GH's Emme Rylan Chats On The Cassadine Island Adventure, Helena's Envelope & Lante Baby Talk!

On General Hospital, Lulu (Emme Rylan) wants to have another baby to add to her family with Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and their son, Rocco. It has not been an easy path for Lulu in the pregnancy department in the past, instead it has been heartbreaking. But will there be another Lante baby on the way … or, is there a mysterious Cassadine baby out there whose bio-momma is actually Lulu? That is the question on many GH fans minds.
During GHFCW, Emme Rylan chatted with On-Air On-Soaps Michael Fairman in one of our most hilarious and entertaining interviews with the talented actress to date! Starting with the recent Cassadine Island adventure which featured: the introduction of Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Lulu toting a gun, and more clues as to the mysterious address on Helena’s empty envelope given to Lulu at her will reading. There were plenty of inside tidbits provided by Emme that had our curiosity piqued, and also has us in stitches!
Here’s what Emme shared about the sometime absurdity of soap, making it real, and working with some of the biggest talents in daytime including; her on-screen mom, Genie Francis (Laura). Plus, she reveals just what did she think of the ‘Nik switch’ when Nick Stabile temporarily stepped in for her on-screen brother, Tyler Christopher! Find out all this and more from the gospel according to Emme below!
There was nothing funnier to me than when you as Lulu had to keep repeating the directions to the escape route off of Cassadine Island! I kept thinking of you having to repeat those over, and over, and over! (Laughs)

EMME: Yes! Yes! And then when I went downstairs and I said it again, when we shot that it was different than what I had repeated before. The producers go “You have to say, ‘I have to make a left.”’ I go, “Uh-uh guys! I have to make a right!” They were like, “Oh! You’re right!” It was so awful, but so fun I kept saying: “Through the room, down the stairs, pass the wine cellar…” Oh my God! I still know it. And then Dante made Lulu say it again one more time! (Laughs). I actually enjoyed those days of work during the entire Cassadine Island trip.
Didn’t you guys laugh?

Courtesy/ABC
EMME: We were dying the whole time! (Laughs) Then when I came into the room with the gun (laughs) when we were blocking it, Dominic, as Dante goes, “Babe” and I go, “Shut up, Babe! I got this!” (Laughs) The cast was laughing at me the entire time! But it was actually a fun week of shooting for many reasons. You could pair us all up in different groups and we would all have an amazing time. And every single set up would be a different experience, because of everybody’s personalities. I have to say that group was really awesome! There was Maura West (Ava), Kelly Monaco (Sam) and Genie Francis, and our new Valentin!
What did you think of James Patrick Stuart’s introduction on to the canvas during that arc as Valentin Cassadine?

Courtesy/ABC
EMME: He was kicking ass! We were all on the set going, “Guys, there is an ACTOR here today!” First of all, James had a lot of dialog, and it was more of a theatrical type role. It really got everybody in a 100% on mode. So yes, we were laughing during blocking, however when we went to tape, it was on! We were all like, “All right! Here we go! We’re on an island and we are going to live on this island!” (Laughs) Everyone really embraced it. At one point, Dominic is supposed to jump through the air, through the grass, to tackle Kelly Monaco as Sam! So he has to jump, and he goes running after Sam, and he is supposed to tackle this tiny little woman, right? But when he did it, he nailed it! We were taping and he flew! I am a big fan of absurd circumstances and so I was eating it up! And then there was this skeleton in this cave!
Speaking of the skeleton, Lulu was originally thinking that it could have belonged to her dad, Luke! But she also knew Helena loves a good mind-bender!
EMME: Lulu was aware that it could be half and half. It is always seemingly Helena pulling the strings, but one has heard from Luke in a really longtime. At the time, it definitively scared Lulu that it could be her dad.
So on top of all those “Lulucapades”, as all the characters who were hostages were trying to get off the island, they had you say “13 Amiklon Lane!” (Laughs). This is when you discovered Daphne and her address. Lulu was shaken because Helena had bequeathed her an empty envelope that had “13 Amiklon, Cassadine Island”, as the return address!

Courtesy/ABC
EMME: Can you imagine? I go, “Can we just discuss this first? How am I supposed to pronounce this? I just want the audience to know that I hate the word “Amiklon” (Laughs). It sounds ridiculous coming out of my mouth: “13 Amiklon Lane, Cassadine Island!”
There has been a lot of “baby talk” of late for Lulu! Looks like Lulu is planning to move forward with In Vitro Fertilization for a Lante baby. However, there was a key message to Lulu during the video reading of Helena’s will, when the evil Cassadine said to her when willing her the empty envelope: “It is to you that I owe the greatest and most sincere debt. Lulu has done the most for me, more than she’ll ever know. You may not appreciate this right away, and I understand you may not want to explore this. You can always ignore what this means, but I believe that you would regret that, because there may come a time when your life is empty, and this will give you what you need.”
EMME: OK, here are my thoughts: Lulu wants to have another baby, but they hinted that out there could be another baby. Lulu does not know. It is not in her mind anywhere that there could be another baby out there. Helena may have done something, and it would have been Lulu’s eggs that they would have harvested.

Courtesy/ABC
So, would Stavros (Robert Kelker-Kelly) be the likely baby daddy of this never-before-seen spawn?
EMME: If that were the case, I would assume it would be Stavros who they would have used as the father of the child. But, I don’t know! But Lulu is not thinking that at all! I am thinking that, and I think the audience is thinking that, because it seems it may be steering in that direction, but there has been nothing that has been hinted at to Lulu that there is something about a child that is out there. But how fun would it be to have a Cassadine child? I mean, we need one! We are killing off all the Cassadines! I need a Cassadine baby! (Laughs) But in Lulu’s mind she might know something is up, but she doesn’t know what it is.
How do you think Nick Stabile fared during his run temporarily replacing Tyler Christopher as your on-screen brother Nikolas?

