On The Young and the Restless, it’s never easy to come into an existing soap opera and be a new on-screen family that no one had heard of before.  When Jordi Vilasuso came over to the top-rated soap opera to play the newly created role of Rey Rosales, the series, under then EP and head writer, Mal Young, also had plans to add to expand the Rosales family.  Enter Rey’s-screen brother, wife, and sister.

But as previously reported, two Rosales’ are exiting the series, and now Jason Canela (Arturo) and Noemi Gonzalez (Mia) have officially wrapped their runs and taped their final scenes as of this past Friday.

According to a post on his Instagram, Vilasuso shared: “Feel blessed to have had @jasoncanela and @iamnoemigonzalez become like family to me. My heart broke today as they filmed their last scenes and are moving along in their journey. They have inspired me beyond belief and I’m SO GRATEFUL to not only have worked with them but also to have grown with them. Here’s to my Rosales familia!”

Sasha Calle (Lola) who remains with the series posted in response to Vilasuso: “I gotta say, today was a tear fest indeed. So grateful to you all.  I love you.”

Jason Canela responded by adding: ‘I’m forever grateful to be blessed enough to meet such incredible people and will forever consider everyone who makes up part of The Young and the Restless team a part of my family. You are my bro for life playaa.”

Share your thoughts on the sentiments shared by Jordi, Sasha and Jason.  Then let us know, how do you think Arturo and Mia will leave the Genoa City canvas? Comment below.

I thought they brought pleasant change to Y&R I hate to see them leave some of the actors from way back should leave it gets old and stale

Agree 100%!!
You could feel the love and tension between the family. Love the agression and annoyance they felt towards Mia, the only always trying to fit in. She was such a firecracker
I hope when the writers fix what needs they can bring them back for Abby and Rey
It looked like Genoa city finally had a full fleshed out new family to intermingle with the rich. Alas no such luck and more incest between the Newmans and Abbotts.
Will totally miss Arturo and Mia.
Such a shame the new writers have no vision besides the same recycled character arcs
Love Jason and Noemi!!!!

I agree. I thought at one point Phyllis and Mia were going to form some kind of friendship/alliance since they both know what it’s like to be a bitch/outcast at times. I did enjoy that scene when Phyllis was still at Jabot and they had their chat and Mia broke down and they hugged afterward.. Like I had said at one other time, although I was never really Summer fan. and I didn’t like this Kyle when he first came on, I am enjoying this triangle. Kyle is playing it beautifully, I think. And I really feel bad for him. Not that I am condoning how he used and sail is using Summer, but I kind of feel bad for the mess he has gotten himself into. I am hoping that he goes back to Lola. I am wondering how this little scenario is going to play out. I have a feeling he really starting to fall for Summer as well. The question is, who is the one who is going to get hurt. I am hoping he goes back to Lola. And on a side note, I am loving the pairing of Sharon and Rey. I just wonder how long it will last before she winds up back with Sharon. They should have kept the Rosales’s and have sent Tessa pacing instead. To me she is the most useless one on the whole show. I guess we’ll have to wait and see

I meant to say back with Nick. Sorry for the typos. I guess I really do need to wear my glasses when I do this

I was never a Summer nor a Kyle fan. Now I find the circumstance fascinating. Even find the chemistry changing. This is great potential story.

Summer seems delusional now–are the writers going to have Kyle break her heart thereby causing Summer to go off the deep end? This would be Kyle repeating his father’s history because Jack cheated on his wife Patty Cakes which made her fly over the cuckoo’s nest.
I love Kyle with Lola–they are Romeo and Juliet meets Jenny and Greg. They are star crossed lovers. Lola loves Kyle but feels gratitude toward Summer for giving her a slice of her liver. Lola could make it up to Summer by naming a dish after her and putting it on the menu. The Summer Special would be Liver and Onions! So cheer up, Snowflake, you didn’t lose a husband you gained a special named after you!!

Harry
This is to me a crazy SL. Though Summer got Kyle to marry her, by offering up her liver for Lola, she acts betrayed whenever he looks in her direction, or whatever. She acts like they are a newlywed couple in love, practically forcing him to have sex with her, and to me is in complete denial. You reminded us of Patty and Jack, reminiscent of what’s happening now. Patty shot Jack, didn’t she? I wonder if the gift of the knife to Lola, is foreshadowing? It would be very distinguishable, even has her initials on it.

