General Hospital
GH’s Steve Burton, Laura Wright & Kelly Thiebaud Deliver The ‘Power Performances of the Week’
In a power play to show strength and solidarity against their enemies, a major move by longtime best friends, looks to shake up the canvas of General Hospital for some time to come, and within the framework of the story, three performers took the material they were given and broke our hearts throughout last week’s episodes of the ABC daytime drama series.
Steve Burton (Jason) and Laura Wright (Carly) showed us the deep-inner conflict of their characters as after a remark by Ava (Maura West) about marriage being in-part a contract, but also part theater in the life of the mob, the two longtime besties come to a conclusion.

With the territory beginning to ramp up the violence again within the five families, Jason thinks if they got married it’s the best decision for the business with Sonny (Maurice Benard) gone. He points out there is no going back from this. Then, Carly recalls their history, how they were once together, until she ultimately pushed him away, and Jason reminds her how she tests and tests things until they break, which is why her relationship with Sonny worked so well as a duo, and why with him it did not. An emotional Carly thinks everyone will think she planned this given her history with Jason. He assures her that all that is important is that the two of them know why they took this step.
Later in the week, Jason and Carly meet again, and it’s at that moment that Carly realizes she has to take off her wedding rings to Sonny. Jason says she doesn’t have to do that right now if she is not ready. She bites the bullet and says that it has to be done. As she removes her wedding rings, she breaks down in tears and notes how much she misses Sonny.

Throughout the week, there was another key player in all of this, Britt. After admitting how much she is falling for Jason, she is excited that Jason is coming by her room to see her at the Metro Court. When he shows up, Britt knows something is up. Jason tells Britt he is marrying Carly, and that it is the best move to protect the family and the business. He is overcome delivering this information to Britt, just when things were starting between the two of them. A devastated Britt tells Jason to get the hell out. Jason tells her that she matters to him and that he will be there for her. She cries as she tells him she doesn’t want his pity or support, and she should have known that Carly will always come first. Britt is completely blind-sided and shocked as Jason leaves.

Next, a heartbroken Britt visits Brad (Parry Shen) in Pentonville, where a stunned Brad learns that Britt slept with Jason, and she fills him on how they came together and how it’s now called-off between her and the hit man. Brad is so sorry Jason hurt her, but then says, “Staying away from Jason probably will add years to her life expectancy.” Sadly, Brad doesn’t know that Britt has the marker for Huntington’s Disease.

Throughout all of her scenes, Kelly Thiebaud played all the beats to perfection, and who knew we all would care so much for the “Britch”, but we do in the capable hands of this talented actress.

So, for all the reasons noted above Michael Fairman TV names Steve Burton, Laura Wright and Kelly Thiebaud work the Power Performances of the Week.
Now let us know, what did you think of the scenes featuring Jason, Carly and Britt, and where the storyline is heading? What did you think of Steve, Laura, and Kelly’s performances? Let us know in the comment section.
Spot on ! 100%
The Devil is about to make a prediction here….
Britt, being all upset, decides to take a road trip. She eventually ends up in “Nixon Falls PA” (where ever that is) and goes to the local bar for a drink. Where she finds a bartender who looks really familiar.
And brings Sonny back home, just in time to crash the Jason & Carly wedding. Because you know this is going to be a big church wedding. It HAS to be…. because a simple “let’s go to the courthouse and have a judge do a quickie wedding ceremony” isn’t going to cut it when the whole point of the wedding is a visual sign of solidarity & stability to the rival mob families.
So get ready to see some more “power performances” when that all plays out…..
So interesting, your predictions.. I will amazed yet scared if there come true…
( but what’s in a name eh? )
I wish she would so she can have jason back
Satan…Sounds as reasonable as anything else lately, which I’ve kind of enjoyed as a break from the tedious Sonny and Carly. I like Jason with Brit. Also I’m thinking maybe the Ava and Nicholas intruder might be Spenser. A nice, smart kid, but still a Cassadine with all the keys and access to the island who wants to break up their marriage.
Rose, I like your theory about Spencer, mostly because I hate the thought of introducing yet another new, unwanted character. I like Ava and hotter-than-hot Nikolas together, so I’d like to wrap up this tale quickly.
Yeah, the SORASed Spencer recast has already been spoiled on other boards. Sucks that they had to give up the original Spencer, but they thought he looked too young (and short) to be hanging with Joss, Trina, and Cam. Even though in reality, he was only a year or so younger than them.