Courtesy/ABC
EMME: I thought Nick did a fantastic job, but I love Tyler. It’s so funny, being a recast myself I come in to work, and I have been around a million recasts in the past. Each time I have always been super welcoming, and always want to make people feel extra comfortable, because they are in a difficult position. But I walked on set, and had not met Nick yet. I have to say, I didn’t want to give him a chance. It has nothing to do with him, but I was upset about Tyler. I was missing Tyler. And Tyler and I from day one, from when Lulu had amnesia, it always felt safe to me. There is a special relationship between Lulu and Nikolas. All these other characters can come in to the story – but there is something different and special there, that I really, really love. So, I was super bummed to work with anyone else. I came in and, of course, I was nice to Nick Stabile, and then he did an amazing job. So then I went, “Fine! You’re doing an amazing job!” Nick was able to in such a short amount of time pick up on those important relationships. For example, when we hugged when Lulu found out Nik wasn’t dead; he was so present and there. He was great and he did an excellent job. We love and miss Tyler without question. But if I had to leave for a bit, I would want someone to come in here and kickass like he did. Nick Stabile really kept the character of Nikolas going in Tyler’s absence, which was great.
What about Genie Francis’ emotional performance ripping into Valentin following Nikolas being shot and falling to his death on Cassadine Island? She blew that material out of the water!

Courtesy/ABC
EMME: She was awesome! I got chills just talking about this. It’s so funny, because actors can be so crazy. I kept telling Genie the whole week that she was kicking-ass! She would go, “No, no. I’m tired.” And I get that she said that, because as actors we never know how, or what we are doing is translating on the screen at any given point. We were walking down the stairs after the island scenes were over, and I tell Genie, “You were awesome!” She went, “Really?” I’m like, “Genie! You have no idea!” Genie was on in those scenes and really good. It was amazing, and like I was saying before, there was something that happened during those island scenes. Everyone was really on and really living that imaginary circumstance, and it was fun. I loved it.
So, what did you think of Emme’s comment during Lulu’s adventures on Cassadine Island? Do you think there is a Cassadine/Spencer baby out there? Will Lulu get pregnant through In Vitro? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
Sam is carrying Lulu and Dante’s child and its not Sam’s and Jason’s…or Lulu does have a child out there with Stravos who will be adopted by Nina who is in everybodys story anyway!!!…but Nelle is Nina’s daughter so she gets a child anyway-you see Nina was in the kidney transplant story and she is unaware it brought her long thought dead daughter Nelle to PC…give me tissues its a weeper-of-a-reunion-NOT-LOL
Big build up with the arrival of the evil Valentin that quickly crumbled and the promising Cassidine Island adventure felt like half was cut…Nik ‘dieing’ twice-was redundant…how many falls does this guy take.without injury..is he made of rubber????…why is ever doctor at GH specialize in eveyrthing=GOD if only my PCP specialized in every area of medicine…why are patients rushed to the tenth floor and not the emergency room…why is the police station so freely open to the public…cops desks are usually behind a glass window and no one can so easily walk in a room holding a criminal suspect…usually when a crime is committed or a suspect is arrested the chief of police or whatever Jordon is isnt always at the scene!!!…and the chief of staff doesnt go to patients room to treat patients…that never happened to me and ive been hospitalized many times…ok!…OK!…i know its a SOAP-lol
Yeah, it seems that way, Jimmy. But, I can’t believe this is it for Valentin? Sure, he’s being carted off to Greece….but, he’ll make his escape somehow!! We have not seen the last of him….
Maybe Valentin has Nik in those catacombs, ( the indestructible Prince)…..Enter Scorpio and Luke to save the day.
I hope Sonny doesn’t steal their thunder. It just wouldn’t be right for Sonny not to emerge the savior, now….would it!!!??? Ha!!
Sonnyville…our once great city of PC…what have they done to it-lol
Somehow I think Valentin and Julian will end up working together?
@Timmm.
Hmmm….that’s food for thought, Timmmy. Both Julian and Valentin will evade the long arm of the law and unite, to create pandemonium!! Sounds plausible.
Yeah….. It is a soap, but yes, the PCPD is a joke! Love how just anyone can go into the interrogation room and talk to a prisoner. Love how the Commish is always available with her smirky bad attitude ( Where is our Anna?!) . Love how a known criminal Sonny Corinthis gets inside information on cases. Soooo stupid.
Commish…more like Clownish
Yes, “where is our Anna”? SHE”S our Commish!
Yeah, yeah. I couldn’t pin a name on the ‘Commish’, Ces. LOL.
She’s always acts like she had a bad night’s sleep. Cranky? And, her superior attitude bugs the ‘bejesus’ out of me.
I repeat…sprinkle a little reality-cheese on my pasta!!
Ces…oh, I TOTALLY AGREE with what you’re saying here. STUPID PERIOD!!!!! But, it could be worse. I mean…that LOWLIFE Sonny could be a so-called C-O-P…BEYOND BLECH!!!!!
Have a good one, Ces.
Oh, Ces, how right you are! I often wonder how real police feel about the way they’re portrayed on soaps. Especially since cops on nighttime shows are always SO brilliant.
Good one, Jimmy. Clownish!!
Lmao …. These comments were all so funny!!!
Damn, Jordan never even has a glow with Andre @ sex! What is her problem? She’s slso a damn traitor!! First turning her back on the one in jail ( cant think of his name – Sean Blakemore???) then she practically calls Andre a potential Serial Killer today. She is selfish and bitchy; nothing like our Anna or Mac!! Chill woman. …..
Hilarious! And spot on accurate!
🙂
I’d actually like to see Mac back as the “commish.” They should double up and have Anna AND Mac.
Cassadine Island under J&S was the lamest, dullest, boringest, lackluster of all times!
for godsake! it was Cassadine Island !!!
The worsted, feared, Cassidine of all time was there! And BLAH, nothing to even make mention of..