Hi Harry — don’t know how to respond to your comments. Not thinking Romeo and Juliet; perhaps another. Thinking Summer may have blackmailed Kyle into the marriage; they have a history. I like Lola; she is young, inexperienced.

The interim, twixt now an then, has potential for understandable human struggles. I want to see this. I hope writers take that on.

No unkind thoughts sent here. Just interest in how one sees things.

Thank you!

Love your comment, Tani. This storyline may very well be a testament to human struggles, albeit Summer’s persona is unrecognizable.
Summer may be delusional in thinking that Kyle is going through a Lola-phase and will snap out of it. She has her work cut out for herself.
By the same token, Summer may be correct in assuming that the longer they stay married, the more Kyle will come to acknowledge the fact that he still loves her and always has.
I’d like to see this develop, as well. A few hearts will be broken.
❤️

The real struggle is between two head writers–Mal Young wrote Summer as a morally corrupt shrew while the new head writer sees her as being a vulnerable, delusional, and fragile snowflake. The writing lately for this soap opera triangle has been wonky to say the least. Either way, Summer comes off as someone who has been so spoiled, so self-entitled that she can’t recognize it when she really isn’t getting what she wants. You can’t force the heart to feel what it doesn’t feel. The triangle was better with Mal Young I think. And yes Tanis, Kyle and Lola were originally star crossed lovers–that was kind of obvious. However, the new writers are in damage control mode and everything is a bit off kilter. Even Lola is no longer acting like Lola.

Absolutely, Harry. One cannot make another feel what the heart does not….
You don’t think Kyle has dormant feelings for Summer? He has loved her for as long as I can remember…. he’s no saint and neither is she–two peas in a pod, actually. Will he tire of Lola?
Yet, I do feel that Kyle has done a lot of growing up, and as a ‘new’, better man, he has found his soul mate in Lola, whom I love!!
At the same time, I agree with Timmm’s description of Lola, as well. She always gave the impression of constantly complaining about Kyle’s status in life. She sort of begrudged him for it. Will it continue? Will she become a virago?
I was never a fan of Summer–entitled little brat—as an adult, she was even worse–until now. I have been doing continuous double-takes. Who is she? She may be flirting with quicksand—I’d like to see this through, though. Thus, if Kyle can change, why can she not??
Scuttlebutt has Kyle asking Summer for a divorce—I doubt it will be an easy feat for him.
❤️

I think you may be right, Soapqueenforever….I feel the same way.
After all his layers are stripped to the core, Kyle will realize he truly loves Summer. I had commented on the fact that Lola is ‘different’–not the high-society type, which could be both a distraction and an attraction for Kyle….not really shocked, as it does happen.
What is most striking to me is Summer’s personality change. Where’s the spoiled brat ? Where has she gone? I see a transformation a’comin’. TPTB are making a victim out of Summer–pity-party, begging for sympathy.
Lola will become the “other” woman—-Summer the poor, poor wifey who has been wronged. Irony bites.

Hi Celia 🙂
Awww Summer is a Snowflake, as always.
She is desperate to be loved nonetheless – any woman witnessing her husband doing what Kyle is doing and telling herself it’s all ok for him to do so, bwa he’d be put to the curb yesterday by any sane woman..

Summer needs to crawl into bed with Partick, again-
I’d like to see the two doing the soap nasty for a good laugh, 0ooh sheeshhh

The Y&R, all couples, have a lot to be desired-
Not one of them is intriguing/interesting.

Yeah, well, Celia, the new writers (who are actually the old writers) love Summer. Mal Young had Summer having wild affairs with married men, stealing their cars and making seductive plays towards her mother’s boyfriend. Now we are enduring damage control. That said, I think Summer is being incredibly manipulative in being so kind to both Kyle and Lola. Keep your enemies close and all that jazz. Kyle always looks so disappointed when Summer fails to go into a full blown rage when discovering yet again, that yes, Kyle adores Lola. He could easily leave her if she would just revert back to type. Summer is her mother’s daughter and a master manipulator. However, she also seems to be in a state of delusion and I am thinking Summer will be to Kyle what Patty Cakes Williams was to his father, Jack Abbot. Summer is acting delusional.

