Hudson West Makes a Return to General Hospital

In a very welcome return, look for Hudson West to reprise his role as Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Jason’s (Steve Burton) son, Jake next week on General Hospital.

When we last saw Hudson, it was back in March of this year when he joined the rest of the Webber clan in giving a send-off to his half-brother, Cameron who was leaving Port Charles for college.

West took over the role of Jake from James Nigbor back in the spring of 2016, and fans had enjoyed seeing West grow up on-camera.  Now, according to Soap Opera Digest, look for Hudson to appear on-screen next week on the Monday, August 21st episode of the ABC daytime drama series.

Jake is reported to be in scenes with his mom, Elizabeth and Austin (Roger Howarth).  Viewers of GH have been hoping that at some point all of Liz’s son will return to the canvas including: Enzo De Angelis as Aiden and, of course, William Lipton as Cameron.

Hopefully, the soap stays the course and allows the characters to properly age before our eyes and not SORAS them, where all of a sudden Liz would have all twenty-something sons.

So, are you excited to see Hudson back on GH? What do you think the series should do with Liz’s sons? Bring them all back? Share your thoughts below.

Rebecca Herbst has been blessed with youthful looks. None of her boys were sorased unlike most child characters born on the canvas this century. Heck, wasn’t Jake was born on screen before Joss and Spencer? Molly has been sorased all the way to menopause.

Hoping we’ll get a few weeks of Cameron, too. Shows taped earlier this month will soon be airing. Lipton would almost certainly be on break.

It’s time for another teen set. Jake, Rocco, Charlotte and perhaps a sorased Georgie.

Avery, Leo and Violet should age naturally as all 3 are quite impressive.

These kids are really something, aren’t they.? They sometimes outshine the older actors. Violet and Leo especially amaze me, so natural and never acting like they were memorizing a script. Maxie’s kids are really advanced , would like to see Liz’s youngest and Sam’s son Johnny.

I don’t know if you know this Violet, but Easton Rocket Sweda, who plays Leo, has autism in real life (as does Wally Kurth’s real life son). Interesting and impressive that at such a young age he’s playing the role of a kid who has autism knowing that he’s representing people who do. Brilliant kid; adorable.

Rebecca,
Yes, I did know quite a while back when they published a little story he wrote about himself. Wally’s son I did not know about.

Absolutely awesome

Spoilers say Cameron returns to lend a helping hand…if the show didn’t soaras the Jake would be Older than Josslyn by 2yrs and younger than Spencer by a little over a year…Cameron would older than Spencer by nearly a yr and a half and older than Molly by a year!

Yes we need them back seeing how finn and liz is togeather the boys should be there with v

And now Hayden is returning Finn is on the rebound with Elizabeth he belongs with Hayden.

There are no signs or plans that Hayden is returning

I haven’t read she’s returning; and I truly hope she isn’t. First, I can’t stand the character. Second, we just spent a century waiting for Liz and Finn to become a couple. I really don’t want to have gone through that for nothing especially when Finn and Liz finally have potential.

If they ever bring back Hayden, there’s a strong probability it won’t be Rebecca Budig. She’s been quoted a few times saying she was burned multiple times by the show dropping her with little notice. Budig seems to be to Frank what Kristina Wagner was to Jill in the early aughts (although Hayden is not a true legacy character like Felicia).

Lol, he isn’t on the rebound with Liz since he’s been with Anna, etc in between. He’s like a shy school boy with Elizabeth and it’s really cute. Different than the others.

I want Jake to interact with his family the Quartermaines including his grandaunt Tracy his late grandfather Alan Quartermaines sister but I’m so glad HW is back as Jake.

I completely forgot Jake is Jason’s son! They never mention it anymore and you’re right; he should have had contact with Monica (when she was a visible character as opposed to an imaginary one now), Michael, Drew, Ned, Tracy. They’re all his blood relatives! Same with Ava and Leo; she’s his aunt and we never see them together or Avery with Leo; they’re cousins.

The last time we saw Monica onscreen was the one-day recast telling Jake about her relationship with Jeff Webber.

Jake should have more scenes with Drew as he thought he was his father until Steve Burton returned as the real Jason.

Olivia has rightfully never forgiven Ava for killing Connie. Sam is likely the only relative of Julian that Leo will interact with (unless they find Lucas behind a rock somewhere).

Olivia already forgave Ava to some degree; there was a scene at the Metro Court a while back where she told Ava she could come by any time to see Leo; the show just didn’t follow up on that. I don’t even remember Olivia finding out that it was Ava who killed Connie. Regardless, she did give her an open invitation. But what do we expect from a show that barely showed Ava with Avery for nine years; Avery’s entire appearances were with Carly. I had to FF…

And as said, Leo and Avery are cousins so they should have some relationship. On another note, Ava and Nina never mention that Nina’s daughters, Nelle and Willow were half sisters to Ava’s daughter, Kiki. They’re all so intertwined…

Aren’t Jake and Johnny brothers, seeing as how Jason is their dad?