It was a total flop ..
Shamefully empty of intruge, on the edge suspense and not even a shocker for Cassadine Island !!
IF. RC, Guza, or even Pratt had taken us to Cassadine Island where the feared Valentine was lurking, we would have been on the edge of our seats!!
J&S are destroying GH .. GH is now empty of all that made it great = adventure and suspense. High drama..
Agreed
Yes. Agreed. Was hoping for a crazy suspenful episode. How much did Helena once fear him! And we got… Hero Jason. Ugh.
I agree. It was boring. The show has been lackluster for a while now. I only enjoy the show when the veterans on-air (Laura, Kevin, love Scottie and Lucy, etc.). I love the comedic banter from Tracy, Lucy, and Scottie.
me too dmr — show is good when the Vets are on. The rest is ffwd material, especially the likes of Sabrina, Kiki, Morgan and Co.
AND, no camp!
I like Emme a lot….and, I like Lulu most of the time.
I absolutely did not like her forgiving Dante. There are many women who forgive their mate; even in reality. I wish I were that noble. But, for me? It would be the end of the road for my husband. No gray matter. It’s black or ehite. Period!!!!
Once the trust is broken; it is gone forever. I think the hardest thing to do would be to regain it.
The elephant in the room would be a constant reminder. Not a healthy way to co-exist.
I do appreciate her interview. Her frankness and feelings for Tyler and cast-mates gave us a chance to glean certain nuances about her personality. Thanks, Mr. F.
I would love for Emme to continue on this happy journey with her husband; but, this new baby ‘quest’ gives me pause. I have reservations……will the baby be conceived the ‘normal’ way or in a petrie dish?
Gee….I can’t help but think of Nina’s ; Britt’s ; a Cassadine’s or Liesl’s rapacious hand having a foot in the door, when the blessed event happens.
Agreed Celia! They turned Lulu into the bad person apologizing to Dante. For what??? It reminds me of people like Hilary & Jackie O that are so praised upon for “standing by there men,” for me, I’d have more respect for these women if they left their cheating husbands! Off my soap box. Lol!! Glad they got a new bed & house…. That should fix everything! Lol!! Enough with baby stories.
Emme seems like a nice girl, I just don’t care for Lulu the way they write her.
Yup! Lulu has been turned into Dante’s lap-dog. I hope they show their new house soon. That’s more interesting to me. You know, the decor? The house itself? Is it a colonial, a victorian, a cape? What will be the color scheme? The accents…throw pillows etc. LOL.
Seriously, Ces, I don’t like the idea of women taking a step back one bit. Progress? We’ve come a long way, baby?
I am sure you have noted how de-feminized some of these characters are represented. I will name two, other than Lulu: Alexis and Valerie. There are so many more.
As far as Hillary Clinton and Jackie O,……well, sometimes power and fame means more to some women than integrity; which leaves a lot to be desired with Mrs. Clinton. I fear the future of my children.
As I am continuously wont to say, soaps reflect reality….regardless of how many off-the-wall storylines we get. Sometimes the writers should remember that!!
When will we see this house? Who’s old set is it? And why did they make such a big deal that Sonny pulled the strings; to create conflict with Dante? I’d be like “cool, thanks!”
Remember when Alexis was tough and not a sniveling mess? Me too. Yeah, GH has definitely been dumbing down their women lately.
Oy….. Hillary, Jackie O — not to get too political, but choosing wealth & power over your dignity is never a good sign for women who use the First Lady/President as someone to look up to. Of course, the other choice sucks so … lesser of two evils 😉
Daytime likes to tell real stories only when it suits them. When it doesn’t and they say “it’s only a soap” they do a disservice to the fans out there.
YUP; and we are expected to believe that Lulu would be in the same vicinity with Dante and Valerie (like in the scenes at the Floating Rib, during Valerie’s graduation). Like that would ever happen? It’s just DUMB!
Yeah, dmr; right? I was waiting for a cat-fight to erupt…..that would have been more realistic. Sooo civilized!! Sure.
Good point and when they were at the same bar there was a chance for MAJOR dialogue but the writers were too lazy!
Life is full of second chances. We here all the time about people cleaning up their acts and putting down the bottle or cleaning up their drug issues. Great, no ONE person is perfect. BUT, [you knew there was a but] when your significant other cheats on you, its OVER! There are so many emotions that goes through someone when the one you love cheats on you. NOTHING a cheater says can EVER be thought of as the truth!
Yes, My Timmmy. Absolutely…..as I said, I could never trust my husband again if he cheated. I think this is something personal….everyone is different. Perhaps I am too naive; My husband has been the only one…..I have known him all my life.
It’s one thing to forgive; it’s another to forget. The weight of such hurt on my small body would bury me. LOL.
Obviously, the PTB wanted Lulu and Dante to stay together. Therefore, they ‘made up’ and fshe forgave him. But to have the ‘other’ woman as part of my own family and breathe the same air would be too much for me to bear.
And, as dmr and Ces both concede, in truth, women either end up apologizing???? Or, forge on for the sake of what?
We grudgingly accept what GH puts out, but, I wish that just once I could feel satisfaction when it comes to a woman’s persona. Women on soaps are either manipulative, bad-arsed mamas, or just plain stupid. Just my opinion, herr. Luv-ya, Timmmy.
I agree Timmm! that is one thing I could not get past no matter how much time has passed, how many apologies, counseling, ect … I never want to “wonder” if they do it again and I don’t want thoughts of where “IT” was!!
sorry, a new bed just won’t cut it Dante!
Well, we all know by now that not all of us see things the same way so I’m going to agree on certain points and then disagree.
First. Great interview! It seemed very honest…and so funny that even Emme and you (Michael Fairman) realized how (unintentionally) hilarious those thesis-long directions were that Lulu had to keep repeating. It was hysterical and nonsensical at the same time. Nice inside peek into the fun they had while filming. I DO agree that the island could have been more exciting, especially for those of us who remember how much they used to be. But then again, there would be those fans dissecting how ridiculous and over-the-top it was…can’t win.
