GH’s Nicholas Alexander Chavez Cast as Lyle Menendez In Ryan Murphy’s ‘Monsters’ Anthology Series
In some major Hollywood casting news, General Hospital’s Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) will be taking on the role of killer Lyle Menendez in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Netflix anthology series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
The series picks up from the previous season, which featured serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, played by Emmy award winner, Evan Peters. Now in the second season, Nick Chavez will play Lyle Menendez, while Cooper Koch will play his brother, Eric Menendez.
According to the season 2 log lines for Monsters, will tell the story of the real-life brothers, who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez. Although the siblings eventually confessed to parricide, they have long held that the reason for their actions was due to physical, emotional and sexual abuse. The brothers case continues to develop, following this past May when Erik and Lyle filed documents asking for a new hearing in response to former Menudo singing member, Roy Rosselló’s claims he was also molested by José Menendez at the age of 14.
It is not known how much of the Menendez brothers story will be told in Monsters season two. However, in a twist, Netflix also has an upcoming documentary on the real-life brothers as well.

While Chavez has his main role on GH as Spencer, Koch has been seen in the Starz drama Power Book II: Ghost. In another interesting twist, another soap star, Miles Gaston Villenueva (ex-Luca, Y&R) played the role of Lyle in the NBC’s Law and Order True Crime Series: The Menendez Brothers back in 2017.
According to Deadline, it appears the castings of Chavez and Koch happened pre-WGA Writer’s strike, but since then, there has been no movement on the series production.
So, what do you think of casting Nicholas Chavez as Lyle Menendez and this major role in his career? Comment below.
From his first month on air, we knew Chavez was bound for bigger things. A lot of credit goes to Teschner for finding him and Jennifer Smith/Cassie Callison (acting coach Holly Gagnier) for nurturing his talent.
Let’s enjoy Chavez for as long as we can.
Nicholas is young and will have a great career by leaving GH—-And– Nicholas may well be dancing a happy dance to be set free from Trina- , The best part is; Spencer and Trina the gawdawful couple hopefully die in a finial goodbye for my enjoyment:.. 🙂
While I wish the best for his career, I am not a Spencer fan. And I wouldn’t be “entertained” by the Lyle and Eric story at all. So I won’t be watching it. Hope he makes better choices in future roles.
Doubt this means Spencer is leaving GH. Netflix series usually have 8-10 episodes per season, and this being an “anthology” series, he’s only doing one season… it’s not going to take more than that to tell the Menendez brothers story, obviously.
So Nicholas could take a vacation shorter than the one his grandmother Laura takes every summer and film the Netflix show…. and since Netflix drops the entire season up front, it’s not like he would need more than one vacation to tape the entire season.
Of course success in this role could very well open the door to other streaming and/or prime time opportunities, but for now, there’s no reason to assume he’s done at GH.
ABC announced they’ll let him take time off. He has one year remaining on his GH contract (which might be temporarily extended due to time off for filming).
Good. I don’t see this actor staying at GH long.
What great news for this young actor! I have to admit that when he first began playing Spencer, I was skeptical about his acting abilities. But he has proven over time that he has what it takes. I wish him all the best in this upcoming role!
don’t they sign new comers to 4 years contracts? I’m sure he’s got a little more to go, and GH seems to be ok w/ letting their actors do other projects, but what do I know, its good for him to spread his wings and do other stuff, hopefully he wants to keep doing GH.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
