Ilene Kristen's General Hospital Appearance Starts Monday! Have You Guessed Who She Plays?

GH head writer Ron Carlivati, continues his ode to history and weaving in characters from ABC Daytime iconic shows this coming Monday, when Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Silas (Michael Easton) continue their search for answers to Sam’s daddy!

In the preview clip of next week’s Monday episode of General Hospital, which aired at the end of Friday’s broadcast, daytime fans saw a shot of Ilene Kristen holding up some coffee saying, “At your service”,  while Sam and Silas were, from the looks of it, at a coffee shop … or is it?  Is it a bar?  Where are they?

Since IleneKristen had made her mark with such incredible indelible performances as the original Delia Reid Ryan Coleridge (and there were more married names and repeats in there) on Ryan’s Hope, and Roxy Balsom on One Life to Live, bets are its one of them!

Watch the preview after the jump! Who will Ilene play?  Are you excited to see her back on your screens Monday?  Let us know!

Ilene Kristen will be playing her “Ryan’s Hope” character Delia Ryan on GH next Monday, d’uh!

Well if she is playing one of her characters from another show…obviously it can’t be from OLTL. So Roxy is out. And if it’s an irish bar…she’ll obviously be Delia.

Nice way for Ron to get another OLTL fan favorite on to GH!

But Delia hair was more straight. Roxy’s was more like what she is wearing there but yes she will be Delia probably. Too bad there isn’t any Ryans

On another note…Jackie Zeman, aka Bobbie Spencer is heading back to GH!

It’s got to be Delia. The character of Roxy is still owned by Prospect Park, the shames as the Llanview 3. They can’t even mention OLTL characters on GH. Didn’t you catch this week when Heather was telling Franco about her former boss firing Diane and making her the gossip columnist? She was about to mention his name (Todd) and Franco stopped her saying he didn’t care. These shoutouts make me happy and sad at the same time. They make me miss OLTL even more. 🙁

I noticed that too, Liz!! I love the “digs” they are doing! I hope Ilene is on more than one episode. I would to see her in scenes with Tony Geary. Remember, when she was on RH, she played opposite Ron Hale (now Sonny’s dad, Mike). I just had a thought. Did they kill off Mike?

I am guessing she will be playing Ava’s Mommy Dearest!!!

MY guess too… Debbie!!!

I agree with Debbie…Ava’s mom…

Why? She killed Connie and I believe that Sonnie will avenge Connie’s death.

Well since they are going to a bar called Ryan’s– I imagine she is playing the character from Ryan’s Hope– possibly that character will be also be Ava’s Jerome’s mother– the mistress of Vic Jerome —Lucy mentioned—- or will know who she is at the very least.

Sounds right to me…Vics mistress, and Ava’s mummy!!!

Im also glad shes not being called Esmerelda…lol

Remember the Paris Texas cafe on oltl? Maybe this should be a Ryan’s pub in an alternate past life? I want Aunt Ruby to have a long-ago forgotten daughter played by Kim Zimmer or someone else soaps desperately miss.

Can’t wait to see Ilene!

and Jackie Z too!

Ilene Kristen is one of the BEST EVER in daytime and anytime! To not exploit this woman’s talents is a sin. She should be hired by GH full time!!

I couldn’t agree more! She is fantastic…thanks to the GH writers for realizing this amazing talent and giving us loyal viewers such a treat!

This is awesome storytelling. If I can remember correctly, Delia was a fine mess. Getting into everything. With her being on the show, she could wreck a fine havoc on the people of Port Charles and still make them feel sorry for her. She was like the Heather Webber of Ryan’s Hope. It’s endless……the mentioning of Loving and now Ryan’s Hope could open up many possibilities. Im still hoping for an appearance of Gwenyth Alden to the show and for her to be Alexis’ mother. As I mentioned, Corinth could have been the town Obrecht and Faison was experimenting in.

I would love to see her & Heather work together.

DITTO!!!! That will be awesome..Comedic relief at its best!!!!

Coincidentally, GH’s “Heather,” Robin Mattson, also portrayed the character of Delia during one of Ilene’s absences! Not to mention that one of her many husbands, Dr. Roger Coleridge, was played by the same actor (Ron Hale) who was more recently known as Sonny’s gambling father, Mike. Small world, indeed!

what a coincident

She can’t be Alexis’ mother because she was killed by Helena. But Ilene would make a perfect addition as Delia – she would be the new comic relief.

I love her!!Hope she stays on GH long term!

Love, love LOVE her. Put her on contract!!!

We know she isn’t playing Roxy because Prospect Park owns that character.

Yes!!! I knew it the minute I heard about a bar named Ryan in NY…Yay!!!!!!!! I hope Delia stays she is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Job Ron!!!