As for Lulu and Dante’s marriage, I’m glad they stayed together and I think she made the right choice. I don’t think anything in life is cut and dry.
I agree about no cheating. Personally, I’ve never cheated on anyone and as far as I know I’ve never been cheated on. If I was and knew about it…I’d break up IF…the guy was a non-trustworthy bastard who had a history that I found out about and did so for no other reason than lust, boredom, variety, inability to be faithful, he was a womanizer….
I would stay, as Lulu did if this thing was out-of-character, out of the blue, due to a horrible series of misunderstandings, miscommunications, hurt…all culminating in a horrible mistake. It’s difficult to find real love. We can find many people we’re physically attracted to…we can find people we like, but to truly connect with another human being on every level…to form a bond of friendship, family, physical, emotional, intellectual attraction is too unique to throw out.
Dante has been in love with Lulu from the beginning. He’s been nothing but honest, supportive, protective. He stood by her through her abduction, her amnesia, her originally thought inability to have children. He’s adored her and she him. He didn’t step out on her because he’s a cheating guy…he reached out and bonded with Valerie after he thought she was cheating on him. The writers showed how he tried to talk to Lulu first. They showed how he caught her in lies, how he gave her opportunities to tell the truth, but she p didn’t. He stood by her when she flirted with and decided to go into business with Johnny Z…after Johnny flirted with her in front of Dante and taunted him about her. She ignored Dante’s request that she not go into business with Johnny and did so in spite of knowing how it hurt and concerned him. She then did the same with Dillon. She confided in Dillon, took him with her to find Lucky, shared a room with him…Dante found out, his mind went to a dark place and he was devastated..thinking SHE was sleeping with Dillon. Who wouldn’t think that? How many would be okay with their wife or husband doing everything Lulu did…
You could say you wouldn’t have sex with someone else. That’s you. Dante had had it…he was hurt, he thought his marriage was over…
There are many instances in life ( and fiction) where misunderstandings lead to a whole gamut of hurt…
Dante’s a good man. He and Lulu are solid. They love each other and after so much hurt on both sides they came out stronger realizing what they could lose. They were tested. Lulu let her heart win over her pride. It takes a strong person to think about the whole picture and not just react. Lulu took the time to do that and her love led her back. I say wise decision.
Hi, Rebecca.
Yes, you make perfect sense to many, I’m sure.
However, I speak from a personal point of view, depending on the individual.
So, Dante thought that Lulu was playing footsies with Dillon; he thought she lied….keeping things from him….whatever. Okay, granted. Lulu was not forthright…it was her husband; therefore, she should have confided in him. I get it…
I have more friends than I could count (cause I’m so sweet, LOL), including my siblings….but, my husband is my best friend. We tell each other everything; ‘our stuff’. So, I can understand how disillusioned Dante felt.
I don’t know, Rebecca, if this is a man-thing. But, I would be so hurt, the last thing on my mind would be to go and have sex with someone just because my mate cheated on me. It’s a matter of self-respect for me. Both my body and my psyche. But, that’s just me. Later.
Sorry: Rebecca for ‘annoying’ you, LOL….To add to my above comment to you; ……and, please, I say this with all sincerity. It is an individual ‘thing’. Lulu taking Dante back goes against every fiber of my being….but, I suppose, it serves TPTB well. I wish Lulu were given a sturdier backbone.
It shocks me to think that there is no wall, by the name of Valerie; or infidelity; standing between them and not discuss it. I think it’s a lot harder keeping it all in.
The writers made it, as many posters have, so that it was Lulu’s fault. She did not do the cheating. “You can lead a horse to water; but, you can’t make him drink”. Was Dante trying to prove his masculinity?….that he still had it? Even if he believed his wife cheated, did his marriage and her mean so little to him?
I remember when all this went down asking my husband. Contrary to popular, passé belief that a man proves his manhood by either his prowess in bed, or how many women he’s ‘conquered’ and still does, does not a man make.
My husband said that a man proves his manhood by not falling into his weakness. It takes what constitutes a man not to stumble and fall.
So, Dante is the weak one here. And, as I said, Lulu has become his lap-dog…..why? Because by forgiving him and assuming responsibility makes her an emotional prey. I hope I make some sense? LOL.
This is out of context, everyone. So, I apologize. I could not resist…..Nelle is not a good girl…oh, no, no!!!! She has an agenda. She put the earrings in the sitter’s purse. Why? She wants her job. Why? Who knows.
Does Jax fit into this? She’s working for someone. Our Nelle is just too sweet.
Or….Nelle is in the baby selling, black-market business, herself. Avery? Watch out Ava, Sonny and Carly. Please not another baby drama!!!!
I agree; the nanny taking the earrings was too obvious…like we’re supposed to think that she did, as Carly had. (The other alternative could be she really did take them and it was the quickest way the writers could think of to put Nell in the Coeinthos fold…). If there is something up with Nell than it’s debatable whether she’s on for the long run or just to play a psycho chick arc…
I only read the recaps from yesterday; but I thought that Nelle had put the earrings in the bag, too. She’s not as sweet and wholesome as she seems..
I hear you CeeCee. And I agree with you about not being able to trust, the hurt, etc. I just don’t see this couple and their situation in the same way. And yes, there was an attraction it seems…not just physical but Dante is a compassionate guy. Valerie was distraught, they bonded over being brought up by single mothers and I think he felt empathy for her when her mom died and they formed a friendship. The fact that she’s beautiful I’m sure would be a challenge for any guy. But he did resist until I guess the friendship, attraction and his own sense of betrayal, hurt and devastation led him to her, believing all the while that he WASN’T cheating because he thought Lulu had left him and was off sharing a bed with Dillon in Europe.