Mia, was a dahamned good character!
Things will be mellow/calm without her.

Arturo, I liked him 100 times better than Rey.
I could kiss Arturo but ISHH not Rey, I could not kiss Rey, nope. Every time Sharon kisses Rey I gag ..

I liked the Rosales familia, it was something different for a change.

Mia and Arturo will soon be forgotten now that Adam is returning and Phyllis/MS is returning.

Ahhhh, Suzie Q……are you, perchance, fantasizing kissing soapland men? Uuuuuu–naughty girl!! Actually, I wouldn’t mind nibling Ryan Paevey’s neck! Ha!! Shhhh!! I’m married!!
Arturo and Rey make me gag. Nick is hunky, but I wouldn’t want to kiss him….no one really attracts me—I think I’ll stick to my gorgeous hubby!! LOL. All these guys can’t hold a candle to him. For real!! LOL.
Speaking of Stafford? How do you feel about her return?
I am jumping up and down and doing somersaults….

hiiiii Celia!
All the men of Y&R are Senior Citizens, and its called the ‘young’ and the restless yah sure..
The other men- that are under 40, are nothing I’d take home, no matter how high I was, nope!..

If forced to pick one it’d have to be Kyle at the least he’s
Word= Libido !
(not getting discounts from AARP bwahaaa!!

OMG—you crack me up, SuzieQ.
Even Kyle does nothing for me—I’m too picky. Perhaps I should stop being so shallow and stop looking for a pefect face and body!! I loooove broad shoulders on a guy!!
I’m a lucky girl…..I can’t wait for those AARP discounts. Good stuff!! By the time we are eligible, there won’t be any money left in the US coffers, su!!
So, start saving now!! Bwahaaa–right back atcha!!❤️❤️

Hey, SusieQ–PS—I had a thought: yes, I can think, LOL.
Methinks Victor knows where Adam is….Could Adam be the one seeing the psychiatrist, and not Victor? Hmmmm!!

Celia 🙂
I think Victor came across Adam in Vegas and Adam didn’t know he was Adam- an amnesia story..
Victor is trying to have his memory restored..

Arturo was the first Rosales not Rey

Yeah, I caught that too!

He was indeed! I hope they change their minds–the actor is good and the character is realistic. Like Suoo said, I like him better than Rey.

For me I never liked the character of Arturo, Mia was another story loved her sassy role. You loved to hate her. She is also physically beautiful I believe she will do well in the future.
I do like Rey, however Lola is not my cup of tea. My opinion she is way overrated. I know many fans like her, good for her.

Karen, I first hated Mia but then she started to amuse the heck out me. She’s a throwback to Opal Gardener from AMC. Like Opal, Mia is tacky, pushy and annoying. Mia was hilarious sitting at the stuffy Abbott family table with a cocktail dress fitting her like sausage casing and her girls spilling all over the Jabot encrusted China. Maybe TPTB should slow down and give the Rosales family a chance. Yes, they were introduced too swiftly and clumsily, but I’d like to see them get their footing. It seems these two actors were getting better and making these roles their own.

I wish Jordi would leave.

SASHA (Lola)should also be taken out of Y&R. She is a very boring actress, I hate watching her that when she comes on I fast forward. Love my DVR.

Love Lola. There’s no accounting for taste!

BUH-BYE, & take the rest of the clan with you!

Actually sorry to see them all leave but there’s so much money in the budget. Hated Mia which means she was good at her job and loved Artero too.

JUST GO AWAY ALREADY!! YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED!!

What a disappointment. Yes, this will appease fans who just want to watch the same 15 characters endlessly repeat their stories. But for a lot of us newer, younger viewers, this new and interesting family was a huge breath of fresh air on a very tired show.

Everything does not come down to age. I have been watching this show since the first year and I liked the freshness and diversity of the Rosales family. There are a lot of viewers who are new and young who have written not so nice remarks regarding the Rosales family. Age and length of viewership is not an indication of acceptance.

