Jason Canela Reveals: “I’m Proud And Honored To Officially Be A Full-Time Member Of The Young and the Restless Family”
Former telenovela star, Jason Canela (Arturo) is staying put in Genoa City. Canela, who is of Cuban descent, was originally brought on to The Young and the Restless as a building contractor, who winds up being the boy toy of none other than Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).
Later, his story switched and Arturo has now been romancing and paired with Nikki’s stepdaughter, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway).
Now as Arturo becomes more entrenched in the Newman clan, Canela posted on his Instagram account that the CBS soap has signed him on as a contract player.
Jason expressed: “I’ve always believed that there are two types of artists. There are working ones and blessed ones. Thankfully I’ve had an incredible support system to always motivate me and help me push forward no matter how tough things got while I was working to become a better version of me so that one day I could be blessed. To every artist out there who feels discouraged because they have not booked that role or gotten that verse picked up in a track just remember that our line of work is not the easiest but if you truly love it then you know that if you continue to PUT IN THE WORK one day you will be blessed. Thank you to Mal Young, Sony, CBS & The Young and the Restless for believing in me and making me feel at home in Genoa city and blessing me with the opportunity to bring life to Arturo Rosales. I’m proud and honored to officially be a full time member of the The Young and the Restless family.” #Blessed #EnjoyEveryMoment
Glad to hear there is more Arturo in Genoa City and Jason is on contract at the top-rated daytime drama series? Comment below.
I am wondering who these idiots think brought this show to number 1?? Any ideas sure was not this guy and yes I know you need to add new characters but at what expense ???
ARTURO IS THE BEST GUY Abbys ever had
Are you crazy? Male gold digger..
Not SAYING MUCH!
Hi, Meg,
How? What has Arturo done so far to make him the best thing for anyone?? But, for the sake or argument, elucidate….I mean this in the nicest way….Not trying to be ‘snarky’ or anything. Honest!!
He came into town and ‘slipped’, ahemmm, in bed with Nikki at the first opportunity….or shall I say ‘invitation’??
Regardless, he was quite aware Nikki AND HER SON were his employers, and that she was much older, and out of his league….
AND, married to the most powerful man in town and beyond.
He completely disrespected every rule under the sun by crossing innumerable lines….
When that relationship went up in smoke, he targeted Nikki’s stepdaughter….Victor Newman’s daughter!! Best thing?
Also, my feeling is ( again, I hope I am wrong because the show does need diversity and a “pick-me-up) Arturo has no sister…. if it is his true sister, then, a part of a band of thieves….
Not only that, but Jordi will be part of the “Ali Baba-open Sesame” brotherhood. Ha!!
Check Jason and His brotherJencarlos out on You tube
Guess they’re following the GH playbook, k/kay, because, hey, that has been such a smashing success in propelling the show all the way to fourth place! Having said that, this actor dude would have made a perfect offspring for Sonny C…
A Morgan recast.
@Timmm…Nah, this guy doesn’t look whiny, immature or dimwitted enough to play the role of Morgan….he seems to have a more suave, self-possessed vibe…like a young Sonny! Besides it’s been awhile since a new Corinthois spawn has surfaced in Port Charles…long overdue according to schedule!
Not this guy, for sure, Kay. I trust your judgment completely…..and I hang on to your every word, my friend.
I cannot see this guy as having longevity on Y&R…..get rid of him and bring back Noah!!
I will say it again; whether I am proven wrong or not, Arturo is trouble….and, as usual, Abby will get hurt.
Diversity, yes BUT talent to!Then they have this actress who portrays Hillary that is talented and she will soon be gone!
I don’t mind Arturo, at least when he’s reasonably clean shaven. Mr. Canela is an attractive, relaxed, competent actor who has room to grow. Just keep him away from the Barracuda known as Nikki Newman. One quibble: can’t they also/instead bring Robert Adamson back and find a story for Noah? He grew so much as an actor, is beyond handsome, and the character is part of Genoa City’s core family. They found niches for Mariah and Abby, why not sweet Noah? Seems to me a perfect time to appoint him VP of Dark Horse.
Oh, I agree. The four core Newmans are all so flawed. I do root for Nick as I am weary of pointless Victor shenanigans, Nikki waffling, and Victoria lacking a spine. Noah had a conscience and good spirit about him (Thank you, Sharon!) that provides balance to this family. I would like to see the core families shored up not torn down… and yes, I am hating the Jack paternity plot. Really?
So glad to hear you have given a contract, love watching you. Hope blessings come your way.
Yes! Hadnt seen him on screen in a week or so and then read that Jordi from days was cast and i was scared he was a recast Arturo. Glad the original is staying to continue the Abby romance and to portray a working class character in genoa city
Thinking Rey is Arturos older brother ,Hope his younger sister Lola comes too.
I think this is a fantastic decision. I really like Jason Canela, and am real happy with his portrayal of Arturo. This is going to be fantastic fun. Love seeing diversity come into play in daytime! Cannot wait to see where this is now going to get Arturo in terms of story and character development!
I agree with you Scott and I hope they bring some of his family members on the show…
I have a feeling that’s who Jordi Vilasuso is going to be playing!
Congrats Jason. Well deserved !!!
Seems like a good guy and I love to see someones hard work pay off but unless he is tied to a historical character OR they bring in his family, I dont care about Arturo! Remember, they made this same mistake with Luca. They could have brought in his family and his father and Victor could have went toe to toe!
Bland and boring – then again, in these PC times, we have to add ‘color’ to the GC canvas, don’t we…????
Amen Bart. Lets add TALENT!
Oh, gimme a break already!!!!! The guy will be gone by the end of the year…if he lasts even that long…lol.
N-e-x-t……….
After which, he will probably be snapped up by GH….they do so love to recycle soapsters in Port Charles!