Lol. I don’t think Dante and Lulu or the writers put as much thought into it as you and I! Let’s just hope we’re never in that position…no pun intended!
CeeCee…you’re not “annoying” me at all, I really enjoy, as you do, our conversations and discussions on here. I’ve said this before…it’s like a TV book club!
I do agree with a large part of what you said. As I said too…and let me make this stronger…I HATE infidelity. I’ve never been a part of it in any way. If it happened to me by someone I loved I’d be devastated. I’ve also been hit on by married guys (as I’m sure a lot of us have) and no matter how cute, hot ,wealthy etc as would never go there…
But! I look at this differently. Obviously in watching and getting to know these characters for so long we form opinions of them as we do with people in real life. I LiKE Dante. He’s one of the good ones.mhe’s been nothing but a good guy who always tries to do the right thing, which is why he was always so morally torn about Sonny. A man he’s grown to know and love as his father, who loves him…and the criminal he wants to put away.
If Dante was a new character and I didn’t “know” him I might feel different. I don’t think he was trying to prove anything. That might apply to guys who are emotionally immature ( no matter how old they are) who need to have one “conquest” after another to prove their worth…or guys who are incapable of love. Neither is Dante. He acted out of despair…he never stopped loving Lulu. It tore them both apart emotionally and they harps enough love to forgive each other. Can’t go back and undo wrongs but sometimes taking a leap of faith is worth it… 🙂
Lol CeeCee…now I’m the one to feels a need to say more. In reality, since (knock on wood) it hasn’t happened I don’t know what I would do if I was Lulu. I hope I be able to forgive and not let it destroy a great love. I would have been too frustrated and thought it sad that they broke over a series of poor choices that led to hurt…especially when both people involved still had so much love for each other and neither did anything to purposely or deviously hurt the other. This is a tv show and in this make believe world my feelings were, and are, for them to have made the choice they did…to stay together. And, just to point out, the ghost of Valerie did stand between them for a long time. That’s why Lulu left, why she couldn’t have sex with Dante, why they bought a new bed, why Lulu wanted to Johnny to scare Valerie out of town, why they did those relationship exercises…their getting back together wasn’t easy or quick.
In a different scenario, Carly cheated on Jax when she was married to him and cheated on Franco while she was engaged to him. Why? Beep cause she couldn’t resist her attraction/feelings for him even though she loved Jax and still loved Franco when she cheated on him too. THOSE instances are completely different from Dante and Lulu’s situation and Zi was on Jax and then Franco’s side all the way. Carly was despicable.
Ughhhhhhhh!!!!!!lol…not beep cause, because. And Carly cheated on Jax and Franco with Sonny.
I understand what you’re saying, Rebecca. Truly I do. Dante was ‘lost’ and Valerie was ready and willing.
You’re right. I did’t know Dante. I am not saying I don’t like him; I am just indifferent to this character.
However, Dante is not stupid, right? He knew there was something was brewing between him and Valerie. He could have done so much to avoid the inevitable. To me, that says one thing. He let it happen because he liked it. So, I don’t know if it was out of desperation or he craved tasting new flesh.
This happens all the time in real life. And, people are entitled to deal with the situation at will. I could not live with a man; share ‘our’ bed; or even look at him and not think about what he did. Later.
question: did Lulu find out… about Valerie and Dante… before or after Valerie and Dante did it a second time ?
that’s tantamount to carrying on an affair
why do we lessen the blow if it’s a one night stand ?
who wants to look for signs of equal amounts of forgiveness and how long the walk on egg shells … plus the give and take in the tryst arena
LOL
oy! it’s too much action to drama.. I do not care to REEL this
so.. in a lot of ways i’m with Celia… is just not a part of my journey. ever !?!?
time goes by so fast ! I remember thinking… ???? GH is letting these two heal their relationship with an advice article from ??? Crimson ? bam… the end ?
it’s too much dynamic to examine … I will say it’s not fair… when it’s either or who strayed… the hurt the anger the pain the elephant
why bother ?
couple that are neither here nor their… but are a necessary being… because they are happy… and I need to see that amidst all the REEL of mob, hospital, PCPD… legalese… etc….
I count on Dante and Lulu… along with Nathan and Maxie. they belong on the canvas
of these 4… I still think… Dante could be a corporate guy… he looks so good in suits… and has that strong persona… a tough Puerto Rican… who could have been a corporate mogul. sounds intriguing to me… these bumbling cops LOL
WOW… their really is a lot of baby stuff going on
Alexis pregnancy scare
Lulu starts her embryo journey
Sam is pregnant
Nina is AGAIN wanting her baby at any cost by any means ?
PS: when and where will the journey of Jason and Sam LIGHT UP ????
it was like apples and oranges… the happiness Dante and Lulu SHARED when they found out and are ready to get that embryo planted
vs… LOL sorry ! but they generated little to nothing about being a happy couple…. PLUS add in the marriage proposal…. i’m sorry this couple is DOA
When writers continue to throw a baby into every damn storyline (Nina, Sam, Lulu) just spells laziness and a total lack of imagination!! I like it better when Dante was boinking Valerie because at least then we didnt have Lulu gushing @ babies in EVERY scene! I’ m fine with “Lante” being off the screen if that is ALL they can come up with for a storyline!!
And …… Apparently the only ones laughing @ Cassadine island and enjoying Valentin are the actors themselves. It isnt enjoyable. Valentin isnt needed and the writers can’t write an adventurous story if they tried! Wake me up when they stop boring us to tears! Nite !
LOL
I agree. Although I had high hopes for Valentin, this story has tanked quickly.
Yes it has. I think throwing Nina into this story isnt helping.
I could not agree with you more, Ces. This baby stealing, switching, whatever, …..it’s too much already.
Now we are faced with Nelle. I just have this creepy feeling she will ‘steal’ a baby….any baby. Lulu’s?
