Jane Elliot Will Return to General Hospital

Earlier this week on General Hospital, viewers were upset to find out that Jane Elliot’s current run on the ABC daytime drama series had come to an end, when Tracy announced she was leaving Port Charles for Amsterdam.

In story, Tracy was heading back to Europe to tend to Luke’s affair and meeting with Luke’s sister, Bobbie to help her get through the emotional ordeal.

However, on Friday, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that while “Tracy will be off-screen during her trip, her absence from the canvas will be short-lived.”

Photo: ABC

That would also make sense given that Lois (Rena Sofer) told Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), that she should take Tracy’s offer up to run Deception and that she would help her fend off any interferences from Tracy and others.

Elliot is a Daytime Emmy-winning actress and enduring fan favorite with General Hospital fans.  he has played the role of Tracy Quartermaine numerous times over the years including in: 1978–1980, 1989–1993, 1996, 2003–2017, 2019–2021, and now in 2023.

Many GH viewers are wondering if Tracy’s exit might also pave the way with how to wrap up the character of Bobbie Spencer’s story, since her portraying Jackie Zeman passed away this past May, and the soap opera has yet to deal with it on-air.

So, glad to know there is more Tracy “Q” on the way after Jane Elliot’s short break on General Hospital? Comment below.

Happy to hear this news.
Tracy lights a much needed fire in all the other cast mates she shares scenes with. They have to be on the top of their game with this fabulous actress.

She is a great actress but she always causes problems. At time she is just too snarky. Glad she’s coming back but hope they tone her down a little. Stop being such a know it all bully

Tracy is Tracy; one of the few REAL Quartermaines left. They’ve already watered her down; she used to be way harsher but always a great character. Are you a new viewer? Serious question. Because if you knew Tracy for decades, you’d know she’s not as “snarky” as she could be and used to be. And when she is, she’s always hilarious. So glad she’s coming back! I missed her!

I Agree with you

That wouldn’t be Tracy though.

I agree wholeheartedly!

This version of Tracy is more comedic and that occurred when she was linked with Like, so in a sense it humbled Tracy.

Tracy could go there if needed and I hope Frank takes her there just for a moment.

She’s carrying a heavy LEGACY on her back and is doing a fantastic job keeping it alive.

Tracy in a sense is the last true Quartermaine standing.

I been watching from day one. Tracy alway been a tough lady. But she ease down alittle. But like Sher said is true. If your a new . Then you haven’t see her in action. She a very good actress. I’m 73 now and I still watch it. Love it and Tracy.

Cannot wait for her return. She should be in every scene

No she shouldn’t be in every scene. There areNy good actors in the g h cast and the writers need to use them properly.

I agree; love her! I’m so happy that she’s come out of retirement. I hope she’s going to remain. What I’d really love is for them to bring AJ back from the dead (again, and keep him alive this time!), and maybe even Skye, and fill up the Q house with actual Quartermaines again. They should bring back Dillon, too.

Sadly, AJ is dead-dead as long as Frank is around. The ghostly walk up the staircase locked that in.

With Tracy around, it’s the perfect time to bring in a new Dillon. Pair him Maxie?

Sorry, I’ll disagree again – Skye isn’t an “actual Quartermaine”. She’d fall into the “interloper and hangers on” category even if Edward and Alan had a soft spot for her.

Funniest part about the “up the stairs” scene….

Does anybody REALLY think AJ went that direction? I can promise you, he definitely did not! Though I do think he got a raw deal in the end because ReRon had some personal “beef” with Sean Kanan.

In the end, AJ may have done enough to atone for his previous mistakes. Harmony, however, perished after doing some heinous crimes and should probably not be appearing as a vision to Willow.

Enjoying Rena somers return. Hope she stays

I’m so glad she’ll be back. her leaving was so abrupt!

She Just left the Actress IS Retired. Skye should be brought back Instead! Don’t know Y I care I don’t watch the show Anymore.

Skye is DEFINITELY NEEDED but will Robin Christopher return full time and then, will they give her storylines to make her stay around?

Thank you Michael for speaking the way you have . Jane Elliot is wonderful actress.
Newer viewers should watch Elvis Presley’s 1969 movie “A Change of Habit” Jane Elliot played a nun along side Mary Tyler Moore.