Child actors usually aren’t talented enough to stick with the character as they move into teenage years & actual acting. Nicholas Bechtel was one of the few exceptions. As was Kimberly McCullough (Robin) who we all watched grow up on GH (Emma may fit this description as well…. if we ever see either of them again…. though I imagine Robin will have to show up for the Alan tribute episode, when ever that may be)
Bechtel is kind of like Robyn Richards who played Maxie through childhood until they upped the character’s prominence. With Richards, the first recast didn’t work out and she came back for a short time before they eventually signed Kirsten Storms.
Would love to see this!!!!
I agree but somehow they will have to figure out link Nina to it as well. Maybe she walks in on Nina & Mike kissing and dancing.
Let brit bring Sonny home and stop the wedding. Let nothing come between Sonny and Cary again.Let the chic who kept Sonny’s whereabouts hidden, pay for her deception.Sonny and Carly is GH
Amen. I want Nina to be found out and jason and britta together
Amen is right! I love Jadon and Britt together!
That would be great!!
ITA with everything you! All three were wonderful. Steve Burton and Kelly Thiebaud were especially fantastic! The emotions displayed by them during their scenes were amazing!
Agree
I hate this whole storyline the the writers need to take several seats and let’s get back to serious storylines.iam so disappointed in general hospital the last couple of weeks.all the Nina and sonny mess now carly and Jason. Send SONNY home and get him back to carly and his family .And let us see some BRITT AND JASON STORYLINES. WAKE UP WRITERS.
My thoughts 100%!!!!
I totally agree! I have been saying this since the Sonny/Nina story started. They aren’t the only ones playing the romance musical chairs. There’s Jordan/Curtis/Portia, Anna/Valentin/Finn/Elizabeth and Michael/Willow/Chase. Too msny triangles!
I agree. Let’s get those with best chemistry together and move on.
Agree….I just want Michael with Willow….Finn with Elizabeth and Curtis with Portia. Let Trina turn out to be Curtis daughter
Michalene Haynes,
Yes, I want Sonny home too, only if it is to rein his wife in, and away from Jason. I have enjoyed the past few weeks and for the most part found them fun and exciting, the best part getting rid of Peter August, the worst being the reconstructed Franco into Austin. Now, they are starting up all the new storylines,i.e Alexis and Shawn, Ava, Nickolas and Spencer, Brit and Jason and probably bringing Brad back, who I hate, and we will be seeing Carly and Sonny reunite, or not, Nina and whomever, etc.oh, and I almost forgot Dr. Phinn and Liz (boo!) and the list goes on. I think we have a lot to look forward to and I for one can’t wait!
Yes send Sonny home!! Put him in a car in route to Port Charles to visit Nina on the day of THE wedding … he gets into an accident … then transported to GH … maybe have Dr Robinson treat him (because she doesn’t know him that well so wouldn’t recognize him right away). Have Britt recognize Sonny and she then takes off to The wedding to tell Jason and Carly that he is a live!!! Because of a head injury or something he has no memories of Mike but knows that he is Sonny!!! Nina is forgotten and would be in the clear from keeping him away from his family … but the best part is Nina will be forgotten and her punishment will be to figure out how to get over this man that she knows has a wife and a family that loves him and misses him!!!
Wishful thinking
I agree. I’m tired of the Nina/Mike story. Sonny needs to return to stop this foolish wedding; and once everyone (especially Michael) finds out Nina knew for a long time Sonny was alive, no more Wiley for her! Let Jason and Britt be together PLEASE!!!!
I think I’m going on hiatus until this plays out.
Thank you!!! It is just too much all over the place, Did Peter escape the freezer, Liz and Finn, just too much.
Donna Gregory
Hi, I think they thawed him out in the microwave. No worse than any other crazy ideas they come up with
Omgggg I agree with you Michalene….I would love to see Brit with Jason. She changed her ways and I like who she become after dealing with Jason. She accepts him for who he is. I just wish JASON would have explained a little more what exactly that marriage means….business only and express how he feels about her more in depth because it’s clear that he is falling for her too. I’m glad to see he moved on from Sam. They really need to wrap up this sonny amnesia storyline it’s too boring. Bring him back to stop the wedding and regain his memory so he can take over and sonny can go on being his right hand msn with a life with Brit.
But also make Nina pay for keeping his status of being alive. She DONT care that he has children or anything but you hurt Carly!