OH THANK GOD! I have been missing Ilene Kristen for 2 years. And, a reason to tune in to GH for at least one day.

One of the best character actors in daytime history, she ranks at the top with greats like Constance Ford and Irene Dailey. GH would be very lucky to have her.

Aaah. Ada, Liz and Delia. Three of the greatest dames on daytime.

Awesome!!
Roxy !! in another roll; great actress…

I love GH it is fun !!!

I love GH it is thrills and suspense !!!

I love GH it’s humor !!!

I love the hard hitting stories and the great actors !!! All the ”history” brought back along with the vets !!!

I loved seeing Heather and the humor she brings with her !!!

GH is pure soap !! BRAVO !!!

They need to get Ron Hale back onboard as Mike as soon as possible. It would be great to see Delia’s reaction to him, since he used to play Roger Coleridge back in the day.

That would be awesome. Loved Roger and Delia!

I agree Debbie…maybe they will bring him back

I was hoping she is reprising the role of Delia but I think it’s possible she is playing Ava’s mother who happens to be a waitress at Ryan’s. There is a problem with my theory Ava would have been conceived around the time teenage Delia use to hang around the Ryan teens. I think the Ryans would have notice someone who look like she can be Delia’s slighty older identical sister or slightly older look a like Aunt. Lucy said Victor met the woman in a bar but I remember them also serving food,so they would have been a Tavern.

I think she will be coming back as Rose Kelley.

If they do have her in a scene with Heather Webber, then we’ll see Ilene working with one of her temporary replacements in the role of Delia, since Robin Mattson played that character for a short time.

LOTS of retconning will need to be done for those of us who remember Ryan’s Hope. For her to be Ava’s mother puts her in a timeline of having a baby at the same time she was obsessed with either Frank Ryan or his brother Pat. T

Timelines? On Soaps? The AgeProgression and other tools of soaps make it absolutely possible. And she just told the tale of how she gave Vic’s baby away, and then she married Frank Ryan and that was that.

So, in Delia’s words “That was that” Now, I’d love to see Maeve come out from behind the bar and in her brogue ask Delia Dear to stop bothering the customers and get back to work.

I would like to say I truly love what Frank and Ron have done with GH. They not only respect the past of the show but they show great respect and remembrance for the daytime dramas of ABC’s past. I have fond memories of watching ABC soaps in the summers of High school vacations and College days where my semesters schedules had openings. I sadly read on another forum that there will be no chance of them using any mentions to Edge of night because it is not owned by ABC.

maybe she will be playing Olivia Jerome

OMG, what if Delia Ryan is Ava’s mother? Lucy already established that Victor Jerome met his mistress at Ryan’s and we know he had a thing for kooky dames. Even if this is just a one-off appearance I am beyond thrilled to have a peak at Ryan’s Hope again!

Ilene hopefully will be Delia Reid Ryan Ryan Colderidge. Did she marry Roger? Anyway, did anyone else hear “Ryan’s” bar in NYC mentioned on GH? I hope it is Delia. Love Roxy, but Ilene’s Delia character has more emotion, depth and vulnerability. Roxy is cute, but doesn’t have enough meat for this very talented actress to show us what she’s got. Go to You Tube and watch “Ryan’s Hope”. You’ll see what I mean. On a different note, I have met and talked to this beautiful actress at various charity events in NYC. She is simply amazing to her fans, and always takes time to sit and talk with you. Even the year that OLTL was cancelled, Ilene came to the charity event and put her best foot forward to show her fans a good time. General Hospital will give her a nice long contract as soon as they see how much she is loved by her fans. Love ya Ilene!!!

That’s Ryan’s Bar in the background. Remember it well.

The doors to Ryans Bar shouldve been in the back and not on the side unless they supposed to have done renovations over the years but in still good to see a bit of Ryans Hope again…

Like Roxy & would love to see more OLTL stars on GH as Erika Skezak & Robin Strasser. Really want my OLTL back on TV.

As a long time RH fan (it was the first show I ever saw from the very beginning…. Frank falling down a stairway. Who pushed him, was it Delia?) I’m a little annoyed at the timeline with regards to the original show *sigh* but I’ll hand-wave away if it gets Ilene back on my screen again.

Timeline? haaa it’s a soap and soaps have ”soap time”
they always run soap time!
Also, soaps are story telling, fiction stories, not documentaries lol ..

soaps make and have their own ages and time, soaps are not of this real world 🙂

For those of you complaining about timeline for Delia being Ava’s mother, I have the solution.

Delia had Ava after Ryan’s Hope went off the air and then Ava caught SORAS and was aged rapidly. See…easy.

Why worry about timeline when we have kids growing up at fantastic speed. How old is Morgan really? How about Michael?