My favorite role was Carrie Todd in Guiding Light (I was a CBS soap fan until ATWT and GL were cancelled – that’s when I switched over to ABC GH)

This is what Wikipedia says Jane thinks about her stint on GL: From 1981 to 1982, Elliot appeared on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light as Carrie Todd, a character who was involved with Ross Marler; Ross learns that Carrie is a murderer and has a split personality. Elliot considers her time as Carrie as one of her favorite roles, saying “the most was asked of me when I was doing that role.”

What??? I’ll have to check this out for sure!

Watched the show as a kid…Fell in love with Tracy (and Jane)… When she stood by and watched as Edward begged her to get his heart meds…spit my lemonade across the room , when someone one touched Tracy’s shoulder, (her reaction was priceless)… and the cam pans back and it’s revealed to be Edward….

I remember watching that scene, where Tracy withheld Edward’s heart med during a heart attack, like it was yesterday ! I was in my first year of college and about fifteen of us would gather to watch gh every afternoon and that scene blew us away !! There was screaming, laughing and plenty of gasps at her viciousness !!! I adore her !!!

Jane Elliot is real, I respect that-

She does not hide her age….

No wigs or dyed hair to black, no 10 lbs of extensions or extreme facelifts, no phony..

She is a beautiful lady 88 yr lady..

Most all aged on soaps over age 60 are phony trying to look 30..

Jane is showing them how ridiculous they are..

I for one could care less if Tracy comes back or not. Her storyline is a waste of airtime for someone else. Let her stay in Amsterdam.Dont mean to be ugly just boring story.

YES!!

Shame on you shes a great actress

It’s just reading as ugly ! Just sayin’ !

You mean like Marlena

Marlena’s secret for staying young? Getting possessed every 25 years or so!

I’m always happy to help, of course.

LOL; Jane’s not 88! She’s 76, and in my opinion can pass for 70. Love her look; sophisticated. She’s kept her figure, her white hair is gleaming and her makeup is gorgeous as is the wardrobe.

Jane Elliot Is not 88yr old she’s is 76, omg, get it right

She is 76 not 88-you have her confused with a different Jane Elliott

She is NOT 88

She’s 76.

I get your point, Su000, but I don’t know whether you’re joking about Elliot’s age or whether that was a typo: she is 76, not 88. She is one hell of an actress! GH is lucky to have her back.

That was not me it was Alexa LOL…I asked Alexa – general hospital soap opera actress Jane Elliot’s age, it said 88 .. I dunno…but I respect her for not forcing herself to look 30 she is natural….

Thanks for your reply, Su000!
Alexa can be so temperamental sometimes…
And you’re absolutely right!

H-e-e-y there, Su, Long time, no hear!
Here’s looking at you, kid.

Couldn’t agree more with everything you said about Jane. I love that she’s chosen to age naturally and gracefully on screen, which is so rare in show business. She’s 76 years old, though. Not 88, lol.

She’s 76. But agreed, she’s an ageless beauty and sharpest actress and wit!

She’s 76 not 88

She is 76, not 88

I completely agree Su000 though Jane is only 76, born in 1947, the same year as my mother.

She’s 78

Check your facts…Jane is 76-years old, NOT 88!

Jane can’t be 88!!!!! Wonderful actress and keeps everyone on their toes when she is in a scene with them. Brook Lynn does a great job in their scenes together. I love her snarky attitude. Much needed in this soap to entertain the masses.

She is 76 years old

most watchable actor on daytime or nighttime even

I’m not a fan of Tracy, but I do love Jane’s portraying of her. I have watched GH since I came into this world in 1981, my mom was placing me in her lap with my bottle. Lol. I’m so glad to hear an original is remaining on the show. I’m a forever gh fan. Mat Bobbie (Jackie jersey girl zeman) (( jersey boy here too!!)) RIP. I was so upset to hear she had passed earlier in May. GH 4EVER!!!!!

I wish Jane were back on contract, but I can understand if she doesn’t want that at this stage of her life. She likes to be able to come and go, and she’s certainly more than earned the right. I’ll take whatever I can get of Tracy on my screen. As OG Steve pointed out in another thread, she’s one of the last of the old guard from the 1970s.

Hoping they’re finally able to address the Jackie Z/Bobbie situation with the regular writers returning. And it definitely seems like this is the start of that. I keep hoping that this talk of Luke will lead to the reveal that he’s really alive, and we might be able to see Tony Geary drop in for Bobbie’s funeral. I still can’t accept that they killed a legendary character like Luke Spencer off screen in a cable car accident. It always felt like that was part of a a bigger story. To this point it hasn’t materialized, but here’s hoping. It wouldn’t seem right if Luke wasn’t there to send off his beloved Barbara Jean.

