCHELL WAS OK
During the conversation, Chris explained how his last day went and how he went about lifting the spirits of the GH cast and crew with very special attention to Paige Herschell (ex-Jacinda Bracken).
McKenna shared how he knew for a bit about his departure, before the rest of the cast knew he was exiting the show, explaining. “I had time to process it. It had been a surprise to many, to me, and to many people in the building when it first happened. But by this point, Paige Herschell found out at the same time that she wasn’t going to be coming back. She had her last day, the day before mine.”
“Paige hadn’t been through this before. I had,” shared the soap vet. “I had a show that was on the air and it was in primetime, and then it got canceled. I thought it was devastating, and that I was never going to work again. So, this has happened so many times to me (throughout my career), that I don’t get rattled anymore by it.”

WHEN YOU GET BAD NEWS …
McKenna said he wanted to go out on a high note: “It was important to me to make sure, first of all, everybody else felt comfortable because everybody felt bad and felt sad and felt upset. I was like, ‘It’s fine. We’re okay. I’m going to be fine. So, let’s make sure everyone’s okay.'”
Out of concern for his exiting co-star, Chris recalled, “I wanted to make sure that Paige got her flowers, and she had her attention and got her send off appropriately. I wanted to make sure I hugged her and told her to finish strong. It it was important to me, and also I was working with the kids (Scarlett, Danny). I try to be a mentor to some of the younger actors as well.”
LEAVING PORT CHARLES
The message Chris wanted to impart before he left the GH studios for the last time was, “I’ve been doing this so long, so I wanted to show them how to handle it. When you get bad news, it doesn’t have to devastate you, and it’s not the end of the world, and to make sure everybody’s laughing and having fun. I tried to make the the last day fun for everybody else, so that everybody could enjoy it with me.”

‘General Hospital’ Casts Australian-Born Wil Traval as the Mysterious Jude

General Hospital is welcoming yet another new face to the canvas when Australia native Wil Traval join the cast as a mysterious stranger named Jude, who will arrive in Port Charles come October.
Traval becomes the second new Australian-born actor to join the cast. It was back on July 13, that GH viewers first saw Dean Geyer in the role of Dr. Tristan Roberts, whose name is an homage to the late Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio, GH). Could Jude and Tristan be related?
If not that theory, might Jude join the mystery involving JJE (Jasper Jacks Enterprises), which is currently under the investigation by the WSB? Since Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) father, Jasper Jacks, is from down under, could Jude be connected business-wise or otherwise, to the mysterious Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) who came to Port Charles with several agendas?

FROM DOWN UNDER TO PORT CHARLES
Traval is a native of Victoria, Australia, who had a recurring role in Season 3 of The CW’s Dynasty. In the primetime soap reboot, Traval played Father Caleb Collins, whose faith was put to the test when he developed feeling for Cristal Carrington (Daniella Alonso).
The GH newcomer is no newcomer to TV and film roles with an extensive credits including: Netflix’s Messiah and Jessica Jones, ABC’s Red Widow and Grey’s Anatomy, Arrow, Chicago P.D., Grimm and Once Upon a Time, to name but a few.
In his homeland of Australia, Traval is best known for portraying Dr. Jack Quade in the medical drama All Saints, and Detective Peter Church in the crime drama White Collar Blue.
So far in the last couple of months, General Hospital had brought on the following casting additions, the aforementioned Geyer and Appel, plus Kayden Brenna Tokarski (Scout Cain), Kelly Kruger (Serena Baldwin), Alimi Ballard (William Baines), Kearran Giovanni (Dr. Nichols) and Blythe Howard, who will debut next week on the Wednesday, September 23 episode as Monet.
So, with all the newbies hitting the screens on GH, is hard for you to keep up, or are you excited to see how Jude fits into the storyline with the arrival of Wil Traval this fall? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section.