Love Jason and Britt together. Really wish Sonnie and Carly will reunite before the wedding n
Well, Kelly really took top honors here. I didn’t find anything extraordinary in Steve or Laura’s work, nothing I haven’t seen before. Britt has really become a major, fascinating character and I’m looking forward to a lot more of her. I’d like her sexy pal Brad to be out of prison too. I mean, come on, murderers have served less time! They’re a great, kitschy combo.
I think in the end, Britt and Jason will end up together, and Sonny will soon regain his memory. They can’t keep dragging out the Nixon Falls story indefinitely. I would just like to know what Nina hopes to gain from all of this. Sonny wouldn’t have given her a second look before he became “Mike,” and even if his memory never comes back, there’s no way she can keep him away from his family forever. We’re supposed to believe that Nina has made so much progress from when she was first introduced, and then she goes and does this? Totally ridiculous, and I hope she pays the price for it.
Jimmy
You nailed it right here! Nina is really getting on my nerves in every way. Wish they could make her disappear.
Carly is going to rip her apart
Britt and Jason are my favorite couple…I’m feeling Brenda/Sonny vibes from the 90s!!
Kelly is amazing!!! I really liked her and Jason together and she was so happy! Steve, the sadness, the sadness in his eyes, amazing and Laura made me cry.
Hello, I’ve been following this Story Line , And been a long time fan of GH ✨ All three Actors did a Fantastic Job in there Performance, especially Laura Wright:her emotions are so authentic, in her scenes but .. it’s time to bring Sonny Home to Carly an his Family, Brit needs to be Jasons Leading Lady, it’s a new Pairing it’s exciting with a bit of of a edge 2 hearts come together ♥️ they make such a Pretty Couple I’m hoping the Writers can make the Magic Work An Make the Changes I think this will make a lot of Fans Very Happy Okay Patricia Media Make- Up Artist an Stylist
I agree sonny and Carly belong together.Jason and Britt need yo be together. On Jason and Britt they could have she is pregnant but who is the father,Jason or jax.
While this is not a favorite storyline of mine right now, I do admit that SB comes alive in scenes with KT. Hopefully the writers revisit them sooner rather than later.
I do like that Jason, Carly and Michael all mentioned Monica. How the times have changed… no one said anything about Sam. The character who risked everything to be with Jason is now on screen less than Scotty. That, my friends, is not necessarily a bad thing.
Jason, per usual, doesn’t seem to think about how to tell his boys.
Having a hard time recalling the last time GH had a completed wedding with two characters that were actually supposed to be in love with each other at the time of the ceremony. Do we have to go back to Curtis and Jordan?
Chase/Willow – one-sided “in love”
Nikolas/Ava – she blackmailed him
Michael/Willow – convenience at first
TJ/Molly – domestic partners only
Julian/Nell – convenience/off screen
Steve
I only have two words for you, Sam who?
I-am
I love Britt n Jason
He does have feelings
The two together made me cry!
Let them be together.
Great storyline.
It’s about time Jason is happy!
Great chemistry with Britt.
It’s about time he grew a pair!
They were amazing. I can’t stop watching the Britt and Jason scenes. I so wanted to see them together. Hopefully, Carly and Jason don’t get married so Britt and Jason will find their way back to each other.
Laura wright and Steve Burton belong together from since 2005 when Laura sign on with general hospital..Laura wright who plays Carly is an excellent actress and so is Steve Burton..Britt is pure nonsense always been just like her mom ovabritt..I hope Carly and Jason bring there pass back to life..it would be nice to see after 20 years how that flame comes back to life
I’d like to see Carly and Jason from 20 yrs ago missed that go round.
Suggestion on general hospital. They need to bring back story line of casadines .adventure it would be and I think everyone would like that story line.
Hated the part of Jason letting Britt go and him acting with Carly as a couple hated it… And get sonny back to his character as sonny now before the marriage with sonny is destroyed forever!! Keep Carly with him no matter what and not with Nina Love them but stop destroying relationships that should last or be together we do love a story that atleast some people find real love too sometimes.. I get that it’s a soap but sometimes we do love to see some couples last that’s what makes it beautiful .. Jason and Britt should stay together sonny and Carly too no matter what. I’ve watched this show since I was a little girl with my mom she watched up until her passing in 2019 we were not aloud to call her while she was watching GH either she didn’t want her time to be interrupted while watching lol anyway love you all such great actors and actresses on GH and wow what a writer producers and all them that pull this together amazing talent they all have!!! ♥️♥️
Hope the Emmys remember, Carly’s performance was exceptional..I just hope Sonny pops through the door before they say I Do. I know Maurice likes playing Mike, let him do it with Carly!