Hey Dan – thanks for the mention. BTW – Jane has been on contract since her return in April.

While the death of Luke offscreen was awkward, I just don’t see them bringing him back.

When Tracy returns she needs to share scenes with not just Michael and BLQ but her other family member Jake Webber who’s one of her grandnephews played by Hudson West.

Great news! Jane’s portrayal of TQ is nothing short of spectacular! I was thrilled when she returned. Nothing like TQ to shake things up & cause problems. Loved to see TQ hasn’t lost her edge.

I’m a Fan favorite of G H & I do Love Tracy, I’ve been watching the soap for about 40 yrs. She makes the soap even more interesting

Very, very good news about Tracey “Q”. I am pleased that you heard our voice.
Likewise, so relived that the fiasco about Eddie is all over, thank goodness.
Now, please EXPOSE Nina, and send her away; far,far away.

I’m glad she’s gone! We need some happiness in this story, instead of so much tearing people apart!!

I always wondered why Jane’s picture never shows on the intro. Tell her w want to see her beautiful face on it!

I always sell Tracy as this reminder of like a older or younger princess Leia or Carrie Fisher with all her classic theatrics and antics and her way with words and expression I mean imagine now seeing Jane acting something with Harrison Ford

So glad she’s coming back. I missed her Everytime she’d leave. She brings life to GH. She definitely is her father’s daughter. pay her what she wants to keep her. Brook Lynn can control her if she digs deep enough, love love Lois, when her character would stay forever. Her and Tracy are a hoot together. Lol

I’m so happy Jane Elliot is back on GH. It just isn’t the same without Tracy. I love the way she stirs things up, but yet can have a heart felt moment too.

I love Jane Elliot! She is the epitome of a soap opera villain. She is a wonderful actress and the one you love to hate! She has the ability to make her character really believable! Nobody does it better! I’ve watched GH since day 1 of it’s existence and will watch it til the day I die! True Blue Die Hard GH fan!!!

This time, upon her return, let’s add her to the opening photo montage as well! She’s a legacy character and deserves to be there!

It’s time for a photo shoot. Kate Mansi (Kristina) has been on contract for over 6 months and needs to be added as well. Other pics are severely outdated – Maxie and Liesl look so much different.

GENERAL HOSPITAL SPOILERS

Nina (Cynthia Watros) is getting all jittery again, as it appears she has gone back into Jack Brennan’s (Chris McKenna) hospital room and is ready to inject him with another secret dose of the medication to keep him in a paralytic state, after she accidentally jabbed him during his brawl with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). Well, in an additional newly released clip featuring Bennett in his debut episode on Monday, it’s clear that Detective Fitzpatrick is looking into Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Isaiah’s (Sawandi Wilson) altercation at the Metro Court Pool when he says, “What are the chances Ashford talks his way out of an arrest? ‘General Hospital’s’ Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna Deliver the ‘Power Performances of the Week’

Published

on

By

The on-screen father/son combo of General Hospital’s Dante and Rocco Falconeri as portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were part of high emotional stakes scenes on episodes airing May 11-15.

First, Finn Carr’s Rocco is so guilt-ridden and burdened with the secret that he shot WSB director, Ross Cullum that it’s eating him alive. So much so, that he gets into a heated argument with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Rocco feels so badly that Danny’s father was taken from him for parts unknown by the WSB, all because Jason refused to implicate Rocco as the shooter.

In a heartbreaking scene, Rocco shows up at Britt’s door and lets her know he can’t take it anymore and that the secret he is keeping is tearing him apart. The fear is palpable in Rocco’s eyes. Britt calls Rocco a hero for saving her life and Jason’s and he has to remember that. Britt hugs him and promises that he can come talk to her anytime. In that moment, Rocco felt seen and felt safe.

Courtesy/ABC

ROCCO ON THE EDGE

All of the beats mentioned above were played with depth and acting maturity by Finn Carr; that it is so very clear why the writers and the producers are so comfortable giving him the ball in this umbrella story. He steps up to the plate every time and hits it out of the park.

Rocco also overheard his parents fighting over him after Dante figured out that Rocco was responsible for the shooting, and confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins) for withholding the truth from him. As their argument escalated and their relationship was further threatened by the lies, Rocco listened to the whole thing from the outside porch.