You mean Danny. Yes; Jake and Danny are half brothers! I don’t think that we’ve ever seen them together or even mentioned as brothers!

I think they had a sleepover at Jason’s once after he got his own apartment

Continues to irk me that Silas Clay has three bio children. More than legacy characters Alan or Ned Quartermaine, Robert or Mac Scorpio, Steve Hardy and Lee Baldwin.

Every family dynamic is different. Cousins often are not close (i.e. I haven’t seen any cousins in over 25 years).

Soap relations are funny. If Sam & Dante get married she’ll be both Leo’s sister and sister-in-law.

Sam would also be Kristina’s sister & sister-in-law. Though Kristina isn’t related to Leo, of course.

Which actually makes it weirder…. a couple has two siblings in common, yet those siblings aren’t related to each other.

And that doesn’t even bring into the fact that Sam has also been with Dante’s father and his uncle Ric. Had Sam’s baby with Sonny survived, she would have been Dante’s little sister. And would now have to be recast with a 60 year old so she could be older than Molly.

And Kristina and Molly are 1/2 sisters and 1st cousins

@OG Steve You can look it up on youtube; not allowed to post links here. In 2022, Ned and Leo show up at the MetroCourt and Ava’s with Olivia. Leo calls her Aunt Ava and told her what a great time he had at a showing she had at her art gallery. All very friendly…

Well, that sure sounded like Monica today on the phone with Olivia, though I have to say it must have been recorded and she sounded infirm.

Most of us will gladly take any audio appearance from Leslie Charleson. I’d settle for Tracy telling someone it’s her house and her inner voice (Monica) says “it’s my house, Alan gave to me.” Tracy will of course reply out loud “because he was an idiot”.

Not me; it’s getting on my nerves. The woman has been off the show for a 1 and 1/2 years. Never mentioned except one of these fake-sounding phone calls at Epiphany’s memorial. She just vanished and the show couldn’t be bothered to address it. Then Tracy comes back and has a fake phone call with her and then we get some precorded robocall saying “I know I’ve been gone a week.” LOLOLOLOLOL! Noooooo. With that said, maybe she’ll be making an appearance for half a second now that she’s been mentioned a few times.

I’m not one for replacing legacy characters but at this point I’d welcome it. There are too few Quartermaines left and I think it would be nice to have Monica, any Monica, in scenes. Bring back Dillon and Skye (with Lila Rae). Fill that house up with actual Quartermaines again.

Actual Quartermaines? Skye and Lila Rae are as much interlopers as you claim Drew or Michael to be. Alan “adopted” Skye when she was 40? While it may be nice to have Lila Rae around – what age do they make her? If she’s a teen, pairing her with the never seen Rocco would give us an Alcazar-Corinthos pairing.

Absolute yes to Dillon returning – but played by someone a lot more dynamic that RPW.

Finally, you don’t recast someone who has played the same character for 45 years. Is it awkward that Monica is not on screen, yes. Had Frank known in Feb 2022 that LC would possibly not return, it would’ve been addressed in story. For now, just grin and bear it. After 45 years, if LC wants to literally call it in, that’s fine.

Lila Rae might already be in town. Does anybody believe the new fake nanny’s name is really “Betty Rutherford”.

She looks like an Alcazar to me. A SORASed Lila Rae is one possibility. The other possibility could be Sage Alcazar escaped from Hell. Guess I better ask around to see if we had another security breach.

She also has a vague resemblance to Brenda. Now you might recall that the first time we ever heard the name “Alcazar” it was Lorenzo’s twin brother Luis who came to Port Charles holding a drugged up (and then presumed dead) Brenda as hostage. There was never a mention of them having a child, but Brenda was so out of it on drugs initially that it could always be written that she had a child with Luis Alcazar, he put the kid up for adoption, or had other family members raise the child.

There’s also another option with Brenda… my Fuzzy Devil Memory seems to think she might have been pregnant with Jax’s child when her mother drove her off that cliff 4 years prior to her return with Alcazar 1.0. Alcazar definitely would have put that kid up for adoption.

Now of course, Josslyn already can’t stand “Betty”, so it would be typical soap writing if they turned out to be half sisters. Of course the only thing that makes this scenario unlikely is that it would make no sense to give Jax another kid when odds are we will never see him again. And only slightly better odds that we will see Brenda. But then… Duke Lavery’s son showed up after his last death, so you never know.

I like the Betty = Lila Rae, except that would have her and Austin share common relatives (not by blood).

Security Breach, lol!