Everyone wants Sonny home before the wedding, but even if they were to get married if Sonny is still alive I don’t think the marriage would be legal. What worries me is that Carly would lure Jason into doing his “husbandly” duties and we all know he’ll do whatever she wants.Thats the only weak part of him I don’t like.
I know, Violet. It’ll be a retread of the Elizabeth/Jake Doe wedding…and the return of Phyllis on Y&R a few years back. Let’s hope the guests keep the receipts for their gifts. I had hopes for Jason with Britt, but he’s back to “Carly’s robot” mode.
I’ve been watching general hospital for at least 35 years. I love these characters. The performances were at a perfection. These are all seasoned characters. In my opinion, I feel that Jason should be with Brit. I love these two characters together. We have seen a new side to Brit and her and Jason make a great power couple. Carly needs to stay as Jason’s best friend. I feel it’s time to bring back Sonny. Amazing performance by all three characters. It’s wonderful to see the soft side of Jason.
DID NOT LIKE WHAT HAPPEN WITH JASON AND BRITT
Well, you seem to be in the minority.
I wish this amnesia thing would end. Sonny will come back in time and Carly and Jason would NOT marry then Jason could be with Britt!
this has heebie jeebie and creepazoid written all over !!!! unreal to give Laura Wright’ Carly so much material. which is neither here nor their, in the scope of things….. long run. her character has bottomed out. she’s now a notorious mob queen… AND is marrying “her” brother… it’s like watching her @confession, how much she “relies” on Jason… the one and only “idiot” who thinks she’s worth any thing. carly, now truly, without redeeming quality… PLEASE… she’ll grandstand when Valentini needs her to bellow, loud stomp , AND ask the audience for attonement. Christ she bugs me to no end… so many – OTHER – LEADING ladies on which to REEL. this “NEW” Sonny and Carly will peter out… Maurice Benard knows it. take them out of the equation .. you still have ‘ General Hospital… who would mis and or need them? LOSERS
Patrick, you’re spot on about Carly and Sonny. “…bugs me” is one (somewhat tactful) way to put it. I’m beyond tactful with these two…
Patrick
I guess James beat me on what I was going to say. Bugs me, is too nice to say about that blonde b—-. I don’t know if this will appear in print, but I have to say it like it is, and I would love to see someone smack that damn arrogant smirk off her face.
Screen!!
Violet, great to read your comment here — and that it appeared in print — noticed by me 2 weeks after it was posted! So glad to see that we (Patrick, you, myself, among others, no doubt) agree on this point about the character of Carly.
Think it’s time that sonny gets his memory back, bust nina get back to running portcharles.get carly back and get Jason back with britt
I really like Britt with Jason I’m sick of Carly coming in between now then
Nope didn’t BRITSON didn’t fly at all. Nor did the brk up with JASam. CarlSon at least makes sense.
Frank Valentini, if you visit this site, the fans have made their feelings known! No more Sonny (Mike)/Nina; Jason with Britt and Sonny with Carly. Enough already!
Lew S: “Enough already” indeed! These GH producers (current and former) long ago gave up any interest or respect for the feelings of their fans. They continue to push these (at best) polarizing mob characters who have long stolen the thunder from the “Hospital.” They have run their course. It’s well past time to move on.
Oh Jamesj75, so right. Now we’re also being treated/subjected to all the rival families putting in occasional appearances. I watch THE GODFATHER EPIC several times a year; I don’t need cheap knockoffs. And I don’t know what’s worse: saddling terrific Britt with Huntington’s disease, Jason, or now Jax. I was liking the Jason pairing until this lamebrain marriage idea popped up. This story, including Nina and “Mike”, is a cul de sac… we just keep going round and round. Notice the cul de sac/KNOTS LANDING reference; now THAT was a show!
Hey Soaphound! Thanks for your backup and reply. Sorry I am seeing it so late. I miss the days when we were notified that someone replied to one of our posts. But I digress… I love your use of the phrase “cheap knockoffs.” I honestly think that GH went down the path of Sonny and the Mob because of the success of HBO’s “The Sopranos” and never looked back.