Eventually Dante, who had learned the truth by having Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) help him piece together what happened the night Cullum was shot, has a heart to heart with his son. He asks Rocco to tell him in his own words the events that transpired, and promises Rocco, that even though he is the police commissioner, he is going to help him. Rocco goes step by step over how Cullum was about to strike Jason with a weighted-baton and how the gun was loose on the ground and he shot him. Dante says his actions saved Jason and Britt’s life, and that he is going to help his son from here on out. He just wished everyone had come to him sooner, because as the father it’s his job to protect his son, not the other way around.

DANTE COMES TO TERMS

Still later in the week, Dante is visited by Elizabeth, and they discuss how they are going to cover-up any evidence that Rocco was at the hospital the night of the shooting with a hand injury, and that Dante is going to make sure the evidence against Rocco disappears. Something that is a huge disconnect for anyone that knows what a fine and upstanding cop Dante has been through the years, but he is determined to help his son stay safe and to keep him close.

However, Cullum is on the hunt for said evidence, and thinks Danny may have shot him in the back (or does he … and he knows Rocco shot him?). He visits Dante’s office and wants the evidence in the shooting. Meanwhile, bets are we are a few story beats away from Danny learning Rocco shot Cullum.

Throughout all the material given to Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna they rose to the occasion. Finn, getting the opportunity to play the often uptight Rocco on the edge, and Dominic, showing us how he can make us feel what Dante is feeling just by watching the emotion and hurt in his eyes. Therefore, Michael Fairman TV names Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna our picks for the Power Performances of the Week.

Now below, let us know if you agree with our picks of Finn and Dominic as the standout performances of the week, and if so, what moment really tugged on your heartstrings featuring Rocco and/or Dante via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Reflects on His Time with TV Parents Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson

Published

on

By

Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) took some moments to share stories and remembrances of two of the all-time greats of General Hospital, who also happen to have played his television parents, the late Stuart Damon (ex-Alan Quartermaine) and Leslie Charleson (ex-Monica Quartermaine).

The moment came during the release of Sunday’s all-new episode of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve and Bradford Anderson. The episode featured questions from fans of the actors; one of which was for Steve that asked, “What it was like working with Stuart and Leslie as your parents?”

The two-time Daytime Emmy winner, who is currently in the last part of his extended hiatus from the ABC soap, always talks fondly of Stuart and Leslie and often gets choked up doing so. Stuart Damon passed away back in June of 2021, while Leslie Charleson passed away more recently in January of 2025. Burton debut as a young teenaged Jason Quartermaine back in 1991, and as he tells it, without the influence and help of Stuart Damon, his GH career may not be where it is today.

Photo: JPI

STUART DAMON’S WORK ETHIC

“Stuart was super consistent in how he worked. Super structured. I learned a lot from Stuart about his work ethic, his discipline, showing up, treating people kindly, being grateful,” recalled Burton. “If that’s what you can learn from somebody … that’s amazing. It was just something special about being in the Quartermaines. We had something. It was a special family put together.”

As viewers know, just by watching the death of Monica Quartermaine episodes earlier this year, just how close in real-life Steve was to the late Leslie Charleson. “Leslie was a firecracker. You didn’t know what was going to happen or when it was going to happen,” shared Burton. “I always tell the story about how I would come in chewing gum. I was this little cocky teenager and she’d be like, ‘spit it out now!’  Leslie was such a nurturing person. She loved to help, and had amazing sense of humor. I couldn’t have had two better onscreen parents ever.”

GH did a complete about face with the character of Jason Quartermaine after his motorcycle crash on New Year’s Eve in 1995, and he became Jason Morgan, who is now one of the all-time most beloved characters in the history of the show. But as Burton explains it, it may not have happened if it wasn’t for Stuart Damon.

YOU GOT TO GIVE THIS KID A SHOT

“Stuart was the biggest cheerleader of mine. Not often does this happen where somebody would go up to the fifth floor to whoever’s the executive producer and he says, ‘You gotta give this kid a shot. Give him more, see what he can do.’ That was really nice of him,” acknowledged Steve. “So, if it wasn’t for Stewart … I always speak very highly of him because he was amazing, In real-life, Stuart was just a beautiful soul would give anything to anybody. I always give him credit and Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), because without the two of them there, I wouldn’t be where I am for sure.”

You can check out the entire episode of the latest edition of Steve and Bradford’s podcast below.

Now, let us know, do you think that Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson as Alan and Monica were two of the greatest TV parents in the history of soap operas? What did you think of Steve’s remembrances? Drop your thoughts in the comment section.