Yeah, I don’t think Nellie is all sweet. Maybe sinister? I can’t believe Carly would leave a child (not even hers!) with a stranger!
Ces…the story just started. We haven’t seen the end of Valentin and those of us who miss the Cassadines might enjoy wherever it is they’re taking his story. No, it wasn’t half as exciting (there were parts that were beyond ridiculous) as past Cassadine tales…but with all the major players gone…Helena (supposedly), Stavros, Stephan…Luke…(who always played a major role in the cat/mouse games)…it might be hard to replicate. I’m willing to give it a chance. I think Valentin, in his slow, steady, just-below-the-surface crazy could be an interesting character. As for those of us who remember the stories as they used to be…well…they “used” to be. Lulu And a Cassadine baby? Just like Laura…
That’s exactly what I said to Jimh. Valentin is just floating somewhere for now. Until the next time….
Lucky is off the canvas. They might as well dump Lulu until they have a story for her and Lucky resurfaces. Lets just focus on Laura and Kevin right now.
Rebecca, I also was a fan of the Cassadines and GH back in those days, but this writing team doesn’t know how to write for them. That *adventure* on Cassadine Island was laughable and so far, Valentin is about as menacing as Dr. O; more clown-like than anything. I Loved the Cassadines of the old days, Mikkos, Victor, Stavros … Helena!
I am not holding my breath with this story and like Timm said, I think Lulu can just leave the show for awhile.
Yeah, I like that Timmy. If this is another stolen embyo fiasco for Lulu and Dante; I doubt any of us wants to go through that again.
If any baby twist should happen, it should be with Hayden. Methinks she’s pregnant already.
Regardless, one way or another, there will be some kind of baby drama…..unfortunately.
Speaking of Nina and babies: is there a chance Nina is pregnant with Valentin’s baby? Imagine Nelle stealing her baby. What irony!!
I know, I am going overboard here. But, I’m telling you, Ces…..Nelle is a baby thief.
And, the Mrs OBrien ( Nelle’s pretend supervisor) Carly spoke to is the ring-leader.
Sonny is showing reservations where Nelle is concerned. For once his so-called sharp intuition ( the criminal, suspicious kind) is working for the right reason.
lol!! I think you are far more creative than the writers Celia!
HaHa, @Ces. Thanks. Good to know.
Mrs. “O”brian could be Dr. O? I think “Fonzie” has his antennas up because he is suspicious of Jax and thinks that Nelle and Jax know each other.
@Timmm.
I know, Timmmy. I tried suggesting that. But, everyone’s consensus is that Jax is basically a good guy.
So, how will that work? I don’t trust Nelle, but I do trust Jax not to hurt his child, albeit I know he’s involved with the kidney finagling. Maybe Nelle sees an opening of a more devious kind and seizes the opportunity. She works for Mrs. O’Brien.
Speaking of Lulu and babies, how cruel was it to have her and Dante christen their new house with bad news from Dr. Lee! That sucked!
Yeah! Carly has established herself in the cushy chair of motherhood. Failed motherhood, that is. Her maternal instincts stink!!
Poor little kid. Stuck between a rock and a hard place: Ava and Carly.
I always believed Avery belonged with her mother, but, after what Ava did today? Messing with Morgan’s pills? That’s sooo criminal …….which makes me wonder if Ava is really concerned about Kiki’s well-being or is she still hung-up on Morgan , and is jealous?
Well, now…let’s see. Sonny seems to be the only responsible parent? How and when did that happen? He has been so mellow, lately.
Wowwee!! Are the PTB getting what they are trying so hard to get ? Turning Sonny into a Jesus-like figure? Well, he needs to be crucified first.
lol!! another great post Celia!
Yeah, when did Sonny become the Saint? He’s actually turning out to be the better choice between all three.
I really wish Carly would stuff it!! I’m so tired of the way she acts now all sanctimonious and judgmental of everyone but herself. That annoying laugh she does makes my skin crawl too.
First it was all about Avery, then Joss had her turn and now it’s all about Nelle. Over it. I hope Sonny finds some cookie on the side like Dante did and they do away with this couple for good. I think Alexis could use some loving 😉 I can hear the Julexis fans now …… hahahaha
Ceecee…Jax IS a good guy..well with soap opera flaws like trying to keep a baby that wasn’t his…and being a shark in business. With it all, he really is good. That’s not to say he isn’t up to his neck in the kidney heist, lol…but he’d never hurt any of his children…any child. As I say that, he WAS very desperate to save his daughter’s life so he knew or did something…but he’s not involved in any black market ring on an ongoing basis unless he’s being bribed…don’t know…just do know that he’s basically good, caring and against violence which is why he and Sonny were enemies. Jax tried to keep all those he loved out of Sonny”s orb. Problem is, just like with Julian, they have common people in their lives. Alexis is the mother of Sonny’s child but also Jax’s best friend and ex wife (they married for a reason). Both Sonny and Jax married Carly, both Sonny and Jax were engaged to Brenda, Jax adopted Morgan…
Sonny is not uncharacteristically a good father. He!s always been one. He was a father-like to Stone in a lot of ways…Stone was Robin’s ex-boyfriend who died of Aids. (She caught HIV from him). Sonny took him into his home and cared for him til the day he died. He’s always been fiercely protective of his kids no matter what was going on in his life. If you recall he also risked his life to save TJ which is why he got shot and became temporarily paralyzed. He was good to Lila, the adorable matriarch of the Quartermaine’s (Tracy and Alan’s mother). Anyway, Sonny does have a good side. It’s just his vicious streak ala AJ knows no bounds and that smug “I do no wrong,” but everyone else does ( together with Carly) is maddening!
@Ces.
Thank you, Ces. You’re too nice. Now, I will get a swelled head. LOL.
I never had the chance at a look-see into Alexis’and Sonny’s ‘romance’ . Were they great together?