And I do like the cul de sac reference via Knots Landing, and this comes from someone who lives in a cul de sac and whose home was once described as a “Knots Landing” home. Sounds like another cheap knockoff! 🙂
I’ve never liked Carly and now even more so that she doesn’t care how her actions are affecting everyone just to get her own needs met. What gets me is her empty claim of marrying Jason for the “good of the family”. We know that’s all B.S because she seems to care and want to hold her mob together more. Jax is a pain in the butt, but he is right about her. Iam even pissed at Jason right now, putting her before everyone and just going along with her demands and wishes. What a wuss he’s turning into, makes me sick. Nina’s involvement is almost worse, letting it happen without a word. Only thing that makes me happy is how many people will despise her when they find out what she’s been hiding all these months. She’ll be lucky to see Wiley through a window.
I liked Michael with Sasha and Willow with Chase. I’m glad Sasha was paired up with Brando but still don’t know that I like Willow with Michael…yet. I love Laura Wright but wish she were a different character because I end up having to dislike her. When I think of Carly, I think of the original actress I loved to completely HATE and I would never want Carly to be with Jason. I hope this is NOT the bliss Carly always wanted. I hope Jason NEVER sleeps with Carly, that he loves her more like a sister and that he “cheats” on Carly with Brit while Brit gets distracted by Jax. Jax would have NEVER been with the original Carly either so it has always been hard for me to watch that jerk get everything she always wanted. Lol. Although I have a hard time with seeing any chemistry between Mike and Nina, I hope she will be ok when it comes out. I would love for Nina and Mike to stay friends and Mike to NOT like Carly as a person. Carly was the typical jerk and deserves to not be with Sonny for a long time. I know Austin is a Q and it would be nice if he were a real Q son and that Jason ends up not being a Quartermaine at all so Carly can’t get that fantasy. Lmao.
All the performances were great!! As usual, GH is and will stay the BEST soap EVER!!
I’m not quite sure why all the Carly hate as the character’s been there for 30 years and isn’t going anywhere. I love how fans hate Carly but love Ava who killed Connie in cold blood, had a hand in the deaths of AJ and Morgan, and was willing to kill her own brother to keep her own secrets.
And I’m not sure is everyone saw what I saw; Carly didn’t ask Jason to marry her,she wasn’t pining for him, or even trying to break up he and Britt. Jason told her she was the target because she sat in on the meeting. So if Jason doesn’t kill Carly, there will be a full mob war and the first target will be Carly and her family! That’s why there getting married! Now, that this is not a popular choice, I agree (I hate it). There’s a reason GH didn’t win best writing this year. What I don’t understand is a) why they couldn’t just tell Britt, Sam and Elizabeth the reason for the marriage (they all know how t keep secrets) and why Joss didn’t figure it out like Michael did.
As for Jax, they can take is fake so-called god act outta here. I’ll never forget that when Michael remembered who shot him and Jason and Sonny sent him to Mexico to hide, Jax knew Jerry was going to Mexico to kill Michael and didn’t tell ANYONE – he was willing for Michael to die all to protect his brother who’s a psychopath! So Jax is crap.
I’m not sure why they continue the mob story because it’s not portrayed as real. In the real world, the only way out of the mob is death or witness protection. But not in GH. You can leave with no consequences which questions why have the mob in the first place. And secondly, Sonny’s mob activity does NOT include gun running, narcotics, prostitution or loan-sparking, so what illegal activity is he involved in! I don’t blame Maurice for being sick of playing Sonny, so he not give him the same out as Ava and create storylines around that. (He was effectively out of the mob — we had little mob activity — after Jason was shot”dead” but Sonny, Carly still had story and it opened up for other characters.
moors60,
Your comments were very interesting. I liked Laura Wright from GL but when I started watching GH a few years ago, I disliked her instantly.Maybe she plays her too well. I have a love/hate thing for Ava for reasons you mentioned. She should never have gotten away with killing Connie. Also, I have often wondered what Sonny,s “mob” does, import bad coffee? Jason is worse than Carly in my book, in that he caters to her every whim, this one being the worst. If I ever hear Sonny say ” you guys did the best thing” I’ll throw up. I think when he returns he will be looking for Nina and not Carly, which should really be a blow to Carly’s ego. Can’t wait!
I love Jason and Britt together. All of my friends that watch GH agree they belong together and can be GH’s next super couple! Please get these two together!!!!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