I agree to a certain extend, Katherine. I love fresh faces, young or old– I appreciate new storylines to go along with said, fresh characters.
However, I think the problem with the Rosaleses was the hurricane-kind of way they descending upon us, without a breather.
And, if that weren’t enough; we saw them every minute of every day….Arturo, especially was not looked upon in a positive light, as he seemed to be using Nikki because of her name. That turned most viewers off immediately. Then, there’s Rey, who obstructed justice to save Mia.
I love Lola and I hope she remains…Yet, her position is very tenuous. I still feel Kyle cares for Summer more than he knows or able to admit. Lola is “different”–a passing fancy. I suspect she will try to bend him her way—so typical of many women. She will start complaining about his “haute vie”……and, he, her lack of high society etiquette, in which is so inherently Abbott. It’ll be great for a while….the novelty of it all. If I’m wrong, I’ll eat the daisies about to bloom in my garden.
Lastly, today Kyle said to Lola, ” Nothing will keep us from being together” (paraphrasing). Well, nothing except Summer’s potential pregnancy”.

Extent–oops

Rey was not the first Rosales to appear. It was Arturo, who showed up as the construction supervisor for the housing project Nick started with Nikki and then wound up sleeping with Nikki.

I have mixed feelings about the Rosales family. On the one hand, Y&R really needs to bring on some new (NOT wealthy) characters. This was a good idea. On the other hand, the manner in which this clan was brought to the show is a prime example of how NOT to do it. The entire group suddenly appeared within a 3 month period and were seen practically every day thereafter. It was too much, too soon. It was foolish to make them so central so fast — How were we suppose to care about the love triangle between Mia and the two brothers when we hardly knew anything about them. Just as jarring as their introduction was the abrupt shift away from established characters — Doug Davidson is taking off of contract, disappears with no explanation and Rey is suddenly in his job; Victor barely appears; and Eileen Davidson (coincidentally or not) quickly decides to leave the show.

Due to the poor execution of their introduction, the Rosales family is a lost cause. I bet all of them are gone before Christmas. Maybe the new writers can try again but hopefully in a better approach then what was used for this crew.

Do not blame this family for the downfall of y&r they can bring back all the oldies but the show still stinks ! You have had how many writers since bell died ? Put a fork in it it is done

Your attacks on these actors is not fair they were hired to do a storyline it did not work out so now jg has decided ok let’s bribg back everybody over 65 to have lead story good luck with that!

That’s how I feel, too, Kay. We finally had some interesting characters who were actually “young” and “restless” but, hey, let’s go back to watching the same senior citizens over and over. Sigh.

Many actors were put on recurring it happens DD got on Twitter and made a ass out of himself it backfired he is back that’s fine but at his age no connections to anybody anymore he will not lead story he is Luke our government they seem to think they are entitled to a job forever

Kay what you say is true, however, Paul disappeared from the canvas with nary an explanation. It was odd and badly written.

Barbara. You summed it up
Perfectly. Now maybe the Rosales family can exit stage right and renter stage left. The writers and directors can do it right this time.

You know what do not wish Rey gone I think he is great with SC it is taking some time but they have grown on me let Stafford have her way pair her with Nick he is a worthless actor anyway so good luck ! We need new blood so stick it out ! My only complaint is did Sharon’s mother fall in a ditch ? Have not seen her since 2009

WOW – “thank you” for the truth.

^^^ Nick he is a worthless actor anyway.

Sharon Case has always had the chops to mingle with ; ALL of the cast. whereas, Nick is stuck with his parents. how lame is that… after all these years.. what WOMAN would put up with that ?

I see the same thing with Rey AND Sharon… just give it time.. and have hopes that Josh Griffith WILL give this couple a chance.

it’s already disappointing enough that Y&R have chosen to retread backtrack and NOT give Peter Bergman NEW OPPORTUNITIES to stretch his chop. pairing him back up with RED… ????

even with Phyllis , it’d be a waste to pair her back up with Nicholas.. but she’s the only actor who truly does work with him.

Sharon Case MUST be better utilized.. she is worth more than being a Newman lackey