So, I wouldn’t mind seeing that. They do seem to be comfortable in each others’ company. But, Alexis should steer clear of such men….especially after the Julian debacle.
As far as the Julexis fans? I would give it a rest, albeit it’s a hard thing to do when a couple fulfills every expectation to a set group of fans. Later, my friend.
Ces, the Cassadines I remember are Stefan who I loved…and of course Alexis, Nicolas, Helena, Stavros. And you’re right, the island story wasn’t too exciting. It didn’t ome close to the old Cassadine chaos. But I just wonder if it ever could…we’re trying to recreate a time that doesn’ t exist anymore. Without Helena (and Luke), Stavros, Stefan…they’re all gone! As for Valentin, I didn’t find him clownish, more calculated. Maybe, hopefully, the story will involve Scorpio…maybe even Luke…throw in Faison and Valentin and it just might be good. I think Valentin is going to build momentum. We shall see…
Well, hopefully the writers know what to do with him.
No, they can never recreate the old Cassadines and bring back the fun storytelling of the 80s — those day are gone (sigh!!), but if the new regime is going to bring back a Cassadine, then they need to know how to write for him and how to tell an adventure. Adventure portion has bombed. See where this goes ….
“Lante” holds no interest for me; IMO the actors have zero chemistry on-screen. Emme really only has chemistry with Kirsten Storms; I like their friendship; but, even that is tainted by Lulu’s boring and incessant baby and embryo talk. It’s nauseating. I find Emme’s portrayal of Lulu to be more like an annoying little sister, not an adult wife and mother. Not sure if Dante has ever helped solved a crime..
I agree, dmr. These actors are fine on their own but together are Boredom Central. And why are people always wanting to add children when we (and they) don’t even see the ones they already have? Beats me. The only thing I enjoy about Dante is his great hair, long or short. As far as policing skills, anyone who would agree to arrest Jason (on that idiot Jordan’s say) after he had saved his life THREE times isn’t much of a person, let alone a cop.
I agree with you about Dante and Lulu. I would like see the show put Dante and Lulu with other people to perk the characters up a little bit.
Emme is right: Genie was and is awesome in All her scenes.
I like Emme and she seems fun. Maybe she is just with the wrong person? I FF through all of her and Dante’s crap. I’m sure the mystery baby will make things with them watchable but maybe she needs a new light in her life? She is Luke’s daughter. Let her have fun! Her and Johnny Z were fun together. I am often down on Lulu but please remember it is the character I am talking about, not the human being.
A lot of people I saw on twitter loved the Johnny and Lulu scenes before Johnny want to jail.
Lulu is a Spencer. Her mom and dad were adventurous! Julie Berman played Lulu that way. Emme plays her as a dizzy, boring blah! Dante is a blah! Johnny had life in him!
I really enjoyed the Cassadine Island adventure. Sure, it was a little dull, but overall I think the actors did a great job, even if the writing was a bit of a let down. And James Patrick Stuart is a welcome addition to the cast, Valentin is a fantastic new villain and just what the show needed. However, I can’t help but feel that if Ron was still head writer, the story would have been much more exciting.
As for a “Lante” baby, I think the embryo Helena stole from the Creighton-Clark clinic was fertilized by Stavros and implanted into that woman Daphne on Amiklon Lane. So she’s the surrogate for Stavros and Lulu’s baby. I think it’s great that even though we are to believe that Helena died last year (even though I doubt she did), her presence is still being felt and she can still send everyone into a tailspin.
Side note: the PCPD is a joke. Jordan claims she’s intent on finding the hospital killer, but all she does is delegate tasks to her detectives, argue with Andre and Paul, and sit behind her desk. And her two top detectives are useless! Nathan’s too busy shoving doctor-priests into walls and Dante’s too busy looking at ugly lamps with Lulu.
That leaves Valerie, the rookie detective who just got her badge about 5 minutes ago, solving the case with a little help from Curtis, a civilian with no legal right to know anything about the case, as he’s not a cop and it’s an open investigation. For all they know, Curtis could be the killer! Although I doubt that. I think the killer is Andre. But at this rate, Franco will solve the case first just so everyone stops blaming him for the murders!
Good post. I agree with most of it. “Looking at ugly lamps with Lulu…” by the way, what’s up with Olivia? She’s barely on but apparently liked the cutest of the “ugly lamps.” Dante could have arrested her for grab and nab. (Is that a term or did I just make that up?) 🙂
I get why Curtis is putting in his two cents. He was a cop and is a private investigator so we can call him a “consultant.”
I hope it’s not Andre. I doubt it but they always throw in those little soapy clues (sometimes it’s for real and most often to attempt to throw the viewer off) like when Jordan is sitting with Andre and she says the killer “could be sitting right under her nose…”
“Looking at ugly lamps” was missing my “lol.” Funny! But I have to admit though I kinda liked that sweet moment. And the writing is on the wall along with Dr. Munro’s back…Nathan IS still in love with Claudette…or at least has residual pangs. That scene, when Nathan went ballistic cracked me up. Don’t know why…I think it was Griffin telling Nathan he forgave him and before he finished his sentence he was practically lifted into the air. And then…they dropped the story two days and counting. Ridiculous place for the writers to cut to other stories…they should have picked up with it the next day. Sigh….well, I do think Ryan is really feeling more and more comfortable in the role…he’s come a long way since his first days on GH.
Jimmy, the in house Cassadine stuff was good. Once they went outdoors and the plane came into the picture, it SUCKED! I like your theory on the surrogate.
Jordan is the worst Commish ever!
Niiice post, Jimmy. Extremely well-written with some very titillating scenarios. I am especially intrigued by the Lante baby embryo suggestion.
And, yes….Helena’s presence is everywhere….feel her pulse.
Thanks Jimmy. Daphne being the surrogate for her embryo is an interesting possibility.