Betty looks so freaking familiar to me; every time she’s on I’m trying to figure out who she looks like. I thinks she’s a cross between “Brenda” and “Hayden.” Emily? I don’t know who she looks like but it’s driving me nutz.

I consider Skye much more a Quartermaine because she was in stories when there were actual Quartermaines; she has history with the family: with AJ, Monica, Alan.

Michael is and always will be a Corinthos; he won’t even change his last name and lives in “Monica’s house” with the last name of the man who killed her son, and has passed on that name to AJ’s grandkids. As for Drew? He still goes by the last name of Cain and he’s also way more involved with Carly and her “clan” more than anything Quartermaine. Both Michael and Drew add nothing to the Quartermaine family, nor does Olivia.

I’d of course like AJ to come back from the dead (again), Dillon, Skye as I mentioned, Tracy (which is a given), and have more Ned. And I actually would rather Ned had married Alexis or Lucy. They both are argumentative yet snarky/funny, and both have history with the Quartermaines. I think they would have had more of the essence and feel of the family. The humor, the familiarity. What we have now in no way resembles the Quartermaines; not the characters and not the way they’re being written. And then to make it more unbearable, they throw Carly into most of their scenes, and have her connected through Michael AND Drew, and now the grandkids.

For me, recasting Monica at this point can and should be done. She’s been gone long enough that if they got a really good actress in her early 70s it could work (as far as I’m concerned, if she was likable and able to give off the Monica vibe). Of course it wouldn’t be the same, but we got used to quite a few vets being replaced. It’s worth a shot. I’d rather that than them kill her off. I guess they could say she’s moving to Europe to live near Tracy…but I’d rather them give a recast a shot.

What other vets have been replaced? Jeff’s brief appearance non withstanding since he hadn’t been on canvas for 40 years. Only other one that comes to mind is Mike Corbin, but Ron Hale hadn’t been on screen for over 10 years. Nobody with a 45 year tenure has ever been replaced.

Where the hell is Daniel E. Morgan at? Why you don’t show him?

Who?

Yes very much

He’s Jason Morgan’s son. (Steve Burton)

I love how the young man is also actually looking like Jason’s son. And someone said Cameron should be ready for a break when school is just starting… but I agree with her sons growing up onscreen, not off and shooting up and lol about Molly already going through menopause. It is really hard to watch this actress play Molly.

Yes excited

Hi my name is Shelly Tuttle I think it is good to see all the faces again way back in my childhood .I all my life been watching all of the sopara and still watching it

Sure why not.

just bring back Todd Manning, stop wasting RH talents

Bring back Todd Manning, stop wasting RH’s talent…..that’s the perfect character

Rumor is they were trying to bring back Todd when they killed off Frodd, but Di$ney said “no” because it was in the middle of the “Me Too” media frenzy, and they couldn’t justify bring a gang rapist back to the airwaves.

Worst thing about attempting to bring him on in 2012 wasn’t even so much the Todd character himself, but the fact that they immediately forced him in between Sonny & Carly, and through his baby switch collaboration with Crazy Heather, also drove a wedge between Jason & Sam.

Even worse than that was the baggage he dragged with him from OLTL…. especially the whiny little untalented baggage. And the fact that they literally dropped a steel beam on the head of the only real girlfriend Michael ever had AND killed off Robin Scorpio (at least temporarily) so they could force that little twit on to the screen.

KMc had announced she was not going to renew her contact. Garin Wolf’s plan was for Robin’s meds to stop working and have her succumb to AIDS (as dead-dead as it gets in soaps). Once Frank & Ron were announced as EP & HW, they immediately switched gears and the lab explosion storyline kicked in. Not long after, Robin was revealed to the audience to be alive.

The saccharine Robin replacement was Sabrina – not Starr. Wasn’t it Wolf who killed off Abby? Sabrina eventually met her maker at the hands of Paul Hornsby – one of the worst character assassinations the show has seen (next to Rick Webber).

They made a point of bringing on whiny little Starr twit the same day as the lab explosion. The implication from Frank & ReRon was “Hey, we’re the OLTL regime and we’re taking over. Sorry for killing off the legacy kid you watched grow up since she was 5 years old, but hey, here’s our sad imitation of that… hope you like her”. Which of course we didn’t, but almost immediately, they threw her at Michael. Garin Wolf might have still held the “interrim head writer” title at the time Abby got hit in the head, but I remember reading at the time that ReRon’s writing had already entered the mix before the regime officially took over in February 2012, so it’s more than likely he wanted to clear the way for StarrTwit to be in Mikey’s orbit instantly.

I was no fan of CinderBrina either, but she came in a little bit later. And she was ridiculous both with Patrick and Michael. As far as Paul Hornsby goes… he was always somewhat shady…. the first time around he was involved with the Faison/Leopold Taub cartel thing, wasn’t he? But yes, it was a bit of a leap from that to a serial killer.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