I like how Frank and Ron have revived other ABC soaps on GH…now we need Sharon Gabet ex Raven from Edge Of Night(which did start on CBS but did move to ABC) and someone from Dark Shadows…

It has to be Delia, and she is Ava’s Mother. I thin k we will only see this character a few times, as Ilene is a NYer and not sure she would relocate, but occasional yes. She is like 24 years older then Maura so it would work. Although Victor must have been tall, as Ava is ; )

They have not established, yet that Ava and Julian are half siblings. But he mentioned his other sister on Friday who has now gone because of him.

Uh. Gweneth Alden is dead. Not only is she dead dead, she was also a serial killer so no chance there on the loving front. Wasn’t most of the loving cast killed off except for Katherine Hickland’s Tess? Now she would be awesome!!

Survivors from Loving at its finale were: Tess Wilder (later OLTL’s Lindsay), Buck Huston, Jacob Foster, Angie Hubbard, Frankie Hubbard, Charles Harrison, Briana Hawkins, Lorraine Hawkins, Ally Rescott Bowman (now GH’s Carly), Kate Slavinsky, Ava Rescott, Alex Masters, Jocelyn Brown (now GH’s Olivia), Danny Roberts (later GH’s Alcazar and OLTL’s Tomas), Steffi Brewster, Cooper Alden, Tyler Alden (Cooper/Ally’s son), Sandy and Alexis Masters (Alex and Ava’s kids), Trisha Alden. From what I remember… The Loving mention seemed so odd, particularly because it was a throwaway and wouldn’t likely have a long-term impact, but also made sense because of Faison’s one-time crossover to Loving.

This Ryan’s Hope connection is AMAZING and I am praying that Delia is made to be Ava Jerome’s mother.

Did Delia have other kids? I believe Ryan’s Hope went off the air a year before I was born, cause Loving launched in 1983, when I was born. I’ve never seen any Ryan’s Hope outside of YouTube clips or old reruns on SoapNet back in the day.

Hi, David…Ryans Hope ended in 1989…

Remember when Sam and Alexis were questioning Lucy about Victor and she said that he used to meet his mistress at an Irish bar near, I think she said, the Brooklyn bridge? I immediately knew they had to be referencing RYAN’S of “Ryan’s Hope” fame. And since Ilene played Delia, I figured it has to be her RH character.

I love that GH is weaving in these little nods to other daytime shows. It’s so nice for those of us who have been long-time fans of the genre! Keep up the good work RC & FV!!!

Mikey, I just tweeted Ron C. that I was hoping Ilene Kristen or another alumni, would reprise the old #RYANSBAR. The psychic powers you have in your 50’s 😉

Avid fan of all soaps!
#registeredsoaper #slipperysoapfan #bubbles2you

So happy to see Ilene Kristen on General Hospital. I loved watching Ryan’s Hope so many years ago. She is an amazing actress and have always loved watching her on soaps. Hope to see alot of her on GH. Thanks for bringing back Delia and keep her around for a long time. P.S. LOVE THE BACKGROUND AND REMEMBER IT WELL. RYAN’S BAR!!!!!!!!!!!

I am happy that Ilene is back on television and hopefully we will see more of her on GH as she is a great actress. I loved her on OLTL as she played such a funny character. I missed her when OLTL made its internet debut.

Brings back so many wonderful memories of watching Ryans Hope with my mama! What an unexpected but fun twist to General Hospital. What a smart move GH writers! Job well done!

This is really straining my memory, but I seem to recall the character of Faison making an appearance on RH after he was “killed” in the boat explosion that also claimed Robert and Anna. He was besot by Delia and it involved a speed boat chase with someone in a gorilla suit ala King Kong. Anyone else remember this?

Nope. The memories are right, but wrong soap and character. It wasn’t Delia, but Ava Rescott on Loving, and I believe it went down on a location shoot to Universal Studios Florida.

Thank you so much. Since Loving took over RH’s time slot in the market I lived in, I can understand my mistake a little better.

Ron is a genius to say the least. Bringing back favorite characters from the past and incorporating them into current shows. It only makes sense that Delia would be Ava’s Mother.

It sure is good seeing Ilene Kristen again, I hope she stays around. Isn’t Delia too young to be Ava’s mother?

I love Ilene Kristen. I hope she becomes a member of the gh cast. Her character Delia, is awesome. She brings a lot of fun and chaos to the storyline. I loved her as Roxy on OLTL and I just love her now on gh.

I love Ilene Kristen and I have played yesterdays GH so many times to hear her sing Danny Boy. It was so beautifully done. Please keep her on GH. I loved her as Roxy and she adds such a great touch to GH. Eve

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

on

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

on

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

Photo: ABC

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