The show should move further into this direction. High Drama
If baby drama is all Lante aspire to, then perhaps GH doesn’t need them. I can’t imagine anyone being excited for a recycled story. It’s sad that this is what this once loved couple has been demoted to.
As far as Emme’s comments of the other actors on the show, is she really going to say someone is horrible? No she’s not. Not sure she’s qualified to comment on anyone’s performance when she clearly needs to work on her portrayal of Lulu. Lulu was a tough, feisty character now she comes across vapid and immature. Please don’t blame the writing as others have “bad writing” given to them and they pull off great performances.
I don’t like her as Lulu at all. She would have been better suited to a Sabrina type character, NOT Lulu Spencer.
This is not the Lante I fell in love with and don’t feel Emme knows anything about how Lulu should be played (she & the cast laughing at the “gun scene” says it all). Therefore I could care less if they have a baby or not. This story is as boring and tiresome as this couple.
Dante and especially this portrayal of Lulu is very boring. Helena was right, she is insipid. I laughed out loud when she asked Laura (after Nik’s funeral), “are you trying to get rid of me?” I said out loud, “YES!”
HaHaHaHaHa, dmr!!!!!!
Actors ALL stick together. Everyone is GREAT, AMAZING or WONDERFUL!
Well, Timmmbo; except for Eric B and Michael M.
Emme as Lulu is awful. I miss Julie’s Lulu.
Hilarious
what did you think of James Patrick Stuart’s introduction on to the canvas during that arc as Valentin Cassadine?
Courtesy/ABC
EMME: He was kicking ass! We were all on the set going, “Guys, there is an ACTOR here today!”
I hope Emme took notes!
I agree some of the dialogue is silly, but that is not J&S. Where I will fault J&S is them going overboard with “saintly” Sonny. I can stomach him being written as a better father, but saving everyone and solving nearly every problem is not true to who his character should be. A mobster needs flaws, constant ones! Now, the things I like…the diverse stories, using of vets more, seeing the hospital, core families having kids, we see more occupations and tying new characters to established characters. Stories I’d like to see is a competing business/corporation story, a fully thought out and played out ripped from the headline story..maybe immigration, BLM, glbt club dealing with hatred or ignorance or islmaphobia
What is it with this show’s obsession with babies??? Please…let this madness end! Is there nothing else the writers can come up with than more baby storylines? I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Jeez!
While I’m at it, drop Valerie, Curtis, Darby, Kiki (!), Franco (yawn), Olivia (she wears me out), and Andre (is he the killer in this fast-fading storyline or a red herring…who cares?).
It’s remarkable how much this show suffers without the great Finola Hughes. Perhaps she’ll bring Tristan Rogers (yes!) back with her when she returns from vacation?
I’m troubled by the current direction of this great program. A few more months of shows like the ones of the past week and we will see GH fall to Days of Our Lives’ level of ratings…or worse. Can a change in EP and writers be far off? Yikes! This program can be far better than what we are seeing now. 🙁
Agreed. Drop the fillers-Darby, Kiki, Morgan. I do like Dillion, however. Olivia, we see maybe once a week. I think I would take Kiki more seriously if she went by her real name, Lauren. Morgan is a moron.
I wish they would do with Roger Howarth what they did with Michael Easton – get rid of the current terrible character he’s playing, keep him off the canvas for about a year, and then bring him back in a much better role. I’m liking Finn much more than Silas so far, and if they brought Howarth back as maybe Jimmy Lee Holt or another character from GH’s past, I think he’d fare much better.
While we’re trimming the fat with useless characters, add Sabrina, Joe, Nina and Hayden to the list.
You did it again Jimmy, yes, send Roger on vacation and bring him back as a Q!
Hmmm. Today’s ‘skit’ and convoluted dialogue between Franco and Nina confused the heck out of me. Whaaaat??
I liked Franco and Nina’s talk CeeCee. First, I was always rooting for them as a couple; still like them but I’m curious to see where Liz and Franco go. And as we mentioned, Nina could get with Curtis and/or have a Valentin baby…possibilities….
But the conversation between Nina and Franco was very real to me. Ex lovers…still familiar to each other, Nina in particular still has feelings for Franco. Awkward exchange,,,kinda sad as they further their ending with her picking up her stuff yet he makes her a sandwich which he apparently did when they were together. I think she was trying to make him jealous with her confession and I think he was…if even for an instant. And concerned. Nice touch to their story.
Valerie can stay. I want Valerie to get a chance with Griffin.
Yeah, this is unacceptable. I think it’s time to jettison Lulu (and, as a result, Dante) when the inevitable cast trimming begins.
Lulu is a Spencer. With Luke and Lucky gone we need her. I think Emme’s adorable…as is Dominic. The writers need to feature them more with an interesting story. Both characters are grounded in a world of crazy. Soaps need normal, sane people/couples to balance the more who are over-the-top. I am hoping though that the Cassadine baby story involves them in a more dynamic way.
I always enjoy seeing Nina and Franco together, too….in whatever capacity. Their nonsensical ‘discourse’ confused me. I guess they were uncomfortable with each other?
Another thing. This is her place, why are Franco and Kiki living there? Nina is very generous and kind.
I think Nina and Franco will go full circle. I am just waiting for Curtis and Nina to hook up. There definitely is sexual tension….have at it, I say!!…..then, we shall see.
I don’t know if Franco and Liz ever will….indulge, that is. I hope they do, so that they will realize they are not fully emotionally equipped to deal with each other’s personalities and lifestyles.
And, yes, Rebecca…I agree…..Nina has very strong feelings for Franco, still. And, from what I observed; body language etc., so does he.
This is instrumentally the reason why these thespians are superlatively in their glory, as they ‘show-off’ their craft. They are so believably excellent.
I agree, Laura and Kevin can have a whirlwind romance. Dont need Clulu and the writers probably dont even know who Luke is?

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

Photo: ABC
DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons
IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
General Hospital
‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC
Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
